The food is to die for! Great vibe and very reasonably priced too. I'd recommend booking though.

Great food, great service, great place. But I think i could’ve easily eaten 2 mains, they definitely should increase the portion size for the price. That said, with chips, it almost balances out.

A really fab find today . Northern soul playing , great food , lovely staff , dog friendly and a buzzing atmosphere . What’s not to love . Made me want to move to Slaithwaite . I want to be a regular .

Lovely lunch, not your standard fare. We really enjoyed the tasty burrito and loaded fries, just disappointed they didn't have any beer on ( out if gas)

We were in Slaithwaite and wanted some lunch. We decided to try Northern Sole even though we knew it was quite small inside. It was busy but we were offered table which had just been vacated and needed to be set before we could sit down. The premises are licenced - we ordered diet cokes which were served whilst we examined the menu. We has the macaroni cheese and the chilli con carne bowl. It seemed to take a while for the food to arrive but we did begin to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. The food was worth waiting for. It was fresh and plentiful and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. We will be visiting again.

Northern Sole has always been special - we’ve loved it since the start. That’s why I couldn’t think of a better venue for my husband’s surprise 60th. We had the whole place for 40 family and close friends. Carl just sorted everything with no fuss - timings, food choices, layout. What can I say - it was amazing! Carl & Sarah hosted and were part of the celebration. Everyone loved every bit of it - the venue, the warm welcome, the amazing food, just everything. Guests that had never been before will definitely go back, they were so impressed. We couldn’t have wished for more, it was perfect ❤️ xx

This place is one of the best things to happen to Slaithwaite village. The food is AMAZING, staff super friendly and they know the area so well, and general atmosphere is just such a good vibe. It’s never disappointed. I’m a local and bring all my friends and family who come to visit to this place as it’s A MUST VISIT! Can’t wait to come back! And thanks for being so dog friendly!

This place was brilliant when we went. The macaroni and cheese that they do is absolutely amazing and tasted really good. They play good music as well. 10/10. Would definitely come here again. 👍😋

Our first visit of the year and didn't disappoint. A warm welcome and the staff are all lovely. Carl as always bobbed out of the kitchen to say hi and check all was well (of course it was) delicious veggie special (chickpea curry) recommend if you haven't tried it to give it a go (breakfast is equally as good BTW!)

Cosy cafe great for breakfast. I go here regularly. There's a lovely little outdoor area in the summer nice place to stop in while on a walk.

Called for a coffee whilst walking round Saltaire- we sat outside with the dog in cosy corner where blankets and heaters were provided- staff very attentive and lovely coffee, the whole place had a good vibe and will definitely return.

Great little place. They made us feel very welcome. The staff are really attentive and personable, not like robots serving, but characterful and it makes the whole place feel like home. I go to Northern Sole regularly when walking with my two dogs. I have also been to the comedy and music nights. I always get a very warm welcome from all the staff. I always find the food to be excellent and good value. The music and general vibe of the cafe is great. I walk all over with my dogs and can say that this is the best cafe I have been to. Best wishes to all the staff for Christmas.

Christmas Tapas with a northern twist, absolute genius! Turkey and stuffing croquettes with a gravy dipping pot, hoisin sprouts, pigs in parkas with honey and loads more. Great quality and great prices. The service, music, decor and atmosphere are equally as good as the food. So good in fact we're trying to book again for today but with the whole family in tow.

Fantastic night at the comedy night. Great atmosphere and wonderful tapas can't wait to go back. we all loved it!!

One of our favourites usually, but the Christmas menu waa a dissapointment for me. Ridiculous portions, for £7-8 I was expecting more then 2 bites of food. Not much choice either. Walked away hungry.

You know what.... I always forget about this place but I've been a few times and continue to be blown away by how friendly the staff are and how great the food is. I've made a promise to myself to remember Northern Sole and to pop in every time I'm in Slaithwaite.

Northern Sole is a cool cafe bar on the canal towpath of Slaithwaite serving up breakfasts by day and a mixed selection of Street Food by night- there is a bit of Greek, Japanese and Indonesian on the menu. We only called in for a drink but we couldnt pass up the opportunity to sample a little something from the menu, opting for Southern American BBQ. The atmosphere here is fantastic playing a wide mix of classic tunes. The staff are super friendly and the drinks selection is great. They have lots of cool events on throughout the year from Stand-Up Comedy to Live Singers. We definitely need to go back on empty stomachs to indulge an early morning breakfast as well as more of the evening menu- check out their fantastic festive themed evening tapas available through December We had the Tiger Rag Tin Lid BBQ (Homemade Louisana Pulled BBQ Beef, Cajun Chicken Tenders, Mac n Cheese, Fries, Pickles, Corn, Slaw, Mustard Mayo, Homemade BBQ Sauce). First up that pulled beef was so sticky sweet yet smokey at the same time- i would love to try that on a Hotdog or Burger. Next was a generous helping of crispy Chicken that had that nice spicy heat and smokey paprika flavour. The Mac had so much bubbly creamy cheese and had the perfect bake on top. The two dipping sauces were the perfect opposite combo of sweet and sharp. It is such a versatile dish as it serves well as both a comforting winter warmer or a sharing summer BBQ platter. This is the individual portion but you can also get it as a sharer for two.

One of my favourite food places in slaithwaite. We frequently visit for breakfast and lunch. Staff are always very welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere is great always busy with a variety of people of all ages. The food is always fantastic. The breakfast Bu rritos are always a favourite in the morning and then the loaded dogs in the afternoon are awesome. Not to forget the grilled cheese sandwiches which are my wife's favourite. The range of coffee is freshly ground and delicious too.

Food and coffee was very nice but £9.30 for a bacon bap and a black coffee is a bit pricey. Update Carl (Northern Sole) responded to the above and confirmed it was an overcharge and it will be sorted out. As food and service is so good wewill bee back. Thanks Carl :-)

Regular visit with old guys out for lunch. Great food and plenty of beers etc to choose from. Some of my friends regularly come to the comedy shows here and rate them highly.

We sat outside next to the heater... It was heaven. The food is delicious, I had a pulled meat sandwich.... The meat was tender and the bread was like butter in your mouth. I also recommend the Mexico fries, not spicy at all and topped with chilli, guac, sour cream and Pico. The staff is lovely and attentive .. will definitely come back.

A fabulous evening with family. Northern Sole is so chilled you relax as soon as you walk in. And the kind of place that can cater for all. Had a lovely two course meal with excellent wine and beer. Service was friendly, professional and timely. Thank you to all the wonderful staff and Carl. x

Love this place ! It’s our regular Friday morning dog walking treat . The Wigan Casino Breakfast 🌯 Burrito is a thing of wonder - how is it possible to fit a Full English in a wrap ? Wonderful stuff . All swilled down with lovely coffee .

Good food, decent value but seriously let down by slow and chaotic service, also felt the staff were rude! (Going off other criticism here I expect a bible from the owner, and how this never happens as they have other 5 star reviews 🤣)

Gorgeous cafe! Lovely to sit inside or outside (which has heaters, shelter and cushions!), has very tasty food, great selection of drinks and friendly staff. A gem of a place.

Great customer service.... We'd called in for one drink this afternoon whilst out for a walk and inadvertently left without paying! We got so swept up in the chilled out seating area in the sunshine and music. We realised about an hour later and rang straight away, we offered to pay over the phone and apologised for our error to be told, "thankyou for your honesty have the drinks on us" what a lovely generous offer. We'll definitely be back....and this time we'll pay!!

Amazing little place right next to the canal. Great food, great atmosphere, great location, great service. Real nice buzz about the place. Dog friendly too if you have one. Well worth a visit if you're ever in Slaithwaite.

We visited midweek for lunch with our 6 year old Grandson. We booked in advance and had a table inside. The food was lovely and the staff polite and efficient. We first ate here for breakfast last year and always said we would come back. We were not disappointed. A very popular place, if we lived in the area we would eat here more often. Highly recommend!

Went here today as I have heard good things about this place. Never again! Rude, patronising staff. Made the heinous mistake of walking through an open door to the garden area that was very poorly signed as staff only to get lectured too from two members of staff in the space of a minute. Who do they think they are! Went to vanilla pod and spent my money there instead!

Called in Saturday afternoon a couple of weeks ago with my friend, they didn't have the white wine we like (Pinot) so I ordered 2 prosecco's which are small bottles!!! The Bill came to £18!! £9 each!!! If it wasn't for the entertainment, a young guy singing!!! You would have got only 1 star, think we will give your bar a miss in future

Hands down the best breakfast EVER, fresh tomatoes (not tinned) herby mushrooms, the meat is local and delicious as is the veg, from the greengrocer across the road!! The staff are delightful and so helpful to getting cushions for my husband to be able to sit comfortably to checking if we need a top up on our drinks, attentive but not intrusive. Great background music too. So, thank you Northern Sole you now have a couple more regulars. John and Debbie x

We visited on Sunday mid morning...it was busy but we got seated straight away. The food was lovely...a little bit of a wait but to be expected and was very tasty.

My first visit today for lunch as a group of 4. Not nice weather outside, but still busy and buzzing. A great welcome, lovely staff, plenty of choice on the menu. One vegetarian in our party and plenty of choice for him too. Looking forward to returning and trying the outside seating. Thanks to Carl for our online reservation.

Love this place. Interesting decor, good music and great food. Lots of wraps, toasted sandwiches, burgers and dogs as well as salads, loaded fries and Mac and cheese. Caters for vegetarian, vegan and gluten free. Live events too.

Went here on Sunday and wished we hadn't. Not a friendly place at all. I asked a waitress for water for our dog. She didn't bring any. When I went to pay for our food she was sat at a table looking at her phone. Also when I went to pay for food..I stood at the til and another waitress stood there looking down and completely ignored me and walked off. I must have been stood in front of her for 5 mins. A lovely blonde waitress apologised and took my payment. She asked if everything had been OK. I said I did ask for some water for my dog...but the girl sat there didn't bring any. A man behind the bar said for future ref there are bowls outside at the front. I said we'll how would we know that. We actually came in around the back. I've never been in to such a rude place. And also such miserable staff. Except for the blonde waitress who was very nice. The food wasn't wonderful either. meal was just warm. I can't understand where these good reviews are coming from. Will never be going back.

Isn't it a pleasure when you have awesome service and food and you can tell the owners really care about their customers. After walking down from home in the searing heat! we were greeted by lovely cold beer and, even though we hadn't booked and it was super busy, the chef squeezed us in and made me possibly the tastiest Nasi Goreng I've had. Such a friendly atmosphere and the perfect place to relax in the cool courtyard. Keep it up Northern Sole Cafe, you're fab.

A quirky place, which serves a nice hot-dog, chips (french fries) and decent coffee. Being "dog- friendly" is a bonus too. If anything, I'd suggest putting some speciality burgers on the menu.

Called in this morning not sure what to expect. It was quite busy with a lovely atmosphere and great music. The cappuccino was exceptionally good and then we had the best breakfast that we have had in a long time. All the staff were very friendly. We will certainly be coming back.

We had a breakfast here . After the 30 minute wait we thought it would be at least hot. The sausages were definitely pre cooked and not warmed through properly. The toast had minimal butter on. We ordered poached eggs these were hard. Definitely won’t be returning

I visited with family today, I ordered the Thunder Road hot dog with skin on fries. When it arrived the skin on fries were missing, the waitress brought them straight away when I mentioned it. I then realised my hot dog didn't have the pickles or mustard! I just ate it without as I didn't want to bother her again as it was super busy. Definitely regretted my order choice when I tried my husbands sweet and smoky grilled cheese, amazing! Friendly staff, nice little outdoor area and I will be back for a grilled cheese of my own!

I’ve been to this little gem quite a few time for food and drinks but it’s the first time I’ve been to one of the evening gigs. I had a great night. There was a lovely atmosphere, excellent food, great staff and the live gig with David Spong just added to the whole experience. Will be returning.

Northern Sole Cafe is a great little place with a nice outdoor seating area. The food is great and the staff are amazing, you can reserve a table or just pop in, they also can prepair your food for collection to take away, which is very handy. I highly recommend this place, its tucked away on the canal bank.

Came in this morning - 2 breakfasts - one vegetarian option - fantastic big plates of hot food - great coffee. Friendly staff and great atmosphere/music. Nice inside, somewhat chaotic though. Though it looks great, this cafe provides a painfully slow takeaway service. Avoid in the mornings unless you have time to spare, i.e A 20 mins plus wait for takeout coffees, is really unacceptable. Coffee and cake are pretty good, but not that good. Sadly this is now twice in a row on a Sunday morning, this does mean no repeat business from us.
