Oaks Coffe Shop in Cherwell

Toilet (old, worn out portakains!) was absolutely filthy. Shocked to see a cat roaming around the cafe for at least half an hour. Not helpful if you had assistance dog with you Staff were incredibly slow, rude, with absolutely no customer service skills at all. Big queue due to lack of efficiency. Waited over 10 minutes to get to the servery counter. Roof was a disgrace. Literally black in parts but all over dirty. Chairs had food down the sides of cushions which had been there for a long time.. Table was dirty, wet and grimy. Atrocious. Won't be returning. A shame, because prior to Covid, it was a different place altogether.

I have been using the garden centre and the coffee shop for many years - it appears to have all gone down hill With Dry sandwiches customer services hell and was told I was liar to my face and was argued with on a few occasions All I ask is that when a company states they will do something, they do it. Fortunately I can count and something they seem not to be able to do I will not use this facility again nor my friends or for work Lunch meetings. Customer service goes a long away

Pleasant, relaxing cafe within the garden centre. Not far to walk from the car park. Good choice of snacks for the time of day we visited. Fairly priced food and drinks, coffee is excellent, always a good selection of cakes at reasonable prices. Staff efficient, courteous and friendly. Cafe spotlessly clean. Dog friendly. Outdoor seating for warm weather, toilet facilities. Could not fault it at all.

Awful customer service very rude woman working behind the till elena I think her name was, hate to name and shame however for a coffee shop that is largely aesthetically pleasing the coffee, staff and food are just a disappoint, the so called managers stand at the front and seem to spend the morning vaping instead of greeting customers. What a disappointment. Won’t be returning.

This is a really nice little coffee shop but the afternoon tea is such a let down. The bread was crusty like it had been left out, 4 tiny finger sandwiches per person. There was plenty of cake and lots of variety but the hair in one slice was not ok. Only tea included, I had to pay extra for the black coffee even though I wasn’t having tea. £15 per person was way overpriced for what we were served. Next time I’ll go to M&S. The staff were nice and the cake tasty, but won’t be going again.

Awful overpriced food …asked for sandwich it came having been made with the crust of the loaf..sent it back..next one came out cut in half instead of diagonal..all the cheese fell out as no butter on bread. You couldnt write it 😂 will not return. Awful attitude of the girls working in the cafe.

Very limited menu so we ordered jacket potatoes. The tuna mayonnaise had very little if any mayo and was very dry. No butter on potato. Potato with cheese and beans marginally better but cheap hard beans. The cake is the saving grace however taste was remarkably similar to the ones I make at home courtesy of Betty Crocker! We live 5 mins up the road and this is convenient however I won’t be returning.

Very disappointed by the lunch we've had today. We both had jacket potato with filling of choice. The board said 'with salad garnish'. Well it came with a tiny amount of 'greenery' and some small pieces of diced pepper. No tomato, no cue!!? It looked at best 'miserable' on the plate and I would have been embarrassed to have charged anybody £6.95 (each) for that. In addition we asked for the table to be wiped, which was done by a very nice young lady (she's probably the saving grace of the whole place). The table was filthy. It was a monday lunchtime visit and so I'm sure hadn't been done since the weekend trade. Won't be going back.

Beautiful food lovely cakes and sandwiches. Cannot eat dairy and this was accomodated without an issue. Last minute change in weather and we collected our order again no problem at all ❤️ would highly revommend. Staff all very friendly and very good value for money. Thank you for making our anniversary very special

First time coming to oaks and i will never come again! The food was awful and very expensive, even the hot chocolate was like water/ milky not a very nice taste! We don't get to go out much and this was such a waste of time, the floors were dirty so was the chairs and tables! dust was just about every where, then only one young lady doing all the hot drinks taking order and working the till people were having to stand and wait. Its not really worth visiting the garden centre (if that's what you would call it) even though you have to go passed it! £1.99 for one primrose! inside was just a mess shelves were bare and dirty, cobwebs just about everywhere! Honestly Don't Waste Your Time!

ordered lunch ..tuna panini and bacon sandwich on white bread we got tuna baquette that was of garage standard not £5.95 standard and the bacon sandwich was on brown bread not white as requested. we have been several times and the order is always wrong .the cook .I'm sure does the orders wrong on purpose as I've seen other people get theirs wrong and he laughs about it . I wont be eating there again

Disappointing lunch today and the service was lacking too. There were bugs on two of the salads, which we sent back. One returned, minus the lettuce, but bugs still resided on the tomato. Nothing came back in replacement of the second salad, bearing in mind that we had paid 8.95 for a small bowl of ‘broccoli cheese bake’ which now had no salad. Even more disappointingly, no one came out after to check that we were happy with our meals or even to apologise. Needless to say, we won’t be returning.

Nice catch up with a friend sat outside nice seating area . Cakes were yummy staff friendly. Lovely gifts to buy and gardening gifts .

I ordered a chicken and bacon salad which was an uninspired bowl of cucumber, tomato, iceberg and peppers with a dollop of chicken and bacon sandwich filler on the top. I felt it was too expensive (pub prices) and the portions of cake and chips were small. It’s very popular though... every table was full on a Monday lunchtime!

Myself and my wife went for a breakfast today and it was excellent and great value for the money. We will definitely be returning. The coffee was first class and was included in the price. Highly recommend

My husband and I decided to treat ourselves to a full English Breakfast Sunday morning as they serve up until 12 noon. We arrived about 11.30 (perhaps this was our mistake). The young ladies taking our order were delightful and we took our drinks and waited for our breakfast to arrive. The sausages were anaemic but were somehow over cooked (we could hardly cut them up) and the toast was stale (I know you could argue it was toast but it wasn’t nice). We have had breakfast there before but it is quite a while ago. Needless to say we won’t be having a breakfast again. We do however like going there for coffee and cake (again on a Sunday with my sister and her husband).

Have eaten here several times in the past but the lunch we had today was quite poor. Bread seemed stale and salad lacking. My friend had soup but said her bread was poor too. Seems like the men serving and cooking lunches are easily distracted and got the order wrong as they were too busy chatting about their social lives and looking at their phones

You get a nice coffee here with a good taste. Much better tasting than Costa coffee. Cake is good too.

Nice coffee and cake nice seating area outside but now overlooked by a new housing development. Staff always polite and friendly

Hidden gem, went to visit the local garden centre and found this beautiful cafe inside, first class service and fresh food at good prices.

You get a great coffee here it is my favourite place to go. Nice cakes great service and you can take your dogs outside.

Popped in for Sunday lunch today. It cost £10 and consisted of half a carrot, 3 very well done potatoes, half a parsnip, 1 piece of broccoli (size of 50p coin) and a Yorkshire pudding. Lots of people unhappy with their meal and staff said they had run out of lots of things. We waited for 45 mins for dessert. There were no more than 4 tables so no idea why. We asked for a refund and left. Pretty poor all round.

Pleasant enough staff but the cafe was cold and basic. The cake was nice but very little choice when we called in. Overall OK but with so many coffee shops these days it feels like they need to up their game a bit

After coming out from auction house looking for a coffee shop we ended up here. Looked ok but soon disappointed . Good coffee and tea ok, But down hill after that.

We love a good jacket potato or sandwich for lunch, and you can get both at Oaks (tho be sure to get there early for potatoes - they're popular!)

Pequeño y encantador café y chica lo suficientemente agradable detrás de la caja, se ve contrarrestada por el servicio del 'camarera/cocinera 'llevando la comida. Si no puedes ser educado, no hacen un buen trabajo al cliente y si estás teniendo un mal día, dejar atrás en casa. Puede también haber servido la comida a nosotros a través de frisbee. Una sonrisa cuesta nada! La orden era un poco mal, pero yo estaba demasiado temerosos para decir nada. Espero sea lo que es, en sí fastidiando resuelve rápidamente

Paramos para desayunar esta mañana. Me dieron un desayuno inglés cocinado y mi esposa tenía un sandwich de huevo frito caliente y tomate. Ambos eran muy buenos y acompañados de un buen café. Aunque no pruebe, la variedad de tortas y pasteles parecía muy tentador y delicioso. La camarera, muy amable, nos ofreció agua para nuestro perro sin preguntarnos: estábamos sentados afuera, donde se admiten perros.

I ordered a jacket spud. You could tell it was done in a microwave as it was all shrivelled up. It was a very small spud and not value for money. Bagettes were only just cooked bread rather pale and doughy. Would not recommend

Muy decepcionante. El servicio era terrible. No pude conseguir una sonrisa si la señora que parecía estar a cargo. Me parecía un poco molesto por deigning para estar en la cafetería.

What a treat lovely cakes tea and coffee,good snacks as well,we sat in the sun it was splendid the service was good although you must give them time when they are busy.....who's in a rush just sit and enjoye......also the garden centre is worth a visit.....nice for kids too

Hemos estado en Oakes algunas veces, pero hoy en día la comida y el servicio era pobre, la señora que sirve no podría llevar a ella decir por favor o gracias al servir la comida o llevar la comida a la mesa. El panini sólo han demostrado el grill, hacía frío y el queso era sólido y no se evapora. Parecía que había turbado cuando más de una mesa intentó pedir comida resultante de una persona para conseguir su alimento tras el resto terminado. Como muchos lugares ahora tienen cafeterías y menús de almuerzo creo que van a tener que subir su juego a estancia popular.

Good coffee, nice cake and the lunches looked good too, because of this I am sure we will be back to save us cooking. In the good weather you are able to sit outside and enjoy the peace a quiet of the countryside.
