Lovely little gem of a place. Amazing food, great service, very welcoming. A charming little treasure trove to wander around with a beautiful sunny court yard at the back, very relaxing. So glad I found this place I will certainly be returning. Highly recommended if you’re in or passing through Ilminster you won’t be disappointed 😊

No 57 East St in Ilminster never fails to delight, always a warm welcome and the food is so delicious. Cafe is housed in one of the oldest buildings in Ilminster, rambling rooms of books and vintage bits and bobs. Sunny courtyard.

Delightful people, wonderful food, amazing cake. Someone wrote, best place in Ilminster for lunch. Should be, best place for miles around. Only slight drawback, no alcohol (but I think you can BYO)

Lovely lunch at #57 on Wednesday. We sat in a beautiful little courtyard at the back of the antique shop, so lovely. Food was absolutely amazing. I had chicken shawarma and my husband had the lamb kofta, both came with delicious salads and dressing. So, so yummy, worth the slight detour off the 303 and the little hike up the hill from the centre off town. Staff were so friendly considering how busy they were. Honestly, one of the best meals we’ve had for a long time, so tasty and very healthy. 10/10. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

Amazing fresh salads and wonderful homemade cakes. Coffee was the best in town. A quirky place, like an Aladdins cave. Wonderful courtyard and the staff are super friendly. A unique place and the nicest place to eat in Ilminster!! A little walk on the outskirts of town but definitely worth a visit.

Came upon this place by chance whilst on a walk. Went in primarily to look at the antiques and have a coffee but returned to have lunch because the food looked so good and the ambience of the place was lovely. The lunch lived up to expectations. We both had the pulled pork ciabatta which came with amazing frites and salad. If we were local we would definitely return many times to sample more of the delights on offer! This was the best food we have had whilst on holiday all week. The ladies who ran the cafe are so friendly as was the owner of the antique shop. Everything is so right about this place!

We were introduced to No 57 by a friend who lives locally. It is a little off the beaten track on East Street and there are no fancy signs. A partially hidden gem would be more accurate, as it is a few steps from Ilminster Arts Centre. We arrived for a weekday lunch at 1.30 ~ three of us. A lovely circular table with plenty of room. Two of us ordered "The Buddha Bowl" with chicken and one had the steak baguette. Service was efficient, pleasant and helpful. The food was not instant (thank goodness), freshly cooked to order. The Budda bowl was wonderful, cous cous, an assortment of vegetables, dressing, wonderful chicken pieces and elegantly served. This was terrifically tasty, full of different flavours and so wonderfully tasty. Totally recommended !! One diner had the steak baguette and they loved it. Steak not overcooked and served with a remarkable sauce which was perfect for the meat. All served with a side salad. We drank Ilminster's finest eau de tap chilled and just the job. Pepperment tea for two and a terrific double Espresso for me. A rich and tasty coffee served piping hot. If you are seeking deep fried instant food avoid No 57 ~ they serve a wide range of quality home cooked dishes which will delight many a palette. FABULOUS FOOD

Lovely visit. Went with a friend for tea/coffee and cake. Both had a Latte and a slice of cherry Bakewell cake. Not had that cake before. Very tasty. No parking outside so had to park in the Tescos car park and walk to the cafe.

No 57 is always a surprise. Unassuming on the outside and quirky on the inside. It's primary role may be an antique shop but it's secondary role as a cafe really makes it a place to visit All the food is very tasty, and having visited several times, have yet to have a meal that has not been excellent. In fact The "Buddha Bowl", either the meat or the vegetarian option, leaves you feeling like you should have ordered else as you struggle to finish it. But finish it you do as it is too good to waste. If by chance, you do have space for afters, than the choice of cakes is amazing. No 57 has to be visited to be believed.

Wow! My friend and I came from Dorchester to Ilminster today and had the most wonderful lunch, sun shining, we sat in the courtyard basking in the warmth of late March sunshine and feeling the winter blues disappear! Our lunch was utterly delicious with the most beautiful salads, friendly, welcoming and a really lovely relaxing atmosphere along with the amazing collection of antiques, curiosity and retro items we were surrounded by. What a great fun place to be and a perfect place to eat fabulous, home cooked, beautifully presented, Uber tasty food of great value for money! Thank you, all you peeps at No. 57 x

Fresh, well-balanced dishes. My husband usually has a meat dish, but I love the vegetarian options that they offer. A perfect place for lunch, or a mid-morning break alongside the interesting vintage shop. Delightful staff and always delicious, wholesome food. Highly recommend.

Looking through the window this place looks tiny, but there is a warren of rooms leading off from the entrance so don't be put off if the tables you can see are full. We have visited a couple of times recently and both times the food has been excellent. An excellent lunch venue, with lovely staff and excellent cakes. It is located up East street between a lot of residential houses so, just keep going up East Street to find it.
