I just pop in for a scone and a pot of tea what a disappointment. The tea was ok but the scone was the worse I ever had it was dry plus too sweet and it was hollow in the middle but my biggest mistake was eating 2 thirds of it I should have took it it back straight away I will learn by mistake

Never lets me down providing amazing, tasty, well presented food. The staff are always smiley with a great sense of humour - particularly Mark! They go above and beyond to create a welcoming atmosphere and the food comes to table remarkably fast. The only downside - they're getting so popular during busy times that it can be hard to get a table, so my advice is: book in advance!

Stopped at notcutts for a bite to eat today with my 7 month old. The food was delicious but more importantly and the reason I would return, the staff were so friendly and helpful. The manager Mark very kindly mashed the food to a consistency my little one could eat… and even with the mess she was making trying to feed herself the waitress was smiling and chatting to her, which was really lovely, normally we would avoid letting her fed herself when in restaurants as the staff get funny about the mess.

We have been going to Notcutts Peterborough for many years and noticed a steady decline in the food choice and quality. We called on Sunday looking for drinks and either cakes or scones. What we found was no scones and 3 very unappetising cakes which looked as though they had never risen. We walked back out again and went to Dobbies instead. The main meal choices have not changed for a considerable time. Whoever is in charge needs to go visit Notcutts at Woodbridge which we visited last year. The choice and quality is far superior there.

Went in for 2 toasted ciabattas with chips. They had no ciabattas and so we ordered 2 toasted sandwiches. When they arrived the ham and cheese 'toastie' was just a cold ham sandwich made with pretty dry bread. There was a tiny scraping of spread with the ham and no cheese. My stilton and mushroom toastie had a tiny amount of stilton and one side was very dry which meant the toast just separated from the sandwich. Each was accompanied by chips as requested .... I had 11 chips and my partner had 13 - hardly a generous portion. At a cost of £6.50 we felt this was very disappointing. We went home hungry and will not be eating there again.

Visited today for a light lunch. Told that the soup of the day was spicy butternut squash. Neither I nor my friend thought it tasted like that but irrespective of this the soup was unpalatably salty (both of us thought this). Neither of us could finish the soup. We were advised by a member of the kitchen staff to raise this with the counter staff, which we did. Apparently everyone else liked it so what was the problem? Effectively - tough! Well it is simple. We do have a right of reply and also we can vote with our purses so Notcutts is off our list.

It's the first time I've ever had sandwiches without butter. Our 4 year old wanted a cheese sandwich without pickle. It came with pickle, so we sent it back. 2 slices of bread, no butter, with a couple of slices of cheese, plus a small tub of chips. £5.95. My tuna sandwich had no spread either, I opted for salad, which I left as it was covered in greasy green dressing,Possibly pesto. My husband asked for panini, but he got 2 small bits of baguette. His chips came in an enamel mug which was damaged. One of the teapots had a chipped spout. One good point was the attentive staff who cleared the table for us to use. But we won't be eating there again.

Called in here this morning for a breakfast for the first time. It was very busy, but that shows a good place. Got 2 of the small breakfasts for 2 for £6. That consisted of one slice bacon, 1 hash brown, half a tomato, beans, 1 sausage and a egg. I didn't think that was a bad price, but the drinks are not included so the price shot up when you add those. Next time i'll just have the breakfast. It took a while to get served, but as I say they were very busy, and if you don't like the items they will swap things. They also do different sized breakfasts. They may benefit from putting one of those shelves for customers to put their used trays in the café, as like a previous reviewer says you leave them on the table and I can see sometimes they don't get collected quick enough. That way the tables will get cleared.I would also suggest a menu for people to look at away from the back of the café, so people can actually look and think what they want. Its very difficult where it is.I'm not sure on other prices for different meals, this review is just on the small breakfast.

Two of us called in as we were passing and didn't know the area. We wanted coffee and breakfast and it seemed to have a good choice. As one of us is gluten intolerant that was an important consideration and the signs advertised gluten free pies and cakes etc. Unfortunately when it came to breakfast apart from the obvious gluten free items there was no specific gluten free products. No gluten free bread so she opted for a tomato, mushroom and cheese omelette having checked it is gluten free as some cheese is pre packed with flour. Hold your breath! This omelette was £6.95! I opted for poached eggs on toast at £3.95 which was more realistically priced. I've posted pictures to show what we got for our money. The poached eggs were hard so over cooked in my opinion and the omelette was dripping in oil and tasted only of oil. Very disappointing. It also took ages to come out and they weren't particularly busy. Coffee was great!

This pub has come a long way. It's a traditional pub which does some food but it is not the modern-day theme pub that is ‘dressed up to the nines’ and tries to be everything to everyone. A good selection of beers at reasonable prices and personable staff all helps. The atmosphere is positive and traditional and the two lads who run the pub work hard to keep it clean. The downside is not being able to take your dog into the pub now the autumn has arrived and the chain has stopped selling peanuts, a good seller I understand. Keep up the good work.

Four of us ate here in the restaurant. Starters wild mushrooms in cream/garlic on bread. Mains - gammon, braised beef, pork belly and fish and chips. Desserts apple and rhubarb crumble. The service was excellent and food hot and tasty. Excellent portions and well priced. Only one suggestion- the crumble top needed cooking/browning more. it was pale and tasted floury. Also be nice to have some background music as only a couple of tables occupied.

The surroundings are lovely, the food was fresh, hot and tasty, albeit the selection was small as was the portion. Nice environment for a special occasion or meeting friends in the area. We walked through the grounds and had lunch at 2:30pm.
