Okende in Rushcliffe

Went here for one of their weekend evenings where they do pasta and pizza. We started with focaccia followed by pizza and gnocchi and then cheese. All were delicious and plentiful. We completed with a bottle of their Polish red wine which was light, easy drinking and went well with the food. Service was excellent, attentive without being intrusive and friendly. All this in the usual O’kende relaxed style.

Great coffee from the new Carrington st outlet! It’s the perfect spot for me to grab a quick coffee on the commute to work. The coffee is far nicer than the chain cafes and at reasonable prices. The staff are friendly and the service is very quick - ideal on the morning commute. It’s a shame there isn’t much seating but it doesn’t matter if you’re taking away. I’ve not tried the pastries but they look delicious, which I’ll pick one up eventually. Overall, I can’t fault it. GO and support GOOD, independent coffee!

We came on a Saturday morning for brunch. Absolutely appalling customer service. The female member of staff who served us was rude and had an attitude problem. I am not surprised to see other reviews here about the hostile reception others have received. While some might like the ‘hipster’ vibe, I’m sure this place won’t last long if they continue in this manner..

Lovely unusual Swedish-style coffee shop; rare in Nottingham, only a few others that I know of and I'd say this is my favourite. Pastries and cakes are a nice mix of usual coffee shop favourites, plus more unique or Scandinavian style bakes. Keep up the Basque cheesecake as hardly any other places offer this! Lovely coffee too :D will come again.

I try very hard to support local independent cafes, I have tried it a few times but at some point you have to say after a few bad experiences it nor the place for me. If you are going to charge more for coffee in cup’s about 1/3 smaller than rivals at least make it decent coffee but the worst but is the coolness/rudeness of some of the staff. It’s the how date they sit in my showroom cafe, no real surprise last couple morning since it’s been empty. Maybe if they cared more about customer service than projecting a hipster image they would be busier!

Cool venue. Love the decor. Very good service. I've been several times and it's always been spotless. Highly recommend a cortado.

Superb coffee and the brownies are amazing. Great place for coffee and other things. Do yourself a favour and walk up from West B away from other coffee outlets and spend your money here. Friendly staff too.

Okende has become a firm favourite of mine and perfect whether working alone, indulging in brunch with friends or grabbing a coffee on the go. The coffee is delicious (and the 'brew bar' options of different coffees varied), the food menu extensive in delicious and fresh options, and the staff always offer a warm and friendly welcome alongside a wealth of knowledge in the coffee they produce and sell. Whatsmore the owners are often in the shop when I visit and are never too busy to stop for a chat or talk me through my questions about the business or the coffee they sell. This is something I really value about a business that clearly loves what it does and values connecting with the customers it has through its door.A true local asset, the likes of which starbucks and Costa could never offer; everything about this little independent is excellent and well thought through. From the calming and yet warm interior to the low-set coffee bar which allows customers to watch their coffee being made while also chatting to the baristas making it at the time. Even Bo, the resident doggo, fits well into the shops interior and the warm welcome of its owners!I can't recomend this little place highly enough - I'd be there every day if I could.

Visited last Sunday. Coffee was weak and tasted like instant. No atmosphere to the place and didn't seem all that clean. The staff were aloof and haughty.Walked passed later in the day and saw one of the staff had left their muddy boots and rucksack on the tables. Not very professional or hygienic. Won't be returning.

Was really hoping that this place would remind me of recent travels to Scandinavia. Found it really disappointing. Very simple. Too simple. Bare, stark, cold and unwelcoming. Ambience should not be underestimated, as a major factor for an overall experience in a place like this. The cakes were dry and stodgy. The coffee was bitter and watery. Ironically the one warm and welcoming part of my whole, brief experience at Okende was a kind of house dog?! Very cute and friendly but I couldn't help wonder if it was even remotely appropriate or hygiene?!

Just discovered this place in West Bridgford and it’s become my ‘go to’ coffee shop in the area. Quite clinical in appearance however once you get your head around that, (not saying it’s a bad thing, just different from most UK coffee shops) the coffee is excellent! They also do a variety of food however not tried this yet - they offer small dishes (inc Vegan options) plus lovely looking cakes & pastries. Certainly worth a visit if you are in the area.

Me encanta el ambiente minimalista y tranquilo de este lugar. Es un placer llamar aquí para un brunch o una taza de té. El personal es realmente agradable y eficiente y el café y el té de menta es bueno. La comida es simple y saludable y el pastel de chocolate es increíble: rico y húmedo y no demasiado dulce.

Fui aquí en tres ocasiones en los mismos días!La visita 1 fue para su cena de invierno con vino a juego. Esto fue completamente agradable y consistió en cinco platos de deliciosa comida, incluyendo muchas humildes verduras de invierno, preparadas por expertos y preparadas por Connor y Josh, para preparar deliciosos platos. Los vinos incluían espumosos ingleses, sidra y jerez.Visita 2 fue para el desayuno con café. Tuve la tostada de masa fermentada con mermelada, mientras que mi compañero tenía la papilla con compota y semillas. Ambos parecían encantadores y estaban deliciosos. El personal y los propietarios son amables, conocedores y serviciales. Los eventos adicionales son interesantes y agradables.

El diseño y la sensación de Okende es muy escandinavo, con muebles y decoración sencillos. Hay una gran variedad de té y café. La pareja que trabaja allí conoce muy bien sus productos. Y los pasteles son deliciosos. Realmente recomendaría este café, con un ambiente genial y un té excelente.

Just came across this place by chance while exploring West Bridgford, and went in as it was obviously an independent. One of the best coffees have had in a long time - really good flavour, nicely textured milk - nothing to fault.

Tried this when it first opened and keep returning, the coffee is so good.

Tried this place after recommendation. The pastries we had were delicious, so tasty especially the brownies. We had some of the bread too. Definitely worth a repeat visit.

If you are in West Bridgford this is a good choice to make a refuelling stop for very pleasant coffee and cake
