I’m Portuguese and I’ve been trying to find a typical Portuguese restaurant in Reading/London. This is the one, the quality is amazing, the staff is incredibly nice and the food is as typical as it can get so be assured you’re getting the right Portuguese dishes.

Best Portuguese restaurant in Reading. The food, the wine, the atmosphere, the staff, everything is wonderful! Definitely worth a visit! PS: The rice with seafood is fantastic!

Just thought we would pop in. Never realised that this restaurant is really Portuguese to it core, we were the only people not ordering in the language. The food (pork and clams and a steak in pepper sauce), we’re simply outstanding, food cooked by people who know what they are doing. I noted that a previous reviewer had said that the staff were rude, what utter rubbish, they were all a delight, happy and smiling and guided us expertly through lunch. Come here for authentic Portuguese food, I have already texted some of my friends to tell them what they are missing. Come here for a real treat, you will be glad you did!!

My best friends and I traveled from Nottingham to Reading for a late birthday celebration , we could not have chosen a better place . O Português staff made us feel welcome and nothing we asked was too much. the food was amazing the menu is in season with many of our favourite Portuguese dishes. We were spoiled the food and drinks were delicious . This family run restaurant is a place to be , 5* we will be back soon . Thank you for the experience

I went with a friend for a meal on a Sunday lunch with a quite high expectations and slightly disappointed in the end. I was expecting a Portuguese restaurant and the atmosphere was more Brazilian than Portuguese even the name of the restaurant is O Português. A huge menu sometimes doesn’t mean quality and most of the dishes with rice and chips as a garnish. I had the special of the day salted cod with prawns and was “ok”. The desert very disappointing has I was expecting a traditional leite creme and was literally something very fake in presentation and flavour. The Brazilian music was really high volume and making difficult keeping a conversation. A Portuguese restaurant should play Portuguese music have a better decor and a more exciting menu!!

We’ve been here several times and we keep coming back because we love their food (the Portuguese cuisine is so rich and tasty), the staff is nice and the owners are always around to chat with the customers.

Visited for lunch. Easy street parking nearby ( 2hrs) or 5 mins away in Palmer Park. Quiet but apparently can be busy evenings/weekends. Family run business. Staff and owner keen to please and could not have been more welcoming. Nice dining room at back as well as simple tables outside. Authentic Portuguese dishes. Good value. Deserves to do well.

Me and my husband visited this evening and had an amazing meal. All of the staff were incredibly friendly, the food was absolutely delicious, and we will most certainly be coming back with our family and friends. I really couldn’t fault a thing.

Very bad customer service we had visited this place many times before never for food so we though we would try it and wow how disappointed we were! Food is awful and the staff are very very rude we waited well over one hour for our food and we was only the second table there not busy at all many times we tried to order drinks and it would get forgotten, at the end bill was wrong 4 bills later and still wrong and the manager was getting very aggressive and saying he does not take criticism very well? But you own a restaurant? Very bad experience here never to visit again or any of my family members or Friends…. Avoid at all costs waste of time and time and the prices are thru the roof for microwave poor quality food!!!!!!!

since being sold this building has been the home to several restaurants that have failed, this time round I really hope it succeeds a good venue with staff that have great front of house skills waitresses that are helpful, a good bar can also cope with take aways and has a deli we were looking forward to a great relaxing evening from the attention we received on arrival I know we can always make a bad menu choice but really when everything ordered turns out to be below expectation the evening is ruined - badly cooked chips over done egg rice with no flavour the sausage was most odd may be that was my bad menu choice the bread was OK but the pates were bad genuine portugues fruit juice was nothing more than a bottle of cheap apple juice for somewhere that is supposed to offer genuine Portugues and European food they need to do much better Would I give this place a second chance? It will take some time to pluck up the courage to eat their again

We had an excellent lunch at O Português in Reading. Congratulations to chef Elsa, whose magical touch with the freshest of ingredients provides for the best of traditional Portuguese cooking. Service was both professional and yet friendly, we were made to feel welcome from the moment we entered the restaurant. The menu covers a wide variety of traditional Portuguese dishes covering most tastes, the home baked bread is sublime. Do look out for the “specials”, these are worth investigating as they provide such gems as “cozido á portuguesa” - the fabled one pot stew loved through Portugal. Very good good value for money restaurant with a jovial and friendly atmosphere. *****

The fact that it was once a house, then tearooms lends the architecture of this Portuguese restaurant to be quite different from most I've been in; as well as outdoor seating there is a delicatessen, coffee shop, a TV room, two bars and two separate dining areas/rooms. They've used the space well when setting it up, being quite a large restaurant and at the same time offering snack options in their own setting. The food is authentic Portuguese cooked and served by Portuguese people. It's ideal for everyone from families, large groups, birthday parties and celebrations to casual diners. Spotlessly clean and COVID aware, the food they prepare is very good indeed; I decided to have Robalo (Sea Bass) with the usual compliment of boiled potato, carrot, green beans and a slice of lemon. The portion was huge and the fish was of excellent quality and cooked to perfection (£16) along with a bottle of a white Dao (£18.50) with Chocolate Mousse to finish (£4) and a 'bica' or expresso coffee (£1). The staff are polite and welcoming and , as you can imagine, there are many Portuguese speaking people who come to dine there regularly which gives you some confidence as to the quality and the authenticity. English is spoken by all to a very good standard. A bit out-of-the-way though not too far from Reading town centre, it's well worth a visit. As usual with Portuguese places, the prices are reasonable, the atmosphere relaxed and although service can be a bit pedestrian, this can be forgiven due to the quality of the food.

"My Warsaw" is an absolute gem! Their zapiekanka and pierogi are top-notch and make you feel right at home. The service always comes with a smile, and you can tell they put so much heart into everything they do. I’ve been a few times already and will definitely keep coming back. Wishing them all the best and hope they grow bigger- they truly deserve it!

We had festive afternoon tea with a glass of fizz, and I can say that the food was fantastic. The carrot cake was a particular highlight as it was light and full of flavour. The chefs take on a festive creme brulé was also very good as was all the other food. The service by YVETTE was second to none, and she does this business proud. I would definitely recommend trying this restaurant and the Festive Afternoon Tea !!

We had heard of this new Romanian restaurant in Reading and took our chance. It was a delight. The place has recently moved to be able to offer seating as well as take-away and deliveries. The small six-table dining area is tastefully decorated and the staff just wonderful. And the best part? The food is almost entirely home-made and genuinely Romanian. The prices are very reasonable, so this is good value for money. This was a loverly discovery, and we will be back.
