Good food at a reasonable price

Been using this takeaway for over 25 years and unfortunately won’t again. Last two occasions been told an hour and over 2. Last nights just never showed up🤦‍♀️ Rang takeaway 3 times told it was on its way. It never was

Absolutely awful service. Food is lovely yet tonight it took over 2 hours when we were told 1 hour and 3 times it was on the way and the same previously. Such a shame as we have ordered food here for a while time yet never again. If you want food within the and you are hungry I suggest you collect.

The Golden Lotus is popular in our house for a takeaway. I had beancurd with cashews and there were lots of cashews with it. The noodles from here are really nice too. There wasn’t a long wait for our food. I’d recommend to others.

This has to be the best Chinese take away in wales the food is outstanding. They go over and beyond. I have been using them for years now and will continue to do so. 👍🏽

Picked up takeaway which was ready when I arrived. Food was excellent as usual.

I asked fo prawns in my special fried rice cos they keep skipping them, also ordered curry sauce chips and fried beansprouts. Not one prawn, cold chips, cold curry, overcooked rice, but the beansprouts were nice. Hour and 20 minutes to deliver. Not on. Never again worsed £17 iv ever spent.

This was one of the worst meals we have had. The order was not correct, not surprised as only one person serving and taking both phone and counter orders at the same time. As for the food itself there is more meat in a pot noodle than on the mix starter ribs, crispy duck should be crispy and dry ,everything lacked flavour, meat like rubber.

Always consistent quality and generous portions, really friendly and caring, I was ordering on a tough day once and must have sounded upset on the phone, they actually took the time to ask me if I was ok while I was ordering, very kind. They do the best lemon chicken too!

I ordered the following. Chicken in spicy chilli Sauce Beef in spicy chilli sauce Egg fried rice Prawn crackers What I got was beef in sweet and sour sauce and chicken in the same sweet and sour sauce. A point to note is that I HATE sweet and sour sauce!!! So if you want chicken in black bean sauce you might get chicken in sweet and sour sauce. No complaints about the egg fried rice and the prawn crackers as they were yummy.

Thoroughly recommend the hot and sour soup! Staff are lovely and the food is great.

Would leave 0 stars if I could. Terrible service and disgusting food. They gave us the wrong order for starters! We rang them and explained and they kept hanging up the phone. No customer service ! Then eventually said they would deliver the correct order.. that never arrived. Then said we would receive a refund.. which did not even take bank details etc for!! Avoid this restaurant! Still awaiting refund. - sweet and sour chicken was like chicken nuggets drenched in sauce .£32 waste of money

Got a £5 takeaway for a £20 fee. He was having a row with wife. Tried to call, tried to ask nothing. Check your recept twice guys. I use em all the time but F.. me!

Used to really enjoy this Chinese and returned for the first time in a year or so. Our food was bland and our ‘chicken satay’ came in more of a gravy and the chicken was really synthetic. Queried with restaurant and was advised this is how they serve they satay chicken. Disappointing and wouldn’t return.

Tasty food, friendly staff, set meal for 2 was enough food for both of us and breakfast the next day. Only letdown was the burnt chicken fried rice, otherwise very nice

Disgusting..chips rock hard..curry sauce like water..chicken ball rock hard..noodles well.!! Please save your money...worst Chinese I have ever had..when I rang up to complain..nobody could speak English...!!!

This is a great, Chinese take away. We have always had lovely food and great service. We don't go anywhere else.

Tried here tonight as our local was closed and had heard good things about here. The first 2 dishes we tried were really good and then we opened our favourite dish (chicken satay skewers) and they were horrid..... Chicken was dry which is odd as it sits in a sauce, the pineapple was hard and tasteless and it all just tasted synthetic. Wouldn't not necessarily use here again but wouldn't rave about it.

Has the takeaway changed hands , the standard of nice food has slipped . Had fried rice which was ok but tasteless. The crispy beef again lacked taste . This is the 2nd time food has been dreadful

We should have been warned: it was a cold night and no heating was on. The girl behind the counter was wearing layers of thick clothing and a heavy coat and still hugging herself to keep warm. In retrospect, a sign that they are paring costs right back, and that applied to the ingredients. The chicken and pineapple included possibly the toughest, most rubbery, fibrous chicken I've ever been served. It couldn't be cut with an ordinary dinner knife and we had bits of it lodged between our teeth even after a good go with a tooth pick. The Cantonese sweet and sour pork was slightly better, but very little detectable pork in the battered pieces. Fried rice was ok-ish. Quantities ok, though for me there were too many pieces of onion. Not an experience to repeat.

I rang for a delivery takeaway. Was asked for my order and the man had put the phone down. I could hear laughing in the background. I hung on for a few minutes but could not get a reply. They had obviously just placed the phone down with no intention of taking my order. I will never order food here again!!!

Terrible soggy tasteless grey chow mein. Won't use again.

Nice location. A few issues with accommodation but not enough to spoil as we were only using it to sleep. Facilities could do with some investments. Staff friendly and helpful

Very fresh and wonderfully balanced Chinese food, which is much less greasy than I usually associate with takeaway. Don't be fooled by the modest and a little dated shop (sorry), they've focused all on what they serve. I'm a regular who drives past several others on the way.

Fantastic food. We asked for no MSG and it made such a difference to the food. It was light, fresh and not gloopy at all.

We normally order a takeaway from this Chinese about every 2 months. We ordered a chow mein dish and a chicken curry. I don’t know whether someone else has bought this takeaway or changed management but the food was bland, poor quality and no bean sprouts or onions in the chow mein no vegetables and only 4 pieces of meat. It was dry and overcoome& with little or even no seasoning what so ever. It did not taste fresh either The chicken curry was equally disappointing as the mushrooms in the dish were raw and not cooked. All in all a terrible experience. To the point better tasting food from a supermarket. Such a shame we live on the other side of Cardiff to visit this place. Sorry to say it will be my last. I think I’m being generous by giving it 1 star!!!

You Yum Yum You and yum again- when I have had a bad day , I great myself to a take out from here, and although I am annoyed the next day about the cals, I feel good that I can get home close the door and joy yummy nosh- how they cook the order I will never know - super fast - best collect it though

Food was disappointing, tasteless. Delivery was over an hour and missing an item although they did replace it. But this took another 30 mins so food that was already here went cold waiting for this main dish. This was our first try at this take away and we won't be rushing back.

I didn't get past serving it up before throwing it all away. We ordered a set meal this evening and only one container had any heat, everything else was cold. I can't do anything about it either, because the shop has closed for the night, so annoying 😡

Weather very warm so we decided to have a takeaway... Ordered over the phone and paid and to be fair food came before the time they said. The food was hot - great sized portions and very tasty. Would recommend as really good food.

We've had a few Chinese takeaway meals from here now and can safely say that the food is very good. Prices are as expected for a Chinese and reasonable size portions. Will certainly continue to use.

Food is always lovely, food always delivered hot. Not once in all the years of us ordering from the golden Lotus have we ever had a problem. Our food is always delivered within the time slot given. Staff always very helpful and friendly Would highly recommend! there chicken balls are amazing along with all there other dishes

Hard to review a take-away that does what it does! It is a Cantonese take-away. Service has always been swift and efficient for such a small place. Food is tasty. Standard Cantonese food.

I can't believe there isn't a single review, I've been ordering from the golden lotus for take aways for now just over 2 years with at least 1 order a month sometimes up to 3, never let down always a high standard of food as reasonable prices I would highly recommend the golden lotus.
