Nick's Chippy in Mansfield

Staff are very friendly, lovely food and even managed the 15 min walk and food was still warm. Great variety of products available at great prices. Will defo be visiting again

In the past, (50 + years), I've only had fish and chips, when my wife wanted it. It was sometimes excellent but often indifferent. It was the inconsistency that put me off. We moved to Mansfield in December and we've had "Nick's" fish and chips, once a week since then. My only complaint is that it's so boringly excellent. Just finished this week's cod and chips. SUPERB!!

1 chips, 2 sausages,1 gravy & a fish cake £11.well over priced, trying to get back what they lost during lock down. They must think that other people haven’t lost money in lip kits down. Ripped off

Ordered twice for delivery now and both times were just as good. The fish is huge and very nice. The batter was nice and crispy. Order arrived very quickly. Will definitely be back soon. Cheers :)

Just ordered from nicks chippy ordered pick up by accident, rang them straight away told them I needed it delivered told them my address 6 times and they made out they couldn't hear me put the phone down on me and blocked my number so I had too go all the way down there and argue with them to get my money back absolutely disgusting

Delivered my meal missing chips and with no sauce so ended up with kebab meat and salad. The food I got I was fine. Just not sure how a chippy misses the chips off the order !

My colleagues and I ( 5 of us ) decided to have lunch from here on a Monday because our usual chippy isn’t open on Monday lunchtime. Everything we ordered was 60p-80p more expensive than our usual place and nobody enjoyed the food.

I always say everytime I go here I'd never go back but due to location have ended up going back. Well never again! I would rather drive the distance and go somewhere where you arnt waiting all the time for chips and doner meat which there constantly seems to be a que for! Not to mention the rude staff who look at you like crap!

Nicks is always busy, that says it all, people come from across town to buy from here. Friendly staff, great fish and chips, lovely crisp batter, excellent mushy peas.

This review is for the shop on West Gate. As are my previous reviews. Both shops are run by the same guy. Have had breakfasts at most of the cafes, chip shops and department stores in the town centre area. Nicks is by far the best, comparing quality, quantity, price, sevice and ambience. Try it out, see what you think.

Go about once a month. Always good fresh fish . Would reccomend the haddock Staff always friendly and efficient

Nick’s Chippy is a family business and his whole menu is very well suited to all ages and many items can be ‘cooked to order’ he and his staff are always polite and very efficient which is one of the reasons I go there

Been here before, but first time trying fish, usually have breakfasts, but they had finished at 3pm. Fair enough. I had MINI fish, chips, beans, bread and butter and a can of coke. All for £5.80p. Mega value for money, as sat-in. Food was freshly cooked and very tasty. I could not have eaten a regular sized fish. Give it a try. It's at the end of West Gate.

Had a no.1 breakfast. See photo. All for less than a fiver. Good quality and presentation. Place is nice and clean. Bright and airy, if a little cold inside. Service was good. Deserves to have more footfall. Bit out of the way at the end of Westgate, but worth the walk from the centre.

Normally, this is the best fish and chips in Mansfield. But the owner wasn't there. The fish was oily and soggy. But it may be a glitch. Everyone has one bad day. So, I'll be visiting again.

I've been took Nick's chippy many times over the years and they are the best in the Town.So I would recommend a visit if you're in Town

Called here twice recently for breakfasts. The chippy is nice and clean and airy. Never been busy when I've been in, which seems a shame because it is really nice in here.

Fuimos para pescado y patatas fritas a las 5 de la tarde (hora de apertura) en un sábado. El pescado era viejo, grasienta y la piel estaba todavía. Patatas fritas y salsa de curry estaban bien era delicioso (que dice algo con salsa es lo mejor en la media).

Always hot food of good quality. We sometimes have a mixed kebab which is enough food for two of us and we don't have the appetite of a sparrow-lol .

Lovely place nice food and friendly staff this is were we go for our weekly fish and chip Friday. Good size portions aswell

Nos quedamos con ganas de tener una comida de aquí, el lugar parece muy bonito, muy limpio, que es donde las cosas buenas, el personal detenido sólo podía manejar a mirar un poco como estaban contentos por su encargo.

Small chips and gravy. Good quality chips and tasty gravy. All in all not bad. £2 for small chips and gravy. But 10p for a fork. Dearie me. A tad expansive. So lose a star.

Lamento decir que no ha habido un deterioro en la calidad de pescado y patatas fritas. El tamaño de las porciones más pequeñas y tienen los peces no siempre fresca. Se cambio chippies!

Conveniently located just down the road from where I work, they cook Spam Fritters to order. Very well priced and happy staff.

Always go to this place for our fish and chips and we are never disappointed the staff are all polite and friendly and the food is excellent.

This fish and chip shop is the best I have been going here for years - Nick the owner is always welcoming cooking things fresh to order. A favourite of mine is the Kebab special with hot chilly sauce. Amazing never had a bad meal from here these guys are a credit - keep it up.

Love this chip shop, Always quick service. Alot of the food is fresh due to how busy they get. All the staff are friendly and always make conversation if you do have to wait. Great value for money, fish a little expensive but worth it as a small can hang off the plates sometimes! .. fantastic. love love.

Fantastic fish and chips. We've moved away and hadn't realised how good they were until we visited Mansfield last week.

A great chippy that serves fresh fish and a menu that includes, amongst other things, pies, sausages, mushy peas, kebabs etc.. The chips are excellent and the portions enormous! Friendly staff and generally a fast service. Highly recommended if you are looking for a really good chippy.

We have our supper from Nicks chippy most Fridays and they are always perfect, like Nick & his family.

I Had kebab n chips very nice! The chips were the best I've had in a long time, not greasy like some chip shops, the staff were nice and polite as wellHighly recommended

The £2.99 specials are really good value. A good family based chip shop with a good owner. Always fresh and staff are always very pleasant.

1st time I've bin never again didn't get wot i ordered no fish cake curry instead of cravy chap that severd me was miserable as sin i was in there half hour and wot i wanted should of bn in and out in 5 mins max.never again

Fantasic quality fish and chips. Particularly good if you are feeling really hungry when the mini fish and chips is perfectly adequate.

The fish and chips are always good quality, excellent range choice, good value and always service with a smile both at Bull Farm and Westgate Mansfield.

We regularly order the large cod from Nicks as it is the only fish I will eat as I find others too strong in flavour, It is always cod, Nick will tell you if he has a problem with availability, it is just wonderful and the batter is crisp and light and the best I have ever eaten anywhere. We have never found a chip shop to compare with Nicks for the quality of the fish and also the chips, which are very crisp and nicely cooked, not soggy like some can be, really excellent. Whenever we are away from home and have chips elsewhere we have a standard saying of "it's not Nicks", because they never stand a chance, far too high a standard to follow.

Visited this chippy recently as I fancied a nice piece of cod and had heard that the fish was good here. I have been eating cod, and only cod, all my life as I don't like any other fish. I ordered a large piece of cod and had to wait 10 minutes for it to be cooked. I repeated several times that I wanted a large COD as I had watched Watchdog on BBC recently where Trading Standards had taken samples of fish from various chip shops and several had been selling various other types of fish and were calling it cod.I understood why I had to wait for the fish to be cooked as cod in expensive now and chip shops can't afford to waste any.I paid £4.50 for this fish and it was most definitely NOT cod. After eating cod all my life I know what is cod and what isn't . I suppose that it is possible, as the fish was all cooked together, that someone made a mistake and gave me the wrong piece of fish. If there is a next time I will check the fish before I leave the shop.

This is our local chippy and we love it. Great food, large portions and good service from the staff too.
