No4 in Bolsover

The staff are really welcoming and the service is excellent. The ambience and tasteful décor compliment everything and i would say one of the best cafe's or bistro been to in a while. We travelled from Belper which is a town blessed with great eateries. No 4 ranks highly with all of the cafes here and we will visit again! Great value for money and excellent food and coffee, thanks again!

We go regularly to No4 it is always a great pleasure, both the food and staff are excellent. Highly recommend it, including the secret garden.

Have wanted to visit here for ages but were very disappointed. In fact we walked to Tesco to get a pizza as we were still hungry and we are not big eaters! Below is the photo of the sharing platter we had, much less than the one placed by management onto this site. We essentially had 4 prawns, 4 cod goujons, 2 pieces of toast cut into 4, small pot of salmon pate, small pot of potato salad with a piece of smoked salmon and some side salad for the 2 of us to share. Food tasted fine but over priced at £29, for the platter provided, which was embarrassingly miserly by management.

We really enjoyed this event and would be very happy to recommend to others. It was our first evening visit and will definately return. We found that the food, beer and serice was excellent. As were the folks from Welbeck. Their blue chesse was knockout.

After moving to the area and driving past I thought No 4 looked a pleasant cafe was only put off before because of no parking. I was out walking today so thought I would finally get my chance to try it out. First impressions lovely little cafe bigger than it seems and was busy so this always is a good start. Whilst looking through the menu I couldn’t believe the prices nearly 12 pound for a sandwich and if I wanted to add crisps or cheese £1.60 which I thought was a bit much when it arrived the food was nice but I think for what you pay it wasn’t worth it I think for a local cafe in Clowne it’s prices are a bit extreme I would go again but it wouldn’t be my first choice. Our bill came to over 40 pound and we didn’t eat/drink much to show for it.

We stopped here to break a long journey after seeing it on the "The extra mile" (or similar) website that recommends alternatives to motorway services. It was exceptional! 4 of us stopped, one who is coeliac (gluten free) and the other who is following the 'Noom' diet and both had great options. The portions were generous, the service was friendly and the food quality was fantastic. The cake cabinet looked amazing - wish we'd had space to have some as dessert! It was very accessible from the motorway and had a wonderful atmosphere - so glad to have stopped here and a would wholeheartedly recommend it.

Nice building, decor and feel. We arrived at 11.45 and were told we couldnt order from the breakfast menu (it was exactly 11.45 when we were told this), we could order from the other menus, but they couldnt put it through until 12pm. We decided to order from the 'all day' menu to be told that was also 12pm before our order would actually go through. This also meant that we ended up ordering things which cost about half the price of what we were intending to order. Weird! The food was good when it did come. Also this place doesnt come up as a restaurant in trip advisor, it is classed as tea and coffee only, there arent a lot of options in the area so may be missing out on customers here.

We came as a family group of 10 plus a dog and were treated very well. The cafe was very busy which led to a slight delay with the food, but the food itself was excellent as was every other aspect of the visit. A very pleasant warm and comfortable place staffed by very nice people.

Have always driven past and fancied trying this place and today we finally did. We will certainly be back. Food, atmosphere and service were all wonderful despite the business of Christmas. Would highly recommend.

As per title! Its a lovely place to be with friendly staff and immaculately kept, Warm and cozy, the reason for our discontent is certain aspects of the food, I swapped new potatoes for potato skins chips but when I checked our bill I was charged for both £4.50 i normally check our bill before we leave. My bake beans were loaded with herbs I don’t particularly like herbs so I find that very strange, The wife’s soup had a lot of pepper added to it they do have pepper on their tables she would have preferred to add her own because the amount was extremely hot well over the top. Don’t be put off going to the No4 Because it is a a very nice place Even i will return but I shall be slightly on my guard, I feel out of pocket by £4.50.

This is the breakfast out of choice for us! Fantastic service and lovely tasty food at reasonable prices. Wouldn’t mind paying a little more to support this place to be honest! There aren’t many places left where you can have attentive service from the owner himself. Long May this place thrive and continue. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend!

Visited No4 for a pre Christmas get together with friends. We ordered the festive sharing board and afternoon tea. Food as always, was amazing! The staff are always extremely friendly with nothing too much trouble. Would always recommend No4 for quality food in a relaxed atmosphere.

Came in on journey from Northumberland to the south. Excellent coffee and sandwiches. Cheerful staff who made a great fuss of our dog. So close to M1 it makes a better choice than crowded services.

We went to No4 the first time at 4pm not realising it was closing but the girl gave us a bag of dog chews for the dogs anyway, which was kind. The next time we went was a Monday and their closed day. Third time lucky, we got to go in and eat onThursday morning, it didnt disappoint. The two ladies serving were lovely and friendly and the dogs got treats straight away. Our breakfasts, Eggs Benedict and Eggs Royal were beautifully presented and delicious as was the coffee. The decor and atmosphere was lovely, it's just a shame we were only there for the week and can't frequently go there.

The food here is nice and well prepared unfortunately some of the meal was overcooked and took away from the rest of it. It took a while to come to us too as we finished hot drinks long before the meal appeared. The prices were also insane compared to what we ordered as I've had many meals cost less and taste as good. The staff were super friendly and talked like we were old regulars. Generous 3/5 rating.

Such a shame that this place is badly run. Great furniture, great decor and great menu. Problem is it's atmosphere is the very opposite of a coffee shop. Louder than spoons on a Friday night. Such a shame

Love going to No4 to have a coffee and breakfast. Food is beautifully cooked with a good choice. Coffee is awesome and atmosphere is relaxing. Also right next to the the Clowne Greenway so a great place to go for a walk afterwards.

Came tonight on the off chance and luckily managed to get a table in the outside courtyard.Had a lovely evening in the sunshine, and had the cheese lovers sharing board with a baked camembert, followed up by freshly baked, warm Bakewell Tart and ice cream. We were driving through Clowne and No.4 caught our eye. We turned around to have a better look and saw it was doing takeaway food and drink so we called in. We only had drinks and a snack but the owner showed us the tea gardens which they were getting ready for opening up next week. The tea gardens looked an ideal place to spend a bit of time relaxing on an afternoon so we said we'd be back to give it a go. We ordered a mocha and a dirty chai and both were lovely and of good quality. I would definitely recommend No.4 and wish the owners well as lockdown eases. Clowne is lucky to have a place like this and we will call back again.

Visited with Mum, Sis and Aunt for brunch . We travelled from Doncaster to take Mum and Aunt on nostalgic trip round their childhood haunts when we came across this little diamond. What a lovely place very well decorated great ambience. The lady behind the counter was great very attentive and accommodating. Service was superb , due to unforeseen circumstances we could not stay long so just ordered tea, scones and tea cakes . All of the food was first class and we were served very quickly which we appreciated. Will definitely go back when we can stay longer. Lovely place , food and staff.

Well what can we say, popped into No 4 today on a off chance visit and was not disappointed. We do not live that far away and have seen the coffee shop loads of times with intention of going but never got round to it. We had a lovely brunch this morning, I had eggs benedict with ham and my wife had it with smoked salmon and cream cheese, amazing and delicious. With two very nice slices of cake to follow.Staff where lovely and the atmosphere is nice too, a lively little place where you can have a grown up time out and not feel pressured or rushed. Would we recommend it YES, would we go again YES, hoping to even try and get a sitter so we can try a evening meal. Huge thumbs up from us.

Called in for a quick coffee and a pastry and, as ever, was not disappointed. Really well made Americano and TWO fresh and flaky sausage rolls, sitting in the sun! A simple but delicious treat. Great to see Lynn, David and the team all back from their new year break.

We brought my Mum in on Thursday for a creamed tea. It is the first time we have visited and we were really impressed. The flowers outside and the quirky decor made it a lovely relaxing place to sit and we loved the little history books that were inside to read. The scones and cake were beautiful and the man that served us was lovely and polite. We’ll definitely be back again, thanks for a lovely time

My friend Julia & I decided to book a table for the "fish & seafood" themed night. I have to say this is the 5th themed night i have done. Previous ones are...Caribbean, Mexican, Brazillian & Indian. Every one ive been too, the food is absoloutely top notch. However, I have to admit, i was a little unsure about the fish night. Dont get me wrong, I knew the food would be 5 star, but i thought it might be a little basic with it being fish. Oh my god. How wrong was I. The starter was exceptional, it was a crab in a coconut sauce, served in a little shell of filo pastry. Lovely to get the tastebuds going. The best was yet to come. The main course was prawn stroganoff, OMG never tasted anything like it & also a dish of cod baked with banana cream, topped with cheese, with a side order of potato & mackerel & another of rice, followed by a light but tasty desert. Is there any wonder that there is a waiting list at this place.

We went for Afternoon Tea as a work outing (5 of us), booked in advance with a variety of food allergies to cater for. We were very well looked after with friendly staff and lovely environment. There is a lovely outside garden too which was too chilly today but will go another day when sunny. The food was lovely, tasty and fresh with a refreshingly good variety. We will definitely go back here. It was so nice to be able to eat normal food alongside others and not feel like the odd one out - my Afternoon Tea was gluten and dairy free and my display looked just as nice as everyone else's. Definitely a place to visit -- not far from Creswell Crags either.

We visited here for a lunchtime treat on a Saturday. I phoned to book the table as I wanted to check that a wheelchair would fit through the door and also ask if dogs are welcome. The lady I spoke to was really friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. We were given a table just inside the door which was really handy - no messing about. Service was good. We ordered cheese tart which came with salad and potato wedges; a jacket potato; and a sausage roll with a side order of wedges. All the food was beautifully cooked and presented. My son says the wedges are the best he's ever had and we need to take him back again soon! All in all a lovely family lunch. Would definitely recommend as the owners are so friendly and accommodating. We need to return to try out the cakes! Prices are reasonable and the menu choice is good as there's something for everyone. Our little dog was also offered a biscuit and water! Great place.

Lovely venue fab food brilliant service pity the management spoilt our celebrations by not letting us have a piece of 50 th birthday cake because we it had not been bought at the venue even though our bill was over £100 & the place was very quiet so we weren’t taking up a table To the management I’ve worked in the catering industry for over 30 years as a manager & never ever I repeat ever have I Known this to happen take a close look at yourselves before you become greedy & money orientated ps there was no need for the nasty glare when you through the box back on the table very unprofessional perhaps a customer care cause would do you good there’s loads on line

We visited No4 on Easter Saturday and had a lovely lunch in the cafe’s garden. The sun was shining and the welcome was just as warm. We always love visiting No4 and Lynn and the team made our visit a great one.

Perfect family lunch at No4 today. This has become our favourite venue for relaxing with great food, service and surroundings. It is always an absolute pleasure to visit. Cannot recommend No 4 highly enough... and dogs are made most welcome too.

My friend and I called in for lunch and really enjoyed our time there. We had a pot of tea, jacket potato and followed on with some scrumptious cake. The place was spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly too.

On this occasion we had missed the lunch time rush, so we had our coffee straight away, but our meals took about 10 minutes to appear. It was worth the wait, my sandwich salad and coleslaw looked and tasted fabulous. My husband's Jacket Potato was large filled and was baked in the oven, not in the microwave. We are in no way regulars but are always welcomed and the staff are always pleasant. The day we ate here the sun was shining and I wish we had sat in the garden, maybe next time.....

I’ve recently moved around here and I popped in here with my boys and it just didn’t seem very welcoming for family’s.

I recently visited with some friends for lunch, it was cold and the cafe just wasn’t welcoming. It’s the first time I’ve tried this cafe. I found it expensive for what you got. There are far nicer places to visit locally like the Parish Oven where you get decent food for a better price.

What a great place this is. Recently refurbished it has retained some of the old period features from the shop that's stood on this site for over 75 years. It offers locals and visitors a variety of hot and cold drinks (it's also licensed), cakes, sandwiches and a selected menu for more hearty appetites. It also has a themed menu on selected Friday evenings which is well worth attending but you have to book early to avoid disappointment. The place is great, it has a tea garden when the weather gets warmer, the staff are attentive and very polite and the food is just what you expect from such a lovely establishment. This is a real gem and that goes from strength to strength.

Absolutely love this place! Visited a number of times with friends and family on different occasions and there is nothing too much trouble for Lynn and the team!

As a treat for my mother after having a hip replacement I decided to give this place a try, at first we were impressed with the modern exterior and quirky decorations. Sadly seating is limited and we were squashed into a dark corner with extremely poor seating especially for my elderly mother, we both found it a little cool and both kept on our jackets.

I have visit No4 a few times now with my family and have always enjoyed each of my visits. The service, food and ambience is spot on! All the negativity to this page is uncalled for and to me looks like some local business has a vendetta. Lynn and team keep up the amazing work and carry on being you and honest.

Expected so much more from this place, recently moved to the area so was looking forward to a decent cafe in the area.

I came here with my 2 young sons and grandma for a hot chocolate. After being on edge thinking my son's will be up and out of the seats (being kids as kids do) and being a disturbance.

After dropping all the kids off at school me and my friends decided to have coffee at this café. It would be nice if you could serve us our coffee with a smile rather than give out a frosty atmosphere. After finishing our drinks we could feel the glares as though we weren't welcome any longer - soon after we decided to leave. Safe to say we won't be returning any time soon.

Visiting with my bf and decided to pop in for lunch. Staff know nothing about the menu, rude and unhelpful .

My partner and I love coming to No.4 for brunch. The food is always delicious, the atmosphere and decor is fantastic and it truly is the best coffee around. The staff here are lovely and so welcoming. We've heard such great things about the theme evenings too so we'll definitely be coming back soon with friends to experience those!

I feel I have to place a review on here as to inform others.... my mum and I visited No 4 for breakfast a couple of weeks ago and both had poached eggs on toast and a pot of tea. The tea came and was fine, we waited nearly 20 minutes for our breakfast by which time we had no tea left to go with it. The toast was stone cold and the eggs like rubber!!!!!

I’ve been here several times in the last few months, many of those times for afternoon tea. The service and attention to detail is impeccable and the food is lovely! All items are reasonably priced and of an excellent quality. A real local gem that I cannot recommend more highly! Thank you No.4!

Very nice welcoming staff, lovely place and the food was delicious. Portion sizes were just right and very nicely presented and great value for money. We will be calling again when we are next in that area and maybe will try one of their themed nights

Came here with a friend for a catch up and it's great that it opens late on Friday cause we struggle to find a Coffee Shop that does that. Friendly/great staff and the décor is gorgeous. The hot chocolate was great. The only thing is that it is £10 and over for credit cards and we had no cash so a quick pop over to Tesco was needed but apart from that. The atmosphere was relaxing as well. I'll be coming back soon

What a wonderful evening, great service. Food was acceptable, limited menu but was aware of the fact before booking. Worth a visit or two. Only serve evening meals on Friday but also do theme nights once a month and can’t wait to book. Give it a go!

Had a very nice lunch there today. Waitress , Aysia, was really pleasant and helpful. Would appreciate some padding on the chairs though. Perhaps they aren’t so hard if you don’t spend 3 hours having a good catch up with your friend.😄

Valentines night was a special occasion thanks to No4, the menu was exceptional and the food outstanding. Just the correct amount of time in between courses and attentive staff that couldn’t do enough for you. Reasonably priced and a variety of beverages to boot. It’s my 4th visit to No4 and certainly won’t be my last I love the place.

What a find! Such a wonderful building with friendly staff. We ordered breakfast, the eggs were cooked brilliantly and the bread was really fresh. I’ve definitely found my new fave cafe. I can see why they have been awarded a certificate of excellence. Must visit!

Had afternoon Tea here on Saturday, Me & my other half go in quiet often,but on Saturday a group of 8 of us called in. Service was fast & friendly food & drink was as good as always!!!!

Needed somewhere to meet old school friends not seen for 50years, this place was the old toy shop we all remember so booked a table. We loved it, the staff we lovely and friendly, we were chatting a lot but we were not rushed.into ordering, when we did our food was lovely. This place is well worth a visit, we will use again next,t time.

First time I've been here , my friends have been before and recommend I try it which I did, the last time I went in this place it was with my daughter a few years ago owned by Mrs Rattue , it was nice to see that the owner's had kept most of the shop counter the same as the old shop was ,the food was excellent staff couldn't do enough for us smilling friendly staff made our evening hat off to all

Four of us had a great lunch in a beautifully converted shop from my childhood. The owner took time to show us around and explain the work they had clearly undertaken with a passion. The menu was mouthwatering and catered for all tastes and the food was obviously home made. This business deserves to do very well indeed and is a must for anyone looking to eat and or drink well in the local area!

Called in after reading good reviews and it did not disappoint. Coffee is very good quality and there is a selection of gluten free cakes, not just a dry brownie.

This is an old toy shop that has been very sympathetically renovated with many of the original fixtures and fittings retained. This place does a good range of coffee, cake, lunch type stuff in the day as well as a basic but good food range in the evening. The wine range is limited but perfectly acceptable. This is a lovely little independent, which is the best place in the village by some way. The owners and staff deserve much credit and I hope they and the restaurant go from strength to strength. I will be going again when I am back in clowne

My partner and I are both from Whitwell and go into Clowne a lot to do our shopping at Tesco. We drive past this place all the time and kept on saying we needed to go in because it looked so nice on the inside. We're glad we finally did.

Our first visit to Clowne. It was a mining village not too pretty but what a find No 4. I understand it was an old Toy Shop and many of the old fittings, shelves etc have been re-used to great effect. The food was excellent, beautifully served. The staff were lovely, most helpful. Coffee and desserts a must. Looking forward to another visit to try another dish ( and dessert !!!!) We could recommend most highly.

1st time at this eatery. We came here for an evening meal and found the surroundings very nice. However the menu is very limited for an evening out.
