Oceans in Leeds

They found me some large fresh haddock after I arrived less than 10 minutes before closing. Very pleasant staff, very accommodating. And as for the haddock. Tasty, meaty fish encased in thin, crispy batter. Delicious!

Excellent fish and chips very good value for money

Food is served freshly cooked and warm. Service is good. Always a smile and bring the food to your table. Love the quality of fish. Batter is amazing and so are the chips. They still do parsley fish cakes - rare now. Portions of fish are getting smaller. But that's how it is everywhere. Rather have a quality smaller fish. Clean interior.

This place used to be amazing...order large fish and chips and the fish tasted smelly...and the chips had black marks all over them. And it's isn't cheap really disappointed feel robbed.

12 YEARS WE HAD BEEN WAITING FOR GOOD FISH AND CHIPS. Twelve, long, chippie-free years. Where we now live in East Anglia, the fish and chips are cooked in oil and they leave the skin on the fish - often declaring it the best bit, so we go without. OCEANS CHIPPIE IS SIMPLY THE BEST. Whilst visiting family over a few days I suggested we have a chippie tea at my sister's and asked her to recommend a good one. She said Oceans. Best by Far! and was spot on. We were in the queue and said we'd been waiting for a good chippie tea for 12 years and got a round of applause from staff and customers alike. They were right when they said we'd have a good one tonight. We did. Of course they are not cheap - nothing is any more, but compared with other chippies the prices are broadly similar. We will plan a visit to Oceans every time we visit the folks at home from now on. It was all cooked to perfection and that isn't something I say lightly. I can't eat greasy food and have to hit the antacids every time (OK, I'm a golden oldie) but they weren't needed! We had straight Fish and Chips with no sides of peas, sauce etc, but they were divine. I always said I wouldn't move back to Leeds as the weather where we live is a warmer and kinder climate, - but Oceans Fish and Chips would certainly tempt me back. As it stands, we will be visiting family again before long - and Oceans will be included in the visit every time! Is a 400 mile round trip too far for a Chippie tea? Yes, but it is something we can really look forward to. EDIT. We came back after 10 months and as promised, made sure a Chippie tea was part of the schedule. The Fish and Chips was just as good as we remembered and once again, there were no searing heartburn all night after-effects. How they manage that I do not know, but I wish they would open a branch in South Norfolk as Oceans would clean up down here. I am already looking forward to my next Leeds trip.

Treated myself to Fish and Chips whilst housesitting for a friend. Really big portion size, lovely fish and chunky chips. Will DEFINITELY recommend Xx

Ordered for the first time this evening a gluten free chips and fish and another gluten free fish and chips. When it arrived it had the odour and taste of non gluten frying. We have ordered gluten free at other fish and chip shops and the taste was definatley not the same. Will not be using this place again. Beware if gluten intolerant as we cannot be certain as had It delivered but the chips tasted as if non gluten and fryed in fat.

Disgusting chips rock hard not edible price you charge for them unbelievable went in bin fish wasn't any better neither people can't afford to throw money away !!!

Modern, clean, with friendly staff, excellent fish and chips, and good light bite deals which are easily enough to fill you. Costing virtually the same as a meal at the yellow arches it is actually fewer calories but will fill you up for much longer. What more could you ask.

Food was great only downside was delivery time, to say it’s only around 10 minutes away delivery was 1.5 hours

Absolutely appalling delivery service. Ordered at 17.10 and said 75 minutes for delivery. Rang up at 18.55 to be told its out with the driver. Order finally arrived 19.12

This was our first time going to Oceans Fish & Chips and can definitely say it won't be our last. We have used another 'chippy' for years but lately they have been terrible and we'd had enough of the poor quality Fish and decided to try Oceans and we have to say it was delicious,the quality and size of the fish was excellent and the chips were lovely and hot and the service we received was excellent too so we will definitely be back to Oceans for our next 'chippy tea'! The fish was very nice but the chips were not hot and they were soggy not crisp and light how they should be.

Excellent & happy staff who ho above & beyond for customers. Great food & huge portions. On one occasion, my mum forgot to ask for our chips for us to share, and she accidentally left our sraps behind. We had two trays of fish bites & curry sauce each & they were lovely! The next time we went, my mum had a pensioner's fish & chips, and because I don't have much of an appetite, I had a child's meal, fish bites & chips with a juice. Those with curry sauce & scraps were lovely & we both got plenty. Even those were more than enough to feed my mum & I & very reasonably priced! Absolutely yummy!! Cheers Ocean's! I.used to.love this place and its food ! But after years if going there I recently has a bad experience ! The manager or guy who worker there asked me would I be leaving soon ?! I didn't know why ?! Then he said the customers had complained I smelt of antiseptic ! And it was putting them off their food n they didn't want to eat ! . I won't be going back ! I will go elsewhere! They just lost a customer !

Visited with my mum for her birthday, had mini fish n chips each with a side of mushy peas and a brew The fish was beautiful, chunky white and succulent with a beautiful light coating of perfectly cooked batter Lovely thick cut chips and mushy peas to accompany the fish To top it all was the friendly helpful service from the girl who served us 10 out of 10 all round , beats any rival further up the road nr a roundabout !!

I have been having gluten free fish many times , but once again this week the fish was dry & batter thicker & not crispy !! It is usually beautiful , but, it’s a little expensive to have to throw most of it away!!!

Yum! What a proper chippy this is! Chips were thick, chunky proper chip shop chips. The fish was really good. Mushy peas on the side. Fabulous 🤩 The gentleman serving us was really helpful and friendly. Quick service and wonderful atmosphere. Must visit!

Called in here with my youngest son for fish and chips. Great meal, good portions and a reasonable price. Very impressed. Will call again.

We got two fish and one portion chips £18.00 and the fish or should I say the lack of fish was poor. I’ve eaten fish fingers with more fish in . Absolutely disgusting.

Great Haddock and chips, eat in for free or take out, can get very busy, but worth the wait. They do a small fish and chips for just over £6 if u not a big eater. Bottles of water £1. Excellent value around.

This is a great fish and chips shop where you can find in our take away. The fish and chips is really good and a great portion. They also offer gluten free fish and chips. I highly recommend this place.

Beautiful fish & chip shop, they present their food so proudly and their fish is absolutely amazing! I don't go regularly but this restaurant is worth visiting. You can sit in or take away, I think they also deliver aswell. Highly recommend.

Its still there. I have been going over 40 years. Ok prices have risen but thats expexted.

Not a bad place. Nice and clean. Expensive though. Think Wackers in Scarborough but twice the price. Chips dry. Fish nice. I used to be a prison officer. The blue trays they serve on are the exact same ones prisoners get issued. Oh yes before I forget. Malt vinegar in a chippy is a big no no. Please provide proper chip shop style vinegar.

Lovely chips and curry sauce, best around. I live half an hours drive away and always call in when I'm in the area. The only problem is they make every other chippy a bit disappointing!

Becoming hit and miss, went yesterday and the food was really really soggy when I got home. Usually not the standard but I might aswell have gone to rockfords down the road.

Rude staff! I called in for some chips and all the staff was talking for of them, they didn’t acknowledge I was there until it suited them, I asked for chips and scraps, there wasn’t any scraps left which was fine, but the fryer kindly made a small portion and the server attempted to pick them up and then said “ oh I can’t be bothered I’m too tired”! I asked for a folk which seemed like a hard mission and she didn’t say Thankyou or anything when she gave me my change! So rude! My chips would have tasted better if they were served with politeness and a smile! The chips left bitter taste in my mouth!

First time ordering and won't be last absolutely beautiful good size portions and arrived hot. Delivery driver was polite. Will definitely be back

It's definitely not as nice as when they had the proper cafe separate. The fish is nice but nothing special and I think the chips were frozen as they were terrible. Very casual eat in place, as I said much nicer before they did the extension. Dont know if they changed owners or chef but need to get back to previous quality

Good food polite staff but toilet locked can't use it without asking for it unlocking. It's a danger for those with disabilities and elderly.

I've been lucky enough to have seen behind the scenes at oceans and let me assure you no expense has been spared, its a family run business that with years of experience have mastered their trade and excelled in what they do in every way possible, the amount of investment and effort that goes into cleanliness, product quility and customer satisfaction is unparalleled, even now in a time where the food industry is struggling, oceans will not comprise on service or quality, if you have never tried them before I guarantee you will not be disappointed, keep up the good work oceans, your at the top of your game

Portions are slightly bigger than normal, onion rings and chicken nuggets are fried at the order. All chips and fish are crunchy and never fluffy. Go to Coe's or skyliner. Very poor meal, fish was soggy chips not great. 4 meals nearly £35 expensive and dog eat half.

Beutiful fish and chips and the new seating area is great for the family to enjoy lunch.

Lovely fish and chips and ample portions one lot did for 2 people and prices about average think was around £8 for fish and chips and bread cake and curry sauce. Fish was delicious highly recommend

I do love the fish and chips but you have to consider your options when all you do I slap curry sauce on it. The price you pay compared to others is considerable. £2 a fish extra.

Every time I've used these their food has been great quality. Inside the place is kept clean and the staff are really pleasant and you are served really quick.
