Supposed to be a lovely night out for four, all of us mature adults looking forward to a 'special' evening together. When we booked in advance we were questioned as to where we lived, why we wanted to come, and who with, which was offputting and somewhat nosy, we felt. The tables were very small and close together so the person on the inside couldn't get out without disturbing his/her neighbour. Seating was on wooden park benches, and presumably to cover up the hard slats and side-irons, there were numerous overstuffed cushions but it was very uncomfortable. There was no room to put anything on the table once the plates finally arrived. Numerous items from the menu were 'sold out' or 'not available tonight'. In the end we settled for something the proprietor said she did have. This lady was clearly harrassed and working on her own. When we remarked on this, she said she usually had a 'girl' to help but she wasn't in that night for some reason, but then she seemed to have a list of excuses for moreorless everything. The food was poor, clearly heated up rather than freshly cooked, and the portions were small. The bread was awful. The bottle of wine we chose was over £21 and the proprietor apologetically blamed this inflated price 'on the government'! It was just grossly overpriced but, being typically English, we put up with it. Definitely not value for money, but of course the owner won't agree. If she took time out to visit other similar establishments in the locality, perhaps she might realise what she should be offering in terms of value and service. Some cookery lessons wouldn't go amiss either.

Cramped seating with too many cushions but looked forward to the pleasure of home cooked fresh food. Total disappointment, soup too salty, bread almost inedible. Service very slow, prices very high and we were also unfortunately overcharged. We love Dufftown but will not be visiting Noah's Ark again.

As my wife and I are vegetarians we were recommended Noah's Ark for our dinner. It is a cosy little place with very creative interiors.Alison, the owner was very welcoming. She lit candles around the room as we entered. We were a bit picky about the ingredients required for our meal.Alison immediately went to a nearby store and brought them. We had a lovely salad with excellent dressing, followed by a three egg omelette. An excellent PIMMS accompanied the food. We had an interesting and long conversation with Alison on all kinds of subjects. A very interesting evening.

Please ignore the negative reviews written on this site! We have visited this establishment a few times over the years and we have always been impressed with the food and the friendly service. If you are looking for fast food it may not be for you but if you want excellent "home cooking" then look no further! The menu is extensive and varied and if you are vegetarian/vegan you are well catered for! There are excellent soups and even veggie haggis! Desserts are tempting and my wife thinks the crumble is to die for! Even my father-in-law was happy...and that speaks volumes for the restaurant! The place is small and there are only a few tables so either phone or be prepared to wait for a table. So take my advice and try this lovely eatery ideal for a leisurely lunch.

I was on a recent tour of Scotland and this charming place was on a lunch stop. I ordered the chickpea burger and it was amazingly delicious! My mom ordered the grilled veggie baguette and that too was just splendid. The service did take quite a while, however, but that is understandable as it is a small place and I think about 14 of us walked in at the same time. I did feel bad about us overwhelming the two woman crew, and with how great the food was I didn't mind waiting!

This place had the potential to be good with a delicious sounding, wholesome and hearty menu however it failed on two major points. 1) The use of microwaves to heat up food - pie crust was chewy, goulash had a thick skin and the rhubarb crumble turned into a mush. 2) The price - £14 for a main meal is very pricey when it resembles your own leftovers reheated in the microwave the next day. Yes it was tasty(ish) but not what you expect in a restaurant. Also, it cost £6.10 for a bottled ale!Quirky it is, but we wont be back.

We ate there only once, that was enough. It was overpriced for the quality of food that was served. The owner was charming but the place was cluttered and not comfortable. We just had one course each but I think £15 for a curry is expensive!

Very cute- though very small (and quiet)- little cafe right in town. Nice menu for vegetarians and non. We ordered a veggie curry and veggie moussaka, and they were tasty but tasted sort of similar. Still it seemed the most original restaurant in town. Also, the owners were quite nice. When we requested the phone number for a cab to take us to our hotel just out of town, they volunteered to drive us instead. We'd go back.

Booked this hotel without looking at reviews. Upon arrival, looking at the building was an instant regret. It was only a night. How bad could it be? I went to the reception to be greeted by nobody for about 5 mins. The hotel felt dark damp and eerie as I never came across any other visitors. A man came from downstairs but was not very welcoming. I eventually found my room, going down a dark corridor. The room smelt really bad there were holes in the walls, and the bathroom was tiny. The toilet had poo still up the back of the pan, gross! The bed was very small and uncomfortable. I am 6ft an my legs hanging of the end. Due to the smell and the cleanliness a miss. I had yo check out and book into another hotel.

Was told hit food takes 20 mins. After 35 mins asked where our food was. It was delivered a couple of mins later. My cheeseburger was burnt and inedible. To be fair, after complaining they offered to cook something else, which I declined. I was given a full refund on the price of the cheeseburger.

Saturday 2nd of November, they decided to shut the restaurant, no head up or anything. Just no meals, only refreshments. Fast forward two weeks. After a 4 hour drive on the Friday, I arrived at 7.05pm. Reception said restaurant were serving until 8.30 and I was OK just to pop over and get a table. So I done that. No tables for the rest of the night. Only the tables near the bar were being used. Rest of the place was empty. Saturday seemed to go without a hitch. Sunday morning, apparently the chef pulled a sickie so there was no hot food other than what you could put through the toaster! The big lad that's in the restaurant is brand new as are some of the other FOH staff but this place need to sort the BOH staff out pronto. Also just a little tip for the servers, from someone who was in hospitality for 18 years, when someone walks in the door and stands waiting to be attended to, give them an acknowledgement. Don't just leave them standing like a spare tw4t.
