We went there for a works lunch for 10 people and they did a special 3-course menu with 2-3 options. Bring your own drink allowed as well.

Popped in on a cycle ride for tea and a Welsh cake. Cosy cafe with a variety of sanwiches, pizza, cake etc. Served with a smile. Couple of chairs and tables outside. Does breakfast too. Bike friendly. Good value.

I had noticed this place had opened when I go to the butchers next door. The butchers there are supportive of zero-waste and have an increasing number of customers who take in their own boxes for serving in. I didn't realise until the end of our meal here that this bistro is high on the environmental and ethical scale too. Anyway I'd noticed that the held a tapas evening on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and when an opportunity arose a couple of weeks ago we decided to take advantage. My wife has had tapas a number of times before but I was grateful for the hostess to take us through the various offerings. A large bottle of water was brought to our table to start with and we also selected some soft drinks from the Fentimans range to accompany our meal. We shared bread with oils and vinegar to start and had a good mix of main dishes. My memory fades somewhat but I took a particular liking to the Meatballs in a sauce with a nicely piquant kick.. The salt cod was in the most delicate crisp batter and served with aioli. There were whole roasted mini green peppers in seasalt. A platter of Spanish cheese and ham (which came with more bread so we had a bit of overkill there) and patatas bravas. And we finished it all. All freshly cooked to order and it was very nice. The bistro can serve 20 (I counted the chairs!) but that number would make for a very cosy evening. During the day there are various deli and cafe offerings and there is also pizza available to either eat in or takeaway. This pizza is more of the Mediterranean type if you want a stuffed crust meat feast (and I do on occasion) then it may disappoint, however my wife had a simple one this evening and enjoyed it greatly. We were attentively served without any over fussing despite there only being one other couple for the early evening slot. Now I had being eyeing up the range of cakes and gateau on display and we decided we'd take a slice home with us. I asked for a piece to be put into a napkin as we were trying to be plastic free. I was told that all the packaging and products were either recyclable or compostable and that's when I noticed all the glass bottles and our cake was put in a little cardboard box. So although I would almost always limit an establishment like this to a maximum of 4 circles they get the fifth for that added value and extra bit of special service around their social responsibility. Guilt free, understated and supportive. Good work.

My friend and I visited on 25/1/25. It was very busy indeed. Where we were seated, the tables were close together. On the back of the menu it did say there could be a delay of 30-40 minutes for food during busy times. We decided to have a starter each pate and mushrooms which were ok but small portions We waited around 30 minutes before I asked how much longer our main course would be? I had the minted lamb shoulder My friend the lasagne.. My food was piping hot as if it had been in a microwave. I asked for black pepper. Despite twisting the cellar/pot hardly anything came out! The lasagne was in a very small dish consisting of just mushy mince with one layer of pasta and cheese. My friend was very disappointed. She had ice cream which was tasteless and most of it was left. It seemed there were only two members of staff serving. On the way out I caught sight of another dining area. It was practically empty. However, it reminded me of a canteen as the tables were very close together/in lines. We were glad to get out. I also overheard a lady saying 'It's changed..not like it used to be'.. My friend and I travelled from Birmingham and Derby. As you can imagine we will not be returning or recommending this place. All in all a very disappointing experience. Clearly the management are desperate to cram as many people in as they can.

What a wonderful little gem of a place! Have visited twice now in two weeks for tea and cake and a stroll around the garden. Cakes are amazing, staff are lovely and bring food out to your table. The walled garden is full of lovely plants, some unusual and the insect life and especially the dragonflies just a wonder to watch. Thank you 😊

Shame to see last management go but new owners have worked very hard to make it their own. Restaurant has nice decor and atmosphere. 3 Sunday lunches for us were lovely with friendly staff. My friend is waiting to see if a vegetarian option can make it on to the Sunday roast options but understand new owners are probably trying to get everything else sorted first that comes with running a new pub. Will definitely be back. Specials board for in the week looked excellent with steak and veggie burger on there. Hopefully can pop in on day off.

We camped in the Railway's carpark for one night on our way to an event at the NEC which is just a short drive away. The pub wasn't doing food that night but they said there'd be no problem in us ordering a takeaway and eating it in the bar; they gave recommendations for good local takeaways - and even provided plates and cutlery for us to eat it off. The staff couldn't have been more pleasant and welcoming, and the friendly locals in the bar also made us feel very welcome. Everyone made a big fuss of our dogs. Definitely recommended, and we'll be back.
