Roastit Bubbly Jocks in Glasgow City

Excited to return to Roastits. I knew there had been a major makeover but never knew till today that there was new management and chef The menu of course had changed and no longer had the great choice. I am not a great breakfast person and usually go for lunch. This was no longer an option. I chose a pulled pork with ham on sourdough. It turned up with no pulled pork or ham but roast pork which turned my stomach. I was not told about this when I gave my order. I returned it to the kitchen. I reordered the haddock rarebit which was nice enough, but would not reorder it. I was looking forward to sweet but chose against it due to the lack of suitable choices. All in all it is very different from the old Roastit Bubbly Jocks. No longer my cup of tea. My partner enjoyed his breakfast, not so his sweet. His breakfast was a much smaller portion. The couple at the next table had the same opinion as us. The girl like me had difficulty in making a choice. So if you think you are going to the old restaurant... Stop and consider. The revamp was lovely. The decor and finishings

Always bring non-scots here it's just the best Glasgow food, not to mention the service. Update: After changing hands and renovation quite a bit has changed, firstly a new menu keeps the Scots dishes but really reduced options. You'll now be waiting quite a while for food but rest assured it's as good as ever! Second quite a bit of that Scottish atmosphere is now gone, if your interested in that sort of thing

Amazing food and service and ideally located near Partick station. Went as a group of 7 to the newly reopened Roastits. Everyone said both starters and main courses were excellent. Great menu and attentive service. They catered perfectly to one of our group’s lactose intolerance. Highly recommended

Visited as part of our granddaughters graduation celebrations - the food and service were par excellence - chowder soup was best ever and the haggis was A1 as was presentation of each dish - raspberry creme brulle superb.The place to visit in Glasgow ***** here's to the next time.

We went here as a group of 20 at fairly short notice for a pre wedding dinner on the celebration menu. It was brilliant. Food was very good, we had some really fussy eaters along who can be a bit difficult to please but even they were very happy. Excellent service, good, reasonably priced wine list. Nice children's menu. We didn't have to pre order which is very unusual for a big party but the food came out quickly. The celebration menu pricing looked too good to be true but it really was great value, £25 for two courses plus an arrival drink (pint of decent beer or a glass of wine), £30 with three courses. There were a few couples, small groups in who also appeared very happy. Would come back without hesitation.

Thoroughly enjoyed our family dinner here tonight for both the warm atmosphere / service and our delicious meals. So glad it was recommended to me. We’ll be back.

Have been in Scotland for 2 weeks - Roastit was the meal of the trip for me. I had the sea bream - it was DELICIOUS. Others had the Moroccan chicken and the haggis. We all loved our meals. and the Mango pavlova was to die for. Really good food. Long chat with Mo at the end of our meal rounded off a great night. 10 out of 10. Tracy Ian Linda & John

We were visiting Glasgow for a Kickboxing tournament so we had a large group. We booked last minute and were blown away at the quality of food, cozy atmosphere and the staff. FRANK was fantastic. Made a real fuss of the kids and ensured they had a great time. The food was amazing and there was something for everyone. Literally couldn’t fault this place. Thank YOU sooo much!

After a last minute booking during a weekend away in Glasgow, Frank booked 30 of us in and gave us the best service and food we could’ve asked for along with his amazing team! Cannot fault in any way, would highly recommend and will definitely be coming back next year 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿❤️

We were in Scotland for a sporting event so had a big team. From the moment I called to see if they could accommodate us, we received a level of service that I simply don’t think you get anymore. Personable. Engaging. People who take hospitality seriously. We arrived with a group of 30. With a few dietary requirements. Frank knew his menu well and was clear and helpful to meet everyone’s needs. The food was fantastic and Frank and the team ensured we all had a great time. We do a lot of trips away as a team. This was one of our best, in large part to Roastits doing all they could to make sure we had the best experience. Couldn’t recommend more highly. We will be back.

quality produce used for breakfast meal and rolls. salad bowl was good. smoked haddock soup was delicious but overpriced at almost £9! slow delivery but good was freshly cooked.

OMG, heard about restaurants on Dumbarton Road on Saturday Kitchen. Googled them and picked this one for trip north…..sooooo glad I did. Friendly efficient staff, lively atmosphere enriched by people enjoying themselves. Had the Sunday roast, best ever since my mum passed away years ago. Beautiful veg, and managed a pudding despite my doubts, raspberry crème brûlée with a never to be forgotten twist. Happy to pay the bill, reasonable without a doubt. Will I go back, yes I will. What a find, thank you to all the staff.

We were a party of eight and every one if us had one of the best meals ever in Glasgow (and we've been to lots of restaurants) Each course was beautifully cooked and so tasty. Great menu with something for everyone. No skimping on portion sizes either. The service from Frsnk was so good. He's definately a people person with real Glasgow humour and patience too. Everyone is keen to go back so we'll meet again

Went there for a meal and drink, the food was delicious and the staff was nice. I think it's good value for money, with a great quality of produce used throughout. I personally find it a bit too dark with the chosen ambient lighting, and music was slightly too loud for me but I'd recommend a visit.

Came for breakfast with the wife and my parents. First time. Great wee find this. The staff are really friendly and the food is top class. My mum had blueberry pancakes and the rest of us had Scottish cooked breakfasts. By far the best breakfast I’ve had in Scotland, never mind Glasgow. Been full all day. Back to London now for drab Full English. Shame. I’ll be back

From the time we walked in the door of this unassuming but warm restaurant, it felt like home. The servers were friendly and efficient, the food was fantastic! I had the roast beef dinner with veg and Yorkshire pudding...it was enough for two! My husband had the Smoked Haddock Chowder - it was perfect! Our first night in Scotland did not disappoint!

First time visit with family for a birthday lunch. The food was really good (although my haggis, neeps and tatties could have been a bit bigger) and the staff friendly, banterous and good fun. Nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be back.

Came here for brunch/lunch after seeing the positive reviews online. 100% lives up to it all! Food was wonderful, absolutely wonderful. Had the Glesga Full Fry Up and it was epic. Go hungry - you won't be disappointed.

Unassuming and brilliant restaurant. It's a great place to try some Scottish classic dishes like haggis, neeps and tatties or a creamy smoked haddock chowder. The salad with whipped Goat's cheese was delightful. Fabulous food and very friendly service!

Fantastic Sunday Roast at RBJs, great deal - 3 course for £30 including a pint on arrival. Our server was half waiter/half entertainer, girls had a great laugh with him. The other server heard us talk about the roasted marshmallow on the creme brulee that another diner had and brought a couple out on a skewer for the kids. AAA service. 4 of us had lunch and drinks for £90.

We had Sunday dinner here for easter and it was honestly the most enjoyable experience. From the minute we entered Frank and the team made us feel very welcome. The food and cocktails were exceptional. We had 2 children under 3 and they were so well catered for and engaged with. Would definitely return and highly recommend.

Yet again, a fabulous meal in this wee gem of a restaurant. As always, every course was fantastic. The drinks and cocktails are the best. Service always excellent too.

Came here on short notice with some friends. The food was great, presently supprised, the desert was unbelievably good. Staff are very welcoming and friendly, Frank and the young server did a great job. Prices are all reasonable and fair. The atmosphere is nice also, will be back. 5/5

Smashing wee mothers day meal, food was brilliant and service very good, this place is a winner.

The staff and the actual restaurant are nice; the staff are friendly & the decor is ok. The food, I found, was average at best. The chips and the onion rings tasted as if they had been fried in dirty oil. The ribs were tough. Greasy, and definitely not what I expected from the restaurant.

I live nearby so not a problem to get to. I should have tried this place long before now. Ordered the sirloin for me & friend. Food was fab, no complaints. Decent fast service. Atmosphere great, very busy, tables didn’t sit empty for long. I’ll definitely be back to this great wee restaurant.

My daughter wrote a review about one of the staff walking me round to my car with a 'collect food' order. Actually staff member went and brought his car to the front of the shop and drove me to my car. Given the howling rain yesterday, I thought it was kindness itself !!! He said his mother would have murdered him if he left me to walk in the pouring rain with the order. The food was fabulous as usual and we'll be back. Thank you so much.

Its been a long time since we have been as its not exactly local to us. Now I remember how good it is, it wont be so long until we are back. We had the short rib of beef which was delicious but I was envious of the Sunday roast as its so nice. We also had roasted apple pavlova with maple syrup and ice cream and it was to die for. The creme brulee was so lovely too. Its a small place with a friendly vibe but the food is always 1st class. Def worth a try.

Very tasty food at reasonable prices. We had the 2 course Christmas menu. Chowder was creamy and full of flavour. Chicken with haggis rich, tasty and filling. Service was excellent and friendly, even though we arrived 30mins after our table time. Definitely recommended.

Nothing was a problem. The food was really tasty, delicious, and catered for everyone food preferences and intolerances. Everyone's plates were cleared, which is unusual in a group of 12. Super food, super night, super staff.

Staff go above and beyond to ensure customers are happy. Special thanks to Frank & Sean, who were absolute STARS from start to finish helping us celebrate a 70th birthday meal this weekend. Last minute Saturday afternoon brunch with a friend. Cozy wee table at the back. Food was spot on, good strong pot of tea and good staff. We both got an education about the war in Gaza by an English gentleman talking to the group next to us. Great place for a cheeky wee brunch!

Was enjoying the atmosphere, but the owner was very vocal about matters i was not intrested in and in no way was he going to stop,he was not really concerned about how his rantings was affecting my friend and i uptill then a really enjoyable experience. Will be back but will make sure the owner is not there first.

Great place. I went here as a large group for my cousins 40th. The food was amazing, cooked to a very high standard . The staff where so friendly and helped entertain all the kids. I would definitely go back.

food at this establishment is first class 2 of us opted for traditional fish and chips which came beautifully presented and the other person had Morrocan chicken again beautifully presented For desert i ordered the pavlova which was very generous in size ( so big 3 of us shared as I knew I wouldn't have been able to finish it on my own) Highly recommend this west end gem

Place was great!! The waiters we extremely friendly and just overall a hidden gem of a place in Glasgow! One of my more favorite little spots I've been to in any of the countries I've reviewed! I will say I wish they would have been a little quicker when needing things but over all definitely rate then a 4.8..

Best veggie breakfast you'll ever have, the homemade tottie scones are amazing! Frank is the best host with the most! 10/10 food, service and everything!!

My wife and I dined here yesterday pm and what a good choice it was. There’s free parking (under 2 hours) up the road at the retail park which is only 2 mins away. Thankfully we arrived earlier so we managed to get a table or else it might have been tricky because it was busy as the evening progressed. We were immediately welcomed by, who I guess was the manager, as we entered. He was gave off a relaxed and casual vibe which matched the atmosphere. The other waiter was fine but didn’t have the same level of friendliness and good chat as the boss. The waiter appeared quite knowledgeable about the menu which is nice to see. We thought they could have been a little more attentive, maybe asking if we wanted another drink. I’ve never been to a restaurant with so many hanging lights, yet the room still being quite dark. I didn’t mind the darkness but perhaps someone with poor eyesight might struggle to read the menu. We did feel comfortable in the restaurant and there was plenty of interesting artwork, pictures and mirrors to look at on the walls. The menu was an ideal size for me. Not too big but still a variety. To me, this suggests they focus on quality over quantity. We got bread and salted butter for our pre starters which was lovely. The bread was fresh and the butter was very tasty. For our starters my wife got the salt and pepper baby squid and I got the paprika pork belly. Both of these dishes were the highlight of our evening and were presented excellently. The squid was very crispy and the sauce it came with complimented the fish very nicely. The pork belly also had an incredible sauce and the black pudding was an amazing addition. I really liked that mango salsa. These starters are up there in the best we’ve ever had. For mains my wife got the haddock fish supper and I got the sirloin steak with peppercorn sauce. We both enjoyed our mains but it wasn’t near the same level as the starters. Presentation was awesome but the batter of the haddock wasn’t that crispy and maybe a little oily. It didn’t taste bad at all and my wife quite enjoyed it so maybe I am just being picky. My steak was cooked medium rare as requested and it looked great. The taste was good but I’ve certainly had tastier steaks. Definitely not worth £24.94. The garlic mushrooms were yum yum and the peppercorn sauce definitely enhanced the meal. Both our chips were nice and thick. Presumably hand cut. I liked them a lot and my wife did too but she’d prefer them a little more cooked. We got mayo for the table which was very nice. It had a slight zesty edge to it. Unfortunately, my wife ate (thankfully not swallowed) a bit of white plastic which was disappointing. We weren’t sure where it came from but thankfully she didn’t swallow it. In hindsight we should have mentioned it to someone but we decided not to but she left it on the plate. The desserts on the menu looked awesome. In the end my wife went for the chocolate cake with pistachio ice cream and crumb. I went with the raspberry crème brûlée. The crème brûlée was on fire as it self-caramelised which I have never seen before and was a nice added touch. I got to cook a marshmallow whilst it caramelised. Both desserts were delicious. Overall, we enjoyed our time at Roastit Bubbly Jocks and we are glad we chose this place. For me it doesn’t quite warrant a 5 star especially with a bit of plastic found in a dish and we did find that £76 was very pricey. Especially considering we only got a juice and a water for drinks. The breakfasts looked good so perhaps we will return but the chances are slim as we are not in Glasgow very often.
