Nice cafe inside , ordered a panni , sandwich arrived which i have say was very nice , HOWEVER, the sandwich came with a bit of salad and 3 crisps ! i asked if it was possible to have a few more crisps and it was refused , i was told i could by a full bag if i required more crips, by what appeared to be the manager, HOWEVER on the way out the same person was observed washing a bowl of prawns which were placed in a dish in a sink that was labeled and designed for hand washing only, were the prawns still frozen, who knows ? but why would you put a dish of prawns in a sink for hand washing and leave the tap running ? maybe the cafe could let us know ?

I was disappointed with my visit today. Been so looking forward to my visit. The place was over crowded. I ordered a scone and asked it to be warmed .It had clearly been left in microwave to long as went hard .If wanted jam had to pay extra for a minute amount. There was no social distancing. My friend and I had not even got off our seats when a couple who had clearly wanted the seats came and sat at the table before we even left We had still not got up .Table not cleared or cleaned. I would think more control and care would be taken .

We have regularly visited No. 43 for a number of years and have always been pleased with the quality of food and service, however our last two visits, (just before lockdown and this month), have been noticeably different. Our orders were mixed up both times, resulting in us having to reorder “missed” items and our group eating at separate times. Whilst the staff are polite there seemed to be little concern at the mistakes either time. We appreciate that mistakes happen, however the way they are dealt with makes the real difference and we felt disappointed with the level of service on both occasions and have decided that we won’t be visiting again.

Me and my wife called in after having the debate of using the newly opened big chain coffee shop or supporting a small local business, we got a table in the back room and ordered, whilst sat waiting the door to the rear of the shop was wedged open so my wife got up and shut it much to the delight of 3 other couples in the area, I'm guessing it was the manager(only guessing customer service was zero) who duly came and opened it again, upon doing this was told by another customer it was cold with it open she arrogantly replied we're waiting for a delivery so it had to stay open!! no apology no nothing. 25 minutes later the so called delivery had not been so from now on it will be costa coffee for us....

Called for lunch a couple of weeks ago with my wife. Coffee for two / one cheese and onion toastie and one brunch panini. Up to their usual standard I'm happy to say. Staff are always friendly and polite. We have brought the in laws and friends here since we moved to Brighouse and they liked it as well. Never had a bad experience here. Will certainly be making more visits.

Friendly reasonably efficient service and good quality food and coffee. Little more than half the price for toasted sandwiches than one expects to pay in most garden centres in Yorkshire these days. It's also probably the best coffee shop in Brighouse but I don't think there are that many for a town of this size.

We called in for coffee and the only table available was not cleared from the previous customers. When the waitress brought our coffee, I asked her if she would mind clearing the table. She took the dirty dishes away, but left crumbs. Not pleasant! We shall not bother to go again.

Menu was dirty and sticky I asked it to be wiped before I used it. They obliged but I'm afraid to say I had to ask again as it still was sticky. The plastic menu holder was also dirty and full of dust. Certainly not seen a cloth of any sort despite their protestations that they are washed nightly!! It was only noon when we were in the cafe, hardly enough time for the items to get in this state. The sugar bowl was also coated in something sticky like chutney. On arriving home my husbands trousers were dirty as if there was something on the seat he sat in. It is only a sandwich/cake and coffee shop. The standards at this place have declined rapidly, even the choice of cakes, etc has deteriorated. This used to be a first class establishment. Even some of the staff are leaving.

I visited the coffee house last week with my husband and 2 young kids, one 10 and a toddler. I asked for a high chair for one of my kids and one of the young girls kindly brought it over to the table for us and moved the furniture to fit it in. The service was relatively fast and when the food came it was absolutely delicious. Children’s sized sandwiches are also available which was perfect for my children. Overall I enjoyed my visit to the cafe and will definitely be returning soon

Myself and my grandma popped in the other day for some lunch. It was amazing. After we placed our food order of the ‘special panini’ it came quite promptly. The meal itself was quite filling and was absolutely lovely. The staff were very polite and couldn’t do enough for us. We needed disabled access to get in and going to toilets and all the facilities were there. The staff were extremely understanding with every aspect. The newly refurbished toilets were easy to access especially for someone in a wheelchair. The whole cafè is very modern and well looked after.

I went for the first time last week, although it looked very busy outside I managed to find a table only to be told by a member of staff that I couldn't sit at that table, so I sat at another one. Service at the counter was friendly and my food and drink didn't long to arrive. The prawn sandwich was particularly good and I enjoyed my cappuccino iced frappe. A very enjoyable visit.

My partner and I popped in on Saturday for a coffee. It was quite busy but the service was spot on. We found a table, looked at the menu and then I went to order our coffees. The gentleman with the lovely blue hair took our table number and our order. The same gentleman brought the coffees to our table and was very friendly. The coffees tasted absolutely amazing. My partner said it’s the best coffee he has had anywhere in a long time. Very happy with our experience. Can I just add, after reading some other reviews on here, I don’t understand what people’s problem is with choosing a table before going to the till to order their food? This is done in a lot of places. Surly it’s better for the customer? That way, when it’s very busy, you don’t end up ordering and then finding there are no seats available!

I recently visited this cafe for the first time and had a pleasant experience! Me and my friend felt very welcomed from walking in the door to leaving. Although fairly busy the staff greeted us straight away and a woman politely asked for us to get a table number then order at the counter once ready. We ordered two latte’s, a slice of chocolate fudge cake and a lemon muffin. A young lady brought them all over within 5 minutes. The coffee not only tasted great but was also presented beautifully! The cakes were also to a high standard and the gentlemen working ensured us they were homemade which we could definitely tell. All the staff seemed to really get on which made the place that little bit more welcoming and we could tell they work well as a team through the fast service and excellent quality. Highly recommend!!!

We visited no. 43 having not visited for a week or two. There was no chicken tikka for baguettes plus no whole meal bread for toasties- which greatly disappointed my husband. I had a cheeses and pickle baguette. What has happened to the baguettes- soft pappy bread - again disappointment. Noticeably there were not so many customers. It seems to be getting worse. A shame as it was great for coffee and a quick bite. There were no currant teacakes available either.

I’ve never done a review before, but felt I needed to now.I used to meet friends here but we stood going last year because of the terrible atmosphere in the Coffee shop. But I was recently informed that there are now new owners, so we thought we would give it another go a few days ago.The coffees were lovely and the food we ordered was tasty.However...The atmosphere is still the same. The ladies serving come across as very unapproachable. They barely look you in the eye and you are lucky if you get even a hint of a smile. The whole time we were there, the young ladies working there looked like they didn’t want to be there! Maybe a customer facing job just isn’t for them?We were however pleased to see the tall gentleman with the fantastic hair is still there! We used to always love to guess how he would be having his hair the next time we went in. I don’t recall his name, but he is always friendly and polite. We had high hopes that this place had changed for the better. It could be a really lovely place. Like I said, the coffee and food are really good. Just some of the staff maybe need a bit of training in Customer Service?

It was quiet so I expected to be served pretty quickly but the staff I could see were too busy to deal with me or the other lady left waiting for about 6 minutes, they've implemented a new policy of telling staff which table you're at (They can't be bothered looking for you) So seeing my favourite table was free I told them 8, I ordered and was just about to pay when 2 other customers entered the shop, went straight to the back and sat on table 8, they'd not even ordered anything, I asked the staff why they were only enforcing their policy on some customers and not the others - they tried directing me to another table - If I'd not been left waiting ages to be served I'd have been at the table already - so I left and went a few doors down to where the staff actually look after the customers rather than treat them as an inconvenience.

No.43 The Coffee House Brighouse has changed hands. Nothing has changed drastically. Coffee is still good and the new muffins are lovely and you can pay contactlessly before it was cash only. Somehow the atmosphere is not quite the same. Went in on Saturday and did not recognise any of the youngsters there. I was served by a young lady who did not look me in the eye and kept looking at the window. Can’t stand that. The young man there needs to learn about customer service. Lacks any personality or conversation and will totally ignore you if involved in something else more interesting. This I stress is the Saturday youngsters. They need a few lessons in dealing with the public.I hope this improves as we are ‘regulars’ here.

I was hopeful about this cafe but sadly disappointed. I could probably deal with mediocre food if it wasn’t for the poor attitude by the service (apart from 1 waitress - wearing logo shirt). For anyone with a baby, this isn’t the most comfortable place. Baby change is in the corridor outside toilets. I’m not bothered about people seeing me change but it was awkward for the men to get to the toilet and there isn’t anywhere to put prams without getting in the way. It’s not expected, just a point to consider. The shop doesn’t take card and after one waitress said I could pay at the end and nip out to get cash, a different girl served me and when I came back with cash and sat down she came to the table and asked if I could pay and then if I could come up to till so she could give me change. At this point I’d just squeezed into the corner with a hungry and agitated baby so no, I’ll give the cash now and you keep the change. The food was pretty poor actually. I ordered a panini where the bread that was used was clearly stale and unpleasant to eat and my baby girl wouldn’t eat the rest of the cheese sandwich and I don’t blame her. The cheese was actually tasteless and felt like cheap grated mozzarella but I presume it’s just cheap grated cheese which is not good enough for £3.10. I will say that the No.43 mocha I had was lovely but certainly won’t be going back nor will I be recommending it.

We have regularly frequented this cafe on week days for coffee and a snack for many years now and find the menu varied and reasonably priced with good service, however on this occasion we went with our young children on a Saturday morning and whilst it was a little busier than when we usually go, the staff were very young and inexperienced compared with during the week and so the service was seriously lacking having to go back to the counter twice to chase up items that had been forgotten, such a shame.

I regularly visit cafe 43 and have done for years. There is a small mature lady member of staff who is none other than fantastic! She works like a Trojan and is warm and friendly in her manner. I used to visit with a young man with learning difficulties, she was wonderful with him; reserving his favourite seat and allowing him the time to choose and place his owner order - not rushing him at all. An absolute asset to the business. The vegetarian panini is very nice indeed and the coffee is without doubt the best in Brighouse. The interior is starting to look a little tired and could do with a bit of a refurb however the shop front has just been changed, so this may we'll be in the pipeline.I visit on a weekly basis and will continue to do so

I don't rate this place at all. When Blackley's owned the shop I found the food and the service a lot betterThe the food is average. and me personally, I prefer sandwiches at one of there competitors. . I complained to staff here about their coffee been weak, and been a coffee drinker I do recognise a decent cup, I was met with the same old "no one else has complained , you could try another shot...We can't help it if you like strong coffee" mmm, let me see, that would cost me another 25 30p on top of what I've already paid. If the coffee is of decent strength to begin with, one shouldn't need an extra shot! Also the staff could do with more customer training on politeness. Whilst some of the staff are ok, I have on one or two occasions found some members of staff to be quite rude in there mannerisms, to the point of been arrogant...

I went in Cafe 43 today at 9.45am, I was seen by a member of staff who was chatting to another member of staff at the time, but she didn't acknowledge me in any way or ask for my order as I was stood at the counter.Eventually a third member of staff appeared (after being ignored by the first two) and took my order - an americano. I paid for it and she told me to sit down and she would bring it over.Five minutes later I'm still waiting for my coffee whilst the member of staff plays with her mobile phone behind the counter.I politely asked if my coffee was ready, they looked at me like I was scum and one if the staff replied "she's just doing it, she's busy doing some take out orders". The coffee finally arrived, but there was no apology and she refused to make eye contact. I don't like leaving poor reviews but when you are in the public service sector you need to know how to be polite and deal with people in the right manner. Unfortunately the staff at Cafe 43 don't know how to do this. The shop was not busy, and I'm at a loss as to why two members of staff stood idly by twiddling their thumbs waiting for the third member of staff to make the coffee. Plus why do take out orders take priority over a person who is physically in the shop?Thankfully there are plenty of other local cafes to choose from.

Arrived at 12:45. Told no soup left so the soup is obviously not made daily. I’m sure nobody is eating soup for breakfast so working on the assumption that lunch starts around 12, they’re either not making enough or they’re using leftovers. Ridiculously slow service. Waited 45 minutes for 2 overpriced sandwiches. Slice of cake £3.75, wafer thin. Staff surly and unwelcoming. Not a good place to eat at all.

After going here for over 25 years never again. Poor customer service, prioritise the online orders and ignore face to face customers. 4 staff in the shop and was ignored by all bar 1. The service has been steadily going down hill and tonight was the last straw. Such a shame as I like to support small local businesses who need the support.
