Nishan Tandoori in Havering

Have been using Nishan for over 20 years. Recently ordered two mains and rice and couple of sides. It can only assume it’s change hands. Only one main and rice turned up. ( arrived 20 mins earlier than expect 👍🏻 ) . Upon ring they apologised and will send the other main and rice. When it arrive ( think delivered by the owner) knock on our door with no food in this hand and said I put the food in the bag. I said are you accusing me of lying and invited him him to check the items delivered, he refused. He then went and got the food from his car.. I advised the gentleman that sadly we would no longer is the restaurant. In both orders the rice was not pilau and only warm. During the next day all of felt sick.

It's been 4 weeks, new management, new chef. I think their food quality and usage is very good. I am impressed with their new chef's food. Everyone in my family loved it. The new management seems to be serving very good quality food.

What on earth is wrong with you guys. Food was disghsting. Biryani was bland. The gravy used for the curry was very old. Every thing tasted sweet. How can you charge so much. I do not recommend this resturant. Fire your chef! Also what is going on with your customer service i just read the other reviews. You guys are crooks. Also who put puts green peas in a biryani? The biryani was cooked with cheap rice. Nasty nasty nasty. I want my money back.

Ordered over the phone on the recommendation of a family member (i should have stayed loyal to my local) Customer service is rude, appalling and disgraceful. Items missing from the order, got my order home and telephoned them. The person on the end of the phone said it was their fault, one item was taken down by them but not actually put through and another item was paid for in a set meal deal and was missing - their response - they would deliver it but how do we wish to pay for it as it would have to come out of their wages!!! Seriously - so they admit their mistake and then ask us to pay for the meal deal item again. Great customer service. 2 customers lost as both of us will be going back to the local who at least apologise and try to rectify the issue. Shame: my mains was one of the nicest ive had but wife ended up with no dinner, no side dish and i had to encounter the attitude of the staff member.

Called up one hour passed the ETA and was told the food was on the way. Called up after another hour (22:00 - 2 hours past the ETA and 3 hours after I ordered), and was told the food isn’t coming, sorry. No explanation, nothing. They even said they can’t refund me until tomorrow. Absolutely shocking. I’ve ordered from them many times in the past and they’ve always been late. Never again.

We had prawn curry and there was hardly a prawn in the dish. Sorry to say it’s not quite as good as was so it’s a disappointment to write this review

I like hot curry and have not been disappointed. Very good choice of dishes and lovely breads. Excellent overall and I would recommend Nishan. I have only had food delivered, don’t think that its a sit in restaurent

The best Indian takeaway/curry I have ever eaten, you can tell it’s all cooked fresh and not batched cooked like a lot of other Indian takeaways, the flavour and spices are incredible and again not bland at all like other Indian restaurants, the nann bread is amazing, again very fresh and good flavour and doesn’t taste doughy and yeasty like others I have had before, just everything on a whole is amazing from the curries to the rices to the popadoms, and the onion bhajis are the best I have had, a little oily but that’s to be expected but they way they make there’s are unlike any I have had before, delivery driver is super friendly, just be prepared to wait a little longer than other takeaways as they are very popular but it’s worth it !! If I could give 10 stars I would. Also really good prices for the quality and amount you get.

MY ORDER TURNED UP LATE IT WAS LUKEWARM HALF OF MY ORDER WAS MISSING I PHONED TO EXPLAIN TO BE TOLD WE DONT HAVE ENOUGH DRIVERS TO SEND SO HE SAID WE WILL REFUND HALF OF WHAT U PAID AND I HAVE RECEIVED NOTHING BACK FROM THEM

We only ordered breads poppadoms and a sag aloo but was very tasty and complimented what we already made at home will use again

Cold food, part of order missing, not at all tasty. Ended up in the bin. Awful.

Lovely food and I have ordered here many times and very reasonably priced it’s been consistent and I always recommend them

I've picked up a takeaway from here 3 times and the food is fantastic. The saag also is beautiful.

Just order tandoori naan, and they came freshly made and perfect

Food is good, when it arrives. However food was over half hour late and waited over two hours for it to be delivered. Appreciate they are busy - but not worth the wait.

I ordered pasnada and biryani. I really disappointed they put green peas in biryani and the rice taste wasn’t biryani taste. And pasanda was so sweet like u eating sugar with naan I don’t know how they get recipes for making that food .I just waste my money . Won’t recommend anyone....

Am giving 3 stars only because although the food was delicious, piping hot and lots of it, the wait was very long to be delivered (1 1/2 hours). I understand that it must be extremely difficult to prepare loads of fresh food at the same time when you've got masses of orders, but I was getting tetchy by the end. Hence the b*llocking I gave over the phone, and for which I sincerely apologise! Must say the restaurant was very contrite, and as I say, the food was delicious. I had the chicken dansak and coconut rice, the rest of the order included prawn biriyani, naan bread, chicken tikka if I remember correctly, and other things. Daal and saag aloo and chutneys and poppadoms came free with the order. Great food.

The food in the nishan was very good!,the only negative was the drab look of the place! Looks dirty an old curtain that opens into the kitchen looks horrid!,they should give the appearance of the place a complete makover

I have been using “The Nishan” since about 1995 when I was a Taxi driver for PM cars by Emerson Park station. I’ve always loved it and enjoyed the food. I went to collect our order (Saturday Night) as I know they are very busy, got in the shop and waited at the counter. I had a brief chat with another guy doing likewise. He was served and the guy on the counter acknowledged me and said my food wouldn’t be long. He knows who I am anyway. Whilst waiting at the counter a clear view can be seen pretty much straight down the kitchen where the guys are feverishly cooking. There are about 4 of them. One of the guys opened an oven of some kind, to the left of the doorway I was looking through. A tray which I thought at the time (and now know to be Bombay Potatoes) was half out of the oven. One of the chefs was ladling the potatoes from the tray/oven on the left of the kitchen to the Wok/Pan on the hob to the right. Some was dropped on the floor. Here’s where is gets sinister. The guy then (with his hands and the ladle/spatula) scoops up the Potatoes and drops them straight into the pan. I was speechless. I then asked if the pan of Bombay potatoes was in fact MY pan of Bombay potatoes. I was told that yes, it was, the guy thinking that I was concerned at the delay. I am a little ashamed to admit that I did at this point have a sense of humour bi-pass. I cancelled my order, threw a few F’s about and left. This is disgusting. It’s a floor! People are walking on it with their shoes! The food we buy from here we put into the mouths of our children! I will never order from here again. It’s not that I haven’t got my way or some other slight. I have been a patron for decades and won’t deny I have always been happy and looked after. Very very disappointing, I have been badly let down as possibly has anyone else who orders from here if these practices are standard. I will be reporting this to Environmental Health on Monday morning.

I’ve ordered online and they accepted the order even though the restaurant was not open yet. I called them several times they didn’t bother to pick up the phone. I contacted with Just Eat. They’ve talked to the restaurant and cancelled the order. I waited around 2 hours for the delivery. I would recommend not to order online from this restaurant.

Always order from here as it’s my local Indian and the food is always amazing and it’s very cheap but good quality!!

The Nishan Tandoori is the nearest Indian takeaway to where my daughter lives, and when we visit her we often buy a take away from here. The food is consistently very very good. I was surprised to see other reviews that said otherwise as we have not been disappointed with a single dish. Maybe collecting your order is the key. There are lots of very good Asian food outlets in Hornchurch, but none of them have as high a hygiene rating and none are as close to where my daughter lives, :-) Order, collect, enjoy.

I was a little disappointed i have ordered take away from here before the old owners left. My onion barji was really greasy, and my bombay potato and chana masala had water in the sauce it was oil. My pershawari nan bread didn't taste like pashawari nan

This is the second time we have ordered from and I have found the food very good. In my option this is one of the better takeaways in the area and I hope they keep it up

I received a leaflet through the door from the above stating they had a new chef and to try it. So I did.. not impressed at all ... there was nothing that gave the wow factor, in fact it wasn’t Enjoyable at all.

I would only say one thing about Nishan, excellent! Superb quality tasty meals. The manager personally delivered a menus when they moved, as we always used Paprika before they moved premises . Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Decided to try recently after not being happy with our regular takeaway.I was not disappointed,the food is so fresh and tasty and arrives hot with complimentary popadoms and sauces and also at the time of writing a free vegetable side on orders over £15.Have tried a lot of Indian takeaways in Upminster and Hornchurch and this is up there with the best many thanks Nishan tandoori Eddie.

Absolutely disgusting service. Manager has NO customer services and is extremely rude. The first time we tried this Indian they delivered our food to the wrong address and it took us going into the shop, the manager making us follow himself and the delivery driver to the wrong address for them to believe us..they never gave us a discount or a token of good will for the messing about that they caused. Tried again this week only because of the cheap deal. It was over 30 mins late so we rung up,the man was very dismissive on the phone, after another 20 mins when I called again he agreed a discount. After 1 hour and 45 mins the take away came -delivered by the manager. We asked for the discount that had been agreed and he refused and then walked away with our food back to his car, so we never even got our food. He shouted at us and was very rude about his own staff member who had agreed the discount. I am not one to make reviews but NEVER go here. It’s worth paying a few extra pounds and giving your money to a service that deserves it.

I ate from here on Valentine's day. The Cauliflour Bajhi was cooked dry with no moisture, disgusting. Then to add to this I was eating King Prawn Curry and had to pull a 10 inch black hair from my mouth... Unnaceptable kitchen cooking standards. This is my third time eating from her and first two experiences were fine, but this time disgusting.

We have been using this takeaway for years, when it used to be Paprika in Ardleigh Green Road. Never had a bad meal, always arrives hot. Try the £10 meal for one. It's great value for money and delicious! All our friends comment that it's the best tasting Indian they've had.

My food here was tasteless and not very hot when served. I had lamb curry, mushroom rice, naan, sag also, onion bhaji. There was lots of it but I didn't want to eat it because it was so tasteless. Bhajis were soggy, not crispy at all, and pudding-like in the middle.

I'm really fussy about takeaways and rarely have them but recently tried the Nishan Tandoori in Hornchurch. I'm delighted to say that the food my husband and I had seemed freshly cooked, generous portions and absolutely delicious, We will definitely be ordering more take-always from Nishan Tandoori in the future,

Having had a poor meal previously I was heartened when the owner contacted me suggesting I try it once more. Nice to know some owners really care about their customers. I ordered a meal of mixed dishes and have to say the food was excellent and in total contrast to the previous meal. Sauces were fresh tasting with no oil, meat tender and plentiful and sides just as good. Pleased to say I would happily recommend the Nishan based on my last experience. Excellent value for money and caring owners.

Had a takeaway for first time last week.onion bag v.g.,Lamb tikka dhansak v.g,Lamb ceylon poor,tarka dall side dish good dall samba side dish v.g.pilao rice lumpy{if an indian restaurant can't make decent pilao rice there in trouble}All in all good and bad but the spicing was decent and if they just sharpen up a bit could be a decent takeaway.Still the best two take aways are 1] tasty bites,corbets tey 2]upminster tandoori st. marys lane both in upminster

Pasar una noche con un curry?. Este tiene que ser el lugar, probar un Nishan pompadom especial, cebolla, arroz, principal bhagee, vegetales y un pan, Nan por sólo £10.00 este tiene que ser el mejor relación calidad-precio en el REINO UNIDO, no es broma el Reino Unido. La comida es siempre muy bien cocinado y caliente. El personal es muy amable y el tiempo de espera es generalmente de 30 minutos para la colección, aunque puede estar muy concurrido en la noche del sábado.

Debería haber conocido mejor, obtienes lo que pagas! Precios muy muy barato, pero la comida es muy muy pobre. Pollo cocinado doble, difícil parece aún y camas en un cã salsa muy grasosa sea cual sea el plato. Arroz duro, lados de nuevo grasiento. Si este era el típico de la comida india, nunca volveré a comer de nuevo. Estoy perdido de palabras en describir este era lo malo.

We used to use Nishan all the time, usually I go out my way to pick it up as I live in Rainham out of their delivery zone. This time we was at my parents so arranged for it to be delivered. we ordered at 7.15pm and it didn't arrive until 9.30pm. Not only did it take 2hours 15mins to arrive they got the order wrong. I requested a change of curry in the notes section as the chiefs specials are not in the drop down options on the Nishan special. Also they forgot the dips that are ment to come with the popodoms.

Forgot our poppadom sauces. Food and delivery not as good as before. Blame the Saturday peak time order. Would still order again

Food hadn't arrived after 15 minutes of their eta and I spent another 20 minutes trying to call but to no avail. Turns out they weren't picking up calls at all. In the end we had to physically visit them to complain but they did give a goodwill gesture by giving our order for free. This still didn't make up for it as the quality of the food was bad, maybe due to being rushed and pressured to cook it for us quickly. I think on a quieter night they would get it spot on but if they can't take the heat in the kitchen then they should stop taking online orders.

3 HOURS TO DELIVER FOOD!!! They don't answer their phones when you try to find out what's happened to your order. Foods nice though.
