Nude Espresso in Tower Hamlets

This place used to prepare some of the best coffees in East London. Now they still sell some decent beans retail, but they do not appear to put much care in the coffees they prepare for immediate consumption. I went a couple of times and both times staff, while nice and friendly, did not appear to be properly trained for speciality coffee (if one wanted to put it rudely, one might say they did not have a clue).

Served a 'chocolately' inspired double espresso by two easy going staff members andI noticed a coffee blend called 'Hacienda', which made me think of 'Factory Records' 'rave' Manchester, Madchester and Gunchester! Cheers

My regular weekly treat is to come to Nude, but some great beans and enjoy a coffee. The coffee guys are really friendly and laid back. Usually good music too.

Pricey but well worth a visit to this ethical cafe. Down a back street near Spitalfields it is quaint and quality combined.

Stopped here on a recommendation from a tour guide. Such yummy coffee and we also decided to stay for brunch which was a very good decision. The service was lovely and the eggs Benedict with salmon was delicious.

Place looked nice from outside and been wanting to try for long time now. Finally yesterday I went there with a friend and was a bit disappointed. The coffee was average, nothing to celebrate, and the staff was very rude, specially a gentleman who seemed to be kind of in charge. I was not planning to make comment but I've seen other reviews talking about the same. If you are desperate for a coffee and you are in the area, I'd recommend you going somewhere else.

Coffee was nice, the atmosphere was also great but the girl that served me on till was pretty rude, she had this really bad attitude and looked at me in a pretty bad way. I would not allow any of my employees to serve and speak to my costumers on the way she did with me even if they are having a bad day!! You are at work!! . It was a blonde girl, Greek or Spanish by her accent, I couldn't really see her name. In my opinion somebody that is not trained enough or doesn't want to be facing the public shouldn't be doing it. I will not come back or recommend Nude anymore even that I love your coffee, I just felt pretty bad when I left the shop as I never did before.(I was a regular costumer) Nevertheless I never felt treated that way before by the rest of employees and I do love the coffee.

Followed the tourist trail and stumbled across nude espresso just of brick lane. Ordered a flat white and was very good. The place gets busy due to a lot of tourists so service is a little slow.

I was meeting a colleague for a breakfast meeting. Having arrived in the pouring rain at 7.57am, I walked through the open door to be told ‘we are closed, we open at 8, you’ll have to wait outside!’ My reply ‘are you seriously telling me I have to stand in the rain, and cant just sit there quietly?’ Reply ‘yes, I am’ - had my colleague not have lost their phone, id have gone elsewhere. #customerserviceatitsworst We spent £42 on a coffee, a very weak cup of tea and two breakfasts (single slice of sour dough toast, one poached egg, mushrooms and a slice of tasteless bacon) - £50 note payment was rejected, without it being checked and without apology! Good job we had other means to pay. One of your baristas (she wore a wooly hat) was lovely & friendly with every customer. The table server was sweet but clearly inexperienced, not least as she delivered our food with a mouthful of food in her mouth. As we left, the member of staff - who saw me off into the rain to wait - threw a less than sincere ‘sorry about that guys!’ at us. We wont be rushing back any time soon.

Found this while walking around Spitalfields / Brick Lane. Had their pourover coffee for GBP as a pick-me-up and I really enjoyed the fragrant scents and subtle fruity flavor. That said this isn't a coffee review and that cost 4GBP (it's 3 average teacups), which is steep if you're used to cheaper coffee joints. Would definitely come here for a good roast, but it really isn't the place to get your daily coffee.

We were walking around and looking at vintage stores the other day at Brick Lane. And we walked pass Nude Expresso where my friend wanted to try for a long time. So we decided to have a coffee there. I just ordered a latte. Normally I would order a cake or snack but nothing caught my eye from the display. The latte tasted roasty at the beginning but tasted sour at the end. There was too much air in the milk because my milk foam was full of bubbles after my first sip. I am not an expert in coffee. I could only say it was a good coffee but not memorable. Sure there are more nicer coffee shops worth going in London. We visited early afternoon following a shopping spree around Spitalfields market. We sat outside and watched the crowds bustle buy. The coffee was excellent and promptly served. We will go back.

We visited on a lovely Saturday afternoon during a walk around in the area. We stuck with coffee and avoided the cakes / cookies (which looked awesome). We were seated ASAP and prefer flat whites and an espresso.

As the name suggests - great for espresso. Have stopped in many times and it's consistently good. Can't wait till the next visit.

Just had a Sunday morning breakfast at Nude Hanbury street location. Our flat-whites were tepid, at best, even after asking to have one of the drinks remade ‘hot’. The granola pot was standard. However, the service was so lacking in enthusiasm, energy, or any kind of humanity that it was hard to enjoy the food. The whole experience was tainted by the staff’s overall lack of interest the customers’ needs or desires. It’s not enough to have a single origin beans roasted on site and a beautiful espresso machine. Customers can sense and taste when food and drinks are made with care and pride of workmanship. We didn’t feel it at Nude.

Sometimes you just happen onto something quite special and if you are a lover of coffee this place is it. The smoothest, full tasting coffee I have had in a long time..great spot to get your kick of caffeine if you've been walking around Spittlefields Market. If you're one of those people who actually think Starbucks is good coffee I'd suggest you keep walking on!

Lovely coffee served by friendly staff in a pleasant and uncluttered surrounding.The only downside is the trendy metallic mugs can get really hot and they're not very comfortable to hold.

When in London I try to visit this cafe as I have always get great espresso.On one memorable occasion I drank the best espresso I have so far experienced here. It was a Peruvian Tunki, I took some of the beans home but could not quite match the quality on my machine.The quest for great espresso is not about the destination, it is about enjoying the espresso in front of you:-)

Located in London at the corner of Soho Square, the cafe offers an espresso made from grains imported from New Zealand and Australia. Fry the grain right there in your own roster. So you can always buy a bag of seeds for home experiments. For every 250 gram pack - an espresso cup is completely free.

although they are a bit pricey (3.5 pounds for a flat white) this is by far the best coffee in london. there are several locations and all of them have great coffee. do not miss!

We came across Nude before when visiting Shoreditch for the coffee festival and have been impressed with their coffee since. This time we popped in for a coffee before a day in Spitalfields and was pleasantly surprised to find quite a large collection of gluten free cakes to choose from when, to be honest, we had assumed they would have none. The only thing I would suggest is that they display the gluten free options separately to avoid cross contamination.As ever great espresso and who would say no to a cheeky nata, regardless of 07:00 start!

So, my two grown up daughters and myself thought we would stop into this coffee shop and have a coffee and cake. Firstly I was told off by a member of staff for queuing in the wrong place, then was charged £15 for three small white coffees and two chocolate brownies. The rude member of staff then brought out two coffees, having to be reminded about the rest of our order which she brought out some time later. We had only been sitting for about ten minutes when the same member of staff charged over and removed one of my daughter's coffees which she had not entirely finished, brushing against her in an aggressive manner. We laughed about it at the time but it was no laughing matter.My daughters live and work in London and we have had coffee in many places, usually enjoying a good cup of coffee and cake but will not be returning to this place.My advice to others is walk on when you see it, there are plenty of other coffee shops that will give you better service and coffee/cake for a less exorbitant price.

We grabbed takeaway flatwhites on a Saturday afternoon. Coffee was nice and strong, we really enjoyed it & thoroughly recommend.

If you need one proper Flatwhite in London, Google Nude Espresso, take the tube to Liverpool street , and proudly order one . It is just Alright enough to visit there Again for that one next Moment. A nice coffee bar which was extremely hot inside... very expensive for the size of coffee. Nice experience but not worth the money

On a Sunday visit to Spitalfields we thought we would pop in for a take away coffee. less than 5 minutes in the place had me wanting to smash something, the staff were by far the rudest beings on the planet. there's no space to wait whilst your coffee is being made, which then made the waiting time most uncomfortable and even more so by the horrible rude staff that kept asking us to move and asking what were we waiting for. IM WAITING FOR A COFFEE IN THE SPACE YOU HAVE ASKED ME TO WAIT IN!? several times it was demanded for us to move- where? how? just give me my drink so I can never see you all again. Avoid like the plague.

Went there on a Sunday morning since it was the only one open around the area. Coffee is standard, but definitely not worth it the 3£. Suggestions: make it cheaper, or make it better. Also, Americano size should be a bit bigger.

First of all - nice coffee, a cut above the norm. BUT what's with the abysmal, intentionally weird service? Every single time I've come here there's always been something to complain about, from not being allowed to sit down when there are loads of empty tables, to the way they kick you from the main shop to the espresso bar every now and then, to the "do your own milk", to the way they make you stand to one side if you are waiting. Lighten up, this is a coffee shop, not a bank.

A buzzing coffee shop, with the yummiest espresso and lattes and breakfast. I love this place, wish I still lived down the street from it. The staff are fabulous, I cant image how many calories they all burn each day, as they are hopping all day long. Great to be back in Dec/Jan for several sips!!

The best latte Ive ever had! It was on the small size with London prices but it was very, very nice. We didn't eat here so can't comment on the food but the coffee was great and it was a nice place to sit and people watch.

Service could be better. They don't "have" wifi so it makes it a bit difficult to use your laptop or tablet in this place. You better stay next to the window or you will not have any signal...Good for a quick take away coffee. Music too loud in the café. I think the roastery in the other side is a lot better, even though it has the same issues. 6/10

Just had to give it 2 stars today as there were flies around the pastries. Which I thought ok, there are flies everywhere. I will survive. Then the girl who made my coffee had a massive herpes. So I came out and binned both the coffee and the croissant as i didn't feel like consuming them anymore. And I don't think I will be back there anytime soon

I had travelled to London for a weekend from out of town for work and happened across this little cafe. What a find it turned out to be.The coffee is superb (they roast their own beans I believe) the environment buzzing, the food fresh and delicious (I tried it all over my few days) and the service from the team a mix of quirky and fun with knowledge on the area and their product was a welcome addition to my day.Do yourselves a favour a visit this gem spot if you are in town.

Just spent 6 minutes waiting in front of the counter, being ignored by 5 staff, who hummed around like preening birds chatting to each other, admiring themselves and looking pleased with the show they were putting on. I would have preferred some service. Or some sign at least - a glance? - that I existed as well as they did. There was a brief bit of relevant activity while three of them Formed a team to try and correct an order they'd got wrong. Pretentious rubbish.

Stopped off here for a coffee. Very friendly prompt service. The best flat white coffee I have had anywhere - hot and strong - not too milky. The black coffee was equally good.

Nude was the first place I'd ever had a perfectly made coffee. A few years back this big hunky Australian guy serving us at Brick Lane cafe suggested that I ought to try their Piccolo coffee...well that was the start of my love affair with smooth strong coffee...even though there are now many wonderful places in London to visit Nude is my first love and never disappoints.

If you like your coffee strong then this is the place for you - it blows my head off! The breakfasts are wonderful and the staff are always great.

Super coffee - surprise was the temperature. Apparently it should not be served boiling hot, just warm.

We eat here regularly. The coffee is amazing and I would recommend the avocado on toast with Haloumi.The staff are friendly but don't miss the coffee.

I always pop by Nude when I'm working in the area. They offer beautiful, fresh salads daily to take out or to eat in and great coffee. They also make some really tasty brownies! All the staff I have encountered have been pleasant and I am yet to be disappointed when visiting here!

Nude coffee is a great coffee experience for coffee lovers! We buy the beans ( their east blend is amazing!) for our bean to cup machine at home but also treat ourselves to the coffee. Recommend going there for a caffeine hit. The staff is friendly. Please note it can get quite busy at the weekend!

Even if you're staying in, get it in a to-go cup. The "for here" queue runs at snail pace despite the place not being that busy. Decent coffee though, so only use if you've got 10 minutes to spare.

Popped on out of the rain. All coffees are a standard small size for the price of a medium, a couple of mouthfuls and they are gone. Nicely presented but I would like more coffee. Think they are pricey owing to where they are. £8 for the small coffees - what a top off.

I'm one of those Australians that always complains about not being able to get good coffee so I come here to get great coffee. It never disappoints and I leave happy and satisfied. Happy to lay down some cash for top-notch lattes. Bliss.

I got a flatwhite at nude espresso. It was amazing, such good coffee, but man was that pricey. Definitely recommend if you don't mind spending some money for good coffee.

Dropped in to pick up a takeaway coffee while on walking around Shoreditch/Brick Lane. Fantastic coffee and excellent service.

I find myself increasing coming to Nude Espresso whenever Im in that neck of the woods. Great area, right in the heart of brick lane market. There are two Nude Espresso's opposite each other. I prefer the smaller classic looking café as opposed to the modern roaster. Its a little cramped though so if your after more space, this ones probably better. Yes the music is loud, when I was in there last the back catalogue of ABBA was playing! Coffee and food however is spot in, real good and at typical good coffee shop prices. Its great that you can see the workings behind the counter and see where the coffee is roasted also as opposed to just another generic coffee shop. The queue is always long, however this is probably a good thing!

Alright, its a cute spot. But first of all its so noisy. I found my self screaming at one point. Second of all of all, 4 pound is pretty expensive for a coffee. I would rather go somewherr else.

I love Nude Espresso and usually visit their Shorditch branch for coffee and lunch. It's easy going, relaxed, serving good coffee drinks and very well cooked eggs Benedict as well as avocado on toast. Reasonably priced which is a plus too. Thumbs up!

Love popping into Nude as the coffee is incredible & roasted just down the road and the staff are friendly & chatty. Visited for breakfast before London Coffee Festival instead this time, the menu was pretty interesting and the food was pretty good but nothing special. However I would always recommend popping in on an afternoon for a coffee break - the cakes always look amazing!

Have been visiting Nude espresso for few years. They certainly do some of the top roasts in London. The coffee is always superb. The cakes are made on the house. Very nice selection of food and salads. Could not love it more.

On a calm day, it is the best place to sit down by the window, watch people walk pass by while sipping a decent cup of coffee. They roast beans and serve quirky third wave brews too! It is better to go alone or with 2-3 max as finding seating can be difficult. I love their Americano, strong enough to make a coffee addict smile.

This is my local. I live and work nearby and send all of my friends to Nude. There are two Nude shops on Hanbury Street, opposite one another. I prefer the more open coffee-roasting shop over the cafe place across the street. Both venue serve great coffee but the roasting shop doesn't do food, just treats. Be aware the cups are quite small for a £2.80 coffee. I wonder if they are shrinking. Probably are. But the coffee is moreish. I go at least once a week and most of the time they play quirky music mixes, oldies, 80s etc. I went in there very recently and was completely repelled that they were playing some sort of Justin Bieber music. Gawd, I had to evacuate it was so bad and utterly inappropriate for the Spitalfields vibe. It sounds naff, but a cafe needs atmosphere and music plays a big part of that in my opinion.

I've been a few times, each worse than the last so I won't go anymore. The staff (including the guy who seems to be the manager/owner) are arrogant and inattentive. You may as well not be there, because they're only interested in standing around having a chat while you wait. Not a hello or acknowledgement. I waited 5 mins while the staff stood around chatting, there was no queue but nobody even looked at me. The coffee has a very strong distinctive sour flavour, almost salty. I've asked for an americano a couple of times and they say 'you mean a long black?' And then charge you £2.80 for what is quite a different drink. Get over yourselves! Oh and they charge you for card payments under £6. You can get nicer coffee in nearby places like Rough Trade or Suzzle that are better priced and have much friendlier baristas.

Best espresso in whole area. You won't miss it. You feel yourself like 100years ago. Great. Just the expensive prices for everything get you back in reality. Anyway, every penny you spend, it is worth for.

Great ambience and flat white.They also do some nice sandwiches and cakes for breakfast and lunch. Found my new morning coffee place around Liverpool Street Area. Have plenty of sitting places as well if you want to dine in.

I've been another few times since my last review and I was struck by the consistently high quality of the coffee - in so many places it's hit and miss depending on who's behind the machine. Well staffed too. So I'm upping the score.

Was craving for a really good cup of coffee. After walking from Liverpool Street with my friend and her very heavy luggage. Walked into this decent looking coffee shop. I ordered a flatwhite in a take away cup but wanted to drink inside. Gentleman with glasses asked her manager if anyone is allowed to have coffee in a take away cup inside.( by that moment already felt unwelcome there). She said "no" with a very rude voice tone. Didn't bother to explain why or what else they can offer. Straight away walked out of the door. I don't like tiny porcelain cups that makes my coffee cold and only contains two sips of coffee. I prefer a take away cup. Never had any kind of issue with any coffee shop. Was very surprised. Would definitely not recommend nude espresso.
