North Star in Glasgow City

Haven’t tried food there, but coffee and staff are amazing. Every time I walk away with a smile and delicious cappuccino, definitely my go-to coffee shop in the area 🫶

“Trust me” this is a great cafe. Great coffee, strong, silky and smooth. We had vegan breakfast, including delicious tatie scone and vegan haggis. The kitchen is very clean and open to the public. Run by a lovely man from Naples who is delightful! Thank you for our dessert cannelloni pastry. Absolutely delightful.

An absolute HIDDEN GEM. I got a quick lunch on a busy Saturday - fresh made focaccia and I asked for a wee mug of their homemade mushroom soup and it was sensational. Seasoning perfect, great portion and staff were so sweet. I’ll be back again!

Although the food was satisfying, the service and care was absolutely not! We've waited 15 minutes till the waiter came for us. And then 40 minutes more until the food actually came. Would definitely never go there again!

I come here every weekend with my girlfriend and we have become friends with the owner Pasquale. He always says hello to us and finds time to chat when he’s not too busy. The coffee is amazing and the food is a wonderful mix of Italian classics and more general breakfast food. Everything is made with care and the desserts are TO DIE FOR. We recently had their special fried chicken French toast which they only serve occasionally but are considering to put on the main menus. Really hoping that they do 🤞

My boyfriend and I visit this cafe at least once a week. The environment is amazing and incredibly friendly. The food is also wonderful and I always find something new I want to try on each visit. It is the best cafe to visit for a nice brunch. I highly recommend the eggs benedict and any specials they may be offering (they are very creative and delicious).

I visited twice over Christmas as I was staying at the nearby Ambassador Hotel. I had eggs Hebridean and Benedict on my 2 visits and Coffee. On both occasions my choice was cooked to perfection and the Coffee was beautiful. The staff are fantastic, so friendly and attentive. In an area of the city where competition is massive I would say they are at the top of their game. I will be back on my next Glasgow visit.

Honestly can’t praise this place enough, coffee is thee best I’ve ever tasted in Glasgow. Cakes are delicious and plentiful. I’ve not had a savoury dish yet but I’ll definitely be back to try more on this amazing menu. Staff and service truly exceptional. Defo worth a visit and I’ll be making many more.

Friendly cafe . Menu was great for breakfasts … we had between us Shakshuka , veggie omelette , full Scottish breakfast & sausage baps . So lots of choices for different taste buds ! We aren’t local but will revisit when in area again ! Staff lovely .

North Star has reopened but the menu is different and much more Scottish/traditional breakfast style. Still decent grub and nice staff though

Been going to the North Star Cafe for years now. The quality of their food and drink is consistently good and their recent refresh has given the place a brighter atmosphere whilst retaining that cosy familiar feel, been served by a handful of people over the years and they have always been welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend!

Got a beautiful focaccia from here - salami, soft cheese and grilled courgettes. Absolutely beautiful! And service always so nice, polite and friendly.

We absolutely love this hidden gem on Queen Margaret Drive, a stone's throw to all of the west end amenities but also a nice retreat from the hustle and bustle of Byres Road. Very tasty menu items, we usually go here for brunch or late lunch. The coffee is delicious and the owners are really friendly and helpful.

The location is very nice, vibrant colours with some cute plants and objects that reminds Italy and everything looks tidy and clean. The menu offer a lot of different foods. We opted for a sandwich sausages and friarielli and and a casserole with tomatoes sauce, beans, egg and sausages and both were really tasty. The coffee i ordered was really nice and at perfect temperature (and boiled milk i tried in other places!). The desserts displayed look all nice and the one i picked i found delicious. The prices are very reasonable and the service, even if was managed by only two people, was brilliant! I’m come back for sure!

Friendly staff, coffee was lovely Food was very nice but could have been served hotter as arrived at table within 10-15 mins but was already luke warm. Only small selection of tables but catered for us

First time visiting, I believe it may have changed owners recently. Breakfast rolls were superb. They clearly use good produce, the sausages were lovely. Cakes were brilliant also. We were taking away but the little seated area was spotless and modern. Some of the dishes we noticed the chef cooking up looked lovely, we'll be back to try more :)

North start reopened with new ownership in February 2023. We had a couple of coffees, an omelette and sourdough toast with sausage egg and roasted pepper. Atmosphere, service and our orders were all excellent. We will be back!

Heard that there are new owners so popped in to see if it's improved which it's fair to say it has, the owners are much more friendly and attentive, the coffee was great and the food was amazing, the decor is beautiful too, the music is better and overall just a much nicer atmosphere!

Delicious café near the Botanic Garden. The space is beautiful, the food wonderful. I recommend the torta della nonna. Will come back on my next visit to Glasgow.

Just wow what a lovely place. As a couple of students, we managed to eat and drink substantial meals and high quality coffee and chai latte. My veggie burrito however was missing the chilli mayo on the menu. Totally even forgot about that, it was that insane! Please stay awesome and affordable as you are. Definitely do wish that the seating area is nicer.

Been a few times and always enjoyed it (good food, big portions, friendly service) but had some really spotty sevice on a recent visit. Waited an age to get our order taken then kept having to ask for basic things like cutlery or milk snd sugar for the tea. Food was good when it arrived though. They were busy so I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt just put it down to a bad day.

Not sure when it changed hands from the people after the Italian couple, but this was the first time I had been since it was extended into next door. Staff were very friendly but not particularly attentive. Food was good without being outstanding. Coffee was excellent and the price point was reasonable for quality and location. However, the cafe staff allowed, almost encouraged people who had dogs up onto the table and chairs. Staff Handling and petting them then working away on cafe duties is disgusting and a red flag for hygiene. They allowed dogs onto the tables. Who would want to eat off a table knowing a canine had its filthy paws (and other parts) on it? Wont be back.

Cannot go wrong with this place. The food is always delicious, the portions are generous and the staff is always friendly and attentive. They also serve the best french toast in Glasgow!

Very friendly, quick service, amazing food and coffee.

Quaint little find near the Botanical Gardens in Glasgow. Their portions are VERY generous. I had the Sourdough Salmon with scrambled eggs. The sourdough was toasted so VERY HARD to chew. I asked for fresh sourdough with butter and they were very accommodating. My daughter had the poached egg on avocado toast with a side of bacon. The bacon was over cooked but again they gave us fresh bacon when we mentioned it. The lovely waitress couldn’t do enough for us. Also try the Nutella French brioche toast. The meaty burrito had toooo much chorizo. Otherwise I would definitely recommend this café, as they are willing to accommodate any needs.

Great local cafe where I pop into whenever I work in the area for my daily dose of soup with amazing toasted sourdough. Super friendly staff...thank you 👏👏

Delicious coffee and bacon roll.

Apparently new management but superlative food and coffee. We had a special, ciabatta with streak and castel blue cheese, and eggs royale. Generous portions and delicious fresh food. Cannot fault. Service great too. We'll be back soon.

I've just had the most delicious brunch here. Being on a keto diet can make things a little awkward when ordering food but the super friendly waitress let me swap some bits about and I ended up with the most delicious, carb-free meal (the meat breakfast burrito, without the wrap if anyone's interested). The place is friendly, cosy and really good food. Would recommend 👌🏻

Been several times to meet friends and family for coffee or lunch as its nearby for us all. The staff are always helpful and polite - they will discuss the menu and ask the chef if he can make small changes like less chili etc. The staff seem to enjoy working there and are a great team Ive had several items from the menu but you cant beat their breakfasts - even the bacon roll seems extra! Im a fussy coffee drinker but they take it in their stride and now remember what I like when I go in, It always seems busy and has a fun vibe about it. The billionaires shortbread is amazing but too much in one go, fortunately if you ask they will box up anything for you to take home.

Nice little greasy spoons cafe near the Glasgow Botanic Gardens. Got a pot of tea. Seemed fairly priced. Had a toilet you could use.

A great little cafe, with a friendly helpful team, the food and confectionary is awesome, I highly recommend the empire biscuits, I look forward to this every Sunday morning.

Delicious! Top quality ingredients and interesting menu. We had the saltbeef stack, and the salmorejo, both on sourdough. Attention to detail: even the olive oil drizzled on the rocket salad on top of the salmorejo is outstanding (amazingly peppery note to it). The staff were lovely and the cappuccino's spot on. Highly recommended!

Was disappointed on my last visit to this cafe. I came here once with my brother and we had a great breakfast and coffee. I then took my partner there hoping for the same experience. I placed my order and stood outside with my coffee - in view of the staff, and waited over half an hour for my order. When I went inside to ask about it, they had forgotten. I was in a rush so left without a refund or my food. Not a great experience

We both had food from the specials board - beef and chorizo burger with sweet potato fries and aioli, and vegetable hash with fried egg. Both meals were really brilliant and the breakfast that the person on the next table had ordered looked fantastic as well. Portions are generous, staff are really friendly and efficient. The place was going through some refurb when we were in but still cosy and a nice place for a good lunch. Nice coffee. Reasonably priced.

Me my mum and brother visited for some lunch today from Edinburgh. I had the goats cheese, caramelised onion & spinach toasted ciabatta with lentil soup - huge portions and absolutely delicious. My mum had the special (chickpea skillet w poached eggs) which was cooked to perfection. My brother had the full veggie breakfast which looked delightful. An amazingly tasty and filling lunch for a fraction of the price it would be in Edinburgh. On top of this the service was so friendly and helpful - the gentleman who I think was the manager answered all of my mums (annoying) questions and was so lovely! Thanks guys

Great service and superlative French toast!

Great breakfast at really good prices. Staff are lovely & don't try to hurry you off your table before you're ready. Very chilled atmosphere, can't wait to go back to try the Sunday roast 🍲🍽️

Amazing french toast with maple syrup

The food was clearly not cooked fresh, tasted like food left over from a take away the night before and the order was wrong. My patents knew the old owners and they really cared and have been going for many years and I can positively say we will not be stepping foot in the door again.

Staff are in need of training, basic things matter like not ignoring your customers, smiling and getting orders correct. This place has been going down hill for a long time

Mi amigo y yo tuvimos un desayuno estupendo en North Star. El personal era muy acogedor y la comida y la bebida eran excelentes. Compartimos un desayuno caliente, cada artículo era el mejor producto local, cocinado a la perfección. ¡Esperamos volver pronto!

Tardamos una hora y media en llegar (el tiempo de entrega se alargaba) y cuando llegó hacía frío y poco apetecible. La calidad de la comida no sabía muy bien. Si la comida hubiera llegado a tiempo y caliente, la comida habría sabido mejor. ¡La entrega debe solucionarse! !
