Weekend in Bishopsteignton. Popped into the Old Commercial for a pint. Due to COVID restrictions waited a bit for a table - no problem. Sat for 15 minutes, nobody came to take our order. Locals who arrived after us served at their table immediately by the landlord. Ignored by his serving staff. People openly walking to the bar to be served despite COVID rules. Staff behind the bar weren't wearing masks. We ended up leaving before we were served. Avoid at all costs. I'd recommend the other two pubs in the village - Cockhaven and Ring O' Bells - excellent service, no problems, smashing the COVID rules and regs! ☑️

We live in the village and the CI is a great place to go if you don’t fancy cooking that night. The family make you very welcome including the dog the atmosphere is very welcoming and they have some great beers. Katherine makes an awesome Ham Egg and Chips which I am now going to miss because of the Coronavirus but great news they have opened an Off License and Bakery see you soon Terry Linda & Stan

Visited a couple of times whilst having a short break in the village. It's a nice unspoilt establishment serving some nice real ales. Very friendly staff and customers, the one barman had a cracking sense of humour. Entertainment is via a turntable record player, there are some eclectic choices waiting to be requested behind the bar. At the top of the village, it is worth searching out.

We had a great family meal here last weekend, 4 adults and 1 child and our dog. We were welcomed by the bar man - a top bloke - and served with local cider and good tasty pub grub. The steak & ale pudding was superb and the cheese board was fantastic. Highly recommend this place.

We called in this small pub whilst visiting Bishopsteignton. It was very cosy and the bar staff seemed quite pleasant advising us on Gin. We particularly liked the quirky old style music being played on a record player from behind the bar. The décor is very outdated but in someways that suited the style. Its not somewhere I would stay for more than a drink or 2 but was still a pleasant visit. Thanks.

Here is a publican go keep real ale, pull a decent pint, offer great customer service and classic "pub grub" whilst making you feel relaxed and at home without having to resort to Skysports and lager. Bravo Old Commercial Inn - long may you reign!

The owner makes his own scotch eggs.. Cooked to perfection. The luxury chips come with a variety of extras.. They also sell a variety of pies. Well with a visit.

Haven’t been here for years, was called Bishop John before but sadly closed along with other pub in village. Both have now re-opened, we tried Old Commercial last night and thoroughly enjoyed our ham, egg and chips. Friendly atmosphere. Good beer worth a visit.

For many years the old Bishop John Inn was a regular lunch time haunt for us but sadly it lost its appeal when new owners failed to do food.

This is a really welcoming pub, with great beer (I enjoyed the Dartmoor Dragon's Breath) and a short, simple but effective menu. Traditional pub food - pie and chips, ham egg and chips etc. We had freshly made scotch eggs - surprisingly fantastic, with a black pudding twist that really works. Also enjoyed playing 'Shut the Box'. Great hosts

The Bishop John de Grandison, is under new ownership, and has been renamed the "Old Commercial Inn". Its a lovely old building, large car park in a Devon village. Food has just been introduced, and now serving wonderful traditional pies, and accompaniments, as well as local ales.
