Cast Iron Grill in Peterborough

Just had possibly the worst rack of ribs ever. The meat on ribs should literally fall off the bone and not have to be sawn off with a serrated knife. Disappointing is an understatement. To add insult to the dining experience I happened to visit during children’s playtime. Children literally running around the restaurant shouting and screaming. If parents have no respect for other diners it is up to the staff to deal with it, this is what they are paid for and “should” be trained to do. It is not just poor customer service towards other diners it is a health & safety issue with hot food and glasses being carried round the restaurant!!

The ambience and food were ok, although the prices are very high for what is on offer. What bothered me were the unappetizing glasses and the service employee wasn't in good shape either: my son ordered iced tea, whereupon the user brought black tea with ice cubes. When we explicitly asked her again if she didn't have "real iced tea", she realized her mistake. Then she asked us if we wanted peach or mango flavor. We wanted mango, but she ended up bringing peach - she corrected her mistake after we pointed it out to her again. This isn't all that bad of course, but if I pay 72GBP for 3 people, then you'd expect better service than in a fast food restaurant. It also has to be said that there was a dirty diaper visible in the parking lot, which didn't really add to the ambience or appetite.

Excessive prices, poor food. Very dissatisfied

Stayed at the hotel and booked a table here for our anniversary dinner. Wonderful service from our waitress (I wish I asked her name but she is a casual at Cast Iron and served us from 7pm 26/08/23.) Welcoming, helpful and so kind to us. The food was amazing, portions are perfect so we were able to have desert which was provided for free for our anniversary. Cannot fault the service and food at this restaurant. They are an asset to the hotel.

The menu has changed since last time I came, prices have gone up by a considerable amount but quality unfortunately went on the opposite direction. It is a shame because it is a nice location

Service was ok, Had to wait a while before someone came up to us with a drink or food menu. Mind you, there were only 3 people in the bar. But when you're from abroad or not fimilar with customs it of this place, it can be a bit unclear. But apparently, you order at the bar. The food was not great. I had the cast iron burger. I think this was the driest burger I ever ate. Had a hard time chewing an even harder time swallowing. I think my trachea is forever scared. I had to wash every bite down with my drink.. the Chipotle sauce I don't know but didn't taste like it nor did it help the meat patty go down. The whole thing was just bland and dry. Fries where ok. There was no atmosphere at all. It felt like I was at a wake. The deco is quite sober as well..

Food was really tast but inexplicably cold. I came when the restaurant was all but empty and food arrived very promptly. So how on earth could it be tast yet tepid? I don't understand. I mentioned it to the perfectly pleasant servong staff who was apologetic but offered nothing in return for the cold food. Was good but next time I'll send back the cold food. This time I was in too much of a hurry.

Excellent food can’t fault it at all. Food was delicious and service was brilliant. We have stayed at his hotel before. I would highly recommend. Thanks guys for being very accommodating.

Average food at best presentation non existant. Service by Sergio absolutely superb. I would suggest you get iut and about for food and drink. Not got a car then there is a Harvester restaurant less than 5 mins walk and a great pub with fantastic food 10-12 mins walk called The Cuckoo.

Food is FANTASTIC! It's overpriced for the portion size, the panko needed chicken was EPPIC the chicken was juicy tasty and didn't need a knife to cut it. The starters were VERY good I had two and they were not very big. Service was quite slow between starter and main it was about 45 mins between starter and main. Which is a shame. Waiters seem new and getting to grips with things but are polite and well intentioned.

Very clean, Good food. Good service & friendly staff.

Drinks were good, the gentleman that served us was polite and helpful however not only was it overpriced but when we paid they wanted to add a service charge on some of the drinks. They also charged different amounts for 2 identical drinks and when we asked for the manager she was rude and unhelpful. Will not be recommending.

Good meal nice atmosphere, ordered coffee with hot milk had to ask 3 different members of staff milk did not arrive had to remove coffee from bill took edge of pleasant evening

Loved the ambience and the staff were absolutely marvellous, as was the meal! An experience I intend to repeat soon!

The food is good although portions are not the biggest for the price. staff are pretty hard working and polite. At the time of my visit during the Covid crisis, a limited range of meals was available and these had to be ordered 30 minutes prior to eating. A businessman travelling alone, the dingy lighting made it impossible to read whilst in the restaurant. I appreciate that Covid has made things difficult, but I'd really like enough light to see what I'm eating and read my book!

Me and my colleagues had a amazing dinner at he cast iron, with Ryan (supervisor) and Lauren plus Sophie (waitress) looked after us so well! Very kind and extremely funny but professional! I’m happy too be staying here and being catered by such amazing people A+++

Went along for a family meal . First time there . Lovely surroundings. Friendly, helpful staff . Food was delicious.

Food was actually quite nice here (I would compare it to a harvester or similar) service from general staff was ok, however managers make up their own rules. We had booked online where it was clearly marked up that kids are free when an adult had a main meal. When coming to pay, the manager decided that the offer was only for people staying at the hotel. I have trawled through the website but cannot see this as a stipulation anywhere. Maybe if someone answered the phone they'd be able to point me in the right direction?! It's a shame something so small has left such a bitter taste in my mouth, as we pay a considerable sum to be part of the leisure club at the Marriott hotels who look after us really well

I live locally and was looking for somewhere different to eat out. I can honestly say this place is a little hidden gem!! It is a hotel so the atmosphere depends on how many guests choose to dine. Friday night was just busy enough but not too full. The food is excellent! Massive massive portions and cooked to almost perfection. The rump steak was well superior than what is served in the harvester or the granary which are both in walking distance. Flat iron chicken from the grill was soft and buttery The beef brisket starter is a meal in itself! The meat melts! The calamari & chorizo starter was excellent. The staff were lovely, both attentive and friendly without being too intrusive. Only down side is that the wine is three times the price of all other local restaurants so very overly expensive. I’ll definitely eat here again soon though without a doubt!! 👍

Great food, friendly service. I've eaten here twice when up from London for biking events and was hesitant about being a captive mark given the mixed greviews. Both times the food was really good, with a good mix of light and stodgy options. Very attentive / quick service

We visited this restaurant on the first night of our stay at the Marriott Peterborough. I have to say I have never been so disappointed, we ordered two cocktails, both were not available as the bar had run out of the necessary spirits, then we ordered two steaks which both myself and my girlfriend found very fatty which was disappointing at £24 per steak! There are far better restaurants locally which you should take advantage of.

We ate here twice as we were quite exhausted both days and didn't want to leave the hotel. The food is solid, well cooked (except the chicken that was super dry). Some dishes better then others. Nothing special - over priced - but it is a hotel. We enjoyed the ribs and the steak.

The service is really bad and we booked for 7:30 and we still haven't got our meals now at 9:30. We booked ages in advance and they didnt let us know that it was closed so we had to sit in the bar but they moved us in saying they made 'a mistake' then we still didnt get any food the wine we wanted we couldn't get because they couldnt get it out of the cellar and its been at least thirty minutes since we got our starters.
