Nick's Fish & Chips in Slough

I’ve been coming here since 2015 with my friends and colleagues and we’ve always had the best experience! This time on Saturday had the most disgusting service by these young boys and the manager Anthony was useless ! I told them to split the chips so mum can have without salt and vinegar ! They barely gave any chips the bag was as light as a feather ! I’ve taken pics ! Disgusting service scammed me and laughed at me when I left ! Other customers came out and told me they were notified at them and saw they barely gave any chips ! I will report this place to trading standard and will never come to such a pathetic place where they are scamming us. Me took my money but barely gave me chips ! Shame on you all

It's a take-away only operation. Excellent freshly cooked haddock cooked by special request without using rice cones.Their scampi is also excellent.

We used the ordered via the Nick's app and got a discount which was great but the 1/2 lbs burger came with just a bun and 2 burgers so no sauce, no lettuce and novtomato which was disappointing as you also have to pay a £3.41 tip when they could not get our burger right! As we did a pick up the food via the app our meal was already bagged which is ideal in a way as long as they have a quality control person checking the order. I would order again as it was an efficient service as there was no waiting. Thank you

Fantastic large Cod, crunchy batter, cod cooked fresh to order, excellent quick service, ordered on the app & collected 10 mins, will always go to Nicks.

I always enjoy and Nicks Chippy dinner.. Love the Cod and chips and sometimes the seafood basket. Sometimes and I mean only sometimes the portion shrinks once in a while than what I am usually used to.

Had some chips on Saturday. Hadnt visited this place for years but really impressed with the chips . Thought the portion was bit small but one of the staff duly obliged with a little bit more. Tasted great . Watch out for the parking as it is bit confusing and no 30 minute grace period. Will be back for more

After living abroad for two years my returning UK fish and chips needed to be a good one and Nicks did not disappoint. Between my friends and I we had a decent selection and all went down a great. Will visit again.

I'm rarely in the Langley area nowadays but each time I am I come to Nick's. Today, no haddock (real supply issues) but a special of Hake and Chips for £5.95. A good sized portion of the best battered fish I've had in ages, excellent chips freshly made, and as good a side of mushy peas as I've had down south. Add in impossibly friendly service from longstanding staff who are pleased to see you, and how could I resist? I'm normally in Plymouth with numerous superb chippies, but Nick's is just special.

Nicks is a neighbourhood favourite. We’ve been going for over 10 years and don’t get our fish & chips from anywhere else …I’d rather have fish & chips from Nicks than by the British coast. Lovely fresh food. We make some customisations to our order and are always well taken care of. Some fish quality issues recently but I’m sure this is due to covid and supply issues. Lovely team who are open to feedback. Will always get my vote.

Fab Fish & chips -saved the day ! On a nightmare journey after breaking down we ventured out for food and couldn’t have made a better choice ! Lovely staff , fresh hot food and good value for money . Would definitely recommend and I’d we’re ever in the area again would come back for more .

I ordered large chips and a can of coke....£4.50 has been taken from my account. WHY? The chips are £2.90 and can is 0.95. I will be calling them and following this up. I can see other people have had similar experiences.

I drive from Richings Park to get my fish and chips from here. Chips excellent. Cod, lovely and flaky and seasoned with the right amount of salt and vinegar. Keep up the good work, guys. You slipped earlier but back to your best now.

We love this fish and chips shop, hands down the best fish and chips in the area. The quality is always good, but after the last few visits really disappointed at the portions of the chips. This picture shows the small portion we received on our last visit, it used to be enough to share, now barely enough for one and the price has stayed the same. Really disappointed as we have been visiting this shop since we have lived in the area.

Good quality fish and chips, good size portions, not the cheapest meal in a bag, you could eat in a restaurant for the price of one portion of Fish&Chips but worth it.

I've been going to Nick's pretty much every week for the last 10 years and I can say I have never been disappointed. I would even go as far as to say this one of the best chippies I have ever been to. The fish is always completely fresh (not the frozen skinless triangles of flavourless rubbish they serve up everywhere else in Slough) and the chips are always cooked to perfection. It's great to see a chippie getting it right! On a Friday evening you can expect to queue ... and this is for good reason ... because they are brilliant at what they do. Saying that though the work at amazing speed to get everything dished up and I've never had to wait much more than 5 minutes. If you want proper fish and chips in Slough and you are willing to pay just a bit extra, there really is no competition.

cant understand the prices had cod and chips and then a bag of chips charged £9.60 but cod is £4.60 and chips are £1.90 per bag , so £8.40 in my book . im from leicestershire so perhaps different prices for people passing tough , could not go in to see the prices has till in the door way due to lockdown , so just checked the prices no back home

The best fish and chips in the area. We always get the fish box with all the different bites inside. It's so yummy it's our friday treat every week.

Went to Nicks for dinner tonight. Received something different to what I asked for, less than what I paid for. Important point; this isn’t a reflection of the experience we normally get here. Been a loyal customer for many years.The backlash received and failure to rectify really made me ask whether I’ll return. I asked once for the order to be corrected and when it returned it was still wrong. I asked why ingredients were missing, if out of stock or no longer part of the item sold, to approach the issue sensitively and was accused of requesting this, which I never do. I was accused of lying and told that I was wrong, rather than rectify the mistake. Given that I had paid this should have been a simple apology and put down to human error whilst corrected. That would have been fine. Instead the server was rude and argumentative to me, so rather than ask again I left the establishment immediately to get away from the shop because I no longer trusted the food to come back right. To the owner; please learn from this. Don’t assume people paid extra for cheese only to give them a dried up burger in a dry roll void of sauce, voice of cheese, void of salad. If someone wants something plain they ask for plain. They don’t order and pay for cheese to receive none. If in doubt then ask. I was really looking forward to eating my burger and was really disappointed. Waste of money.

Good fresh fish perfectly cooked. There is no place better locally. Just go there. Until recently the idea of fish and chips was one that filled me with very little enthusiasm. Since trying Nicks I am converted.

this is the best dish and chip shop in the area however I do not eat there myself but buy items for others from there.I don't eat there as I'm a vegetarian and the oils are mixed so not suitable. it would be good if the chop shop had a separate fryer for chips

I adored the food, the pie was piping warm and everything..ugh it was just great but i only have one compliant. The most important part of the order is the drink. I was not happy to receive an ICE COLD DRINK! I've never ever had a cold drink and i'm not starting now! I ask the old man if i could have it warm and he replied yes then i saw him take it out of the fridge. This is poor customer service and i won't be returning to an establishment that serves cold drink!

Visited on Saturday afternoon 13/10/18 Ordered 2 lunch time specials and got home to find this. Fish Full of oil with the batter breaking, girl preparing surely don’t know what’s she’s doing.... disgusting and I only eat the chips. Usually I love this place

Decent fish and chip shop, nothing extraordinary to be honest. However they are quiet reasonably priced for lunch time offers. Wouldn’t go out of my way just to come here though otherwise.

Great lunch time deal £3.99 for Cod and Chips is terrific. Friendly staff and large portions. Best fish and chips I have ever had would highly recommend!

Very clean and smart very busy but staffed accordingly. occasionally a big order can cause a queue. However I only like haddock so I expect to wait Haddock perfectly cooked chips perfect. generous portion size. excellent value for money and lunch time pensioners can get chips with their fish for free. very pleasant staff serving as fast as possible as usually very busy -shows everybody knows a good fish and chip shop.

Solo me dan mis patatas fritas y patatas fritas aquí: tarta, bacalao y patatas fritas. Hay otros, pero las patatas fritas me en perfecto - Golden crujientes y suaves fuera Nick's dentro. Nunca he tenido una mala porción degustación de patatas desde aquí como siempre recién hecha. También la porción de patatas fritas siempre es 'justo'.

The lunch time special is excellent value, fresh cooked cod with good portion of chips, served piping hot with a smile, all for £3.99. Definitely will have again.

I had fish and chips at Nick while on visit to Slough. Quantity of chips is huge, more than enough for one person. Fish is tasty. Price is reasonable. Recommend.

Ordered the £3.99 fish and chips deal. The fish had already been cooked and waiting in the display. The fish and chips were greasy and the chips had no crispness to it. Worse fish and chips in Slough.

Excellent fish and chips at a very reasonable price, we ordered a large piece of fish and the small chips and that was heaps for the 2 of us.

Regular visitor here. Great fish and chips. Highly recommend this place. Reasonably priced and friendly staff.

My local go to Fish n Chip shop, been here many times, always fresh and decent portions, sometimes have to wait awhile but it no big deal.

Excellent value with a 5 star hygiene rating. The best chippie in the whole of Slough. Customers queueing outside the door most days.

3 teenagers serving, only me in the shop. Ask for extra wrapping as I like a lot of vinegar and the bag splits at bottom. Was offered a paper bag & was told by the man frying that the bags are very expensive! Absolutely awful service. Won't be going back there ever. The portion size was that of a child. I would recommend that you go to Trewlauny Avenue instead. The staff there are very friendly & kind unlike the staff at Nicks fish & chips.

Really lovely fish and chips from here. Massive serves of chips and a beautiful big fat piece of fish - not greasy. Would recommend.

I have come here weekly for 5 years. The staff are friendly, know that I order haddock (cooked to order), so that fish is often in the fryer before I have completed my order. Absolutely excellent batter, fish is always fresh and tasty and of excellent size, chips are more than ample and good (prepared in house) and the mushy peas like in the north. Highly recommended. Friday is always busy, but waiting 5 minutes is hardly a trial. Excellent all round.

Many, many times I've eaten from Nick's. And many times I will continue to do so. Hot, fresh and generous portions. The only thing missing is the food being wrapped in newspaper, but since that's a legal issue, the restaurant can't be held responsible. A Chippy as it should be!

Very fresh fish with very crispy batter, but my favourite thing is the spam fritter, I have get to taste a better one in any fish and chip shop!

Fish & Mushy peas always piping hot and tastes divine service great , I just sit in the park opposite and eat them as i cant wait till I get home :)

Is a good price for fish and chips. Would happy go here again. doesn't always have enough staff for the rush hour so you could be waiting a while for food. Could be better but the fish is worth it

My girls 3 & 5 yrs olds are crazy about this fish and chips ... everytime we visit high street it's a custom of our house to eat here. I can never say No .. Good quantity and always fresh food. No sit in , only take aways. special prices for lunch hours.

For fish on Friday its a decent place to go, don't mind waiting to get freshly cooked fish, always friendly staff

I used to go to another fish and chip shop but they changed ownership and the standards then dropped so had to find an alternative. Tried a few different ones and Nicks topped it off. Great quality traditional fish and chips. I would have given it five stars but the only thing each time I go the staff never smile and come across like they don't want to be there.

Awesome fish and chips joint in Slough. It was a long queue but worth the wait for the fresh off the pan fish and chips.

I don't like leaving bad reviews but sometimes it is justified. Ordered beef and onion pie and chips and the guy said that the pies were just coming out of oven so be careful as very hot. Outside seemed hot but the inside was ice cold. Disgusting. Also very disappointed in the chips. Only less than half were edible and the rest were mangly bitty little pieces that were just not fit for consumption. Maybe they are trying to save money but a proper chippy would never serve those little pieces of chips that are just per cooked morsels. Really disappointed with this place but because of the location (right next to a busy college) they probably don't care as they will always have passing trade. Really gutted as Thi place is around the corner from me but I wouldn't serve their food to my dog

On my last night in the UK, I wanted some fish and chips. I was staying nearby and randomly found Nick's. It was busy both with workers and customers. And to a Yank, both were friendly. The menu was standard for a chippy. I am a big fan of the chips with salt and vinegar -- double wrapped, shaken -- good stuff. I would return.

Good service, quick delivery. Tasty fish and chips. We enjoyed very much! Also very close to our hotel, Langley Guest House, just a few steps away.

The portions are well served, the chips are fantastic and battered sausages very tasty! The service is good and the price is good! I do recommend this place!

I would not say the fish & chips at Nick's is best but it is better than most I've had. Not greasy chips was good size, fish cooked just how I expected.Will go again, I recommend give it a try.

Very slow service and we had to wait over 15 minutes for a Pie, a Cheeseburger, large chips and 2 cans of coke. The cheeseburger was very overcooked and hard. I could only eat a quarter before I stopped. The pie was runny but ok, but the chips were disgraceful. Only a handful of the portion of large chips were edible, and half of these turned out to be undercooked. For the price we paid (over £10), we could have gone to McDonalds, had 2 filling meals and come back with change. If you want to be overcharged and hungry, then visit Nick's Fish and Chips in Langley!!!We wont be using them again.
