Newton Chinese in Wakefield

Ordered 2 meals today, just disgusting food. was literally warmed in microwave and sent out for delivery, restaurant is 15 minutes from my house and they managed to cook both meals and deliver it at my door in exactly 15 minutes, Spoke with one of staff on phone and he couldn't explain how they done it, DO NOT buy or eat this stuff.🤮👎

I ordered 2 meals today, just disgusting food. it was literally microwaved and sent out for delivery, the restaurant is 5/10 minutes from my house and they were able to prepare both meals and deliver them to my door in exactly 5/10 minutes. I spoke to an employee on the phone and he could not explain how they did it. On your app still shows the food is on way, but it is a lie. the food was delivered 5/10 minutes after I made the order. I am pregant if I had this food could be dangerous for me and my baby. This was poison food, can be dangerous, people can feel unwell. I try to speak with different staff from your team and everyone end up the chat without help me with this problem.

Always have a cracking chinese from here. Really tasty fresh food and is always cooked right so has a good texture, if you know what I mean. Definitely one of the better Chinese takeaways around Wakefield and I've tried a few.

Second time using this take away and was not disappointed to receive a excellent meal Was so fresh obviously just cooked as it was red hot, it all looked delicious and tasted even better Large spring rolls (pancake rolls) Are a MUST Loved the food

Got to be the worst Chinese food I have ever tasted, absolutely disgusting.

Had the grandkids over for the weekend and asked them what they wanted for tea...they all said a "Newton Chinese". So we ordered starters and mains to share. Everything was delicious and fresh....delivery on time too! Although we'd never had a takeaway from here before we will definitely go there again...so good!

It would appear they're happy to serve stale sub par food. Collected an order last night and within hours of eating some of it, both of us have really ill stomachs. Thrown most of the food away as it's clearly dangerous.

Salt and pepper special absolutely disgraceful. Won't be using again. Also main dishes sauce was weak like water should get a refund really wouldn't have served a dog it

I ordered some food on new years eve and it was beyond bad. It was undercooked and something was clearly off. The lady I spoke to was very understanding and was helpful as she could be, but because it was done through just eat app, they couldn't issue my refund

Not been for years, but food was amazing, really enjoyed it. Portions huge!

Best Chinese takeaway we’ve tried

This was amazing. The food came early, it wasn't too salty which was fantastic and the flavours were delicious too. Very good, will be ordering again👍👌

Delivery was good, lady very friendly. However, we ordered a beef chow mein and a chicken and mushroom, the food was all in greasy water not a thick gravy. This has to be drained before we could eat it. The food tasted of old oil, the noodles greasy and slimy, the chicken was tasteless, dry and slimy! The whole order was £25 which was a complete waste of money, ashamed we wasted so much, as inedible and went straight in the bin. Didn’t bother complaining as there won’t be a next time. Get your act together Newton, and stop ripping your customers off there hard earned money, we pay enough so give your customers the quality they deserve!!

Honestly I don’t know how anyone can put bad reviews on this Chinese it’s outstanding and by far best in Wakefield consistently great. Just read the just eat reviews. Duck in black bean is amazing with loads of duck, it is expensive but def worth it, we have one every sat

Was really looking forward to it as had been told it was a great place for food. Upon opening the food was hot, generous portions. I was very disappointed in the lack of flavour. It was watery and some of the meats not cooked through properly.

Ordered from here a month ago and was great. However Just ordered some food tonight and in my chicken fried rice and curry sauce I found 3/4 long black hairs. Which isn’t mine as I’m blonde!! It put me off the full meal and couldn’t eat anything. What a waste of money. Very gutted and the hygiene was disgusting.

I ordered BBQ spare ribs! Not a bit of BBQ went near them. Looked like gravy not BBQ sauce and tastes awful. I work long hours and just wanted a decent takeaway. Not even worth eating

We ordered from here with it having a decent rating on JustEat and decent reviews. Firstly it said you got free spring rolls with your order, I rang to ask if we could have prawn crackers as well which the lady said yes to then not receive the spring rolls. The prawn crackers were hard and brown around the edges. The chicken with chilli and black pepper sauce was VERY watery and lacked flavour and no spice which I had to add my own, the noodles were bland, stuck together and had never seen a wok, the fried rice had no flavour and the chips were cold and had a cardboard texture. The salt and pepper chicken were decent sized pieces and had the most flavour out of anything but still weren’t impressed, I’m just glad I ordered some curry sauce to put all over the food! The beef was cooked nicely so that and the salt and pepper chicken were the best part. Won’t be ordering from here again. You have to try places to find out but for the money I will definitely be sticking to my usual place and it’s slightly cheaper for better quality.

Part of order not delivered, and they really are not that concerned.Have patronised them for years And found the food mostly satisfactory (apart from ribs ,inedible ribs). But when it comes to customer service ...it doesn't exist.Very disappointed with attitude. Will not be using them again.

Come here on a weekly basis for the same food. SO WHY ON EARTH GIVE ME CHICKEN IN A CHA SUI CURRY WHEN ITS A PORK DISH? Ruined my evening meal! Ill be ordering from another place in future. Not happy. The chicken is so fake and rubbery too.

Easily the best Chinese takeaway in Wakefield - and we've tried most of them! Food is always cooked perfectly and in big portions, and staff are always very friendly.

Order arrived items missing so called up very argumentative should off know from when delivery guy came that something not right, asking if I could tell what’s in the bag buy looking at it, bearing in mind it’s not a see through bag, The person (Chinese man) hung up on me the second person was no use couldn’t understand what I was saying so had to be passed to a English women who sorted it out for me, Only ever had problems with our food from here on a Thursday, Sadly I won’t be ordering from here any more for the simple fact of the way you handle the whole situation Need to invest in some training on how to deal with the public

Parking can be difficult if you're going to collect.

Not a good takeaway have seen them pick food up of floor owners wife sneezing all time whilst cooking with no face covering his knows what she spreads

My husband delivered for this Chinese .they put oyster sauce in the bean sprouts When the order had been written down And I’ve got allergy They do not read comments about food requests or allergies I would seriously avoid Unless you want to become ill there is only a 14 year old there that understands ENGLISH

Utterly appalled at the service I had. I ordered my food at 7pm through JustEat, at 8:30pm it still had not arrived, so I reported it as running late, then it suddenly around 8:45 stated it had been delivered, I was horrified as I had not received my order (as I was very hungry at this point, I was literally sat by my front door waiting for it), so I contacted JustEat. I was informed it was running late and would be another 15-20 minutes; 20 more minutes go by an its 9pm at this point, two hours since I placed my initial order. I got told to wait another 15-20 minutes and that "it would be on its way". Eventually after fighting with the customer support staff, I got my order cancelled and a full refund (Despite only being offered £5 at first). Waited two hours for no food and then had to fight for a refund. Given the fact this Chinese is literally 5 minutes from my house, I didn't expect that, so despite ordering this to celebrate my mothers birthday, we're now having to go to McDonalds to make up for the lost time and how hungry we are.

Normally the food here is ok but tonight it was beyond disgusting! I ordered chicken satay with noodles. The noodles stunk like fish and then satay was in a black watery sauce whixh tasted nothing like satay. Never will I order here again!!

Ordered on just eat as we didn't have the cash on us for our normal cash only chinese. Said before ordering 25-30 mins, when ordered it shot up to 1 hour...1hr 45mins later it arrived and it was definitely not worth the wait. Salt and pepper chips were nice but the rice was bland and stuck together in clums, the ok sauce was literally like tap water. Never again!

The spare ribs were not cooked properly and I don't even know what meat it was will not be ordering again main meal bland

If you enjoy late delivery, cold food and apathetic staff with a manager that won't speak to you then your ordering from the right place!

Good quality food but the taste can sometimes get plain if you have had it multiple times. The staff are nice and the wait can sometimes take a while especially when they're busy. Good prices overall a nice take out xx

Beautiful and belly-filling food, always delivered on time. I would highly recommend the Hot and Sour Soup and the Special Fried Rice. Cooked to Perfection.

We always order r chinese from here it's normally beautiful .... just got one n the curry sauce as lumps in the salt n pepper chips r tasteless the rice as more lumps of boiled rice than egg fried rice !! Not impressed 18 pound wasted

Used to go here alot but seems things have changed. Tried to order on just eat, said minimum spend was 8 pound. I spent 11 and got an email saying order had been cancelled. I then ordered off their website and waited over an hour. Had to ring them to chase it up and they said the website belongs to old owners and they couldn't see orders on there, even though I got a confirmation email. I then tried to order on the phone for them to say they wouldn't deliver to me because it was under 15 pounds and that's why my just eat order got cancelled too. What a joke!

Placed an order via phone to be called back 30 seconds later saying the drivers “don’t want to deliver to there tonight” despite websites saying they deliver to the desired postcode.

This is definitely the best takeaway chinese in this area we had never tried it until moved in opposite here.....this kids loved it too we have tried most Chinese in this area and this definateley best one xx

Avoid! Ordered through Just Eat. Order was confirmed on the system, I received a confirmation email but then they got Just Eat to ring me to tell me to ring them (even though they were engaged for a good 10 minutes, had to try 11 times) so they could tell me they had cancelled my order. It was cancelled because they were too busy, they didn't have enough drivers and they didn't deliver to my area (what, WF1??). They also lied and said they couldn't get through to my mobile when they clearly never even tried. However, given some of the apalling food reviews I have read about them, they probably did me a favour in the long run.

First time ordering from here and it's best Chinese round here !! Will be using again.

Found this online. It has been one of my greatest discoveries so far. Definately recommend.

Tried Newton Chinese for the first time. Firstly soup tasted more like soap (chicken and sweetcorn). Secondly sweet and sour chicken balls had no sweet and sour sauce with them. Chicken inside said balls was slimy (slimy balls with no sauce is not what was ordered). Thirdly chicken curry was average at best. At least three quarters of this meal is now in the bin. Only got a star because I can't give it zero.

Appalling customer service through just eat any time I try and order they except then cancel last minute however having read other reviews pretty glad they declined my order

Cold food, 40 minutes late, bland salt and pepper chips which had chilli on despite us having requested no chilli, missed item off the order which was delivered another 45 mins later. Appalling customer service when complaining to the manager. Considering eating there? I’d strongly advise against it

If you're in the area and not local then give this little take away a chance. Doesn't look much from the outside but it's the service and food that counts. The young lady who served me was polite and happy. After taking my order she took the time to talk to me and make me feel welcome. I hope her career in the performing arts goes well. The food was tasty and hot even after driving back to my hotel. Suffering from a cold I ordered the hot & sour soup which was very tasty and perfectly spiced. I then had the Singapore noodles and these were excellent also. All in all a great little take away and one I will return to.

I order from this Chinese regularly and several times they have got my order wrong when it has been delivered to me it was cold. Every time I rang up to tell them they had got my order wrong a woman worker has been very rude saying "there is nothing we can do", would not recommend!!

Absolutely disgraceful!!! If I could score lower than 1 I would trust me!! Forgot my partners chips and sent me RAW spare ribs!! Then proceeded to tell me they wouldn't take them back or give me a refund! Please avoid this disgusting Chinese! Worst one I've ever ordered from! I will be ringing trading standards regarding this. I am absolutely disgusted!!
