No 16 is a welcoming, spotlessly clean cafe in Penwortham. The breakfast menu is extensive and great value. The eggs are always perfectly poached and the sausages are so tasty. Service is friendly and prompt and the Americano delicious. I can’t recommend this café enough for breakfast.

I cannot praise Sophie enough for the amazing service we received for Katie’s baby shower. There were 27 of us which took some organising but having the venue to ourselves and being allowed to decorate the venue early doors really helped. The afternoon tea was lovely and plentiful, we even got boxes to take the leftovers home. The service was fantastic and all dietary requirements were catered for.. Thanks Sophie for being so accommodating and making the day such a great success and special for our baby Mamma xxx

Arranged my friends baby shower at No 15 and we were able to have the café to ourselves. This made it really personal and I was able to arrive early to decorate. The afternoon tea was delicious and the service from Sophie was amazing. She made sure we all had everything we needed and went above and beyond to accommodate all our dietary requirements. Also, the coffee is always really good and I'm fussy about my coffee!

Unfortunately I booked a table for 4 people instead of 5 in error. However, the staff managed to sort this out quickly despite being clearly very busy. They were most accommodating with all our requests (of which there were many) and showed good humour and professionalism. The food, service and environment were 5 star plus, thank you

I ordered a tuna sandwich with chips £11.49 (not a typo the sandwich on its own is £8.99). I specifically asked about the type of bread as I didn’t want a small sandwich. My daughter ordered an expensive chip butty, my wife soup and a sandwich. When the food came my wife and daughter had sensible sized sandwiches which looked great. HOWEVER when mine came I thought i had been given a child’s sandwich by mistake. At £11.49 I expect to have an adults sized portion size. I sent it back and picked up a subway sandwich on the way home. If you’re charging big prices do the right thing and send out proper portion sizes.

Lovely gem of a place, cosy, friendly, the food was delicious and it was constantly busy which to me means its a great place. I would definitely recommend this cafe to everyone. They even have gluten free options too which was ideal for me. Plus gluten free cake to finish off a nice chicken & bacon salad. We will definitely be returning again soon for a bite to eat.

Visited this morning for breakfast with the family , the prices are on the higher side so would expect good produce and service . The cooked breakfast comes with pork and leek sausage which I would say are more of a supper sausage rather than breakfast sausage ,other than this the rest of the breakfast was good . What was most disappointing about the visit was at end the waitress left us with our bill which we paid for in cash and upon walking just out of the door to leave she shouted across the cafe at us (at this point most of the other diners looked up too) “ excuse me have you paid !” To which I replied yes we paid cash ! With no apology from her either !

My husband and I found this cafe on the way across the country and what a find! The staff are so friendly and helpful. The food is delicious, with the most tempting range of cakes. We had a light lunch that was perfect - a club sandwich and the homemade soup. Everything was quality produce, including the delicious granary bread. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and the room is cleanw with stylish decoration. I suffer from many allergies, which normally throws a kitchen into chaos. But the staff here were overly helpful and put me at ease that my food was allergen free. I had utter confidence and could fully enjoy my meal! We saw many young families here with kids, either in prams or seats. It looked like a lovely place for mums to chill or for friends to meet for a natter over a meal or drink! I fully recommend a visit to this understated cafe, A true gem!

I arrived at the cafe with my son at 1230 for a quick lunch we were quickly seated the place was fairly tables were very close to each other. The lovely Alison took out orders she was very pleasant very professionals and explained that the tart of the day was and have us the menu see picture . I ordered the creamy mushroom on sourdough bread and my son ordered the egg mayonnaise sandwich which arrived with some crisps and salad . The food arrived within 10 mins .. the place was immaculate clean cuttleries on the table there was however no salt . Salt was provided when we asked the waitress. The creamy mushroom served hot thr sour dough bread was toasted a little hard to cut with a knife the salad which accompanied the mushroom was lovely the dressing was sweet and really tasty. My son enjoyed his lovely sandwich which came with some crisps and salad we also had a side of sweet potato fries which was just warm ... for desert we chose the cakes we wanted which were displayed at the til we ordered the carrot cake a good portion was served and I had the bakewell tarte which was again very fresh not overly sweet. I really think what made the place so brilliant was not only its cosy and contemporary feel was a lot to do with not only the decor but also the friendliness of the waiting staff a big thank you to Alison who had a very friendly demeanour and the lady serving at the till I did not catch her name she had short black hair and there was a very pleasant young lady who was in and out if the kitchen always had a smile on her face and appear to enjoy her job . I visited the place for the first time was very impressed by the food cleanliness however it was a little pricey but worth every penny. Please see pictures for food . The bill for the two meals and cakes and a cappuccino and a cup of coffee came up to 29 pounds. The place was very busy and there was adequate staff two people in the kitchen and two serving one at the till which makes such a difference. I shall definitely return to sample other meals .

I've been here many times and always had a good experience; today was no exception. The café was full at lunchtime but a very kind member of staff managed to find us a table for four by swapping some of the reserved tables. Despite the busyness, our coffees and scones arrived quickly. However, there is normally a large selection of cakes, some unusual ones too but today we had a choice of about 3. We both opted for the giant scone which was fresh and delicious although a little short of cream and jam - twice as much was needed, as was some butter. The coffee was delicious!

Try the paninis , the bacon barms are outstanding and the ploughmans lunch is a treat (and a challenge!). Good value, fresh and home made and thoroughly recommended.

This place is within walking distance of home and tonight I went down to meet a friend who was coming on her way back from work. The owners have recently introduced this early evening tapas menu Thursdays-Saturdays. Previously, they had had tapas nights Fridays and Saturdays lasting all evening but this is a new idea where the last orders are taken at 7 pm.We paid £12.50 each for two dishes plus a side order. I had the fishcakes, garlic potatoes and beetroot and goats cheese tart. My friend chose the hummus, pulled pork spring rolls and she also went for the fishcakes. We were very pleasantly surprised at the portions which were quite large. In fact, the fishcakes or the hummus alone would have provided a very ample lunch. The two young waiters were a credit to the business!I would definitely be happy to return here another evening.

This is the second time we have had tapas here, the first was when they started. I would recommend No. 15, the food is very good, we had the early bird meal (two lots of tapas plus olives)...excellent!

Moved into the Penwortham area at Christmas and needed to find a few new lunch spots and check out the amenities. Having been quite a few times now I feel I can leave a well rounded review. Every visit is great. Service is fast and friendly, never have to wait ages for meals even if it's busy. Atmosphere lovely to wind down and sit and natter. The breakfast is lovely, so good I even went to the butchers they supply their sausages from (at my partners request) Had quite a few of the lunches and paninis and they're all great too, would recommend the Cesar salad especially. Nice portions well made and top quality. Also been for tapas, I thought it was a little on the pricey side but the portions were great and the dishes really well thought out and super tasty. Desert was heavenCakes all home made and tempting. Overall absolutely well worth a visit.

Came for an end of term treat with my daughter. Got to say it was a relief to come in and escape the heat outside. Nice and cold with the air con on, really pleasant! I had a pot of tea, we shared a slice of 'zebra' cake and daughter had a pink lemonade. Service was quick and pleasant. The only suggestion i'd make especially having visited more than once with my daughter is it would be good to see just a couple of child friendly drinks on the menu. Last visit she had an adults hot chocolate, would be great to see a kids size. Also with it being a hot day and her wanting something cold, some nice milkshakes would be a great addition!

I was recently recommended NO 15 Cafe by a friend who visits regularly. What a lovely place this is.I had lunch with my boyfriend - it was delicious. Followed by cake and coffee, both gorgeous.I am a keen baker and recognised these were homebaked cakes. I kindly received the recipe for the Lemon Polenta cake to make at home. The menu was perfect for lunch and the atmosphere and surroundings are fabulous. The staff were helpful and friendly. What a find. I have booked for Tapas on a Friday evening. So good to see something so popular out of town.

I've always love it here during the day for a light lunch or coffee and cake, but by chance ended up here for tapas on Saturday evening. My mum and I were so impressed with the choice and quality of food! Fab menu - so much choice! The food is all cooked to order and is presented beautifully. All of the dishes were so tasty - I'd especially recommend the monkfish kebab!!! Already planning my next visit!!

Booked an evening here for my wife and myself after she recently visited on a works outing and has been raving ever since. We often visit for a coffee and cake during the day so I knew to expect a warm and informal atmosphere but after reading Boothy1235's review I was a bit concerned it might not live up to expectations. I can honestly say it does, and how Mr Boothy can rate the Fleece Inn and Moka above No15 is beyond me!!The food was fantastic. I have a good appetite(greedy) and ordered 4 dishes. Couldn't finish the last one, which was a shame as it was the Halloumi dish. The spring rolls were superb as was the chorizo and mushroom in a sherry sauce - definitely one to try and replicate. We had 8 dishes and could not fault any of them. For tapas they were really good portions. The only criticism was the time between dishes but after talking to friends from Valencia that is the way traditional Tapas should be served.I liked the way they don't pack the place out at night. The staff are very friendly and you need to remember it's a café, not fine dining. A larger wine selection would be nice too but I can recommend No15 100%. and btw, The Fleece is sadly appalling and Moka not worth a trip around Preston's inspired one way system!!

My Mum and I went on Saturday 18th March for my Mum's birthday. It was a great meal and a great ending to my Mum's birthday. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and really made my Mum feel special on her birthday. The service was excellent and the food was extremely good. I had king prawns and they were the nicest prawns I have ever tasted in a restaurant. I lived in Manchester city centre for years and also in London so I have been to a lot of restaurants over the years. The food I had on Saturday was as good if not better than the best I have had.A massive thanks to all the staff who made my Mum's birthday meal really special for her.

Myself and 12 friends went to this little tapas restaurant and had a great evening. The food was amazing- lots of different dishes to try and there was plenty of it. The presentation was great and the service was faultless. Thanks Hannah(our waitress) for putting up with 13 women - busy talking- trying to decide what dishes to order. Very patient! The food was tasty and very reasonably priced. We will definitely be coming back for another night out soon!

I had a friend visiting and for once, I couldn't be bothered cooking for her and suggested we came here for lunch instead. We shared a vegetarian platter, consisting of hummous, piccalilli, various cheeses, olives etc, to be eaten with a variety of crackers and breads. I can thoroughly recommend our choice to others. It can get very busy here and we were lucky to choose a gap between those coming for coffee in the morning and the main lunchtime rush. Certainly, it was very busy as we left.Penwortham has a few different coffee shops etc these days but this one is probably the most appropriate for "Ladies Who Lunch". A very pleasant experience.

Called in for afternoon coffee and cake shown straight to the table what we ordered was served very quickly by nice friendly staff especially a young man/lad I would like to say young boy but that is showing my age. The cake and scone was delicious my only complaint was I would like to have eaten the whole cake but that might have been greedy and calorie loaded will be back again very soon. ( for the rest of the cake,)

I was taken by my wife for a Friday night, the place is nice and the staff attentive but the food is both very disappointing and over priced. It is tapas so the portions are to be expected on the smaller side, but let's run through the food we selected. The chilli beef was nice but the dish was mainly onions and peppers, lamb kofta was tasty and the best thing we had. Now let's talk about the gambas pil pil; if you had grabbed a few prawns from a bag you bought from Iceland and put them in some watery sauce and added a couple of chopped chillies, it would have been better than this dish. The "special" was described as piri piri surf and turf, prime steak and king prawns, actually it was one kebab skewer with three pieces of beef, bit of onion and two prawns (£7.95). The garlic bread appeared to be the chopped up ends of some left over ciabatta left a bit too long in the oven. Upon complaint we did get the prawns knocked off the bill. I am sure that ladies who lunch and first dates will accept this due to the Macmillans name and alleged kudos, but if you are normal and want a reasonable night out, steer clear of this overrated and expensive folly.

Called in today with a friend for coffee and cake and have never been made to feel so uncomfortable. The waitress was reluctant to allow us a table and not sure why as there were 3 empty tables when we arrived. Twice we were asked if we wanted to order more drinks!! In other words vacate the table. For goodness sake its a coffee shop not a Michelin starred restaurant! Needless to say we wont be returning.

From the moment you walk in until the moment you leave, the staff are friendly, polite and attentive. The food is great - for breakfast we had breakfast buns and coffee - the food was piping hot, the coffees too and very tasty. There is a very pleasant atmosphere inside and the whole place is spotlessly clean. Can't complain at just under £20 for two large breakfast barmcakes and two coffees. We will return soon.

My mum and I visited The Hunters Pub earlier today in Lostock Hall, and I can genuinely say it was one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in years. The food was absolutely delicious and clearly prepared with care. The staff were outstanding; they went above and beyond to make my birthday special and nothing was too much trouble. The friendly and attentive service truly added to our experience. I highly recommend The Hunters Pub to anyone looking for great food and warm hospitality. We’ll certainly be back and will be recommending it to all our friends and family!

I can not thank The Yew Tree enough for a fabulous evening. All the staff are so accommodating, and service with a smile goes a long way. My visit was a Birthday party for 15 family members, all the meals arrived on time and were all very good quality. The chef needs a good pat on the back for this. Not one person had a complaint. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I will be a returning customer.

Not gonna lie, it's not cheap here. But the menu is on the window, you know what to expect if you visit here price wise. My meal was £16.65 for a breakfast and a cup of tea. It was a large full English though, and the tea came in a pot, so it was enough for 2 cups. The quality of the food was exceptional. My only slight niggle was the beans were runny, not thick (you know when you always try to buy Heinz or Branston rather than own brand beans from the supermarket, you can tell the difference). But the sausages, black pudding, eggs, mushrooms were all high quality and cooked very well. Service was great, prompt and attentive and the food was cooked and served quickly. I was an early bird and first in at 0945 but by 10am it was already busy and to guarantee a table you should book in advance. Definitely would recommend trying here. If I was rich, I'd have breakfast here everyday.
