When traveling, we always like to try independently owned bars that specialise in beer, and we found this one via a Google search. A busy bar, which is always great to see, we joined the queue at the bar and waited and waited while the male behind the bar continued having a chat, all the while knowing we were waiting and making no effort to acknowledge us. I found his manner to be totally rude and obnoxious. We were all set for a night there, but due to him, we left after one. Looking over previous reviews over the years, nothing has changed!

Craft beer in a pleasant atmosphere

A craft beer lover's perfect drinking hole. Regularly rotating selection of delicious beers, with DIPAs, NEIPAs, sours, stouts to choose from, and that's before you start on the packed fridge of delights! Always a good mix of local and further afield, and owners who really know their stuff about both the beers and the fantastic selection of gins they also specialise in (although the landlord might tell you that their best gin is a rum! (the rum is bloody good though)). Tucked away on one of Taunton's independent areas, it's absolutely one of the best places in Taunton.

Visited on a Saturday, late afternoon. Quite a big group (9) of us. Immediately welcomed and offered a great selection of interest beers. The knowledge of the guy behind the bar was outstanding and definitely improved our experience. If you want something beyond traditional lager/beer this place is for you. Highly recommended and can't wait to return

They have a narrow selection of expensive keg beers that the owner will try to convince you are the real deal. In fact they are nothing of the sort; just gassy keg beers served by clueless staff.

Great tucked away venue with some fantastic keg beers, always welcoming. Check the times before you plan a visit as not open every day. Would recommend (and they don’t do food, so I think some of the reviews have mixed it up with another place!).

A gem in Taunton. Really lovely atmosphere and a selection of beer that easily rivals Bristol and London. An awesome place that a beer enthusiast will quickly get lost in.

Brilliant gin and beer place in the riverside location.

Four adults, two older kids. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, starters and mains. Everything was cooked to perfection and very tasty. The restaurant was sparkly clean, the tables set our beautifully, and the atmosphere was calm. The staff were attentive and friendly. We will definitely visit again. Thank you to all the team.

A great place to catch up with friends over a craft gin or beer! We always enjoy Ninkasi, you can hold a conversation as the music is never loud or intrusive. It also has an interesting selection of gins and beers to try.

I went in on their 1st Birthday. They had a guest brewer in and a half dozen of his beers on tap. Wonderfully welcoming, cheery place full of beer lovers. Will be back.

Brilliant little bar in the cultural quarter of Taunton, offers something completely different to the mainstream bars. The London Black was delicious and beats Guinness hands down!

Been in twice with my wife - A dreadful service from the unfriendly owner ! Too busy playing on his phone to bother with eye contact !!! This is a doomed business.

Hi have given this place the benefit of the doubt 3 times now. Never again. The staff are patronising and condescending. Top tip. Go to The pursuit of Hoppiness to see how it's done properly. Tasters, pleasant, friendly and knowledgeable staff who make you feel welcome. No barricades and control mechanism, with an anyone welcome feeling!!

Cosy little meeting place with ever changing craft beers and a good selection of spirits.

A fantastic range of craft beers! Really enjoyed the Verdant, Pollys and Azvex beers. Looking forward to the Polly's tap takeover on Friday 4th August!

We asked a genuine question if they sold any vodka, and the barman said rudely “perkin is that way”. As a new bar in town, that is not the way to respond. All he had to to was recommend a nice drink. I will not be returning - a real shame.

My favourite place in Taunton! The selection of craft beer at the reasonable price they charge, can't be beat. 5/5! Make it your stop in Taunton if you like places you can talk and have a quiet pint.

A very different venue I liked the beer choice was good supplied by small independent beer makers the music was good it took me back to my youth I can recommend Ninkasi to anybody looking for a very different night out.

First visit - won't be my last. A unique oasis in Taunton, with a great and eclectic range of beer, gin and cider. Update: I have been back a number of times and it is still as good!

Absolutely amazing bar with phenomenal beers and a good service behind it. The bar is quirky, nicely decorated, has a games chest and pulls in a friendly and welcoming crowd. Look forward to it going from strength to strength!!!

This bar is dedicated to serving a good selection of craft ales and they have about 10 different ones on tap - they serve them in 3 glass sizes 1/3 pint, 1/2 pint and full pint. I tried a 'break me into larger pieces' beer which was very good. The owner seems to know a lot about these beers.

this looks ideal for taunton - well located in the riverside 'independent quarter' and the focus is on quality kegs of craft beer - 1000x better than your typical pub where people are just interested in drinking pint after pint of commercial lager - all 10 kegs can be purchased in 1/3, 1/2 or full pints
