Noble Rot - Soho in City of London, Westminster

I really enjoyed the venue and the food was good, although the portions on the prix fixe menu were very meagre. We'll come back and try a la carte.

Delivers on every front. Stylish, warm yet understated service and aesthetic. Absolutely delicious, nuanced, sophisticated dishes. Would go again and again if I still lived in London.

What an amazing experience it was eating here! It has its price tag, but it’s surely worth it for a special occasion!

Superb wine list and delicious food

a pre theatre dinner that hit the spot! we ordered a variety of starters and all were delicious and amazingly presented, for main would definitely recommend the chicken (for 2-3 people - but would say it’s too much for 2 people…), you can ask for as much rice as needed for the chicken which is a useful addition, the dish itself was wonderful, i would say the sauce was a bit rich for my taste, but nothing to complain about and would still get it again! the building itself is like a tardis, much bigger on the inside with various of floors (i would recommend about asking to be seated upstairs when booking as the bottom level is right next to the door) but the building is beautiful

Came here for a late lunch birthday meal in mid-October, and the restaurant was super lively on a Monday which is a testament to the draw this place has - and it’s entirely justified. The food was INSANELY good and this was our favourite meal in London for 2024. We still think about the chicken liver parfait choux buns (a masterpiece) alongside all the other delightful bits of the menu we tried with solid wine pairings. Standout. No notes, flawlessly done, and a special shout out to Max and Guy who made our meal extra special with their knowledge, attention and care. Loved it and can’t wait to come back!

Nos topamos con este restaurante por casualidad, se veía cálido y yo votando desde fuera. Mi esposa y yo tuvimos una comida increíble de aperitivos a través del desierto y la carta de vinos por copa era genial! Sin duda volveremos la próxima vez que estemos en Londres.

Mi cuarta visita. Fui con dos amigos, uno de ellos aficionado al vino. La ubicación tiene un ambiente maravilloso y acogedor en un día de diciembre lúgubre. Tuvimos una selección de entrantes, y luego seguí con bacalao escalfado con camarones marrones. Me intrigó cómo podían hacer el bacalao tan interesante. Bueno, lo lograron; estaba delicioso. Seguimos con una selección de queso. Todo fue maridado maravillosamente con vino por mi amigo, con los consejos del personal muy atento. Un almuerzo fabuloso que debo hacer de nuevo algún tiempo.

Truly delicious thoughtful food

Visited after years of wanting to visit. Even with this baggage of expectations Noble Rot delivered and exceeded my hopes. Great food, excellent wines and absolutely superb service. One of my best ever restaurant experiences.

Good food but very noisy inside, also one of the waiter was a little arrogant, he didn't want to open an extra bottle of wine later on for us which was weird.

This was an amazing find! We were a big group and they were extremely helpful and flexible with our changing reservation needs. Once there, the atmosphere was really nice like a hidden gem, dimly lit lights and dark wooden interiors. It’s a small cosy place. The service was very good. We had the signature chicken which was amazing. As well as the chocolate mousse as desert. Would highly recommend this place and thank them dearly for their accommodation.

The food, the wine selection, the service, as always, all over the top. Shame last order is at 9:30, but I guess that’s how keep the charm alive.

I have been here before, but I never reviewed this place. And that is a shame, because it really is a very special restaurant, with a wine list that is magnificent and extensive, with dishes that are a match with the exquisite wines on the stellar wine list. The star of the show is, undoubtedly, the chicken with vin jaune and morels, served with white rice, a memorable dish that has the most addictive sauce you can ever imagine. In anticipation of that, I ordered extra bread, necessary to poach and soak the sauce that accompanied the chicken . As starters, we had the choux bun with chicken liver pate, and the filetto lardato, followed by saucisson and bread and butter. We had an incredibly good white wine that was the perfect match with what we ordered. We finished the meal with the chocolate mousse with prunes soaked in liqueur, the perfect ending to a fantastic meal. The service is attentive and warm, the atmosphere is nice, there is nothing I can think of that needs improving. Must go and must book in advance . I really recommend it

What an incredible quaint place this is. Food was really tasty, totally unpretentious whilst also showing a good level of finesse from the chef. The guy serving us was really nice and helpful, able to inform us of options on the menu. They also brought out a free sweet for my girlfriends birthday! Highly recommend, if you can, ask to be seated in the upstairs dinning room for a more exclusive feel to your night! Allow plenty of time after as well as I could sit in there for hours

Service from Calum was spectacular. First time visiting this outpost of NR, won’t be my last. Delicious food, prioritising flavour over all else. As expected, memorable wines BTG.

Probably one of the best meals I’ve had in a while. The must-have is the vin jaune chicken and I would highly recommend complimenting it with a glass of vin jaune itself. It’s an oxidized wine that tastes savoury- almost like a dirty martini in wine form. The bread and butter seems simple but the selection of breads was top-notch! Also had the choux bun, chicken liver parfait (delicious!), Guinea fowl (incredible savoury bite!), smoked eel devil egg, and the glazed ox cheek (fall-apart tender!). Service was a bit on the slower side once the restaurant got busy but it was otherwise an excellent time when you have good company around you. Atmosphere was very intimate, dark, and cozy.

Algunos platos que pedimos no tenían sabor - el tártaro de atún y las vieiras (ligeramente gomosas también) , de ahí las 4 estrellas en lugar de 5. El servicio fue muy amable y acogedor, sin embargo, después de ser mostrado a nuestra mesa, esperamos al menos 25 minutos antes de que nos pidieran nuestra primera orden de bebidas. ¡No nos habría importado esperar si nos hubieran ofrecido bebidas, incluso agua, tan pronto como nos sentamos, ya que nos sentimos olvidados al principio! También nos gusta maridar nuestros platos con diferentes vinos y las largas esperas nos hicieron contenernos en hacer esto.

Beautiful place, classic. Meal time suits him perfectly. The service is attentive, of course. By recommending they make the choice easier. The food is very good. The only thing, I consider that it is already very out of date that they serve you wine in a separate room. For the same ritual of what the wine is, the honesty of displaying it, opening it and serving it. I think it loses the important essence of the virtuousness of the ritual at the table. The current wine trend is towards the frank, the honest, the simple. The wine service would have to go accordingly. Telling a fantastic story about a passionate producer, showing the label, and then returning with a wine in a decanter, strong story incongruity!

Walking in off the cold bright streets of soho on an autumn afternoon we were instantly engulfed by the warm embrace of a room full of people laughing, consuming and having a great time. When the dining room is full, and every table looks imbibed and convivial you instantly feel safe that you are about to set out on a similar path. And that is exactly what happened. The ‘3 terroirs’ champagne to kick off was a deliciously balanced and zippy starter. We opted for the 2 course set lunch on Wednesday - pork neck and creamed spinach followed by chocolate fondant and ice cream. Everything was cooked just perfectly with a deeply umami pork jus and perfectly rendered fat which went perfectly with the suggested wine pairing. The chocolate fondant was everything we hoped for - warm, comforting, perfectly liquid in the middle and just the right ratio of sweetness to bitterness. The knowledgeable, kind and always on hand staff made the whole experience seamless. Putting so much effort in to lunch service really shines through and we can’t wait to go back!

Amazing restaurant in the heart of Soho. Menù is France-meets-London with some interesting experiments - with some working out better than others- and an attention to detail and combining flavours. Staff is kind and caring, would love to come back. Definitely recommend. BOOK IN ADVANCE!!!

Great place. Love the set up. Food was excellent in places. The gurnard was beautiful. Chicken with morels was great but I felt £80 was a tad steep. Wine list is incredible. Service was brilliant.

Not our first visit and won’t be our last. We were looked after by Theo and team, Theo’s knowledge of the wines and the pairings he came up with was excellent as well as his recommendations for the food. It has a really great wine selection and decent food. The place can get loud and the tables are far too close together for my taste. After the crowd has had a cpl of drinks, it becomes a challenge to hear yourself think, let alone to have a conversation. Nonetheless, I would visit again if for nothing else, then the wine list.

Sensational wine selection. Good knowledgeable service and great food. The morel chicken is just out of this world! Book in advance as this place is always crowded.

A menu to make you give up on the diet, service to make you give up on humanity. Each dish was almost rebellious, much like the image that the restaurant presents of itself. But if you get served the wrong drinks, don't get some things that you ordered, and aren't helped to understand the menu, make sure that you rebel, too.

Great wine and fabulous service

Perfect from start to finish. The stars of the show were the cockles, the veal, the Trempier Bandol and the Gonet BdB.

The signature main dish is good, service is great. Starters are below average. The candle on the table is so shiny, making us very uncomfortable.

Exceptional from start to finish. Particular stand out was the octopus and tomato salad and the cheese tart. Wine selection was incredible and service could not have been better. Have already recommended to a few friends and no suprise it has three versions of it. Special thank you to the staff for being so accomodating of our baby in pram. Its a small place so your hospitality was greatly appreciated. Going out with small ones is a rare treat so thanks again.

Good atmosphere. The wine selection is huge as expected. The menu is offering much less options (obviously!). It lacks perhaps a bit of creativity and/or surprise. That said the food we ordered was good (the chicken liver choux is delicious) and the service was pleasant.

Absolutely loved the food and the service here. We were recommended an orange wine based on what we told them we liked and it was spot on! The desserts were a bit too simple compared to the rest of the menu.Other than that, brilliant. The octopus we had isn’t in the photos but def the highlight of our order.

We made a highly anticipated visit to the Soho restaurant today and we’re all sadly underwhelmed by the food, it was supremely poor! The restaurant’s only redeeming factor was the service, the staff were all very nice and gave good service. Loved the book, but sadly ate some of the most mediocre food ever! If you enjoy eating out then give this a miss!

Had a wonderful birthday lunch at Noble Rot. The atmosphere was perfect for a lunchtime meal, service was friendly and attentive and the food was excellent. Everything we had (most things between 5 of us…) was delicious and classically cooked. We’ll be back.

Excellent dishes and awesome service. The staff are polite, well educated on dishes and food. The chap who looked after us tonight on the 2nd floor was exceptional. The food didn't disappoint - chicken parfait choux bun, Oeufs en Meurette (what a dish), Pork and Apricot Terrine, Lamb Rump (perfectly seasoned buttery steak), confit duck, washed down with a reasonably priced Birgundy and chocolate mousse with Madeira to finish. Loved it.

Had dinner at Noble Rot tonight after it being on my list for quite some time. Overall it was a very good experience, though I expected slightly more for the price point. I had a chicken liver choux bun, which was delicious (the choux was perfect contrary to other reviews I’ve seen). I then had the pork and apricot terrine, which I really enjoyed BUT thought one piece of toast was stingy and some mustard or such would have been epic. I then had the tomato butter slip sole, which I could have done without. It wasn’t filleted and easily could have been, saving me work and bones in my mouth. It also needed something as accoutrement to complete the dish. I finished with the ricotta cake with roasted apricots, which I enjoyed thoroughly. Perhaps my biggest complaint was there wasn’t a single portion available of the chicken, which is one of the main reasons I wanted to come. As someone who regularly dines alone and cooks chicken solo for himself, I firmly believe this to be possible and wish it would be considered. The staff was very kind and recommended a lovely Portuguese wine to accompany my food. I would consider coming back but not solo.

Lovely 3 course lunch. Roast beef and apple cake. Do not miss their choux pastry with chicken liver. Knowledgeable waiter, pointed us to the right wine in our price range. Everybody upstairs enjoying their meal in a room decorated with local scenes populated with famous British politicians

I had lunch here today with a friend. The prices are high... but it is central London. I ordered the only vegetarian dish on their menu - gnocchi. This dish was priced at £28. I received 10 pieces of gnocchi for this price. My friend ordered a fish dish and received a reasonable amount of food. I felt 10 gnocchi for £28 was an outrage and pointed this out to the wait staff. They did come back with a larger portion for me and did rectify the situation, but this should never have happened to start with. If you charge £28 for a main you should serve a main sized portion, not the kids size I first received. The food was good, and the staff were friendly, but I will not be returning.

I had high expectations but sadly no cigar. On entering was hit with a wall of heat ground floor level,no ventilation. Thankfully taken to 1st floor with air con. That was the highlight and all downhill thereafter. We ordered food and drinks fairly quickly. The drink arrives swiftly. All good. We then have to wait over an hour for the starter. Which I had to chase and ask for bread as I was starving. No advice or touch base about delay. I had to stop the waiter to chase our order and request bread as we were starving. After making remarks of our disappointment they made sure the mains arrived faster but too late and the damage was done. The starter and main wasn’t exactly amazing either tbh. I only decided to chance this location as their 1st and primary/main restaurant was so good. Not sure I would ever try them again at this price point. My partner overheard an American couple experiencing the same treatment, having heard rave reviews about the other venue but had to book here due to full capacity.

Had a wonderful lunch here for my birthday. The food is delicious, the wines amazing and the service is prompt and genuinely welcoming. The set price lunch is good value and interesting.

We arrived at 10:30 less reservation and an outstanding waiter named Callum managed to fit us in at noon sharp. Additionally we needed to finish eating by 12:45 to go to the theatre. He oversaw this masterfully. The food was excellent, simple with flare. The wine list was eclectic and our rose was cool and sharp. A fine restaurant made better by outstanding service.

My daughter and I travelled from Scotland as she had previously dined here and thought I too would enjoy it.What a find ! Staff were welcoming and at once professional and knowledgeable ,while enthusiastic and agreeable. The food was delicious and the recommended wine at an affordable price point.We shall certainly return.

The food and service was good but the restaurant is way too tight. There is almost no space to move and the tables are to close each other. Our table had 0cm to the wall and around 20cm to other table

Loved our meal here. The roast chicken can’t be beat, I’ve never had any type of sauce like the one served on it, and it was incredibly moist. Perfect portion for 2. Waiter was professional and gave us a great wine recommendation based on what we planned to order. This place came highly recommended by some local friends of ours, and we Will absolutely be back on our next trip.

A fabulous Friday lunch here. The service, wine, food were all top notch. The restaurant is small though and with the tables crammed in close together it does diminish the experience a bit.

Really good reliable cooking in this small, rather cramped dining room. There is a larger room upstairs which would be more suitable for anyone hard of hearing as it became pretty noisy at one point. However - the service was excellent and the food delicious and we enjoyed a long and leisurely lunch. The chicken in Vin Jaune a particular triumph and the lamb rump was also pretty good, the lamb rare and tender and the sauce rich and silky. There is a very extensive wine list as you would expect. This is a fairly expensive restaurant but where isn't these days even for only half decent food. - and the food here is considerably better than half decent. I will happily return .

A very different feel to the other two branches and much smaller site. The food and service are as always amazing however was much busier and therefore this did impact our experience. The fish was absolutely incredible and we love the selection of wines.

Fantastic wine list, really unique choices and at a good price. The iconic chicken was iconic, I still think about the morels. Really cosy vibe, went with a group 6 and they loved it. And some madelines for dessert!

Just fabulous!!! We had THE most delicious meal here. Our waiter Guy was super patient with me over the wine trying to find me one I liked and settling on a wonderful Greek rose. Everything was perfect and I wouldn’t hesitate in booking here again on our next visit.

Outrageously good value set lunch menu. Historic building and tables are spaciously separated to keep it comfortable. Staff were very welcoming and knowledgable of the menu and wine pairing options. Service was attentive, but not overbearing. Great experience overall, will be going back!

Absolutely mid place, we booked ahead for the set menu and had checked ahead of time they’d cater for pescatarian and vegetarian menus, what we actually got was two courses of afterthought. No menu, just vegetables that were actually just the sides of other people’s main courses. Somewhere we’d been excited to go for our anniversary, but have left incredibly disappointed. My partner liked her wine but 🤷‍♂️ I can’t recommend going.

I had a spectacular experience last month at NR Soho. I think I prefer to the other two. The smaller rooms add a certain ambience to the meal and the cooking is great. The shared chicken with vin jaune and morels is one of the highlights of my year. Have ordered the chef's new book!

Back to @noblerotsoho for dinner tonight but this time at the #soho location for their roast chicken I don’t usually order roast chicken at a restaurant unless there’s something interesting about how it’s been cooked so this was a leap of faith and oh my goodness 🤤 Perfectly cooked chicken with morel mushrooms in a delicious sauce. There’s a reason this is permanently on the menu (there’s a 45min wait tho so order early). Everything else we had was also really good. The crisp choux with the chicken liver parfait left me wishing we hadn’t chosen to share, the hint of horseradish dressing the asparagus was perfect and the pain perdu with spiced ice cream will feature in my dreams tonight. I also loved the dining room at this location. I squeezed through the small front doors to this beautifully traditional and intimate dining room (which got seriously loud as it filled up).

Simple, unpretentious, and delicious food and wine! The lunch menu is excellent value. You'd be hard pressed to find this quality at this price anywhere, let alone in London.

What a delightful little restaurant and wine vault. We had excellent friendly relaxed service, a great value set menu lunch, the most amazing wine list all served in a lovely little atmospheric dark wood venue with beautiful historic murals on the walls

I've been eager to try out this spot for a while but it is not worth the hype . We managed to walk in at 5 pm for a party of three. The food was good, but not mind-blowing. Personally, I believe there are many better dining options in London at a more reasonable price point. However, the wine list is impressive, and I would suggest stopping by for a drink. Keep in mind, though, that you may need to order food due to their alcohol license requirements.

A darkly atmospheric restaurant: the upper floor is considerably calmer than the noisy ground floor dining room. On our latest visit the food and wine were good, but not outstanding. Nice service. Pricey.

Unfortunately we found that the highly-praised roast chicken was overcooked, and the morteau sausage was also on the dry side. The signature choux bun with tokaji jelly was pretty good though.

An old reliable. Never going to have a bad meal at Noble Rot, and once again wasn't dissapointed. I had the Pork Chop and it was excellent. Brilliant vibe, brilliant food, what's not to like? Tad expensive of course, but on special occasions it's worth it!

Very enjoyable restaurant. Interior has two floors. Downstairs is a conventional bistro. Upstairs is far more memorable with gorgeous murals. Server was really charming. And quite casual. Very uncomplicated French fare. Great wine list, which also featured a list of rotating new wines.
