Big Bear in Glasgow City

Can genuinely say that Big bear is the best bakery in my opinion in most of Scotland, and yes I have tried them. Soz Lannan, hobs etc Cream cheese cinnamon bun is to die for and my daily must have, and cant recommend enough just don't take them all. Staff are absolutely amazing and strange as it sounds actually consider them to be friends. Who doesn't love a bestie complete with cake?

amazing pastries! my fave treat <3 I love the caramel apple danish and the cherry croissant knot I love that the flavours change every so often/seasonally so there’s something new to try, and that they regularly update their Instagram stories with their menu and remaining products it is also useful that you can pre-order pastries so that you don’t miss out as it is a popular place

The best bakery on the southside of Glasgow, which is staying something considering the quality there is around the area. Pastries, cookies and cakes are all phenomenal and they have a great variety too. Genuinely hardest part is choosing what to get. Staff are really friendly too.

The type of place you get out of bed on a Sunday morning to wait outside (often in the rain), for them to open (and expect to have plenty of company!) The stuff of legend at this point, recommend the cardamon monkey bun and the black sesame sourdough, although every time you go in you’ll be met with new baked goods.

Amazing selection of goodies! Faves got to be the sesame sourdough, various croissants & we once got a Pistachio & Carrot cake which was just incredible. Big plus is that the daily menu (with stock updates throughout the day) is available via their insta stories. Even if I’m not going that day I’ll be screenshotting and sharing with people just to go “LOOK”!

Came at the end of the day, around 4pm. They luckily still had items to choose from. The monkey roll and raspberry croissant were very good! A few wee stools outside to sit on as they were in the process of closing no inside option then.

Beautiful bread, so delicious. Service very nice and friendly. It is rather cramped in the store though, so everyone winds up squashed or stuck outside queuing in the miserable weather and it is VERY overpriced for coffee in a teeny cup. Really really dear. I understand costs are going up but the coffee is just so flippin expensive and not even served in a regular sized cup. The cakes are all so dear too. They are nice, yes, but dear. They should bring out a coffee loyalty card - that would make it less painful when buying coffee ! I spend a lot here, over £20 each time I go, and it is very dear although I do also appreciate the quality. Just feel the prices are central london prices for cakes, baguettes and take away focaccia sandwiches, and I have lived in central london - big bear's costs such as overheads and rent cannot possibly be the same as central London costs - so I'm unsure why it is so flippin expensive.

Great selection of pastries and bread. You know you're going to get something good when the queue is over 10 minutes long and taking up half the street. Parking is a nightmare but it's worth it.

So glad we came across this place! Did a pre-order for three cookie dough croissants. Absolutely huge, which was a pleasant surprise. One of the best things I've ever eaten. Filled to the brim with delicious frangipane and Nutella cookie dough. Cannot wait to come back and try more!

Amazing hidden gem. Had a hard time picking what we wanted as it all looked incredible. The almond croissant was as described in someone else’s review - probably the best almond croissant in the world. Amazing coffee, great service. Looking forward to trying the extra treats we got for later 😏 it’s probably a good job we don’t live locally otherwise I think this would be our daily breakfast

Best bakery in the area and always really friendly staff

Seen the treats on Instagram and finally got over to try them. We had sausage rolls to start. I don’t normally eat these but these were actually delicious. I got an almond croissant to takeaway to eat later. I’m recently back from Poland which had amazing croissants and these were able to match them. We’ve got a sourdough loaf to eat over the weekend and it smells and looks amazing. The staff were genuine and polite. My girlfriend and I can’t recommend the place enough. Thanks!

Good selection of pastries. Nicely baked. Hubby enjoyed his sour bread. But coffee and tea were quite disappointing for the price, the cups were tiny! I paid a similar price at another cafe nearby who gave me a pot of tea sitting in with a nice cup vs the wee plastic/paper cup they gave us. Serve them on bigger cups!

I realise I've never had an almond croissant before. I've had croissants with flakes of almond and a smear of almond paste. The delicious, indulgent, beautiful, opulent ALMOND croissant I had today possibly breached international guidance on maximum almondness. Crisp where it should be, soft and dreamy elsewhere, filled and I mean filled with sweet sticky almond paste. Bravo and thank you.

Went here three days in a row while on a four day trip to Glasgow. Would have gone four but it was closed Mondays. The English guy who works there is funny.

Wow what an amazing bakery and got there just in time before a huge queue out the door. I can see why though, an abundance of goodies for all.

Ordered some cakes for my husbands birthday and they were the most delicious things any of us have ever tasted. All of our friends loved the cakes too! Thanks so much and will be ordering more soon!

One of the best coffees I've ever had. Wish they did larger cups for the money. The bread is awesome. I bought 2 loaves of different sour dough, and their both delicious. First time there, and I'll defo be back. Bring on the larger cups!!

Upmarket bakery ran by two very passionate people, Ian and Dominique Pediani. They have a West end equivalent which offers the same. The sandwiches are delicious and change on a regular basis. Mouth-wateringly good and quite unique as they try new combinations of flavour in search of perfection ! They are Thurs to Sunday at present so maybe worth a buzz if you are making a longer journey. Trust me this is well worth the journey. Forget all you know about sandwiches and prepare your tastebuds to be tantalised !! Pic shows Pork Sui on focaccia. Dynamite on many levels, heavenly too !

When we saw the queue outside the ship we thought let’s go check this out. And we were not wrong. They have so many lovely cakes and biscuits in show. We bought some cookies and some danishes. Absolutely delicious. What a great find. We will be back

This place has some of the best pastries I ever had, thank glob I don't live too close or I would carry my whole paycheck here for those. unfortunately the two varieties of bread I've had so far, while being very tasty, were so porous that everything kinda drips through, so it wasn't as enjoyable to eat. Also we ordered a lemon meringue pie from them for our anniversary and each of us only had one slice because the crust was kinda soggy as if it wasn't blind baked enough to handle the lemon and the lemon itself was way too sweet so it didn't balance with the meringue at all and was also a not so nice texture like just a wee bit grainy. So if it was just the pastries I would give them five stars, with the bread it would still be four and unfortunately the pie brins it down to three, but I still very much recommend them and will be back.

This place is so nice it makes me want to eat as much as a big bear would. I've had the flan which simply melts away in your mouth in a moment of ecstasy. The coffees are great too. Last time I went they had this amazing looking cheesecake which I had to resist the temptation of buying but I have to say I've had dreams about it since. You just have to go here.

The food that you can buy here is absolutely delicious. There are some small park benches outside so that you could sit and eat your food there but they are small and the place is so busy but mostly this is for take away I'd say. The make fantastic sourdough bread and focaccia bread which seems to have different flavours each day. They also sell delicious croissants in a variety of flavours I had a chocolate orange one. There are cream cheese cinnamon buns, and more traditional things like empire biscuits, a Scottish fave! The most delicious thing though had to be the mozzarella and tomato pizza slice. I can highly recommend it it's a very large size and it is absolutely lovely. They let my dog coming to the shop to order because all of the food is behind the counter, so that's great too.

Such a wonderful selection of delicious pastries and bread. We got some great cinnamon rolls and sweet croissants. Our son has to eat Gluten free and they had a few delicious treats for him to choose from as well (which he said were fantastic). We also had some great hot chocolates and coffees. Wish we lived closer so we could go all the time!

On the way to Hampden to watch the football. Called in for some excellent coffee and the best Pastel de Nata I've had outside Lisbon. Team got beat but on the way back picked up some great sour dough.

I pick stuff up here every other week. The cakes, pastries, brownies and bread are fantastic, albeit pricey. The savoury foods like pies, rolls and sandwhiches aren't worth it, the veggie options are particularly underwhelming.

My first time here and I made it before they sold out of everything! but had sold out of a few things. This was a good thing as I had money left when I left 😁 Super kind and friendly team when I lost my purse. I blame the tastee baked goods. Have been again, I don't stay on the south side so it must be so great I am willing to travel. Thank you guys 😊

Thrilled to have picked up a vegetarian haggis pastry as a traveling non-meat-eater—absolutely delicious! And a gorgeous bramble bostock. I just wish my stomach were larger. Amazing assortment, everything appears to have been executed to perfection. Great coffee too!

Only one visit whilst visiting family, great wee artisan bakery. I bought a selection of cakes, not cheap but you can definitely tell the quality over supermarket, so well worth the additional cost. Please note there are times when the queue's are unbelievable but highlight the popularity of the bakery....Remember once the days stock has gone the bakery closes!!!

I was called out to a burst pipe tonight as I work for g jassal an all trades company, no way of turning the water off, so the gentleman kindly held towels how so I could get it fixed (now soaked LOL), so, he kindly asked me if I wanted a cake, and OG MY DAYS!!! the almond brownie was delicious!!! Will definitely be going back to try some more cakes! Outstanding

I highly recommend you try the Big Bear Bakery. The cakes and pastries are always amazing. I love the almond croissants, brownies, cookies and cake - everything really! I ordered my son's birthday cake (a Cranachan cake) from here a couple of weeks ago and I put a personalised cake topper on it, and everyone loved it. It was delicious!

One of the best bakeries in Glasgow. Everything is fresh and extremely tasty. I had my first ever empire biscuit (which was amazing) abd i tried the brookie, stuffed brownie cookie (take more than one and thank me later). There is usually a long queue so be patient waiting at the queue, its really worth it. Prices are normal and stuff is very friendly. Highly recommended!

We had a couple of pies from this bakery for lunch today and they were fantastic as was the date and walnut sourdough bread. Being well travelled and in our sixties we have experienced a fair number of 'Artisan' bakeries and this is certainly up there with the best. Look forward to getting more goodies next time in the area.
