I had a drinks and some shortbread which were very good and it wasn’t very expensive it is quite but still has people and is always a good temperature

Called in quickly on a quiet Friday late morning. I saw the ‘breakfast roll and coffee’ offer so I picked up a sausage bap. The staff were not welcoming or attentive. They were chatting to each other despite me stood at the counter. Eventually I was served. Even then in was clearly an inconvenience for the girl. The man was taking out large bags of rubbish, that clearly had whole loads of bread etc of gone off products. Such a waste. My roll was heated up and I got my coffee and headed home. I was then really disappointed to find the roll was completely inedible. The bread was stale the whole was through. Like a rock. This wasn’t because of the toasting. This was clearly a product far past its best. Such a waste of £5.99 and I’ll never call in again. This branch needs looking at. They’re an embarrassment to the Costa brand.

Not impressed. There was very little choice (of cakes etc). There was only one person working there, so service was very slow.

Not enough staff. Holes in seats. Stairs need repairing. Not disabled toilet. There hasn't been a. Disabled toilet for over a year. Mangers rude and obnoxious. Poor younger staff totally taken advantage off

Visited today and was served by a young girl who was working alone when the place was really busy. She was extremely friendly, and very efficient making the drinks considering she was completely alone. The visit was enjoyable, until a slightly older lady walked in, (she had dark hair and was wearing a big puffa coat) and went behind the till area. She started to speak/shout at the young girl serving very sternly, began to fix a new menu board up (still in her puffa coat), pointed to the cake display and told the young girl to clean it and then left. I can only imagine this was the girls boss - it was extremely unprofessional to watch as a customer. No wonder the staff don’t stay working here very long when they are treated so poorly! Felt very sorry for the young girl working there.

Absolutely appalling - we went at 1pm so peak lunch time, just as the senior member of staff waltzed out of the building for their break leaving a TRAINEE barista completely on their own with a queue out of the door! Even at a quiet time this would be unacceptable. What would have happened if there had been a fire, a medical emergency, any other incident with no one around to help? I felt so sorry for the poor girl left to fend for herself - she had to ask me how to make my drink (just a herbal tea!) as she didn’t know what it was. Turns out they were out of stock but didnt want to burden her with the faff of issuing a refund so just went without. The fridges and snacks were empty, pastry case was a mess. Dirty toilets with no toilet roll or soap.

Absolutely disgraceful attitude towards us customers, not friendly very rude and obnoxious she wore glasses and a tight bun. She had zero people skills and it’s very unfortunate as I know some of the staff are very polite and can do there job with a smile on there face. She made us feel as though it was such a chore to make our drinks and as if we were stupid. I will not be returning to this costa!

Popped in for a coffee and sausage bap. Food was great though took forever to wrap poorly. Coffee took forever as only one person serving. When the queue got to the door another person appeared!

Nobody in as the fridge was broken, no sandwich or toastie, just a muffin and drink.

When you walk in your greeted by the staff. The food is good the best part is the drinks.

Lives up to the reputation of worst costa in the UK. Long waits, no change, cold coffee, dirty premise. There are some lovely coffee shops in Pocklington go to any of those instead! Avoid this one! deserved its one star food hygiene rating. Complained online and got one of my drinks refunded.

Coffee was only luke warm, complained and it was replaced but was told that was how they serve it and i should have asked for hot coffee. Toilets were filthy and door to upstairs kitchen/staffroom was open and that was really untidy and did not give a good impression.

Disgusting! The trays are gross, rubbish on the floor. When the staff were talking about cleaning up one said does it even look dirty as though to get out of cleaning. Coffee machine needs properly cleaning the coffee tastes burnt. One positive the air con works

Had coffee there yesterday afternoon, served in takeaway cups despite the fact we were sitting in. We were the only 2 in the place so not rushed off their feet. Both toilets out of order. Looking at previous reviews these have been out of order for at least a fortnight. Staff suggested going across to the pub to use their facilities! Music so loud we could barely hold a conversation. Worst Costa ever. Only positive is the air con was working.

let me say firstly, i love costa. but not this one , horrid music, wet tables, egg mayo sarnie with no mayo, dry and unpalatable, and last , but no means least toilet out of order. worst costa ever.

I have visited this costa a few times recently and have noticed that the tall blonde lady, possibly the manager or leader, is quite aggressive and abusive towards her staff. Many of which seem to be younger individuals. On one occasion I was ordering a coffee and this lady put an alternative milk in and blamed it on her co-worker. She then continued to kick things behind the counter and huff and puff about it. She doesn't seem like the most approachable person and even though I understand she is probably trying to run a tight ship, being abusive to her younger co-workers doesn't solve any issues.

The overall impression is good. But one thing is just disgusting. The tall admin girl with blonde hair (sorry, I don’t know the name) is very-very-very abusive towards ALL her coworkers. She is definitely a hard-worker. But her all-the-time-rolling eyes and pressure she puts toward her colleagues is just disgusting and very disappointing. They would 100% cope without her, but her presence makes their hands trembling. I visit Costa every day, and I am always very happy when she’s not at the till. This abusive and selfish behaviour is just awful :(

Very scruffy, the staff where quite rude to a disabled gentleman struggling with his payment. The toilet was disgusting it needs replacing it looks like a toilet in a truck stop. We sat in but got given takeaway cups because the staff member said she was on her own yet there was another girl there.

Excellent drinks but could only get sweet gluten free food.

Nice place for a quiet morning coffee

If I could give this dump a zero I would. I've been going to Costa in Pocklington since it opened and after my experience today I am compelled to write this review. The quality, cleanliness and customer service of this coffee shop has taken a serious nose dive over the last couple of years and today it's reached it's low point. My fella ordered me a medium latte with extra shot (3 shots....as I have been ordering for years so know exactly what it should taste like) and what I got was a cup of warm milk, water and a hint of coffee. I looked at it and the drink was just off-white and opaque ....meaning it's barely got any coffee in it. He drove all the way back to return it, where they duly re-made it....and it was the same! When he challenged them again the older lady serving got defensive (!!) and started to defend her appalling coffee (in front of other customers!) and insinuated that this drink should taste like that (like gnats piss watered down with water). He explained that we've been getting the same coffee for years and it NEVER tasted this awful. In the end he forced her to add another shot....and it still tasted like dish water....at that point he just took the slop of a drink and left. As well as making the worst coffee I have ever had (tasted like they'd made 4 coffees with one filter of coffee, but it also tasted stale), the place is FILTHY. It looks like a storage room for a cheap dive with dirty tables, angry under-skilled staff and disgusting toilets. DO NOT GO TO THIS COFFEE SHOP....IT'S DISGUSTING, HAS APPAULING STAFF AND FOUL COFFEE.

Members of staff looked un happy didn’t welcome us at all and forgot to do part of our order we had to clear the table from before we sat down and then watch one member of staff go outside on her phone whilst there was customers waiting disappointing Costa is going down hill

Clean, friendly staff, it's what you'd expect from a Costa really. I'd recommend dropping by if you're in the need of a coffee!

Nice and clean. Quick service. Yummy drinks and food (we had a latte and a tea, a bacon sarnie and a chocolate twist) Nice atmosphere, happy customers and friendly staff (Kirsty). Excellent new manager (Elle) who has improved this Costa tenfold. Thank you for a lovely breakfast! We will be back again soon!

We walked in and got hit with "where not taking orders" when asked why she said we don't have any milk after saying that we don't take milk the reason changed to where to busy and I've got to much cleaning to do there was 2 tables full so clearly not busy this was appalling just pure laziness

Costa tea is always great but the special about this branch is its location and decorations. Staff are so nice as well.

Service was so poor think it was manager who treat her staff very poorly and I could see her colleagues getting a bit frustrated, I later then asked for a receipt from the manager and while I was waiting 5 mins she started serving other customers. Everyone is very polite but the lady in her early 20s with brown hair was very rude.

I’d love to know why Costa head office think it’s appropriate for one poor girl to run this place by herself. Not only is it frustrating for customers to wait 40minutes to get served and sit at dirty tables, surely it’s not safe for the staff member.

Not the staffs fault understaffed slow service one person serving! Disabled toilet not clean but dues to lack of staff! No WiFi strange for a Costa? Not the best experience avoid plenty of alternatives in Pocklington.

I'm usually assured of good service at Costa pocklington. Today they were using takeaway cups I had ordered a large latte both takeaway cups leaked from the bottom The staff had to give me my coffee on a proper cup but it took ages and the were not busy. I was not informed that the service were to be in takeaway cups had I known I would have gone elsewhere. When my coffee arrived I had already eaten my food. I am distressed as I expected a good service and would it not be reasonable to alert customer to any service changes. Disappointed customer

Normally never a problem but went in today , wasnt acknowledged, then whilst we were going to order the barista totally ignored us and started serving the people behind us.Took our custom else where wont be going back

On this occasion I waited in queue for 25mins due to 2 large families in front , 1 lady then me. One lady serving and trainee batista.i know people have to learn a job, but surely Costa could have put one more person on as well.to be fair the lady serving did apologise to each customer.

Very Good as per usual with most Costas. It can get full during peak times and though there is an upstairs seating area, it is usually empty and doesn t have much atmosphere.

Ideally situated in the centre of this charming little town, this branch of Costa is a pretty average example of the genre, with good coffee, friendly service and spacious though not particularly attractive seating areas. Not a lot else to say really - it does what it says on the tin.

Went in for lunch, only one member of staff working didn't have the time to wait

The most filthy Costa I have ever been in! The cutlery is all disgusting and coated in dirty coffee stains and even cream. İt's like nothing is washed. The glasses, coffee cups and saucers aren't much better either. I had to stop my daughter before using a long spoon to eat her treat, because the spoon looked like it had just been put on the tray after the last customer used it to eat a sundae with. This isn't a one off, it's all like it and has been for months. Do yourself a favour and go in one of the many other coffee shops in town, avoid catching something.

Even though Costa was busy I was served with a smile, and the gingerbread latté I had was lovely 😁

Popped in here for a couple of lattes to take away. Waited in queue for good 15 mins despite only 2 people in front of me. 3 servers, no clue!! Finally got my lattes to find I had nothing but luke warm milk with a slight hint of coffee. By now queue was out the door and I had no time to go back, we ended up throwing them in the bin along with the £6+ they cost me. This is the worst Costas I have been to. The servers need to get their act together and be given proper training. Never again!!!

This Costa needs to take a hard look at itself. Stained crockery is not a way to impress clients. In general, Costas don't do tea very well, in my experience. Usually over-milked. Need to find a way of letting customers add their own milk.

Needs a good clean and a lick of paint. Staff were really nice though.

I just popped in for a small cappuccino, the young girl called Chrissy? she was at the coffee machine, making my coffee. Was so quick made my drink in like a minute despite the queues. It was the best one that I've had in ages missed costa during lockdown. Definitely give that girl a pay rise.

The other day, I went to costa to grab a coffee and meet with some of my girl friends (obviously we couldn't drink inside) and due to the whole pandemic I was kind of a bit nervous about going out and into my local coffee shop as I haven't been out for ages. But the lovely brown haired girl working the till was very kind and made me feel comfortable as she was so professional with her work, making sure that all the utensils and work areas were wiped down and clean. Not to mention the caramel latte that she made for me was absolutely delicious, will definitely be back in for another! :)

The staff are friendly but that's about as good as it gets. Service is always slow which I think is an under staffing issue. I had to step over bags of rubbish to use the downstairs loo. Far from ideal. I don't like leaving bad reviews but I'd expect better.

On what must be one of the busiest days of the year, (Xmas market ) there was clearly not enough staff to run this branch successfully.The poor girls,3 off, were completely run off their feet & that was not because of poor skills or application.Looking at previous reviews where is the responsibility of senior management which appears to be sadly lacking.As I said to the girls on leaving well done for coping in such an unpleasant environment

Costa is gaining a reputation for queues and keeping people waiting for coffee. Barista had to re do one previous order due to which added to the delay. Nice hot coffee but pity about slow service with just 2 staff on duty.

Visit Sunday 13 Oct at 11:00. Service was extremely slow, only 8 customers in, the tables were dirty full of used cups and plates. We had to clean our own table as did others. Food debris on the floor, table legs and between the partitions. Not a great experience 🙁

The Pocklington Costa really is a shocker! I’m a regular customer but not as much as I used to be. The people that own this place, Cuppacoff based in Wembley really need to get involved. The staff, who really work their socks off, are simply not supported. Firstly there isn’t enough of them and secondly they don’t stay around long enough as they seem to work 24/7! Yesterday there was an experienced but slow guy making coffee and a newbie serving. On a Saturday!! Hopeless management by Cuppacoff!! Due to lack of staff the place is dirty, the tables sticky and nothing gets tidied away when busy. All the good staff leave. I presume the pay isn’t brilliant? Come on Owners, sort this out or sell it to someone who can if you don’t care.

Waiting for the order for around 20 minutes 2 coffees and 2 toasted sandwiches. Not a pleasant experience.

Coffee great. Toast amazing but why are costa's so cold. The girl did turn the air con off for us & put the heating on so thank you so much for that. The staff had fleece jackets on & customers Sat in their coats!!! I refuse to sit & eat lunch in my coat. Why don't you just save money & turn the air con down?

Loud lad slobbed over the counter playing on his phone with random bursts of singing, young girl with clothes that have never seen an iron! One other customer in, dirty tables, food bits on the window ledge, dirty pots on the table. Pay peanuts you get monkeys with no incentive to work! Management need to learn their job and how to man manage, they need to improve on all counts

Very poor. Staff more interesting in messing around behind the bar than working. Poor drinks prep. Frostino little more than some barely flavoured milk with large chunks of ice.

I visit this Costa most weeks to pick up hot chocolates for me and my colleague. Staff are always really friendly and welcoming! Have nothing bad to say! Service is always excellent when I go in!

Always good BUT!! your pieces of Caramel crisp are getting steadily smaller. Don't think we haven't noticed.

Called in with my wife for a coffee and brownie. Slow service due to staff constantly chatting instead of serving. Sat upstairs, but never again. Young man in kitchen doing the dishes. The noise of crockery being thrown about was like being at a Greek wedding. I had to ask him to keep the noise down. Coffee came without milk so I asked the assistant for some. She said she would get a member of staff to bring it up, but it didn’t arrive. I had to get it myself by which time my coffee was luke warm. This place needs some serious management to address the appalling customer service. I won’t be going back until I see the reviews improving.

Handy for a cappuccino after a wander around Pocklington. Only let down was they had run out of chocolate powder for my wife's Mocca!
