Very lovely and beautiful place. Polite and extremely friendly staff with great attention to detail. From start to finish, the food was simply outstanding ,excellent portion sizes and the music was on point. I would be happy to come back to this establishment without a second thought about it

Very relaxed atmosphere,quirky. I wouldn't call it a student pub but they do get alot of students in their,(basically cause it's around Newcastle university)Thursday night so it was a quiz night so it was getting packed around 19.15, I was there with my son so we got there for 16.00,few drinks and I had pizza he had burger and chips,he said"that was bloody lovely" I couldn't eat all my pizza(solely because it was some size) they boxed what was left, we vacated around 19.30 only because we had ate and couldn't drink any more and the quiz was about to start,had a lovely time 😄

Really lush little bar. I was served by a lovely lass on her first shift and she smashed it. Nice atmosphere and fair amount of space. Food looked insane as well but we just got drinks. Definitely will be back.

My girlfriend and I visited with some friends and ordered pizza and a pint as per Saturday offer. We both enjoyed the food and the pub had a nice atmosphere. (Just a shame that the gluten free option has a supplementary charge.) It was however nice to see a gluten free option offered and my coeliac girlfriend was impressed with the pizza. Later in the evening, she became unwell and it seems she must have been glutened. I understand that this can happen, but would just like to suggest that staff may receive some extra allergen training going forward to prevent this happening to other customers with coeliac disease. The base definitely appeared to be gluten free but there may have been some cross-contamination in the kitchen. A nice afternoon with friends in a nice pub, but just a shame it ended how it did!

Past this pub on a walk around town so thought we'd give it a shot. Not a bad place, was quiet when we got there at about 15:45 on a Saturday and soon filled up by the time we left. £10.10 for a pint of Guinness and a pint of draft cider.

What an amazing place full of character and a wonderful friendly atmosphere. Been here a few times and we’ve always been made really welcome. The staff are great and always have a story. Great layout inside so you can go somewhere a bit more quiet if your a couple or want to have a few drinks with friends. The food as always is great using fresh veggies and the meats are spot on as well. I’ve recommended it to friends who have had similar experiences. Would recommend it to anyone who’s visiting Newcastle City Centre.

Was there at the weekend for a meal with my son. The place had a wonderful atmosphere and the staff were really welcoming me and were super helpful. We ordered a dinner and the food was fantastic. All the vegetables were fresh (none of this pre frozen stuff) really crunchy and full of taste. The meat was also amazing with it been prepared so it just fell apart. I will be going back again and have told a number of my friends and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a friendly pub with a fab atmosphere with great food and a good price.

Nice pub, but only has cask ale on sometimes, and usually only one on.

A quick cheese burger and fries. The young lady and chef were superb, very pleasant, very professional. Highly recommended.

Hello, so basically wish I hadn't gone today. The staff were really nice, and the pub is very cozy, yet everything else was terrible from the food having no seasoning, to overpriced menus that were incorrectly published - when I was paying at the bar, it was much more than expected. Even with student discount, i would not recommend, and truthfully wish I could reverse time. Also, I had to move tables (which there were none so had to leave) because of a quiz, this was upsetting so please tell your customers before they pay that they have to eat their food within a small time period, thanks. BTW, not too far from this pub is a cute Italian Restaurant called Little Nino's, defo recommend.

Always wanted to go in after many rvi appointments really impressed nice feel to the place quite a lot of real ales quick food menu assume popular with university students quite a mix of people in when I was there eating so assume lot of local people know the place could not have been more pleasantly surprised definitely some where I would go if I lived closer barman when I was ln could not have been more friendly David

The pizzas are really really good, and only for £6 during tuesday and friday! The pie dough was not bready like with other pizza places.

This a good example of a Heineken linked pub. A good selection of spirits available and shots too. The food is tasty with a wide selection of pizza's and gourmet burgers. Perfect for afterwork drinks! Custom neon signs add a modern flair.

Decided to go for a pint at the north terrace and ended up being physically abused by the manager for not ordering enough drinks. Would not recommend going here if you want a relaxing pint.

Awful hospitality from a good pub. We went to the north terrace to watch the FA cup final and all was going smoothly we had spent a total of 85£ on food and drink. During extra time the manager kicked a table out next to us for drinking tap water when 3 of them were drinking pints. Penalties came around and we were planning on leaving at the end of the game when the manager approached us for the same supposed ‘offence’. He told us that we had to leave due to our consumption of tap water while 6 empty pints were still on display. We rightly refused and told him that we had all bought food and we’re just watching the football and told him we would leave at the end of the Match. Following this refusal we were manhandled while he tried to take the chairs from underneath us. We politely left through penalties as he threatened to turn the TV off for the rest of the pub. We we’re also returning customers. Awaful hospitality from a manager in the ‘Hospitality’ industry. I shall not be returning and will take my business to the Cozy Dove.

The manager was physically violent towards customers, his reason being that a couple of groups of students, who had been in the pub for a couple of hours and spent over £80 on food and drink had a few glasses of tap water which is unacceptable apparently. We did not receive a sensible explanation and were kicked out half way through a penalty shoot-out. Following our exit we were approached by staff who apologised for his actions, clearly proving he is in the wrong. Woeful.

Excellent customer service and a nice venue for a small group meeting. Lovely choices of pizza and sides.

Great atmosphere and good selection of draught beers. Also they kitchen serving is pretty quick and the pizzas are really nice. Great offer pizza and pint for a tenner which you can't beat. Would definitely be back next time I'm in Newcastle

Today was my first time visiting and impressed is an understatement. I planned to go for a quick drink after work with my co-worker but when I walked in was instantly hit by the smell of the kitchen and couldn’t resist. I’m gluten intolerant so eating out can be a pain; however, when I asked about ingredients the chefs were very helpful and informative and even had an option of a gluten free base for the pizza. It’s so great to see a place catering to all diets - options of vegan cheese and veggie burgers are also available! When the food arrived I was blown away by how amazing it looked and a great value for money. A wide variety of drinks were available even an alcoholic dandelion and burdock which I had to try. The bar staff were lovely and answered all my questions about the drinks and they even had the option of terrace pale (I recommend trying this!) I had the privilege of sitting in the raised area which is a cosy part of the pub where the music is turned down and overall gives a chilled vibe. It was decorated beautifully and very modern, there was cosy chairs and a gorgeous neon sign. This pub is very versatile in the aspect of who goes there - there was a variety of students, families and even dogs! I couldn’t recommend this pub more! Definitely will be visiting again. Despite being from Newcastle, I'd never actually heard of this pub. I tried it one night, and think I can work out why. It's completely devoid of any atmosphere, despite the fact that students can actually bring a lot of character to a pub, that was obviously not working here. Bar staff were inattentive at best and rude at worst. I wasn't surprised to see the snotty responses they give to negative reviews below on this site - especially the comment about someone not having English as their first language and therefore being suggested that someone else makes the booking for them? Maybe I'm living on another planet, but for all intents and purposes in my opinion, that verges on racist. Pubs are an important part of any community, but this one just feels like it's there purely to pour slightly flat pints without a smile. The prices are fine, but there are hundreds of pubs in Newcastle and I would advise you to give this one a miss.

A group of us went to the pub after reading it had vegge options. I ordered a pizza and asked if it could be made vegan. Unfortunately it came with bacon, which I asked politely if it could be swapped as I understand mistakes can happen. However, the manager came over and aggressively told us he would not swap it and that I was lying that I had asked for a vegan pizza. This was despite that I had checked twice and even paid extra for vegan cheese. I later asked for a refund, for which the manager called me childish and told me to leave. This was completely unprofessional and ruined the experience for everyone, especially since we were considerate and didn't get angry. It was otherwise a nice pub, but one I would avoid until management changes.

They couldn't care less about people in this place. pre-book a room for a Christmas party, had to cancel almost a month in advance as we have a spike of Covd cases in the office so we can not risk having a party in a public space. I was told by the manager that we can not the money back and we can have the arty later next year, I explain that ii is not my decision I can't make that comment as it is a corporate party. but she didn't care, no money back. also found out the £50 you pay is just for booking the space! which is basically a space in the pub! that money won't go towards drinks or food, just for the space which was never explained to us when doing the payment !!! so basically, no party, no money back and have to explain to people now that we lost the deposit !!! unavailable bad customer service! never again!

Brilliant Pub Quiz, our group are regularly there each week. Pizzas are incredible. Christian, Craig and the rest of the staff are amazing, so welcoming and provide a great atmosphere. Highly recommend!!

Visited today and wow! 2-4-1 on pizzas which is unbeatable considering the quality and service provided alongside it. Vibe of the pub was rustic and hippy and very popular. Great staff, they were very helpful and I was greeted with a smile. I definitely will be returning again next time for Weiner Wednesday (hotdog and chips for £5!!) Well done to owner(s).

Me and my friends only came for the pub quiz and it was disappointing. So many fun pub quizzes in Newcastle and really professionally done. This one wasnt up to par and the questions were quite boring. Quizmaster clearly just googled for quiz questions without doing further research so were outdated. Dont think you can really be a quizmaster if you dont know the answer to your own general knowledge questions. All we ask for is a bit of effort :( If you're coming for drinks at the pub this one is fine. Its decent. Has a very characterless student energy to it. If you like to feel old and out of place its definitely the place for you.

Nice little pub close to work. I hear the pizzas are amazing from multiple sources. We just stopped in for a drink, but once I try the food I will update (note: the pizzas looked amazing). The staff was friendly and prompt. I recommend. Update: I finally tried the pizza and it was worth the hype! Highly recommend

Some staff members are so dismissive, bordering on rude. Closed before 10 on a Saturday; claiming they wouldn't make any money, we were spending at least £15 a round and there were 20 more in the place 'but not enough students' all your eggs in one basket, always a good idea, and forget the locals who finish work at 8pm and just want to chill. Nice bar but not worth even going anymore.

£7.05 for a pint and half a coke. Yes you read that right HALF a coke!!!!! Me and my good friend Steven decided on an afternoon in the Toon. I was driving so only had one pint then onto the soft drinks. We visited 8 bars from 2pm till 8pm and this was by far the most expensive. The other bars were in the city centre so I am presuming they have higher costs, rent etc but they were all cheaper than this place. Our round in the Crows Nest about 5 minutes walk from the North Terrace was nearly £1.50 cheaper and that was for two pints of beer. Cheapest round of the day was in the The Keel Row in the Gate- £2.19 for a pint and £0.00 for a soda water!!!! They know how to look after the designated driver. Could have had 3 rounds there and change compared to North Terrace. The bar itself has a nice feel to it but wont be back at these prices.

Came for the £5 pizza deal. When ordering was told you need to buy a drink, so ordered a pint of coke that was £3 - extortionate! Pizza took a long time to come and was average at best. Disappointed as I had heard good things.

Staff are friendly and welcoming to add to the quaint atmosphere. The location is central for uni students and hospital staff so it does tend to get busy at expected hours, especially on a Friday evening. However the service is still consistent regardless of how busy it is. Food is delicious and fresh and reasonably priced. One of the only issues is parking, as you will struggle to park close, however it is perfect for a taxi trip as you can be picked up and dropped off right near the door.

Popped in for a pub lunch on a Saturday for the pizza and a pint for £10 deal. Very welcoming and friendly, sat down in a cozy corner with our pram and enjoyed the rustic aesthetic of the bar. We ordered The Godfather and Notorious Big pizzas with two of the pubs own ales, a pint of lemonade and a plate of Dirty Curly fries for around £30. We watched as the chefs made the homemade pizzas in the kitchen window and they were phenomenal! Crispy and chewy sourdough base and fantastic toppings. They didn't have a baby change for us, understandable with it being a pub, but were very accommodating. 10/10, definitely coming back!

Busiest I've ever seen it although not a regular. Hand sanitizer at entrance, one way system marked but ignored by some. Staff on at about 4pm 20/8 very helpful and friendly. Limited on real cider but Symonds ok.

The North Terrace is a pub that traditionally was popular with the medical fraternity and students, being relatively close to the university and the Royal Victoria Infirmary, and it probably remains so. It offers a standard range of alcoholic drinks, with the addition of a couple of interesting ales, such as Beavertown Neck Oil , and there is food available too. The latter concentrates upon hot dogs, pizza, and fries and nachos, and these come in any number of permutations, with pulled pork and barbecue sauce for example. Decor is plain and unfussy, bar staff appear friendly and helpful, so if in Newcastle, give it a go!

Went to go to the Cosy Dove, but it was closed. Noticed this pub on the way back into town & that it was serving Sunday lunch. Really impressed with the dinner, great value. Nicely furnished too. Would definitely go back.

It is a OK place. Beer is Ok and they have a pretty good Friday deal for pizzas. One of the problems is that you can't pay just one pint with yoir credit card because they have a minimum amount for cards.. So you have to buy always something more...

A really nice place to go out for a few drinks but could do with a more eclectic selection on the pumps. Much improved on how it was a few years ago since its been taken over and revamped.

Came in for a pint, stayed for the food. Bought The Hog pizza and it tasted absolutely amazing. Would 100 percent recommend and I'll definitely be coming regularly.

Being so close to the university medical school this place is often the place to come for a nice quick lunch. Prices are reasonable, and food is nice with generous portions. Pizzas are a hit on a Friday for a fiver.
