Notorious BRG in Canterbury

I’m absolutely speechless. I’ve been a chef for 15 years, vegan for 2; and honestly i had all but given up on enjoying junk food, let anyone a burger again. This place is the f**king truth, Ryan was spectacular, walked me through the menu rapidly, assisted me in order taking. I heard Anthony in the back controlling the kitchen with nothing but practised diligence and respect. The kitchen was spotless. All in all a spectacular experience and that’s not even to mention the food. I got the mac daddy burger and katsu fries, both vegan. The burger was cooked perfectly, the lettuce was crisp and the tomato juicy, the mac included in the burger somehow didn’t taste like old feet like every other vegan mac I’ve ever had, it was creamy and the pasta wasn’t overcooked which implies it was made with care and respect, not something many outfits afford their vegan options. The katsu fries were superb, consistent cuts on the spring onions so no choking hazard and the ‘chicken’ was ridiculous, I almost asked are you sure this is vegan but honestly I didn’t bother because you can just tell the professional nature of these lot from the second you walk in. (Plus I watched them treat a dairy “allergy” with the same care that a real allergy requires.) Head and shoulders above any other option in Canterbury, I’ll be back for sure, hopefully not tomorrow but it could happen if I’m not careful.

Honestly the burger was decent and the mac I felt was lacking some flavour and needed more cheese .This place isn’t going to blow your mind or anything but it’s solid ,staff were very friendly though.

Really felt welcome when we visited the Notorious BRG (2 adults and 2 children), amazing food, the chips were crispy, nothing to say but keep going! Special thanks to Sam for the service! Really enjoyed everything. If I must say something to inform other people coming with children: if you want to eat in, the seated spaces are quite small and cannot welcome more than 6 people inside in total. There are no toilets in the premises, so keep that in mind too 😉

Burgers were excellent, really tasty. Fries were very good, but a bit too pricey. Service was very good and friendly. Would give 5 stars, but just a tad too expensive.

Great atmosphere in the there, the playlist was immaculate and the guys behind the counter were so friendly and helpful. The food is also INSANELY GOOD. I will definitely be coming back to try more items on the menu

Best takeaway in Canterbury. The vegan options are incredible (duck fries stay in my thoughts rent free) but lots of meat options too. Amazing food!

Up there with the best of the best for our burger hunt! We gave it a nine out of ten! Could only be improved by adding an extra patty which we will do on the next visit!!

Love that every meat option is also available as a veggie and vegan alternative. Vegan burger and bacon with Blue cheese was really good, as was the strawberry milkshake

I don’t usually do reviews but I had to for this one, hands down the best presentation of a burger I’ve ever seen and tastes amazing too

the food was incredible just a little bit pricey. the staff was great, very accommodating and sweet. however, the area for eating is very small and there isn't much seating available, so i would recommend grabbing take out.

Visited for the first time with my son and ate at the counter. What a great find, friendly staff and super food, went for the Notorious BRG with top secret burger sauce (a must!) complemented with the Pulled Pork Fries (a meal in itself) all washed down with a thirst quenching Oreo Milkshake. Total hit, we’ll be back again soon.

The burgers are amazing, fries superb and they have a great selection of drinks and beers. We had El Pollo (Free range southern fried chicken breast, smoked streaky bacon, mature cheddar, house made burger sauce, lettuce & tomato) and the Notorious P.I.G (locally sourced beef patty, shredded BBQ pork, mature cheddar, house made slaw, garlic mayo, lettuce & tomato) with skin on fries. The staff were all super friendly, especially Ryan. Possibly the best burger I’ve had in a while.

Was visiting family in Canterbury and stumbled across notorious BRG. Only complaint is I didn't know what to order because everything looked so good. I asked the server ryan what he would suggest and he did not steer me wrong. Food was great, would highly recommend it! And when I needed a new drink I had it within a minute. Definitely worth trying!

Best burger of my life! Amazing variety of menu with the ability for all to be made veggie/vegan. I went for lunch with a colleague before an event and he wanted to come back for dinner! We both had the Mac daddy (burger with mac and cheese in it) but I had mine with a veggie patty. We will be back.

Visited Tuesday October 2024. Only space for 6 diners. Mainly takeaway food. Excellent and friendly staff. Really good prices. The food was cooked fresh and in no time. Really brilliant. Highly recommended. Tucked away down Castle street, with a great atmosphere. An enjoyable place to visit and incredible food. If your in the World renowned city of Canterbury, do yourself a favour and visit this establishment, you won't be disappointed. Milkshakes to die for.

We don’t live close ( rather quite far away near Leeds) but if we lived closer, we would be regulars. It’s a must visit place !

The burgers at this restaurant are not simple. The juicy beef steak and rich cheese make up the "infamous" burger just like the name of the restaurant. Every bite you take is a "happy" feeling. It is highly rated and is the place to go. Canterbury's delicious food is worth trying!

The burgers are always amazing - nowhere else can compare! Well worth the 25 minute drive. Friendly, helpful staff too.

Very tasty & juicy burger. Several fries styles. Very welcoming staff (as long as you close the door going in/out ;) ) Only ~7 seats to eat on-site.

First time visiting and glad we did honislty amazing tasting food. Only down side is no toilets. But best burgers around so worth going

I had read some fantastic reviews and I can confirm that I have never eaten such an exquisite burger, made to perfection! The fries were also excellent, never eaten so crunchy. If you are passing through Canterbury, stop by, you won't regret it 😉

Quality burger patty, cooked to perfection, juicy on the inside, slightly charred on the outside, rich and tasty seasonings, wrapped in a toasted and fluffy brioche. Throw in some well-chosen sides for variety, and some decadent milkshake. Hamburger doesn’t get any better than Notorious BRG.

Great team, great food! It's a shame we only spent one day in Canterbury at the beginning of August, we would have liked to have tried more... You have to wait a while, but that's how it is in great stores! Orders are taken in the order in which they are received, and fortunately the store is not only a tourist rip-off, but also heavily frequented by locals - that speaks for itself. Very open, friendly team - you immediately feel welcome. That's how it has to be!

I've been eating burgers for about fifty years and BRG so the best burgers.

Nice atmosphere, food and drink were served quickly. I was surprised the burger looked like the picture and it tasted so good. I got Cajun fries Regular, with BRG burger and a coke for around £18, £10 burger, £5 for fries, £2-3 for coke. Worth having a bite. Might be worth bringing cash as the electronic payments machine sometimes does not work.

I am beyond pleased we visited on our recent trip to Canterbury. The place itself is small inside with only a few seats but we were the only ones there. We had the duck fries, bacon Mac and cheese and a Notorious P.I.G with a raspberry ripple milkshake. The fries for me where the show stopper! Hoisin Mayo and shredded duck - what more could you want?! The burger was so juicy it was going everywhere (not a problem in our books) and the mac & cheese was absolutely delicious. I honestly couldn't fault it. They also deliver by the looks of things. Thank god we aren't local or I know where my money would go every month! Perfecto!!!!!

Great food and service. There’s only enough seating for about 6 people though, and be aware that the portions of fries are big. We ordered a large fries between the two of us but there were easily enough for three adults. Would definitely recommend.

Great place for a burger! Their BRG did not disappoint. Dine in seating is limited to counter and baywindow seats. We had their signature BRG as it was our first time here and the chilli cheese fries. As a south east Asian, I approve the chill! Packs a punch!

Love the menu. Every option you can choose a vegan version. Burgers and pimped up fries are amazing. Price is a little bit more than a McDonald's but far more superior.

Excellent is the word to say, if we had to say just one. There may be a long wait, I think due to the number of customers given how delicious it is. The burgers are extremely plentiful and just one is enough to fill your belly. The fries are delicious, and the sauces too. I highly recommend With all my gratitude

Small burger joint on a side street in Canterbury. We had 2 super delicious burgers (one as a veggie version) and a totally delicious mac & cheese. Service was also very nice! Only has 7 seats in total, we didn't have to wait, but if we did it would have been totally worth it! Clear recommendation :)

One of the best recommendations we’ve been given for somewhere to eat. A simple but delicious menu! Flavours are incredible, you can smell the freshness when you walk in! We got a notorious brg and the katsu fries with chicken strips! The sauces are ridiculously good! Everything had flavour, tasty and fresh!! The gents working made the atmosphere friendly and clearly enjoyed making the best food! The food in Camden mark doesn’t compare to this! If you don’t know now you know…..

The best vegetarian burger I've had in a very long time. Notorious BRG has a large menu and everything on it can be made vegetarian, so we got the blue cheese and bacon burger with a vegan patty and vegan bacon. I wish more places gave you this option. Staff were very friendly and seemed to be enjoying themselves so the atmosphere was really nice. I would recommend to anyone and I'll be visiting the London branch soon.

We liked the food and the place is nice and friendly and is very small . For such good food they should upgrade the places ASAP or the will lose customer for lack of space. Food was served fast and mac n cheese was delicious. My girls loved it! Will be back when they upgrade

Wow what amazing burgers and fries. Travelled most of the world and never tasted burger and fries as good as these and the price is very reasonable. It is generally a takeaway, but t we are in. The staff are great too. A truly amazing experience, 😃

From walking though the door until leaving after eating our burgers everything was first class. I can not recommend enough. So wish wishwdd closer..

Always a friendly welcome and menu recommendations. Loaded fries are our go-to try the crispy duck omg !!! Chicken dippers were so crispy and tasty. And the burgers, just taste them. Can’t go wrong. Visit as often as we can.

We stopped by this restaurant when we were part of a group tour in Canterbury with free time for lunch. It was slightly off the main path which made it much quieter. We were invited in by the stylish decor and excited to find a place that had GF options. The staff was so friendly and attentive. Our food was excellent and ready quickly. The burgers were dripping with flavor and all the ingredients seemed high quality and fresh. We ate in the restaurant, although there is limited seating. Our family (two kids 7/9) would highly recommend as a great place to get high quality burgers in Canterbury.
