1st time visiting so didn’t know set up of seating or ordering. Lovely lady on the tills explained and when ordering the lady and counter staff couldn’t have been more helpful with explaining different drink options for my faddy teenager 😉 Coffee tasted fantastic and the bottled water came with ice and slice of lemon in the glass. My daughter had a brownie and she said it was lovely! I asked for my caramel flapjack to go…came in a lovely recyclable box and I’m looking forward to having it later. As we saw the meals coming by our table we both agreed we will be back for a meal. Seating was comfy and nicely spaced. Lovely friendly staff…the lady on the general till on the way out was just a lovely and friendly! Thank you ☺️

Ordered 3 full breakfasts and the veggie one that my wife wanted. To say that it was just ok is a stretch. I have worked in various hotels and restaurants since I was 14 and never have i seen food deep fried that was intended for a breakfast plate. The scrambled egg was absolutely swimming in water and tasteless, in fact the whole plate was tasteless, not a pinch of salt and pepper anywhere. The toast was the best part and even then it had been put on top of the butter so when the little butter pouch was opened you could literally pour it on the bread. I paid just over £50 for four breakfasts and four cokes, I could of spent less money and enjoyed food a lot more elsewhere

We have eaten here a couple years ago, and my son chose to come here for a rare 1 to 1 lunch date. I’m glad I didn’t read the reviews first as I may have been put off. I was expecting it to be very busy (the garden centre was given the weather and time of year!). But we easily found a table, and then went to order food and drinks. I ordered a cup of tea and my son a glass of milk. Tea was perfect :). I ordered tuna melt and my sons a children’s sausage and chips (with peas or beans). Portion sizes were good and the food was delicious. The waitress and cashier were both very pleasant and helpful. We will definitely return as we spotted some lovely dishes from the menu like fish and chips and ploughmans/ platter! I have a video in my instagram @houseofninjatravel

We came to choose some plants for the garden and to enjoy coffee and cake in the glasshouse. The plant section was underwhelming, we were faced with a sea of tables containing plants but without collections of plants put together to help with inspiration, which was lacking on this occasion and so we didn't buy anything. Next to the cafe...when the glasshouse was first refurbished it was a great place to visit, the waiting staff were always on it and enthusiastic and the food reliably good . Today we queued to be seated and were looked at a few times, whilst more customers joined the line, until we were finally seated, despite there having been empty tables all the while. The table was unceremoniously squirted and wiped and we were left to it. Whilst my other half looked at the menu I looked at the tables around us, piled high with leftover breakfasts. They were walked past, until about 20 minutes in they were eventually cleared. That brings me onto the next thing, so table service has been done away with and now we have to clog up the area at the front of the cafe, along with those waiting to be seated. I ordered 2 hot drinks, no cake because by this point we just wanted to get a drink and come home. Half an hour we waited. Two sets of customers who arrived after us were merrily chomping away on their full Englishes, whilst we were sat there wishing we'd saved our money. Good job we'd decided to go straight home after we'd finished our drinks, as on leaving the cafe the queue for the tills was so long, it was right outside the cafe entrance. I know there's a cost of living crisis on Coletta and Tyson and you're maybe feeling it as much as we, the customers are, however, your standards need to go back to where they were, because for now we won't be back and judging by other recent reviews left here, we're not the only ones, sadly.

We have visited this cafe for a number of years. The last few visits have been disappointing. Today we went for breakfast on our day off. We ordered 2 english cooked breakfast. They were almost inedible. The sausage, hash brown and slice of bacon had all been deep fried, they were greasy and overcooked and tasteless. As soon as we tucked in we both commented on the use of a deep fat fryer for bacon? Surely this should be grilled or shallow fried? The beans were cold, mushroom uncooked, toast was the most acceptable part of the breakfast. The service was drab and clear the lady didn’t want to be at work. When paying £26 for two breakfasts and two drinks, it’s not too much to ask to enjoy your meal. It’s a real shame because we love shopping at collettas and the cafe is beautifully decorated, but they really need to up their food standards.

One of us ordered quiche with chunky chips and when it came some of the chips were inedible. Requested a refund as we were leaving and were strangely offered another plate of chips or fries to replace them. Also told as had eaten quiche could not have a refund. Very disappointed in this response.

I had breakfast this morning with my husband. We were early visitors about 9.30 am. I was disappointed with the breakfast. The meal was only just warm, the bacon was tough, it didn't look freshly cooked and looked dry. The eggs were nice and these had quite obviously been freshly cooked. I had to rush eating the breakfast before it was stone cold. This is really disappointing when you expect a better standard. Service was good though.

Went to have a spot of lunch Wednesday 22nd November while shopping in the Garden centre. We were seated almost immediately. I went and ordered our food of 2 club sandwiches 1 Diet Coke & 1 apple juice. The drinks to be fair came fairly quickly & we expected a little wait for the food. 50 minutes later our food came & it wasn’t great, I didn’t know the bread would be toasted as it didn’t mention on the menu. It was brittle to eat so I left the bread. The lady opposite waited the same time for a sausage roll & a toasted tea cake but two ladies that came 15 minutes later than us got their order of a jacket potato before us all. There doesn’t seem be any kind of continuity in the order customers are served. We don’t live local to this cafe but last tried it December 2022 and the experience then was even worse than this one, but it was a busy Sunday & we made allowances. I’m afraid there wont be a third visit. Serving staff however are very friendly

Service was slow, 50 minutes from seated to service and then one of the meals was an another 10 mins by which time the others had nearly finished their meal. The staff communication was useless as the waitress placed meals on table and said nothing so we sat wondering when food was going to arrive. When questioned at the end the manager said they had run out of peas whilst the waitress said they had run out of chips!! Neither seemed to know what was going on and of course we then had the very busy time, well you are a cafe with so many covers and it is lunchtime! The waitress dumped my coffee down on the table leaving me with a saucer full. They agreed to refund my late meal which I didn’t have time to eat but refused to refund the coffee as it was policy that they had to see the food and drink. All very shoddy considering the high prices.

What a complete shambles! A cafe full of empty tables and a long queue waiting to be seated but none of the staff seemed able to seat them. Eventually we were shown to a table which needed clearing so we asked if we could sit at one of the cleared ones which was permitted. The next hurdle was ordering tea and scones which we had to do at the till. However there was no one at the till and another queue formed. It seemed only one person could take orders while other staff just walked past the queue. The person who should have been on the till had decided to wipe tables, take 10 minutes to fetch a pot of mustard for a table while the people on it watched their food getting cold and pop to the till periodically to take one order then disappear again. The scones arrived but I had to go in search of knives which the staff had difficulty finding. Apparently a manager was on duty but the staff were certainly not being managed. They were not understaffed, they were just allowed to wander round with no particular responsibility and no guidance.

Wednesday lunchtime, not busy but rather noisy. Order at the till and pay up front, at which point given cutlery to take to table. I had a “prawn sandwich in rose Marie sauce”, almost a breach of the trades description act. The “prawns” were in fact tiny 15 mm shrimps. They were chewy, which suggests they were previously frozen and then defrosted too quickly. The sauce appeared to have been diluted. On the plus side the supermarket thin sliced bread and pot of tea were outstanding. Service of food to the table was adequate Ladies rest room apparently basic but clean and functional. At £9 this is high for a location a few miles north of Hull, but since it is attached to a garden centre, I didn’t have a choice while the wife was pottering about in the aspidistras ….

What is the point in that? No track and trace just a round piece of plastic that hundreds of people have touched and taken in the toilet with them!! Arrived for the 'eat out to help out deal'. Around half the tables occupied. Several people in the queue to be seated but nobody seating us. Lady and her family in front of us gave up waiting and left. After ten minutes we were seated but, after a further ten minutes, no order had been taken so we got up and left. Total lack of management. Nobody was talking to the queue and explaining the delay. The whole point of running a hospitality business is to make your customers feel welcome. Ignoring them, and making us feel like we are getting in your way, is not the way to do it.

Coletta was always a lovely place to pop in for an afternoon cuppa and an extensive range of tempting cakes obtained on a self serve basis. After an extensive refurb you are now met by a “greeter” who would like to squeeze you into a miserable corner of the cafe where there is no view. Coletta, the meet and greet is a big mistake as wherever you are sat the “greeter” sits you and you have to wait for someone else to take your order after a long time or are forgotten. We have now visited a number of times and it just doesn’t work. The time taken waiting to be sat, then for the order to be taken and then waiting for the refreshments is time taken when you could be spending money in the garden centre. We waited, were ignored and walked.

I dont understand why these places employ young kids with no restaurant experience. We went there today and never again, when we first entered there is a sign stating to wait here to be seated, a young female came to the desk and asked how many? we said two, she then said could we wait and some one will come and show us to a table the young lad who we were waiting for was taking an order from another couple, in the meant time there were four waiting staff talking at the counter, eventualy this lad came and took us to a table, why we were unable to go to a table ourselves was beyond me he left saying a waitress would come and take our order, why he couldnt take our order i will never know, he disappeared we waited for about eight minutes and no waitress came so we got up and left. I used to go to this place before they reinvented it and now its a bludy shambles, the staff are clueless obviously have never been trained correctly. I wouldnt complain if the place was heaving but there were about three other couples in a place with about a hundred covers. Why is it down to one person to seat and take orders, while other staff are stood around talking doing nothing, why cant all staff be trusted to take customers to a table in fact why cant the customers find their own table, your a garden centre cafe not i say again not a top of the range restaurant, you have as a cafe have aspirations above your capabilities. I wont be back and i will not recomend this place, in fact i will make a point of telling people not to visit this place.

After a disappointing visit in July this year we decided to give the Old Glasshouse another try thinking it may have improved. Sadly it hasn't. We were 'greeted' sourly by the front person (women with blonde hair and glasses) presume the manager. Who informed us that there was a 45 minute wait for food. We asked why as the cafe was only half full her reply was its the kitchen. The welcome was so poor it almost felt like we were imposing on her!We waited for 10 minutes and they brought out coffee and cake whilst we were awaiting our jacket potatos. The chocolate brownie was served dry and when we asked for some cream etc we were scowled at by the waitress. The thin sliver of cake for nearly £4 was left untouched as we left promptly . We informed the blonde women why we were leaving and her reply was "OK" no attempt made at customer service.Who ever has spent all the money doing what was a perfectly good cafe up needs to shake this staff group up!!We drove into Beverley and spent £40 on lunch at a welcoming establishment

I came on a Saturday, we ordered two cups of tea, 4 soft drinks. Food was 3 toasted tea cakes and three chocolate brownies for the children. 1st we recieved the tea cakes around 10 minutes after ordering, these where not hot but lukewarm. We had no drinks after 15mins we asked the waitress, where our drinks where and the children's brownies where. She responded with they are coming you need to wait. Very rude. We waited a further 15mins and asked again the waitress was rude yet again. We asked for the manager, we explained we had recieved the tea cakes but nothing else. She said she could not control what comes out the kitchen to what comes out the cafe area. Surely that is her job to control both areas and get them working together? She explained the cafe area was running behind due to a order of 3 milkshakes. By this point we ordered our drinks and cakes around 40 minutes previous. Surely 3 milkshakes cannot delay a full cafe by 40 minutes? The manager did not apologise or try and rectify the issue. We waiting a further 10 minutes before drinks and cakes came which where utterly disappointing. Teas where again lukewarm. Glasses for the soft drink very hot. Then the brownies where just on the plate cold no cream or anything. The children were very disappointed. I also inquired about nuts, as the baby has a serious nut allergy. The lack of knowledge on this from your waitress was shocking. She was again rude and so ill informed. He could not eat anything at the cafe. Then finally I went to pay, the manger said she would take my payment in a minute and walked off, not to return. I had to ask again to pay. when I asked for a receipt the girl told me the till roll was broke and I would have to wait for someone else to do it. At which point I just gave up. So from start to finish appalling service, below par food and a staff and manager alike need training on customer service and allergy awareness!

Top tip to management: You have many staff members who spend time just standing around, they need better supervision to ensure customers orders are taken promptly on arrival. Not often my daughter and I get an opportunity to have breakfast out so after an early trip to Hornsea, we were passing this garden centre, saw a sign advertising breakfast, and there we were. The waitress took my order (eggs benedict) and my daughter asked for 4 hash browns (they were available with full breakfasts but were not listed individually). We have never had an issue anywhere when requesting them like this. This day we did: they were not available because there was no option on the tablet (on which the orders were entered) to request and pay for them! Beggars belief that innovation could not be used or simply communicating verbally with the kitchen and then ringing it up as another item so they could be paid for. Not that difficult if you want to make money and have the cafe be successful. Won’t bother returning.

The surroundings are nice. The coffee is very nice, however overpriced and small cup. Had bacon sandwich which the menu description makes your mouth water (succulent crispy bacon) but be ready for disappointment to what actually turns up (fatty undercooked) again well overpriced. Waitress whilst very polite was trying to rush us off the table by presenting bill and asking how I wanted to pay when I hadn’t even asked for it or finished our drinks. There was a lot of staff stood around doing nothing which made me think if they cut the number perhaps they could lower their prices to be more realistic. My wife ordered the soup (as she has an eating problem) the soup was a small portion in a large dish and arrived with no spoon, We waited for the other mains, and waited and waited, only to be told they were not been prepared as the kitchen thought they were a follow up from the soup course. Even after being cooked again, they were still very under cooked and many were left. Not been for a while, not sure I like the change. In the cafe, you now have to wait to be seated, and it is waitress service. Staff are nice and polite, and the cafe looks nice, but the prices have gone up. It is now expensive, not sure you need waitress service in a garden centre cafe, it is more like a restaurant, and has prices to match. Don't think I will be going back for a while, cafe was empty when I visited, think that speaks for itself. Wish it was still self service.

The cafe menu is virtually non exsistant and overpriced. The temp cafe is draughty and freezing cold. Although blankets are provided, they don't make any improvements. Even the seats are cold. The owner just says 'Come back when the new cafe opens'. They say staff are excited, I don't think so, they are embarrassed. The staff are great. How they keep working in these Artic conditions and they still smile, I don't know. They can't even close an open outside door near the cafe.

Terrible place to eat we waited 40 minutes chased the order twice and eventually the bacon sandwich turned up, after biting into the second half it was sent back clearly that bacon was hours old one half was fresh and soft the other was rock hard and discoloured absolutely disgusted that they refused to refund out of principle I won't use the garden centre again.

I like this place but sometimes I am put off with the length of time it takes to get served. Then a long wait to get your order. No other garden centre seems to have this problem. The food is actually very nice, but such a wait, especially if you only want a coffee. Sorry but you need to do something about this. Such a shame.

Ordered our meal and paid, then 5 minutes later told they had run out of Korma! So we looked at the menu again chose what we wanted. At the till putting the order in asked for fish and chips then they said oh we don’t do that on a Sunday! So then we asked for steak pie! They didn’t have any of that left! We had already had our Luke warm hot chocolate, so we decided we’d had enough and we needed to go elsewhere. I understand at busy times things can run out but it was the attitude when they would only refund for the meals not had! I would have at least thought as a good will gesture we would get a full refund as way of an apology! The whole attitude of the manager was terrible, he blamed his staff for miscommunication and we were just told to contact customer services! We will not be returning!

We had a voucher for half price afternoon tea and as we had been here last year, was really looking forward to it. All I can say is “I’m glad we only paid £10”, because it was rubbish. Let’s start with what was on the plate. Sandwiches, mini pork pie, pigs in blankets, tiny piece of fruit cake, a mince pie and one tiny scone cut in half with jam and cream, a bit of mixed lettuce and a tangerine.

Went to buy a bag of compost at the garden centre(the Oasis Café is part of the garden centre). Well one VERY young person serving at the counter another doing drinks "down the line" .You ordered food from the first and your drinks were made up by the second person . There was a queue of about 10-15 people and it was taking ages to serve and take orders for food and then make up teas, cappuccinos bottled drinks and the like after standing in the same place for ages we decided enough was enough and walked out and went to the Beverley Garden Centre down the road where we found a queue but only had to wait a few minutes and were probably finishing our meal, I would think, by the time we would have been served at Oasis!!!

We have been fairly regular visitors here in the past but unfortunately we will not be returning. The menu had changed since our last visit, limited choice and expensive. I opted for mushroom soup (£5 was quite a hefty charge for a cafe) It looked truly awful and seemed to be liquidised mushroom pulp with cream swimming on top and looked very unappetising-like grey porridge. I couldn’t even manage to eat half the bowl. My partners tuna melt ciabatta was equally unappealing and oddly sliced down the middle like a hot dog roll with a small amount of tuna & cheese in the middle, making it difficult to eat and mainly bread. He also had chunky chips (which I believe cost an extra £2.50) These were not chunky, triple cooked chips as on the menu. They were a small pot of very dark brown, oily, thin chips. Again, not nice at all. Such a shame and I think they will lose a lot of loyal customers.

Called today for a snack to find the menu had changed. Very little choice two choices of toastie and four paninis this was carried on with wraps and three meals. Prices have shot up service very slow especially as not busy which we can now see why. We had a toastie each the 'bread ' more like cardboard crisps stale salad just lettuce we will not be going back. Such a shame as it was a very busy thriving cafe.

We visited on a quiet Wednesday morning, yet it was still incredibly noisy. Every time someone sat down/stood up, the scraping of chairs drowned out our conversation. Add on the noise of someone clattering and banging some metal pot ( which was something to do with the coffee maker) I was glad to get out for some peace.

My partner and I visited today at 1.15pm. The cafe didn't look too busy and the queue was fairly short. There was hardly anything left on the cold shelves apart from an odd few pieces of cake and scones and a few sausage rolls which quickly went. As we where waiting to be served the chef kept popping her head out to say that various meals where no longer available. The gent in front of us asked if there where any more sausage rolls in the back and the waitress went into the back and brought some more out. There was a 30 minute wait on hot food, so people where looking for other alternatives like cake etc but couldn't get those because the shelves where empty!! When it was our turn, I politely asked if there was any other cakes left only to be told that everything they had left was already out. We ended up ordering just a pot of tea and a deluxe hot chocolate, which was cold when my partner got to the hot chocolate beneath the cream. I can't believe that on a Sunday lunchtime at 1.15pm, a cafe doesn't have enough food available to cope with demand. My partner and I use this cafe an awful lot when we visit the garden centre and we have seen it an awful lot busier on other occasions than it was today. Perhaps more staff needed and better food planning, to cope with supply and demand in the future.

Like coming here-not usually disappointed, probably because we usually have sandwich & tea, so you can't go far wrong. Today we went a bit later around 2p.m & decided to both have a cheese scone. The service was slow, as only one person dealing with the drinks-I am sure there is usually two- and people in front wanted lattes and capuccinos, which seemed to take ages. We sat down and halfway through our scones we both said this is dry-it was though it had been out out at10/11 o'cclock and was getting stale very quickly in the heat. First disappointing visit we have had-hope next time is better.

The food arrived, I had ham eggs and chips and it was awful the ham was pulled apart and not very fresh, the eggs were hard and the chips not very hot, my husband had sausages and mash and the potato was hard and cold. The music was so loud you couldn’t hear yourself think. We will not be returning as this was a very poor meal, and a waste of money, the quality of food has dropped considerably since our last visit.

Ordering, paying and delivery system needs a review ? Seems disjointed and slow and time consuming. Pot of tea wash fresh and hot and good quality t bags used. Sausage roll very bland and had to be delivered to table 10 minutes after ordering because we wanted it hot. Lime and ginger cake was lovely but expensive for small portion. Comfortable sating area with sofa and easy chairs in addotion to traditional 'kitchen table and chairs'. So overall a very mixed experience

Came in with two kids for a sandwich and baked potato . Had to go back 35 minutes later and ask where it was - shambolic in that said they couldn't find us - odd given we were in the kids area and had stated so . Absolutely no effort to find us...food then appeared, lukewarm at best as clearly had been under a hot plate. Real issue is the poor service and customer care - or lack of. Beware of this if you have kids as far from enjoyable experience having to wait and then be poorly treated thereafter

Looking forward to a hot chocolate and scones on a Sunday afternoon in December. Granted the place was very busy but the quality of food/drink was absolutely dire. Firstly, there was quite a queue waiting for drinks, but no apology for the wait was given. The hot chocolates were made to order as normal, but on serving, they were filled with lumps of un-melted powder and looked distinctly unappealing. I mentioned this to the assistant who offered to take them back and re-stir which she did. However, this made no difference and we were faced with lump hot chocolate. We all had a different scone, cheese, cherry and fruit. All came with butter and we settled down to enjoy - how wrong we were. All the scones were very dry, even with butter. In particularly the cheese one did not taste of cheese, just a sprinkle on the top and was the driest of the bunch. The fruit one was also very dry, making it hard to swallow. The cherry one was passable but on the whole, we would assume that these were stale on this occasion.

A special offer indicating £8.99for afternoon tea (usual price £ for two attracted us to visit what is normally an outstanding café. However, we were very disappointed with the offering that constitutes an afternoon tea. We were asked if we wanted the deluxe which I declined not realising that scones were not included in the standard offer. Therefore, we paid £8.99 for 4 small sandwiches, bite size sausage roll, bite size quiche and 2 small cakes (each) with a pot of tea. Very disappointed not to get a scone. I certainly wouldn't pay that again for such poor content of food.

Visited this cafe midweek with a voucher from the Cottingham times for afternoon tea for two £8.99. The cafe was very quite considering the offer for the above was on.Our table looked like it had been wiped over with a damp cloth that had left markes on it. The service was good, the staff were polite and friendly. The afternoon tea was a little disappointing, the ham sandwich was covered in mustered and the beef had horseradish on as my husband and myself do not eat either of these relishes I took them back and they exchanged with out question. I did suggest that it might be a good idea to ask the customer first if they would like any relishes on their sandwiches rather than putting it on. It was very good to get ham and beef in the sandwiches. The buns were very plain sponge but were fresh as were the sandwiches.there was also tiny sausage rolls and kech which were good. The cafe reminds of of a canteen it's in like glass house. It lacks something. It needs revamping. Will not be returning.

Sandwiches awful - bread was cold and damp and the sandwiches were stuck together (clearly had been made earlier and closely packed.
