Notcutts Restaurant in Spelthorne

I have shopped at Notcutts a few times to purchase various bits and bobs and to have lunch every now and then. I am always greeted with friendly, smiling staff who are very helpful and never put out when asked to assist. The couple of staff members I have had serve me recently are Ellie and Gurvinder. They are brilliant young ladies who always greet me with a cheery hello and a smile. Ellie has served me a few times on the tills now and always makes time for a little chat, while Gurvinder has been very helpful in assisting me around the store when I am looking for a particular product. There is also a couple of young lads that work there, I am ashamed to say I didn't ask their names, but they have helped me a few times and are extremely knowledgeable with the products Notcutts do and don't have in store. All the staff I have spoken with here are very kind and welcoming people, which is a rarity these days, and the manager should be extremely proud of the team they have round them. These youngsters are not only a credit to themselves, but a credit to Notcutts. I will be returning as a very satisfied customer indeed.

Today was Mum's 86th birthday. Mariuos cooked a fabulous roast dinner for us. All staff came & sang happy birthday. Wow!

I go to Notcutts Staines once a week with my sister , our server is usually Jayne who is the sweetest person and it’s always lovely to see her , only real complaint is the queues sometimes caused , I’m sure , by lack of staff . Other times I go with my children and grandchildren and the food is good but getting,like everything else a little expensive. The grandchildren enjoy the slide outside and always love to see any rabbits ,birds and other creatures that may be for sale .

We come from Windsor to go to this garden centre, fantastic food, accommodating staff, very friendly atmosphere, feel very much at home here. The place is well laid out, ketchup is Heinz, and today served by a lovely lady called Jayne. The best place for a quick bite.

First time going to notcutts and will definitely be back again!!! Team we’re great and so helpful would recommend to everyone for garden essentials and general bits and the food is so good.

Went to Notcutts with my Nan and Grandad for lunch and it was delicious. My Nan and I had jacket potatoes and they were beautiful, my Grandad had a cottage pie he said it was amazing, we all loved it. A lovely lady called Jayne served us, we will definitely be back! Thanks Jayne and team x

We came for an afternoon tea for my daughter (who is 9 but loves an afternoon tea) Amy the restaurant manager could not be more accommodating and really made my daughter and her friend feel very special. Come on a Saturday morning regularly and always see the friendly face of Kath in the restaurant. Always friendly and welcoming and helpful.

Stopped of for a quick cuppa and ended up with a cream tea, I can honestly say it was the best fruit scone I have ever had and it was served with a smile, I found the staff to be pleasant and friendly, I can't wait to return and try something else from their extensive menu.

Last time I had the fish and chips here (about a year ago) it was great - huge portion, well cooked and great value. Last week for £13.95 I got what amounted to a thin piece of white shoe leather covered in chewy batter. The fish was small, thin and dry. The batter was chewy and obviously not fresh. I noticed one customer complaining to staff (before they had their food) and another customer who ended up going to the counter to get her food. A server was wandering around with food a couple of times with obviously no clue where she was supposed to be taking it. Has really gone downhill food wise and service wise and certainly won’t be buying fish and chips again.

Fantastic restaurant, lovely warm welcome from two staff members Abbie and Mia in the cafe. Informed me that my cake and coffee qualified for a deal, woohoo. Both chatty and friendly with a warm and welcoming reception from both of them. Restaurant was busy but a lovely vibe and atmosphere about. Will definitely be returning for more scrumptious cake and coffee.

Excellent food and good value for money. Generous portions of Sunday roast with all the trimmings, and roasted veg tart in herb pastry with salad and sautée potatoes. Both meals tasty and well cooked. Definitely recommended!

A group of us went for a Xmas lunch (pre booked) we arrived for a midday booking. A few had starters which arrived after 12.30, then the main course arrived after 13.00 and the desserts arrived after 14.00, all in all the meal was stretched out for about 2 1/2 hours. They seemed to be very understaffed, to such an extent that 2 of the ladies in our group ended up helping to serve us. There were about 30 in our group, and there was another big group plus the normal daily customers. With 2 big groups being booked it would have made sense to have more staff. Also one of the dessert choices was a fruit salad trifle, which turned out to be a blackcurrant trifle, which was not good as one of our group who had ordered this can’t eat blackcurrants. We felt sorry for the staff, it wasn’t their fault and they did the best they could. Management should have organised things better. Wouldn’t recommend going there in a big group, next year we will be going somewhere else.

Lovely staff and lots of lovely goods for sale, but restaurant offers very poor choice of vegetarian food for Sunday dinner - guess what - vegetarians like roast potatoes and veg too - we don’t want just to be offered pasta or a salad meal on a freezing cold day at the end of November! We ended up ordering a jacket potato and panini & chips as desperate for some hot food - ironically when it arrived it was barely warm - so disappointing!

Had coffee with friend..staff and Manager were excellent as was the drinks. Would highly recommend.

Yes we are. Since it's our local we keep coming here and spending our hard earned money in mediocre food. I don't even know how to describe the good. Let the pbot speaks for itself. I think a but if salad like they used to offer years ago wouldn't go amiss. If nothing else it makes it look better. The dishes looked bland and tasted even worse. Come on Notcutts! We are contributing to your family's great lifestyle. The least you could do is treat your loyal customers with a but of respect by serving decent food.

Just want to give a huge thank you to the manager and staff at Notcutts Staines restaurant. They provided a wonderful Christmas dinner for 72 members of our gardening club: Ashford Horticultural Society. The food and the service were just great. This was the fourth year running we've had our Christmas dinner there and we have every plan to continue. Thank you very much Blajica and team.

Love the restaurant here, so spacious and light and great for families. But... the food is unnecessarily bad. We had the hog roast pork rolls today. Came with a tiny bite of pork and a stuffing ball. So you basically get one bite of pork, one bite of stuffing and the majority is basically an apple sauce sandwich. With three burnt potato wedges on the side.

We are regulars here. Begrudgingly. Mainly for the restaurant. Overpriced but we still come here. Is it because the food is great? No. Customer experience? No. Why then you may ask. Convenience. That's it. To meet friends. To just have a cuppa.

Made the mistake again of popping into the restaurant

I can’t believe that Notcutts cafeteria can still sell those rock cakes (emphasis on "rock") that they call scones . They are certainly nothing like scones. I like their toasted tea cakes but they are always running out of them. Why can’t they keep a stock in the freezer? Otherwise I find no fault with the layout of the restaurant and efficiency of the staff.

We visited today for a pre-booked afternoon tea. Amazing value for £9.50 per person. The table was decorated really nicely and the food was delicious. But best of all was Jayne who looked after us. She really takes pride in her job and was an absolute pleasure. Thank you! We’ll be back :)

We have been regular visitors to notcutts restaurant over the past 15 years, but unfortunately the refurbished restaurant open since late 2016, is not as good as before, gone is the reasonable choice of lunchtime favourites, now we have poorly thought out choices and hardly any customer service. Today we visited for lunch on a Saturday, on arrival the car park was full, and we expected a queue in the restaurant, not so, the serving area was almost deserted, a nice selection of cakes, but unbelievably no side plates! We were positively ignore by the staff, and only get attention when we went to the till area, we ordered fish gougon sandwich and sausage baggette, no mention on the board that it came with accompaniments such as salad or chips, we asked for chips as a side dish, and they actually arrived with a few chips on the side, my earl grey tea was brewed at the counter, with no option to allow a longer brewing time! When the sandwiches arrived, I found my sausages were very light in colour, barely cooked, the onions appeared to be more from a jar than freshly cooked. My wife's fish gougon were almost all batter with only a small amount of fish, very poor quality. Overall the cost of our meal was not good value at all and I can't see us returning any time soon.

Arrived at 2.30pm on a Sunday. Very little food left so we had jacket potatoes with salad. Very nice. It had obviously been busy as they had run out of knives and had to wash some up. Lovely outdoor seating area. If you are a member of the Privilege club you get discounts and occasional free drinks so 2 jacket potatoes and 2 hot drinks cost us £8 so good value. Tables not cleared from previous diners so did a bit of tidying up before eating.

My husband and I have had breakfast a nd chose the veg omelette. Absolutely delicious and the portion was enormous. Presentation lovely.

Service very slow, not enough staff on tills or counter which is a shame as the restaurant could be so much more with just a little more effort, food ok not exceptional . Always busy as it was the day we went but will not be going back soon as when you only have certain amount of time too much is spent on queing and waiting for food.

Decided to pop into Notcutts for a coffee and slice of cake with my husband at the weekend. Was pleasantly surprised with the new refurbishment as we hadn’t been since it had been done up. Lovely spring decorations up, creating a fresh atmosphere.

We’ve been coming here for many years and like the overall improvements that have been made.

We always enjoy the food and cakes here, can get busy and this impacts on the service (delays) but nothing to terrible, well worth a visit.

Enjoyed a nice lunch on a Friday. Was very busy but we were advised of the 25 minute wait which was fine. We had the gluten free fish and chips which was great. I had a lovely pot of green tea. Staff very friendly.

Food range is great for a garden centre cafe, service was OK but we had to chase for some of the meals. One came out after everyone had finished eating which is not great, when I mentioned it they said we are busy and are short staffed. I am the customer how is the staffing my issue??

The restaurant has been revamped and is spacious and clean. The festive menu is very good and the food is reasonably priced. Lovely garden centre and well worth a visit this time of year.

Notcutts is a very attractive garden centre with a very spacious light cafe with a good selection of hot and cold meals, however it is a victim of it's own sucess, visited today, 25 min wait for lunch followed by a 30 min wait for pudding, and had to chase. Thought it was poor that when puchasing alcoholic drinks, a beer, a wine and a cider, that although i could see some glasses at the back of the counter, i was told that i could not have these as you could only have a glass if you have booked a Christmas meal! you had to have a plastic cup, the drinks are not cheap and this really does not seem acceptable, i persisted and obtained a glass for the wine but not for the other drinks. The restaurant is very busy at the weekend and if full the number of staff in the kitchen is not enough to cope with the volume of customers, you either need a smaller restaurant or more staff in the kitchen, so the staff can cope, as it is, it is not fair on either the staff or the customers. It may well be alot better on a week day, but if you are in a hurry best pick a sandwich you can take from the chiller counter!

Chicken and ham pie - very tasty, slightly cheesy creamy sauce. Tenderstem broccoli (as usual, proper broccoli would have been better), French beans ok, peas not great. Mash tasted good but cooler than the plate. Gravy - fantastic taste.

Had a lovely Christmas dinner with every thing cooked really nice and the Christmas pudding was very tasty and very moist better ever the taste was delicious. The service we received from everyone was above and beyond on Wednesday 21st Nov. Thank you for a lovely day we had. They brought the food out piping hot.

Visited on Saturday 27th - this restuarant is always busy, and was prepared for such after seeing a packed car park. I always think that the staff do such an amazing job, as the restaurant is a huge space and always completely full!

I honestly can’t recomend this garden centre restaurant enough. we booked a afternoon tea. it was great value for money, lovely and fresh, and a nice selection of sandwiches cakes it really was as good as hotels but a lot better value for money.the staff where great and kept everyone happy for the afternoon thank you very much knotcuts we will return again soon.

Came here for lunch with my fiancé and my Aunt. I have to say I’m surprised at the previous reviews as our food was lovely and fantastic gluten free choices which was a welcome surprise. My Aunt and I had the (gluten free) haddock fishcakes with new potatoes and salad which was delicious. My fiancé had the (gluten free) fish & chips which was also very good. Puddings were also delicious although not very clear where you ordered them from. Good choice of food and I thought reasonable. Staff were very friendly (the lady that bought our food heard me say how nice my partners chips looked and she bought me a few chips over on a small plate - nice touch!) we would certainly return.

£20.20 for two for cheese and tomato toastie, fish finger sandwich (chips included) and two bottles of cranberry squash. Very little cheese in sandwich. Seemed to be all crust. The chips that came with food were lovely but inconsistent in portion sizes; one cup was overflowing, the other nowhere near the top. Distinct lack of customer service - we stood by sandwich section for some time; staff behind that counter kept looking at us but said nothing. Then we noticed a sign tucked away in the corner of counter about ordering at the tills. Why the staff could not be pro-active and direct us I do not know. Considering there is a similar - but much friendlier - garden centre with cafe locally, Notcutts really needs to up their game.

Went 22 Sept am. It was clean and well staffed. Quick service. Staff seem happier. Vast improvement on my last visit.
