Being local weve used the cafe many times over the years .....but not for sometime now... We chose to have breakfast there today and have to say we won't be returning On arrival a frozen food delivery company was delivering produce , which begs the question of "local produce" on their menu Ordered 2 barn breakfasts £ 10.95 each One arrived with 1 slice of bacon and 4 bits of toast....hard poached egg Other arrived with 2 slices of bacon and all bean juice and no beans Neither was particularly hot , tomatoes were rock hard and as for " local" sausages they were awful , spongy and almost gooey ,the dogs enjoyed them though it's very expensive for what it says it is £4.95 for a large latte

I needed somewhere handy to meet my friends and one of them had never been to Occombe so we thought it was a good excuse to have lunch. I had the vegetarian chilli and it was so tasty, I could have ordered it again! We will definitely be back and hopefully this will still be on the menu!

We regularly use Occombe as food, though on the expensive side, is always of good quality. This morning it was foul. My partner had full breakfast. . Perfect... i had what was meant to be sliced avocado with poached egg. What appeared was slush avocado ( what looked like puree out of a bottle) with raw eggs on too. Just foul. Un eatable. Spoke to lady on till who assured me it was fresh avocado but came out as smashed rather than sliced. I offered to show her/ take the plate back but she wasn't interested. Didnt offer an alternative and I was dismissed. Come on Occombe. We use you regularly. Your large coffees have gone over £4. You need to up your game to keep your regularly clients.

Farmers breakfast came swimming in water I guess of the tomatoes? So toast was like a wet sponge. The sachets of brown sauce they have are disgusting, taste nothing like brown sauce and just ruined the already bad breakfast 😮💨

Very disappointed. I went with my husband, who had the Barn Breakfast, which was ok, but nothing special. I ordered scrambled egg on toast and have never seen or tasted anything like it. It was very pale and soggy and tasteless and uncooked in the centre. I took it back and they replaced it with one that was almost as bad. I only had 3 mouthfuls before being unable to eat anymore, so I left it. I then felt sick for the next hour. I live locally, but will never eat there again. The nearby garden centre is much better.

We have had lunch at Occombe Farm Cafe a few times now, and it never disappoints! The latest visit was a few days ago, when we had a couple of their sandwiches which were freshly made and substantial, with coleslaw and crisps and salad, and very tasty. We shall return!

Fabulous views but very disappointing selection of cakes, no large sponges or gateaux, just tray bakes, flapjacks, a couple of different tarts and scones. Used to be the place to go for a mouthwatering choice of large cakes.

Spent best part of a day at the farm park whilst on holiday and planned to take lunch in the restaurant after seeing the menu online. I have to say it was worth taking time out and certainly didn't disappoint. Plenty of seating, not too crammed in either. Food made to order and presented nicely and at a price in-keeping with the area. Would not hesitate to eat here again on future visits.

This cafe sitting above the farm shop was far from busy on the Tuesday we visited for lunch, yet service was far from quick, albeit staff were very friendly. Not a huge range of hot food on the menu but enough to offer a reasonable choice and the was freshly prepared with good portion size and quality. The prices are not cheap so more akin to a pub meal than a quick “cafe” bite. Having said that all four plates of food went back empty and four full people left. A nice indoor seating area, restricted if you have a dog. A terrace and outdoor seating too. The farm shop has a lovely deli counter with a wide selection of produce….and fudge!

Decided to pop in on Tuesday and I’m glad we did! The frittata looked amazing, and tasted just as good! I’d definitely recommend going back just for that. It’s lovely that you can see a selection of food on the way to the till. The chef who made this clearly cares about the food he makes!

We arrived at 11.48 and the cafe wasn’t busy. We realised lunch didn’t start service until 12 but asked could we place our order for soups and they could serve us when they were ready. We were told NO! Can’t see it would have hurt as all they had to do was put the order through the till, we paid and they delivered our drinks & food when they were ready. Soups were £8 each so not cheap for soup & bread and with drinks they lost nearly £30 sale, well if they can afford to do that then we won’t be returning. Thanks

We called here after seeing good reviews. Unfortunately, we found it quite underwhelming. We have a dog, and while welcome inside it is a small area just on the left. On a nice day you would sit outside but if you needed to go inside the space is limited. All the other tables in the dog area were taken by people without dogs, so again, you might not get a seat. We had a farm breakfast and a vegan breakfast, neither was hot and certainly not on my list of top breakfasts. Staff are young, but no one appeared happy to be there. True, it was busy and we had to wait a while for our food but it was not worth the wait. While I am not tempted to make a return visit, it will appeal to those with young families because of the farm

Stupidly followed my satnav through the back lanes of Cockington to get there, some only inches wider than the car then when I got there found that it's virtually on the main road up from the end of the Devon Highway. Went in through the Farm Shop, and eventually found the Cafe up some stairs. No signs telling me what to do so after sitting at the table for a while i asked a passing server and found out that I had to order at the counter. I was ignored for a few minutes while the person behind the counter mucked about with a complicated Italian Espresso machine. Eventually I placed my order for the Barn Breakfast (one of everything). After about 15 minutes it arrived together with a pot of tea and a dirty cup instead of the mug of tea I'd asked for. Went in search of knife, fork, napkin which are on the table by the window. The toast is on top of the breakfast with no sideplate so the table is used for buttering. Went off again in search of some butter which I found. Let's look at the breakfast item by item. 1.The Toast: Soggy due to sitting on top of a hot breakfast under a heat lamp. 2.The Sausage: Decent quality but had been deep fried to an even dark brown all over then left somewhere to dry out and go wrinkly. 3.The Bacon: Good quality and nicely cooked. 4.The Baked Beans: Definitely not Heinz and absolutely salt free - disgusting. 5.Half a Tomato: Nicely grilled. 6.Mushrooms:Shrivelled and dried out. 7.Hash brown - Apart from the fact a hash brown should never be in an English breakfast - it's a McDonalds item - this was a standard deep fried frozen thing. Truly horrible. 8.Poached Egg:The highlight - beautifully cooked yellow yoked poached egg. I suspect the breakfast had been left, after plating up, under a heat lamp, waiting for one of the (not enough) servers to bring it to the table. At something around £12.50 it was utterly underwhelming and I left at least half of it. Would I go back? - No.

Staff are not welcoming, they don't smile or say hello, what is going, don't they understand the difference a warm friendly welcome makes, the setting, drinks, and snacks were otherwise ok although a bit too highly priced, there's great views but staff just need to develop better customer care skills, sorry but it needs to be said as it will make a huge difference, come on guys, you can do it, when a customer comes in engage and show that you care about them and their experience, and then they will want to come back having remembered your warm welcome.

Sausages where the cheapest imaginable, mass produced type full of rusk and not a lot else. Surely a farm cafe should be trying to source local ingredients from local suppliers? We are blessed to live in a part of the world full of great produce. Ullacombe farm at Haytor is miles better and worth the extra drive. Staff where friendly.

A lovely location with fantastic views. Better since the abolition of parking fees. I had stopped going because of the parking fees. This was my first time back in ages. I had a good welcome although the staff were really rushed. The table I sat at was not clean, and the menus were located at the counter rather than on the tables, and had seen better days. The two menus I picked up were both torn and one was also sticky. I got the impression they are trying to do their best but attention to detail was lacking. My toast for example was served cold. I found the prices really high and on the expensive side. The shop on the ground level is now empty which is not at all surprising as the prices were so high and out of reach for locals. Hoping the space will be filled with something valuable for the local community.

Sadly had a bad breakfast experience here yesterday.... have eaten breakfast here many times over the last few years and have even written a 5 star review before. I am sad to say that standards have slipped- yesterday's all day breakfast (x3) left all of us feeling very disappointed. The bacon was extremely tough, cold and old and the sausages have been changed to very low quality ones- and again old and cold (I had to leave one of mine it was that bad). Grilled Tomato also old and eggs weren't cooked properly (clear jelly left on the top)..... the only decent part of the experience was the lattes; hence the 2 star rating. The cafe also felt very grubby and in need of a deep clean. Our table was sticky and dirty. Won't be coming here again.

Stopped for lunch and my husband's ham egg and chips was a plate full of ham and could have served two people. Likewise my seafood salad was full of prawns and salmon and with the brown bread would have easily served two. The cafe was quite busy but the staff still had smiles on their faces and although they told us there would be a wait we didn't wait very long.

Went for lunch here today, not been for a while, very disappointing indeed. Had jacket potato, beans and cheese: hardly any filling, not hot enough and dry potato. Sandwiches were average. Hardly any choice of cakes. Farm shop also closed now. Such a shame, used to be a great place, food was lovely, now looks to be run down and getting ready to close permanently?

I booked a table for a family lunch as the cafe offers an above average selection of vegetarian and gluten free options. We were not disappointed, the gluten free quiches were tasty, full of flavour. The meat eaters were not disappointed with the burgers and lasagne. There were 14 of us, all the meals came together and the order was correct.

I go for breakfast here quite often and so far have not been disappointed. The Veggie breakfast is lovely and cleanly presented, the scrambled egg also is great.

The food is not that good and not well presented for the price they charge. Coffee - yuck. Won't be returning here.

Great latte, served here, with biscuits. We were nearly tempted by the lovely cakes they have on offer, but we will leave them for another visit. Plenty of space here with lots of tables to ensure that no attend how busy they are you can have a table and chairs to sit at. One of the lovely things are that to get to the cafe from their own car park you can go through their farm shop which has all the lovely local products to choose from.

We got here just before 11am for breakfast. We quickly made our way to the till to order our breakfasts, only to be told we couldn't anymore. When I queried the time, I was told they can only go by the till and the till says it's past 11 o'clock. It was clearly still before. We were out of the venue even before 11.

We were on an overnight stay and looking for a place to eat. We popped in on the off chance. Staff were very friendly and were able to accommodate us. My husband had the scallops starter and would highly recommend. I had the pate which was very nice. The prawn Thai curry was very nice. Would recommend but advise you book

Came away bitterly disappointed. This was to be a 'milestone ' birthday treat. We were looking forward to a beautiful afternoon tea with a table covered with a crisp, white tablecloth, laidened with delicious teatime treats overlooking Torbay. The experience was nothing like we had hoped for. No one to meet and greet us upon arrival. We were initially ignored then directed, not shown, to a cracked brown formica table 'set' for us with two paper napkins, knives and forks and two glass tumblers, in a corner, away from the main dining area and the window. Eventually, we were approached by Heidi, whom we assumed to be restaurant manager. We asked to be reseated and a table was cleared for us. We were served a pot of tea for two and awaited our food. An hour later, we were still waiting. During that time we witnessed several disgruntled customers complaining. Although there were three waiters present, we did not receive any service or attention from them. After an hour, Heidi reappeared and was very apologetic. She offered us a complimentary glass of Prosecco. Our booking had been for 3pm. By now it was 4.30. The food arrived and like the tea table, was nothing like we were led to expect. The sandwiches were not as described on the menu. Some of the fillings were spread so thinly that they were difficult to identify. The pastries were missing. The cakes were not the patisserie style fancies shown in the promotional pictures, but more like traybakes cut into different sized chunks and didn't seem particularly fresh. Our teapot was refreshed and we were given new cups and "saucers", which turned out to be side plates. Heidi did try to make us comfortable, but by that time, all hope of enjoying our afternoon was lost. We did ask a waiter for a box to take our cakes away but were told "We don't do boxes" and we're directed to a pile of paper napkins and told to help ourselves. The three saving graces are; At £25, it wasn't the most expensive afternoon tea. I would have paid more for a first class experience. Heidi did her best to keep customers happy, with what appeared to be very little support from her colleagues. Whatever the Imperial are paying her, it's not enough. The one thing that the hotel did deliver on was the magnificent view, but I give the Imperial no credit for that whatsoever. Lastly, I sent an email to the Imperial later that day, and to add insult to injury, now, almost a week later, have had no response. NB. Pictured - what the Imperial's advertising led us to expect. NOT what we got !

Returned after a couple of years to fine a beatifully refurbished bistro overlooking Torbay (ok it was misty) with a extensive menu. My confit duck leg was the best meal I've had for years and the seafood platter was equally good.

A easy place to get in to and plenty of space to move around on my mobility scooter. Both staff were very friendly and the pub had a good atmosphere. Drinks were cheap
