Please 🙏 don’t make this a habit. The breakfast was very disappointing. Tomato rock hard and hardly cooked, as was the fatty, again hardly cooked bacon. Not your best for sure.

Visited the garden centre for lunch. Had to queue as so busy. Tasty, reasonably priced food that was served quickly. Great front of house waitress who was clearing tables so they were easy to use and then escorting people from the queue to them. A few people were not keen on queuing and one man just walked in and sat down. When the same waitress asked if he had just walked in and told that there was a queuing system in place at busy times, he was really abusive to her - she hadn't even told him to move and was just reminding him for next time he might visit. You could tell she was visibly upset by his rude manner she was just trying to be fair and keep the resturant clean and running smoothly Totally unnecessary of him and not nice to witness! I did speak to her after the incident to check she was ok but she was still upset but glad that we had had a positive experience. The garden centre itself had lots of different things to look at and some good bargains. Worth a visit for both cafe and garden centre.

Disappointing visit. Seems they’ve changed the menu and not for the benefit of customers, ordered cheese and tomato and ham and tomato sandwiches. One brown one white. Told “No, sorry you can’t have a slice of tomato, just plain sandwiches”. But, I could pay extra for a whole side salad. Funny that. I said OK. Girls on the hot drinks and till are lovely, very friendly. Eventually, after 25 minutes and teas now gone cold the sandwiches arrived, both on whoemeal (which I have a slight intolerance to), and the salad smothered in a gloopy dressing with 1/4 chunks of tomato which of course were useless to put in a sandwich, I sent the salad straight back because of the dressing, it returned and clearly the dressing had been rinsed off under the tap and was now swimming in water. What sort of restaurant would not allow you to have a slice of tomato in a sandwich? I have previously given a glowing review of this coffee shop, being regulars, but unfortunately with that attitude and lack of customer service I’m not sure I would eat there again any time soon. Shame.

Decided to spend the afternoon here as my father had an appointment next door at Kim's hospital. After browsing the centre for a while we decided it would be good to grab a coffee and bite to eat soon. I went to see if there were any tables free and spoke to a gentleman who asked how many places I needed. I requested a table for 5 with enough room for 2 wheelchair spaces and told him that we was happy to wait 20/30minutes as they were very busy. To say he went above and beyond is an understatement. He said to leave it with him and he would see what he could to. 5 minutes later he came and found me to let me know he hadn't forgotten. 10 minutes after that he called me over make sure what he had done met our requirements. While still being busy he had rearranged the tables so the wheelchairs had easy access while not being in the way or being bumped by passers by. We ordered our coffees and food and having a laugh with the ladies behind the counter, I asked who the gentleman was, only to be told that he was the owner. I am a great believer in leading from the front and seeing how accommodating and professional yet friendly he was is the perfect way to inspire your workforce. Our food arrived (all day breakfasts and jackets potatoes) and it was fantastic , some of us had to loosen our belts once we had finished. We did hear him telling the girls that he was off home before coming over to us to say that if there is anything else we needed do not hesitate in asking the girls. 25 minutes later we saw him finally go. There wasn't anything else we needed but stayed seated for a while chatting. Not once did we feel rushed or that we needed to vacate our table. We will definitely be heading back in the future and will be recommending to our friends and family.

Went to the cafe for the first time ever on the 8-11-22 as a group of 5 of us, Two in wheelchairs. The centre was very busy with customers we had planned to stop off and have lunch, the cafe was packed so my son spoke to a man and asked if they could accommodate our needs a bit later on he replied No problem. And we arranged to return when it was a bit quieter when we returned he had set out 3 tables together and reserved them for us. ( turned out he was the owner ) to say we were waited on like Royalty was an understatement it was wonderful and made our day.

Having been through the garden centre many times, chose to stop off at the restaurant for the 1st time. Wont do that again. Every wall, bit of furniture and the carpet were covered in flies. They were landing on the food before we even paid for it. I've never experienced this anywhere before, in UK or abroad. A really unpleasant experience and leaves you wondering where these flies are coming from. And to too off this brief visit, the staff were rude and snappy. Avoid.

Had lunch at this charming little cafe within the garden centre. How refreshing! Good old fashioned simple menu extremely well done. The decor was a little worrying and it was tucked away in a dingey part of the garden centre but I think it could be a treasure. I ordered quiche, chips and peas with a coffee. Nicest quiche I have had in years! What a delight to have sensible portions at sensible prices and the coffee was lovely. Staff were charming and helpful and the service was prompt. Give it a try

I hope this review goes to the right department. I am writing this review about our new patio garden furniture We visited this store on the 14th May 2021 to look at garden furniture , looking the ratten style. As we only have a small patio so we was limited. A lady approached us to ask if she could help. Her name is Kelly, she was very helpful, and was surprised how quickly it was going to be delivered. We was very happy with the delivery company, which rang us, to arrange a delivery date, and on the date they rang in the morning and gave us a time. The man that delivered our furniture was very polite and was on time he said it would be delivered. Just like to say would recommend Nott cutts for the garden furniture and staff in the garden department

During this virus problem, I accept most coffee shops etc only want card payments. In fact they are not by law to refuse cash. The problem is they just cannot be bothered to count money/cash up on closing. As a customer I don’t always have cards with me. I prefer to pay cash for just a coffee. The women was extremely rude. I joked about it and she returned by saying to me put your mouth away. I sincerely hope she gets the sack. You do not be rude to customers. We have the right to pay cash at anytime. What the sign should say is, we would appreciate customers pay by card/contactless. Thank you for your cooperation. No their sign says NO CASH. Card payments only. Not the way to go. I will not go there for coffee again. Walk with your feet.

I’ve visited coffee corner for years. I regularly visit with my elderly mother as we can always guarantee great service, and very friendly staff. In recent times my mother has understandably been nervous to eat out, but the staff always clearly explain their operations/sanitation, giving clear instructions on what to do. I’ve yet to find any other coffee shop in Maidstone that meets this high standard during this time. Thank you everyone at coffee corner!

I don’t know why I order food here every time I come here. I come up with my grandparents as they enjoy a walk around the garden centre and a cup of coffee beforehand. My mother and I both ordered the chilli jacket potato, my grandparents had a scone and a sandwich. The food did arrive earlier than we were told, which was 25 minutes, the food arrived in around 15 min. The lady who took my order and then brought us the food over was very polite. The jacket potatoes with chilli cost £6.50 and the portion size was tiny! The jacket potato was like warm at best but the chilli lacked any flavour and tasted almost watered down. I asked for a refund and the lady who served me originally was very nice and offered me a replacement which I did not want after tasting the bland chilli. The manager (short brown hair and glasses) did not talk to me at all through the entire transaction! She did not even try and hide what she was saying to the other staff about the food and how I was wrong but in her words ‘it’s not worth arguing about it.’ This is not the first time she has been rude and it’s no surprise with her attitude that the staff turnover is very high. There seems to be different staff members on every visit! The coffees were very nice and the cups were warmed up. How about concentrating on heating up your bland overpriced food and working on your customer service too... I was polite throughout the whole situation and don’t appreciate being ignored by the manager and being blatantly talked about between the staff on how wrong I was for not enjoying your food!!

Visited with our son and family who wanted some garden plants. When you visit a garden centre you surely get what you might expect. There was the usual selection of plants, tools, ornaments and furniture. If you look carefully you can spot reductions for the gardener able to restore plants back to health. The prices for some or the items, notably garden furniture, were at a level where only a minority of people might wish to part with their hard earned cash. Items for children are in their usual location where they can be grabbed by inquisitive hands. The cafe was ok for a drink and a snack, but if we had wanted a meal we wouldn’t have chosen a garden centre. It was an interesting visit.

Went into a restaurant and ordered rice with sweet and sour chicken and they just poured sweet and sour chicken soup that tasted like a can soup along with chicken nuggets over the rice. This is horrible to serve people such in a restaurant. Better to be honest to customers when you don't have properly fresh cooked meals. It appears like they're only good with breakfast and sandwiches NOT other cooked meals

I come here often with my dad to have a look around and grab a coffee from the cafe. Normally no issues here. But today was another story. They have now launched Xmas which I love but the whole centre just felt unloved. It was messy, untidy, Empty racks. Being a manager of a shop myself I would be horrified if my shop looked like this. Nothing blew me away and will delay in return here. On leaving 4 members of staff were stood at the till area chatting. Think really they should have been tidying.

We arrived at about 6pm, looked around and could see there were empty tables. A sign told us to wait to be seated and we could see staff wandering around, but it was like we were invisible. When someone eventually came over to see us, we were told the restaurant was fully booked but we could go in the bar area. Strange considering that there were plenty of empty tables, whereas in the bar area there was only one table left. It was unpleasant as it was so noisy, no soft furnishings and too many children to make plenty of noise, unlike the restaurant. When we got our food, well, I've been disappointed but this was dreadful. My husband had meat pie, chips and mushy peas. The pie had hardly any meat in it, and the mushy peas were an afterthought, as he had a tablespoon at most. I had lasagne and had asked to have chips and salad instead of garlic bread. I ended up with garlic bread, a few chips and a mouthful of salad that must have been hanging around for hours. As for the lasagne, it looked more like something I would feed to my dog! It's not the first time we've been here and been disappointed, but after this experience we will not be going back. I'd have had a better meal at McDonalds!

Visited today for shopping and lunch. Although it was not even 3pm all hot food was finished courtesy of a big paper sign stuck to the board. The menu displays various items under the heading SERVED ALL DAY but obviously this isn’t true? Suspecting then that this may be either reduced hours due to winter months (?) or a problem in the kitchen, we asked the lady serving on the till if this was a one off. We just got a very stony look and a “cheese scone then?” reply. We bought the tea and a cheese scone. Scone was so dry and there was long strips of aluminium in the butter pats. Teapots leaked and tea tasted cheap. Coming from Tenterden to Maidstone to enjoy our afternoon, we realised best not to bother next time as we certainly have nicer cafes nearer home. Makes me think, when retail business close, why customers are often blamed for not using the businesses? Maybe the businesses should try harder to give people a good service and make them want to return? Definitely would not recommend.

As my friend and I are both Notcutts members, we decided to give our nearest café another try as it was supposed to be upgraded. It was quite busy as it seemed to have a group booking. When we went to order we were told we needed a table number - you need to get a reserved plaque from the counter, go and find a table, lose your place in the queue, etc. The jacket potato was OK, but £1.25 extra for a spoonful of baked beans was a bit excessive. The ambience is sadly lacking . . . it was very hot and clammy with poor, if any, air conditoning. (Not a particularly hot day). Notcutts is a garden centre with both fresh and dried plants and flowers that could really make the café so much more appealing. The outside area is frankly depressing - old and tatty tables and chairs, no view, just grey.

Call here every few weeks on a weekday morning for the small breakfast, consisting of bacon rasher, sausage, fried egg, fried tomato and the menu says baked beans, but as my friend and I don’t like those for breakfast, they are good enough to swap them for fried potatoes that come with the bigger breakfast. Now few places do fried sliced potatoes and I can recommend these. Far better than a manky hash brown most places do. However, if you want breakfast after 11am they do chips instead of fried potatoes. With the small breakfast you also get one slice of toast, and can choose brown or white. You can help yourself to a portion of jam or marmalade near the checkout.

There is often a poor selection of sandwiches/baguettes on offer. There is a cake selection but not very tempting and somewhat over priced. The menu never seems to change just the same choices on a board at the back of the counter. Seating is about 90 people, but when it is busy and most tables are taken it seems to me to be a bit claustrophobic, there are no outside windows just views of Norcutts stock. Prices are reasonable, the service is good and the staff efficient, we normally do not wait long for our order. The garden centre itself has quite good stock and has a very good display of Christmas items. There are also a lot more independent shops and outlets on site. This place always seems so dated with it's stuffy looking stores inside and rather slow till operators. These things have never changed since day one many years ago. The cafe has hard rigid plastic seats reminiscent of a bus station waiting room and smells at times like a greasy spoon. This would not be my idea of place to spend an hour or two on a wet afternoon even. Chilston Manor hotel is a lovely hotel with friendly staff but I and my husband were very disappointed with what they call a luxury afternoon tea…we had three little finger sandwich's with hardly any filling in them….dry scones…what was nice was the sausage roll,we had to ask for the tea as it didn’t arrive, when it did it was stewed & strong…will be returning NO !!!!
