The Old Village Fish Shop in Leeds

Says on website open till 7pm jumped on bus got there shut.

Visited for the first time in over a year and was nice to see the shop busy though I think that lead to some rushed orders and mix ups.. I requested a BATTERED sausage and received a plain one, also requested a large and small portion of chips and they were all all smushed into the same bag leading to some confusion and splitting when home.. don't get me wrong the QUALITY was fantastic and not oily or greasy in any way but it's a shame I could they what I requested, shop was also out of curry sauce so had to make do without which is a shame but clearly it must've been a popular busy day.. all in all minus the order issues and packaging it was a good experience

Lovely fish and chips cooked to order, served by charming and friendly staff. Spotless place, as well, and given the recent cost of living chaos, reasonably priced, too. Would certainly recommend, and shall be back, no danger! 👍😜

Been a few times and had a bad experience every time. Exceptionally rude, poor customer service and will not be going back. Just no need for the attitude as soon as you walk in the door

Fantastic chippy I always use this one when I’m staying in Middleton!!

Not card friendly, minimum of £5 and I don't carry cash. I wanted a box of chips for lunch (£2) and ended up tripling my order. The food is decent but there are better chip shops in the area, with better customer service. I will definitely go somewhere else next time. If you want a good chip two streets down there is an excellent one called KP's, but don't go here. It used to be my favourite chippy but I won't go there again, KP's is superior.

For me.... The best fish n chip shop in South leeds. Top shelf quality and you definitely get value for money. The owner is a friendly and everything is cooked to order... No warm ups.

Not many chippies to choose from in Middleton but this one is probably the best.

Don't use sausage dripping with fat cold chips and curry like water

I used to love this place when I lived in Middleton so was passing witb the kids recently and said shall we get chippy? The chips were dried up and cold and the young lass serving although she had her hair tied in a bobble it was so long and she kept flicking it about over her shoulder no hair net and fancy nails with no gloves, you look lovely sweetheart you really do but no one wants your hair or nail varnish in their food so get on a food hygiene course, won't be going back ever.

Cooked to order with nice crispy batter. Chips not soggy, only downside peas were a bit thick

Would have given minus rating if possible. Never going again. Fish cakes were inedible as the potato was raw. Fish was dry and the chip shop curry sauce was more water than curry. Never had a thinner curry in any other Fish shop.

Lovely clean chippy. Friendly welcome. Fish cooked fresh and lovely light batter. Generous portions and mushy peas are lovely - not like slop you sometimes get at chippies. Lovely fresh breadcakes.

One of the best Fish and Chip shops around this area, all fish is cooked to order so nice and hot and fresh, none of this been kept warm. Always good quality from here, with friendly staff as well.

Got be the best fish and chip shop in Middleton if not leeds, freshly cooked fish and not stood for hours like most fish and chip shops. The quality is spot on and not an ounce of grease.👍

Haven't been for years but while visiting my mum we popped in, the inside has been revamped to a lovely standard and was really good fish and chip.

Best fish and chip shop in Middleton and prob in Leeds. All cooked fresh and friendly staff. Fish is excellent quality. Missed it today when it was closed for holidays and tried a different one. 100% if you’ve not been then try, you won’t go to another one again.

Just ordered Fish n Chips twice with a battered Sausage for delivery. Delivery spot on... Fish cooked golden brown outside, flaky in the middle and the chips were cooked to perfection... oh not forgetting the battered sausage which was very tasty. We've used the Old Village for years and it still is in our opinion the best around...spot on...👌🏻 cheers...👌🏻

Had Fish & Chips and it was very nice. The only problem was the portion size! A nice piece of fish but a sprinkling of chips! Possibly the smallest portion of chips I've ever had in a chippy!

I placed an order for fish and chips and even tho the shop was closing in 15 mins, the owner was happy to make my order. Great customer service, but was very disappointed with my order. The fish was very dry and crispy (like it had been reheated) and also very greasy.

Lovely as always , owner is nice and helpfull , food cooked to order so i ring ahead then collect to avoid waiting x ordered 3 kids meals and was more than enough for 2 adults and a child , even converted my 3 year old into eating fish x

freshly cooked fish and chips done in the old fashioned manner large portions of thick white fish in a light crispy batter and a good sized portion of chips really great service and friendly staff very highly recommended and will definitely be going again

The staff are friendly, the fish is amazing ! The curry sauce is really nice and the portion sizes are excellent and delivery times are reasonable, all in all you couldn't ask for a better service with such high quality food!

Fish, very good, chips (over half an hour before closing time too) ruddy crap. Cold, drying out and looked like they were crying. Never never again. If the others locally are closed I'll nip round the corner for a curry instead.
