Stopped by for a group meeting and due to time of day alot of town cafes were closing whereas Cinema cafe / bar was open. Conveniently placed and nice setting, this is a relaxed place for catching up with family or friends, or waiting to see a movie

Absolutely delicious Sunday roast, I went for the Sunday lunch and cult classic cinema offer £30 for 2 courses and the film at the Abbeygate. The dinner was wonderful, beef with yorkshire pudding, potatoes, cauliflower cheese, asparagus, tenderstem broccoli, red cabbage, roasted carrot & parsnip, fabulous thick gravy. Sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel and ice cream for pud. Really good value for money, quality and quantity. Staff very friendly and polite. Surprisingly the place wasn't very busy. I'll definitely be back!

Usually think this place is great but last week our burger bun was frozen solid! as we couldn’t really eat it the waitress apologised and offered us a dessert instead, but we’re charged for both when we got the bill. Also the men’s toilets were absolutely filthy 🤮 disappointing

Oh dear... where to begin. They were out of dry martini, so instead of making a dry martini and lemonade they brought an expresso martini as it was the closest thing they had. I'm no expert, but they are quite different. The menu is moderatly priced without the quality to back it up. The pasta I had was chewie (at best), the fish was flavourless and the extra chicken option we requested was ignored but still billed. All in all, there will be no return visit. Which is a shame, as the cinema is great so you'd think the reatraunt would be too.

The food here was really lovely. It was the best beef rib I’ve ever had! The staff were attentive and friendly For dinner, the ambience could have been better- maybe with little battery powered lamps on each table or some lamps around the room? Otherwise a fab little dinner spot!

Experienced the food 4 film...Pulp Fiction. This event was amazing. The food was fabulous and the courses tied into the movie beautifully. The adrenaline shot was inspired. A huge congratulation to Matt and his team. Looking forward to the next one. Get in quick I think these events are gonna fly...

Have you ever had a coq au rose that was so laden with cream and salt that a layer of oil floated on the surface? The combination of these factors made it inedible. Cream is not an ingredient of this dish, I have never seen a recipe for coq au Vin using cream, nor did it state it in the menu description. When I pointed this out to the waiting staff I was told the chef would be informed. No reduction in bill was applied so overall very disappointing.

Family brunch today was absolutely fabulous. Beautifully presented, huge portions freshly cooked to order. Best mocha I’ve had in years. Excellent service from the Abbeygate team. Couldn’t fault in any way. A gem.

Wonderful little restaurant, great food and attentive staff. I would highly recommend and will definitely be going back. The added bonus is the independent Abbeygate cinema within the building which I also highly recommend with it reclining seats and sofas 😊

It was a lovely place to have lunch. The atmosphere was nice , the staff were friendly and made u feel very welcome. The service was fast , not having to wait long for our order to arrive which was very good . It was off the main road but was a hidden gem , well worth finding . Would certainly visit again .

Had a baby shower upstairs here along with afternoon tea. It was amazing! Everyone commented how lovely the food was, particularly the rolls and lemon cake. The staff were so helpful and friendly. Such a brilliant venue to have for an event.

Returned today for a bite to eat after 18 months of not being able to come. The menu has been updated, its still one of our favourites. Highly recommended, the cuban rolls were packed full of delicious food. Thank you.

Lovely place, eaten here a number of times. Cakes are amazing and all made in house, which is a great USP... The carrot cake is best I've eaten for a very long time - highly recommend. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere.

Okay food. Brioche bun with the burger felt super greasey. Have to order chips/fries separately. It wasn't a bad night, the menu also had not a lot of it available when we last went so that was disappointing, but we were in good company.

Our first time eating here and it was a large group for the size of the establishment. The food was first class with the nicest steak I have had in a while, cooked perfectly (medium rare) and served with an attractive selection of vegetables. This was only eclipsed by the dessert. A home made ginger sponge served with ice cream and cream. The staff were friendly and very efficient. Add to this the ambience of the cosy surroundings of a boutique cinema. Excellent value for money and an wonderful setting for coffee and cake or a 3 course meal, with or without a movie .

Let down by tables not having been cleaned. Sticky residue does not add to the dinning experience! Run a damp cloth around the place, it's not hard! Sandwiches more bread than filling & clearly a Portobello mushroom here is not a Portobello mushroom! Lady sat next to us equally disappointed.

Went for breakfast. The picture in the window looked pretty good. When it arrived it was disappointing the fried eggs were really runny under cooked the sausages looked like road kill shriveled up and dry everything else was warm not hot Sent it back to kitchen. When it came back all they had done is kept the same eggs just turned them over and fried them a bit more until they were over cooked I can't comment on the coffee that I had ordered as it never arrived No wonder they take your money when you order Could not eat and left.

My daughter and I went for lunch. The meal was nice. A bit expensive but thats how much things are these days. The place has a butchers which although expensive the meat looked good
