We went for a family dinner . When we arrived we were seated downstairs and it was less than half full. We joined the queue to order our drinks and food as it’s not table service. One person behind the bar doing this and quite a lengthy queue. Order was placed with the member of staff who was very pleasant . It was a very warm day and there was no windows or doors open also no air conditioning on . There was dance music on very loud which made it very difficult to hear when we were talking . Food arrived and was lovely . We waited for over 30 mins after we had eaten and I had to ask for our table to be cleared as we wanted to order desserts. Again we joined the queue to order. We waited for a long time and in the end I had to ask if they could chase the desserts up . Overall food was good but the place was greatly understaffed on a sunny Saturday even when it wasn’t more than half full. I felt sorry for the staff as it was obvious they were under a lot of pressure to keep things running however it definitely reflected the service aspect and it would make me hesitant to return .

Decided to have a relaxing afternoon in the bowling alley with some of my best chums. All was going well until the bottle of rosé turned up. It was dreadful. Not at all what you would expect from a quality venue like The Ocean. It really put me off my game. Oli B

We came in here to just have a drink and see the wonderful view of the sea. Ended up having a fabulous meal, staff really helpful...thank you. I had the sea bass...was amazing ! My husband had a meat feast pizza which was also amazing and he thoroughly enjoyed it. Coming back to have a bowl on Sat 29th March. Great venue!

I will never set foot in here again! Totally shambolic service from stroppy staff who couldn’t even apologise for their mistakes. We made our orders in small groups, one after the other. Waited a while and one order of 3 things appeared, the last one made. About 15 minutes later another order for two came out. Then we were told an item, mussels, part of the first order wasn’t available. Yet they had taken the order and we had paid for it. We ordered something different. That appeared straight away. Then we sat and waited and waited, an hour later, still no food. Asked a waiter how long? He said he’d find out. Another half an hour, asked again, got told but you all ordered separately. Finally another two orders appeared but we were still one missing. They tried to tell us we’d ordered something completely different, we said no we ordered a burger and a chicken salad. When it finally arrived, almost 2 hours after ordering, the chicken, which should have been warm, was cold, tough and flavourless. To be honest, it was disgusting. The fact of each group ordering separately should not have affected the length of time to serve.

Stay out of the soft play! Myself and my family come to soft play every friday and i’m absolutely fed up with within a few days my kids having some kind of cold, which after our last visit we all came home with stomach bugs. Iv never put 2 and 2 together but since speaking with other family’s we aren’t alone! This place is not being kept clean, we noticed some sticky residue on some of the higher levels and a week later when we came back it was still here! Iv reported this twice now! The soft play is absolutely filthy! my children's socks black within minutes of coming here, the floors are disgusting. A young child had an accident on the 2nd level and 40 mins the mess was left there! we’re done with this place! it needs an absolute deep clean professionally!

Had seen a few weeks ago Ocean had started a Sunday Roast luncheon menu, so combined a visit with a nice walk along the beach with the dogs to blow away the weeks cobwebs! So, after taking a seat with a pint of Guniness and the dogs chilled beside me, out came a piping hot beef roast dinner with all the trimmings (glad they include my favourite parsnips!) and within 20 mins of ordering! Having lived in Devon for nearly 20 years now (so I’ve tried a fair few over the years) this Roast was phenomenal, and I truly mean that. Think of it more Micheal Canes than Hungry Horse… Will be back next Sunday!

All the eating places in Exmouth are doing kids eat free or for a £1 through the holidays, why aren’t you doing the same as everyone else?? We come here as we like to sit in the window once upon a time desserts for children were free this is no longer the case why? To be fair today wasn’t as busy as usual I’m guessing it’s because of those few pointers above. I would much rather go to these other places it does help when you’re dining out. We only came here thinking you had the said above on offer to be honest I wish we hadn’t 2 baguettes 2 kids meals came to nearly 60 quid. For the 4 of us before would cost us 30 for the exact same thing it’s increased by 30 quid not ncluding kids free desserts imagine what it would be if we got desserts for them too!!

Pre-book any meal you have here as they fill up quickly. We booked for breakfast at 11am. We got there a little early, but they were able to place us at a table with no bother. The menu is varied and you can pretty much have anything you want. There is a terrace view over the beach and the scenery is spectacular. It is a little on the pricey side, but the service and food is excellent, so well worth it in our book. Worth a visit, even if only for some drinks. Would recommend a visit.

Booked a table on the Deck. Fantastic sea views and our food was good. Liked the menu, something for everyone! However the toilets were awful. Closed on our level for cleaning but remained cordoned off even when cleaning was completed. So everyone using downstairs. Cubicle floors dirty No toilet paper in any ladies cubicle and at 9pm, cleaning rota had only been completed until 5pm. Downstairs was packed. I understand the urinals in the gents were …. Well won’t even go there. Sounds like a small thing, but I think if Covid has taught us anything it’s that good hygiene is sooooo important.

The wife treated us to a bit of bowling here while on holiday in Exmouth for the first time. The drinks could have been in cleaner glasses, and the table was quite sticky. The staff were very friendly, and a nice view out of the main cafe window.

The sharing platter of chicken strips and breast, onion rings, chips and bettered mushrooms was very poor quality indeed. It was obviously cooked from frozen and then reheated upon purchase. The chicken was dry, the onion rings greasy and the mushrooms bland. We also shared a margarita pizza which again was cooked from frozen and the topping was again almost uneatable. So disappointing. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the place was popular but food was terrible. The price was also high for what your actually getting.

Have been before for a friends wedding so I knew the ease and the size of the location, but never had been on a play date their with my baby. And I can honestly say it's perfect for little ones to run around. Although I can imagine at weekends it's pretty busy. I'm lucky with my 9 month old he's not quite on the loose yet but it won't be long. This friendly clean spacious jungle gym /restaurant/ break for parents is perfectly equipped for everything you need. Although you do have to pay to get in (£1.00 ) per adult free for under 12 months then it varies depending how old your child is. Check out their website for more details. This £1.00 is refunded when you spend on food and drink which you will. Lots of staff and they are always cleaning the place. Plenty of high chairs kids menu and adults menu and even have a cute little table and chairs for the little ones meals

We visited ocean prior to going to the theatre. We both ordered Crab Linguine and all I can say was that a gloopy orange mass was delivered on our plates. It was inedible and we both left our £13.95 meals intact. You couldn't pick up one strand of pasta. The whole mass was stuck together. Totally horrible and inedible. We ended up leaving and going somewhere else to eat.Would never recommend Ocean.

I'm not sure where to start with this review or whether my words can do Ocean & its staff justice but I'll try! Reasons to hold your wedding/function here:1) The staff - the staff make the venue. Nature has provided the perfect backdrop of Exmouth beach but Rayna, Philippa & their team make this venue what it is. From the build up to our wedding to the day itself, nothing & I mean nothing was too much trouble. From our first meeting I was confident that all our needs & requests would be met & they were, with cherries on top! On the day the team executed their duties to perfection & STILL had a smile on their faces 12 hours later! Almost all of our guests commented on the service they received. Hats off to them all, we can't thank them enough.2) The view - simply stunning. The balcony provides the perfect setting for drinks in the sunshine & an amazing backdrop for photos.3) The food - we had afternoon tea & also fish and chips. Again our guests commented on how delicious the food was.4) The function room itself - large enough for a big do yet can be adapted to cater for a smaller function. Great dance floor space, with all the equipment for a DJ & band to plug into. Our band commented several times on how great a venue it was to play in. The bar area provides an intimate setting for those who want to sit & chill with a drink & escape the dance floor. The toilets are finished to a high standard & immaculately clean. And there's the added bonus of a private dressing room complete with toilet & shower for you to freshen up in or even just to store a few valuables away. Of note - it's great for disabled access with a lift to the top floor & disabled toilet too.I'd strongly recommend anyone planning to hold a function to visit here just a look around...I guarantee you'll come out having booked it!

Went out for a drink with family and friends! Rang up last night asking if the top bar was open as we were looking to watch the red arrows in which they said it would be! Only to find out on arrival that it wasn't due to a wedding being set up!Drinks- we wanted Devon red... On the pump but not able to have? Lime- no limes insight? Friday night and you can't even stick up on lime? Jacket potato- on the menu but not serving them? To top it off the staff seemed drained and unmotivated!

We spend around £50 for 5 adults. They forgot one meal and didn't bring the kids meals until afterwards. Food was average and the place was dead despite it being a bank holiday. I would not go back there again

Overall, Ocean Blue dining was a great experience even though as with any Ocean trip, a bit bumpy at times - a big thanks to General Manager Annette for smoothing it all out.On The Crest of a Wave: fantastic location, magnificent sea views - basking in the sun and celebrating a lovely day-out cycling with dear friends.Heading Down: felt like a longish wait for sandwiches and a salad, however nice menu, fair prices and the superb environment made up for it.Oh Dear: Food delivered, I asked about cutlery to be told it was on the bar ("get it yourself", silently communicated). Nachos and cheese were overcooked, and my attempt to send them back seemed to be met with resistance from 'get your own cutlery' women who volunteered that she was the Manager. Unwilling to wait further, I was not to be put off and politely asserted my refund.Getting Better: Food was good, chilled largers with slices of lime were perfect.Surfing!: Enter Annette - the real Manager. She said that she agreed about the nachos, apologised and offered to arrange the refund. I find myself understood and valued - the essence of good service inhabits a response like hers. Annette's care was excellent and her enthusiasm infectious. If you get offered as we did, take the opportunity to look look around this super place. Above the bar and bowling alley are two huge impeccably appointed floors for conferences, wedding receptions, parties.... There's a stage, seating inside and out, and views to die for. That vast expanse of clear glass makes it feel like being right in the middle of the Ocean Blue.I think it is a really exciting and special venue for Exmouth and I wish Annette and the owners the success that they surely deserve.

Breakfast was certainly an interesting experience. The incredibly friendly staff certainly had their own unique system of handling groups of over 4 people so you can imagine their delight when we arrived with a group of 20. Potential customers should be aware that you categorically must not order for yourself but through a middle party instead. If you try to order your own food or drink I suggest you speak to the responsible person in your party for them to relay your order to the very lovely rosey cheeked attendant at the till. In my case our responsible person was only 3 foot away from me but we made sure to follow the rules as to not cause an eruption of chaos in the kitchen. When I received my apple juice, I really admired its antique look. The sediment at the bottom and the out of date use by label really added to the chic worn vibe that this hip establishment embellishes by the bucket load. The cleaner is obviously very lucky and has had a long holiday, (possibly to another farm shop the costa del Sol). I say this as the building has acquired an impressive collection of cobwebs in their absence. Now the main event BREAKFAST!!! Everyone likes to start their day with a hearty meal, I feel the two members of staff whole heartedly agreed with me as they left a few extras in some of our food to make sure we didn’t go hungry. One fantastic long black hair that I’m sure is packed full of protein (looked like a moustache hair, but I’m not a barber). One no longer buzzing fly that gave my crispy bacon that extra crunch. I also stayed hydrated through the water that was served to me from a designer tea pot that had amazing tea colouring and stains within in. Once I had consumed my meal I made sure to use the toilet facilities to rid my ablutions apart from the skid marks and the mixtures of cobwebs and urine the toilets were delightful. In all it was an unforgettable magical experience. Shamefully I am stuggling to give it 5 stars and there was a small chip in the plate my breakfast was served on. 4 stars.

We had a comfortable stay at the Anchor room was clean ... adjoining bathroom also. We had dinner and breakfast the following morning. Nothing terrible to say but with an almost perfect situation on the seafront at Beer ... it could be more. So four stars for being 'OK'.... for having friendly staff and being a nice refuge from a wet and windy night! Here's a few thoughts on what would have made it a 5 star review!! Food .... I've eaten here a few times over the years... you could describe the fare as "Wetherspoons Plus" the usual breaded fish, chicken and burgers, probably what most people prefer but with fresh locally caught fish on sale within 100 meters it would be so nice to see one or two offerings that reflect that. Wine ... perfectly nice pinot Grigio but at around £25.00 per bottle it's a bit on the steep side. Breakfast additional to room price at £12.00 with a choice of continental or cooked ok. Accommodation. Very nice large bath. The shower gel dispenser awkwardly sited away from the shower unit and too high to reach in the bath!! Bathroom door hinges had a "Halloween " grade creak... not what you want if you use the bathroom in the small hours! Resorted to smearing some shower gel on the hinges which fixed the problem but really ...you don't get rusty hinges like that in one day... Bedroom: Comfortable with a good view of the beach and sea. TV only has freeview. No welcome pack to be seen. Tea and coffee OK. So overall a nice place to stay. The menu could be more interesting and some aspects of the accommodation need a bit of attention to detail.

We stayed in Haven Devon Cliffs in August 2023, and The Tythe Cottage Restaurant is on the left-hand side from the entrance. Lovely little Cottage with beer garden and old style inside which we loved and small little bar. Toilets are outside. Kid friendly . Kiddies Corner on the menu and great selection. Very reasonably priced. Staff and the atmosphere were very friendly.
