We came in here to buy some picnic bits and pieces for a day at the beach This is what we bought and this is what we thought of it on a scale of one to 10 ..10 being excellent Hotdog sausage roll ..disgusting ..one out of 10 Normal sausage roll, cheap sausage meat 2 out of 10. Broccoli and blue cheese quiche absolutely tasteless no blue cheese and totally unseasoned one out of 10 Quiche Lorraine just unseasoned egg again totally tasteless disgraceful Ham and leek quiche, which was okay 4 out of 10 . Honestly, I was appalled by how bad it was somewhere I will not buy stuff from again. Oh I forgot the cruffin with pistachio cream, which again was not a proper cruffin and did not taste of pistachio at all. Whoever is doing the cooking here really needs to up their game we definitely won’t be back.

Being New Year's Day, there was no waiter/waitress service for the bistro section upstairs, which was fine. But I could not taste the brie in my spinach and brie tartlet, and it was under-seasoned too, so it had hardly any flavour at all. I also ordered an Americano with hot milk, but was given a lukewarm drink with 50:50 coffee and milk (I watched in amazement as I saw the assistant pour it out, and wouldn't have mentioned it in this review, if it hadn't been lukewarm as well as being the wrong order, as am not averse to a latte). The decor upstairs had a retro 1970s feel, not nice at all, and entirely out of keeping with the quaint shop downstairs.

We visited the Bistro twice - the quirky & interesting building and name drew me in initially! On our first visit we were kept waiting far too long - a table of 6 arrived just before us & dithered quite a lot, but then were only having drinks & croissants so not sure what was going on with the timing there! - but fortunately we were not in a hurry and when our order was taken and the food arrived, it was worth the wait. Brie & quince jelly baguette - yum! The next morning we decided to give it another try & were served almost instantly(!) - we were the only ones there at that time! - continental breakfast, again really good. Definitely worth a visit. The shop downstairs was also worth a look.

I am giving purely on my customer experience today!! have been a customer of No Name Cafe since they opened. Food and coffee are always delicious and fresh. It all started waiting for the person in main shop to finish texting for a while!!! then we gave our orders to eat outside, start raining so asked can we go upstairs same person said yes !!! then we sat upstairs and have been told off quite rudely that we can’t have our orders upstairs they are different and different price… I totally understand sitting in the cafe could be more expensive etc and happy to pay the difference [I never been upstairs before ] but it was not offered… when you go downstairs and you hear that actual person caused all the problems, slugging about you to other customers !!! Shame I always enjoyed No Name but I won’t be visiting it again…

Popped in here over the weekend for a bite to eat at lunchtime. The bistro upstairs was really quite which made me quite nervous as it was lunchtime but you never know. Service was great, really friendly and order taken and drinks and food came out perfectly. We had a quiche and a croque monsieur. Both were utterly delicious, big portion in each plate and we left feeling very full and totally satisfied. Definitely recommend and will be back for sure.

We rarely leave reviews but the shop in Sandwich has declined badly this year. We are local residents and want to support local independent businesses, but the standard of service and products and quality are disappointing to say the least. The visit this morning around 9 was not good enough. The 2 members of staff barely looked up and acknowledged me and it’s took several minutes to serve me. They continued their conversation whilst serving me and frankly this shows lack of respect and training. Where has the product knowledge and excellent service gone that we used to have from this shop. The shop in Deal seems to be thriving still but unless the shop in Sandwich doesn’t get its act together, we will be nipping through to one of the farm shops to buy our deli products where we can get expertise and service from people that care about what they do and the customers they want to look after.

We live locally and NNS fairly regularly. The staff are attentive and the menu is big but is ideal for brunch or lunch. The food is well presented and with generous portions you won’t be leaving hungry! After you’ve eaten, have look at the deli on the way out, plenty of tempting cakes etc to take home. I have no connection with NNS except as a happy customer.

Sandwich, a small town with a history going back to Anglo Saxon times. Quaint shops and buildings all worth a look-see. Amongst these is a two story old-style delicatessan shop with a bistro above called the "No Name Shop". The inventory in the shop is mainly French together with local content. Similarly, upstairs in the bistro it is somewhat French. Lovely homemade soup and fresh baguettes. The luncheon menu would suit most tastes. Wine is available and the coffee is strong and great. Service was swift and friendly. Later found out the chef/ owner is French. Well worth a visit.

On our last day of a few in Sandwich we were looking for a place for lunch before heading home and chose here after a look at the produce on sale in the shop on the ground floor. You then have to climb a staircase at the back to get to the bistro.Managed to get a window table and went for the ham and cheese platter which was very good for the money. Decent selection of drinks and decent service levels meant we enjoyed our lunchtime visit here.

This was a great pit stop for lunch, ahead of our journey back to London. The light and airy 1st floor bistro was great for looking out over the town and is, in itself, a lovely old building. We had the cheese and ham platter and the Provençal one, so we could pick from both, which was accompanied by walnut bread. Very tasty and filling, so we had a doggy bag to enjoy the next day! I had an Americano coffee to finish and I think the difference in taste some have mentioned previously, is that we have become accustomed to Italian coffees and this was of the French style (it is a French bistro after all). It was altogether a very pleasant experience and I would eat here again if in town.

There are some great little cafes for lunch in Sandwich, but wanting a change, we tried upstairs at le bistro. We were instantly struck by the lack of friendliness but decided to stay as it was raining. We found the menu expensive for lunch so we ordered the cheapest thing which was the baguettes at 6.50 each. The description sounded lovely but when they arrived we were very underwhelmed. They were very small, dry, and served in a basket with very little filling inside. They took such a long time coming we expected them to be special. They must be making a big profit on them! We didnt complain because the staff were very brusque and frankly, a little scary! We wont be going back.

The staff are always friendly and attentive. The food is authentically French, and drinks, meats & cheeses etc. come direct from France. What I like about this place is that the menu has a good selection and the food has always been very tasty (particularly the baguettes!), it's nice to go to a cafe and get something a little different from your normal sandwich menu! We were in Sandwich on a Sunday afternoon, looking for a lunch spot and not having much luck (some were already closers, others full or not what we were in the mood for). We stumbled across Le Bistro, and were so glad we did. What a terrific place. We ordered quiches and baguettes from the downstairs delicatessen, and everything was very fresh and very tasty. The baguette bread itself was lovely and soft - some of the best I've ever had. The fillings were simple but fresh and tasty. I had the Brie & Bacon while my partner has the Roast Pork. Both were very good, as were our mushroom and camembert quiche/tart, and other things. The only slight downer was the coffee, which was average (my partner is a keen coffee drinker). But with excellent food, good prices, and a range of tasty treats to take away (fine cheeses, olives, salamis, breads, baking and more), this is a definite thumbs-up.

I was glad to see that most of the negative reviews of this charming little place were penned a long time ago, and that most of the really positive ones were very recent or at least within the last few months. Why? Well obviously, I totally agree with them - this is a delightful place, with a very well stocked 'French' shop below and a charming bistro above. It certainly adds to the Anglo-French feeling in Sandwich, somewhere my wife and I will definitely revisit. For the high quality of the food the prices were fine and really not excessive at all. I loved the decor particularly - adds even more taste to the meal!Unreservedly recommend the experience.

I would have enjoyed an alcgnohol free beer but they didn't stock it - never mind you can't have everything! We will return.

A real treasure trove of French delicacies. Superb croissants and breads, large selection of quiches, incredible selection of cheeses probably more than 50, plus some beautiful hand made pottery. I have not visited anywhere so authentic this side of the channel, and as a bonus the staff are very friendly and helpful.

No Name Shop is the best place in Sandwich (and SE Kent) for real French food. And Le Bistro is the restaurant with the shop. Great baguettes, wonderful food and genuine French cheeses. Great place for lunch in Sandwich.

Dropped in for lunch. Service was excellent and the staff were very friendly despite being very busy. There was a large range of specials as well as an extensive menu. Great soup, bread and creme brulee. I would happily return to try some other items on the menu. Very happy I stopped there.

Busy and popular place but staff were efficient and friendly. Baguettes served with crisps and small salad and have tasty fillings. Coffee hot but too weak for us. Staff added extra shot which helped. Have had croque monsieur on previous visit and recommend this.

Popped into Sandwich for lunch and a visit, it is a beautiful village buzzing with life and a stunning number of pubs and eateries Le Bistro had smells of great cooking wafting over us as we passed - so we didn't and are we so happy we stayed.I love French cooking so imagine my delight when I found confit duck on the menu, it required some time to prepare but I was ready, the duck was melt in your mouth flavoursome heaven. Well done to the chef - sublime Tortilla was an unctuous fresh baked potato heaven topped with beautifully melted cheese and delightful salad.Glass of red wine and my favourite lady, a sublime experienceHighly recommended and a place run on passion for good food.PS downstairs is a deli to die for, bread, cheese hams - heavenI will be back

I first visited this restaurant during the July Folk Festival a couple of years ago and was glad to find it still there - down stairs is a delicatessenselling French wine, cheeses, bread, garlic, etc [and the most amazing selection of olives] and upstairs a bar and bistro overlooking the town square and Guildhall. The menu isn't very extensive but you should be able to find something to your taste - my wife and I had tortilla and salad, that's tortilla as in Spain rather than Mexico, ie a cheese and potato omellete, and one of our friends had a croquet monsieur she said was the best she ever had, and she lived in Paris for 5 years! For some reason the website format wouldn't let me enter the postcode, its CT13 9AJ.Do visit if you're in Sandwich - l'ambience est tres francais

No greeting. No advice whether it was waiter service or order at bar. No menu. Turns out that one of staff members was sat having her lunch in the customer area and was totally oblivious of us or was determined to ignore her customers.Other member of staff could not have been more helpful when she came to take our order.Food well presented. Had one of the platters and all ingredients were very tasty, esp the bread.

Felt it wasn't great value for money. Nice food but not overly impressed. The dessert is served with cheap spray cream

I had the lamb rump which was tough as old boots not given a steak knife had too ask for 1 even then couldn’t really eat the meat it was such poor quality and fatty. The gravy watery the bubble and squeak burnt and cold carrots and “buttered “ cabbage cold boiled cabbage avoid so so disappointing the whole meal was and definitely overpriced

Delicious coffee and vegan sausage roll and such a lovely and friendly manager, Mercy, who is obviously very passionate about what she does. Highly recommended!

A fabulous overnight stop in our campervan. We had a very warm welcome from Dylan who looked after us very well. The bar & restaurant was very busy however Dylan’s professionalism as a server made his job appear easy! Our food was served in a timely manner, piping hot and so delicious! The pastry on the vegetable tart was so tasty with added herbs. The gammon steak burger with an egg was very moreish. Now to the sticky toffee pudding with piping hot custard, a decent size portion, thank goodness we shared! Believe me when I say this is a lovely pub with scrumptious food, & fabulous service from Dylan
