Noodle-Box in Cardiff

I'm a strict vegetarian of 20+ years. I ordered the Veggie Sweet Box and upon eating the noodles discovered what I thought was tofu was in fact chicken. I'm absolutely livid! Usually a good place but they've failed on the basics!

Used to love Noodlebox in the early 2010s but it has gone downhill so fast since the glory days. The food is still of a 'decent' quality but the restaurant has all of the charm of a cold dead pet rabbit. The restaurant is now mostly used as box storage, the welcome is unwelcoming and if you like eating your meal with a hoover in plain sight, you may have found your next favourite restaurant.

Chicken came out raw.bad attitude from own when asked to reheat. Chewing gum under tables and strong smell of grease and grime.pls avoid this terrible Place. unprofessional UNCLEAN

Have been ordering from Noodlebox for many years now - great food, good sized portions for the price, delivery can sometimes be a little slow

They sent me the wrong order and when I tried calling them they cut me off half way through conversation! DO NOT ORDER

I had a previous bad encounter with noodle box back last year when I was called a liar by the management. I ordered calamari and was sent some sort of round things. I rang up to obviously inform them of their mistake and the manager actually turned round and said you’re a liar we can tell the difference between calamari and the item I had been sent. I had to send a photo to the managers phone to show them what they sent and I was told oh well we can’t all be perfect as you obviously are. Tonight after begging from the children to order I gave in. The food was piping hot and in all fairness very tasty. However there was a portion of calamari missing. I rang the store straight away to inform them of their mistake and was told no you got what you ordered. I brought up my order on their app and once again was told I hadn’t ordered it. The manager then told me I couldn’t add up as I hadn’t been charged. Once I broke down my receipt to him and went through each addition separately he finally admitted defeat. I was then told at 18:22 the missing item would be with me within half an hour to an hour. I rang back at 19:31 to enquire where my food was and was told someone would call me back. 19:48 still no call so I rang back 4 times before my call was finally answered to be spoken to by the same gentleman I had initially spoken to and was told that it would be with me within 15 minutes. He telephoned me at 20:04 to be told he was just leaving the shop and he’d ring me when he was in my road and I could go out and collect it from him as he obviously can’t be bothered to bring it to my door. The food is great I’m not going to lie but the customer service is beyond appalling from the counter staff to the management. It’s now 20:17 and it’s only just turned up and was told we’ve given you a complimentary can...really?? I personally will NEVER order off this restaurant and I really suggest people follow suit. I can honestly say I’ve never been treated as poorly by any other restaurant or takeaway and I really suggest the management look at their own attitude and management skills and then look at the whole staff as a complete unit. Bad management is toxic and it shows in the way your staff treat your customers. Absolutely hands the worst customer service in the whole of Cardiff.

Ordered a delivery which was punctual. Excellent food. Beautiful presentation. Reasonably priced. Happy to recommend.

We order for delivery, rather than visiting the restaurant. We don’t order regularly from here, but on two occasions we received a meat dish instead of the vegetarian version. One was something in the vegetarian bento box (possibly the gyoza), the other was chicken gyoza instead of the vegetarian. We made a complaint on their website and by email and received no reply, which is why I’m now leaving this poor review. Otherwise the food was ok.

Superb service; friendly and great food! We had the chicken bento box and a noodle box each. The delivery was very reasonable; arrived hot and was very tasty. I’d highly recommend - exceptionally good value!

So my housemate and I ordered takeaway from this place the other day, and we both bought a box (him noodles and me rice), and we shared a veggie sharing box with the starters. I bought the Fuji rice box and was very disappointed to find it had no snow peas in like it says on the menu. I understand that it may be difficult right now because of Covid to get hold of certain ingredients, but if you don't have something then take that item off the menu to avoid disappointment. But the other main complaint, which was the same for both myself and my friend, was that both boxes had very little "stuff" in them except noodles/rice. When I used to get food from Noodlebox back when it was under different ownership, it always used to have lots of veg and meat in, but now there was really hardly any! There were good points though, the food came piping hot, the sauce was very tasty, and no complaints about the veggie starter sharing box. They just need to make sure they're got the right ingredients, and that they put a lot more in!

Ordered a delivery twice this week- that’s how tasty this place is! Reasonable prices. Good tofu and veg. First delivery was on time (yay!), second delivery was an hour late (noooo!). They do beer! They deliver hot food! Good gluten free options! Just wish they had desserts!

I placed an order at 6pm this evening, we requested one of the noodle boxes to have rice noodles as my friend is a celiac. When this arrived (over 30 minutes late!!) they were ramen noodles and so she couldn’t eat it, after ringing the restaurant to explain the mix up we were given an apology and told they would send the correct order out straight away, 50 minutes later and the order hadn’t arrived needless to say the rest of us had already eaten our food by this point, we rang the restaurant again and were spoken to in an appalling manner by a female member of staff who raised her voice to say she had sent the driver and then hung up. The driver arrived- finally, who to be fair was apologetic and requested a photo of the wrong order before leaving. I understand mistakes happen but the way this was handled by the female staff member was not acceptable.

Wish I could select less than one start because it doesn’t even deserve that. Ordered food last night, ordered spicy Katsu curry and a ramen box. Katsu curry was 4 bits of overly spiced chicken, plain rice, and curry sauce in a tub. Curry was so spicy I couldn’t even eat it, ramen box had all veg and hardly any noodles and the sauce was salty dishwater. We called up they were very rude saying someone would come to our house and inspect our food? They Weren’t apologetic or gave us an alternative food they were so rude basically calling us liars. Would never order from there again, waste of £20 would not recommend

First time ordering and last. The food was ok, but it took them literally an hour and a half to deliver. 3 calls, kept promising me it was on its way. "I'll contact the driver and call you back" but never happened. On my last call the driver arrived when I was talking to the girl and she said "well, at least you received it!" You've got some nerve, girl. I'm not the type to complain but this was taking the piss. Not worth to spoil your night. We also got offered discount for the next delivery, but hell no, I'm not repeating the experience. A waste of £18

The food was delayed by a long time, about 50 minutes. I don't mind the initial delay from 19.25 to 19.45 as I was told, but the food only arrived at 20.15 without me being told anything about any further delay which I don't think is acceptable.

It’s the first time we ordered from Noodle Box, very positive! Great food, better than other similar places, great quality, flavours and the portions are massive. Amazing value for the price and food seems fresh and cooked carefully. It also arrived pipping hot! Will definitely order again!

The food is lovely, however they have changed their big prawns to small shrimp. They’re also massively late on weekends which is very disappointing. Occasionally the restaurant will not read your requests; I asked to replace water chestnuts with broccoli and the request wasn’t met. Food is always piping hot!

Very salty, not much meat, soggy veg. Delivery pushed back then 30 minutes late from revised time. Rude delivery driver. Won't be back.

hi i just wanted to say that there was no katsu sauce in the rice box it was just dry rice with chicken and the soups had hardly any seafood in so we were a bit disappointed and wanted a refund for the rice please

I would like my money back for the noodle boxes as they were so salty none of us could eat them. I have called the restaurant who say they want to give us another box but not three. It's disappointing as we usually love Noodle Box but this time something was wrong despite us always ordering the same box (our favourites). The rest was lovely but if we could get the three boxes refunded please :)

Took ages to arrive, however the food was outstanding. Our hunger was well satified!

The wrong noodles were sent in my box, this is the third time this has happened now, otherwise amazing food.

30 minutes late and still not arrived...?

Delivery was 50 minutes late and food was cold when arrived. Chicken satay skewers had gone dry and hard. The box i ordered was supposed to be prawns and calamari and i had paid for double meat and all i received was a couple prawns, definitely not double meat and no calamari what so ever. Total waste of money!

Bank holiday Monday I went when returning home from Barry island . So decided to give this place a try . Food was good but food description wasn’t very good felt cheated . Why would you have KING PRAWNS ( KING PRAWNS )on menu you when you sell baby shrimps . It’s got to be either the owner is pulling a swift one ? Or simply his plain stupid . Well we will see what trading standards has to say about this ; )

Ordered veg Katsu - chewy, stale deep fried vegetables with boiled rice and a bland sauce - never again. Flat Veg rolls like frozen ones from Iceland with no filling at all. My boyfriend ordered the duck noodles and enjoyed.

I selected low carb by accident and I was going to buy another one after it was delivered and your kind staff sent me the right one strait away. Thank you

We had gyoza, chicken and prawn rice box, chicken skewers and tempura veg. Was really nice. Would definitely order again!

Delivery said was an hour but waited 1hr 45 mins kept ringing the restaurant and they kept saying delivery guy is 5 mins away each time which wasn’t the case! Love noodle box the food is amazing but last time I order as this isn’t first time our order has been late which is shame! We will be ordering else where in future!

The food was great, but waited over 30minutes from the “estimated delivery time”. I rang the restaurant, they blamed the driver. However, the driver said there was a delay at the restaurant, which I wasn’t informed when I rang them. Overall quite disappointed with the service.

We had rice and noodle boxes and there was next to none meat content. The food was incredibly bland and greasy and the beef in the noodles was dry and chewy. If we had been sat down we would have sent it back. We had some sides as well and they were limp soggy and tasteless and the amount of dip you have with them was so small. The noodles were just grease and the rice was just tasteless mush. This is the first time I've ever officially complained about food but this has just shocked me.

Incredible food and a lovely owner

Large Spicy chicken rice box was dull, no veg and way too much boiled rice, some crispy chicken ontop with chilli powder sprinkled all over it is fairly unacceptable for the price, the veggie box was tasteless. What's happened?!

Extremely quick delivery and the food was piping hot and the panko breadcrumbs were stick crunchy. I can honestly say this was the tastiest take out I have had in years. I doubt i would ever go back to regular chinese meals as this all feels so fresh and not heavy.

Really gone downhill which is such a shame. Two tiny chicken nuggets in the Bento box rather than chicken pieces in panko breadcrumbs. Thin, watery katsu curry sauce. Delivery was fast but quality awful compared to last year.

The driver didn't have enough change and so I overpaid by £2. He said I could have that as credit for next time.

Always order from here but this time it was so disappointing...rice box was full of fatty duck and tasteless. Calamari not cooked properly, didnt even eat it. Gyoza, spring rolls and chicken skewers were all soggy due to the late delivery. We wont be ordering from here again sorry, such a shame.

I had never ordered before from Noodlebox. The food was incredible, I can't believe we waited for so long for our first time. The beef noodles were delicious, everything was hot, and really tasty. This will be our new favourite takeaway!

honestly the best take away in Cardiff. So much delicious choice for both meat and meat free. I’ve never had a single thing from here that wasn’t tasty. I would really recommend. Get a bento box and thank me later

We had a Teriyaki Rice Box and Singapore Box with extra meat. Both really yummy, the rice noodles in the Singapore box were more like wide Thai noodles, which was unexpected but really good. Teriyaki was nice, could have done with a thicker sauce maybe and some more soy, but still enjoyable.

I had an estimated delivery time on an hour but it only took just over twenty minutes! I've always enjoyed noodlebox and will continue to order from them as the food is such good quality and always really tasty

Second time we’ve ordered a takeaway from noodlebox and although impressed the first time, the food I’ve just eaten was another level of tastiness! Freshly cooked, authentic and good quality! I’m so glad to have finally found a takeaway which is worth the money because...

Very disappointing experience. We have eaten and had delivery from Noodle Box in the past and not had any problems, but this was a different story. Our delivery was very late, at least 30 minutes, and then when our food did arrive it was incorrect and some items were missing. The restaurant were helpful in correcting this mistake and re-sending items, but this took an extra hour, meaning that despite ordering at 19:15, my partner wasn't able to eat until 22:00. I won't be ordering from here again.

The Sing Box and Quack Box were amazing (maybe a little bit to much oister sauce in the Quack box, but besides that, amazing), delivery was quicker than expected. We ordered the regular sizes which was more than enough.

Loved my noodle box. A great healthy option for a take away. The rice balls weren't that exciting but the Kara Loman is very enjoyable. When it was delivered it was steaming hot which is rare. Can't wait to try another dish next time.
