Absolutely wonderful fish and chips served by fantastically friendly staff. Most definitely the best fish and chips in Oxford, and well worth a cycle in the rain for!

Bought takeaway Bank Holiday Saturday. Haddock very good, chips oddly stiff and chewy with lots of sharp edges so not very enjoyable to eat. Mistake in bill which took some time to correct (in fact I had been undercharged, but at first this was not clear). Shop nice and clean.

The best fish and ships we have tried on this trip. Fresh and well fried fish, fresh and delicious potatoes and Juan and his very very friendly employees. Thank you!!!

Food always great, people serving always friendly.

We had a short wait for our food to be cooked fresh for us. The cook apologised for the wait but I reassured him that everything was correct.

Stayed overnight nearby. Great service, fish n chips cooked to perfection. Then watched England to get through to the final. Thankyou for a tasty meal. Service excellent no need to apologise for delay, freshly cooked you expect to wait.

Previous two star review now edited as although we have found it hit and miss in the past, in the last two visits the quality seems to have improved and the food has been delicious. Hope the quality continues as this level as we will definitely become regulars if it stays at this standard.

One of the best!! ⭐️⭐️ The chips are always tasty, The fish is always perfect and I would highly recommend the Ocean blue burger (My absolute fav) 😋😋 Molly and Daisy (My dogs) are massive fans on the sausages 🤩🤩 Tracey and the team are always incredibly pleasant!! The service is always quick 👍 Personally I think the prices are very reasonable (Large Cod, Medium Chips, Pie and sausage for around £15) :) Would highly recommend ❤️ xx

You don't expect how good the food is from the outside of the store, super friendly gentleman who helped us!

The cod was delicious, but the chips unfortunately had an odd taste and were not crispy or salted at all. The man who took our order misunderstood us and we ended up with three massive orders of chips and had to pay extra!

Had the 'senior's deal' this time. Better suited to the smaller appetite and very reasonably priced. Freshly cooked and very tasty - well worth the few minutes' wait.

Food was great. But if you’re charging for dips let the customers know upfront. Couple of times I came to buy fish and chips I wasn’t charged for them.

All staff are very helpful,also the fish and chips are great. The portion size are big, so maybe don't go for large chips unless your feeding a few of you.

Great little chippy on the main road, quality chips and fish. It's not a sit down affair, you order your food, and they're done before you know it. Would reccomend to anyone, and everyone.

Always super friendly. Being vegetarian they're very accommodating. If I want battered vegetarian sausages, they allow me to bring them in, and they will make them for me. Good prices and friendly staff always recommend

The best fish n chips around. We don't go anywhere else. I can highly recommend not only the fish, but all the other items on the menu. Between myself and family members, we've tried almost everything. The food is exceptional. The staff are very friendly and efficient, even at their busiest times.

Stopped here and had cod and chips. Absolutely great. Cod was lovely with crispy batter, which it should be and the chips were the best we have had for a long time. Will definitely visit again.

Such a nice vibe to walk into very clean and hygienic! Staff very welcoming and lovely, decent priced around £8 a meal. Got home and opened up the grub…. AMAZING!!!! Best fish I’ve had in a while (the cod) and the chips are lovely too soft in the middle with a tad of crunch from the outer, battered sausage and cod both battered to a good consistency, BRAVO 🙌🏼 Will be back for more 🐠

We had a take away as we were in Oxford fir a few days and by far it's the best fish and chips we have ever had totally yummy 😋

Pretty decent large cod & small chips at £8.50 for the 2. Enough to split between 2 people when I got them home. Good friendly service & a clean place.

Very nice food, we preordered so it was ready to pack when I arrived to collect. Reasonable value for money but if you go cheaper it tends to be very poor.

Update: Happy to report that staff were wearing masks last week. I was just driving past but stopped immediately & ordered some food. Hope they continue to wear masks. Changing the stars back to 5 because of the change of heart on mask wearing. Thanks guys! Original 1 star review: 5 stars for the actual fish & chips. We've been going there most Friday nights for a while but dismayed to find that the staff have now stopped wearing masks. Disappointing decision with Covid numbers rising. Gutted to have to get the Friday feast from a different chippy who take Covid seriously.

Chips weren’t cooked longer enough would come back but Combe bothered to walk over the train bridge just get some fresh chips definitely won’t be coming back I go to the tandem for chips in future.

I have lived in Abingdon since 2013 this is the first time I have been for fish and chips here. I have got to say that this is the best fish and chips that I have had. Chips cooked to perfection and the fish was just right with crispy batter on all sides plenty of salt and vinegar. Clean and tidy in the shop. I would have given 5 stars but the chip portion was small for a large. Definitely recommend and will be back for more.

Good food and relative quick service for it being freshly cooked.

I would not recommend this place, sorry. They are expecting the customers to wear a mask, but even the staff themselves were not wearing masks, they don't even clean their hands. I had to wait 20 minutes for my order. The chips were terribly and the tasted of old oil.

Called in here today for the first time after a family recommendation and I was not disappointed! Had a seniors portion of cod and chips for a fiver. Nice thick piece of well cooked cod in a crispy batter & a sensible portion of good chips. I had a feeling it was going to be good as I remembered the owners ran a chip shop near my home but when they left it went downhill. So glad I have found them again and shall be returning soon!

Used to be a good chip shop when it 1st opened, but now soggy chips every time, gone down hill like the other chains in Abingdon.

Having read the explanation, and talked to other customers this was a genuine mistake - just make sure you're order is clear, and if in any doubt check it before leaving if possible.

Great food, great service and good prices! Fed 4 adults for about £30 Definitely recommend the fish (of course!), chicken kebab & halloumi - delicious! Can't wait to go back again :-)
