This is a small but excellent airport. Car hire is very close to terminal, or Metro is only £4.50 to centre of Newcastle and takes about 25 mins, it has to be one of the cheapest airport transfers to a city centre in the world. Superb.

Automated desks take forever to scan the passport. Needs at least 15 desks not 5. Avoid this airport when travelling from overseas if on a UK passport..

Really good airport and I mean it! First of all, I came on a Friday night and had no queues at all! The security took less than 5 minutes and the duty free was large! And best of all, before the boarding gates were two massage chairs, £1 for 5 minutes! Went twice because I arrived at the airport early. And there are a lot of seating areas and places to charge any devices. My easyJet flight was going to depart at 21:15 but departed at 21:40 which isn’t really the airport’s fault though. Doesn’t matter either way because of how nice it was! Also, great link with the metro!

Decent airport but be careful if just picking someone up the dropoff at the front is a fortune , head to Short Stay 2 where you get 15 minutes free, stay in the left lane when entering the airport and head for the long stay parks , the short stay 2 turning is just before the barriers to the long stay , you need to slip off to the right into the car park

Had a great experience at this airport. All staff are friendly. As you walk in the front doors, all the airline baggage areas are in front of you, so it's easy. Plenty of toilets were clean and tidy. Security was easy I visited in a quiet period but the fact theu have the new scanners which means no bagging of liquids and all that hassle made it so much easier to get my ten litres of perfume through. The waiting areas were clean and tidy with not too badly priced areas to eat.

It's is small but quite well managed airport. Decent as well. Could still improve on cleanliness. Most importantly I have one question what is the point in starting boardings when you already know the take off is delayed due to bad weather in Amsterdam and bird near the runway of new castle. Could be better to do all that first and then start boarding.

This airport disgusts me. And I will do everything I can to avoid it, including the hotel (Hilton) It is a money grabbing disgrace. Any excuse to fine you for pick up and drop off in order to collect their new charge of £5. I picked up my pilot at the gates of the Hilton, I was fined £60 for this even though I had a vehicle issue and we were responding to power outages after the storm. No empathy, no nothing. Just fines to the max if they can. Newcastle airport parking is a joke, the airport inside sucks and they have spent a ton of money installing cameras just to try and catch people out. Including at the adjoining petrol station. Whole place is a joke, ill not be coming back and using any resources I can to avoid, can’t even get there on the metro without an increased toll Whomever runs this shambles wants to be ashamed! Avoid it!

10 minute drop off is now £5, gone up from £4. Could not see any signs to notify of this increase before payment. I brought 4 coins and was going to pay the rest on contactless but apparently you cannot do part payment via different methods. Pressed the help button on the machine but then had to wait about 5 or 6 minutes to speak to someone who then asked if I could go and get £1 from my parents who I'd just dropped off in the airport. Wow. Value for money - zero. Customer service - zero.

One of the biggest and most blatant rip- offs you are ever going to come across in your entire life. Everything from the second you arrive and are confronted with an extortionate £5 just to get dropped off by car or taxi and then the ludicrous prices in the departure lounge for food, drink, snacks etc. A litre of bottled water for instance costs more than you would pay outside for a litre of petrol. But no one cares and as long as passengers continue to allow themselves to be blatantly robbed in this way then nothing will change

Airport itself is fine, but road signage is terrible. No signs for hire-car drop off until you are almost there, and no way back if you accidentally exit roundabout leading to drop-off area (that’ll be £5 thankyou very much). All accompanied by aggressive notices warning of £100 fine if you stop to try to work out which way you should be going. All in all an unpleasant, stressful, and expensive experience (until you make it into the terminal).

After getting off the plane, there are quite a few steps to climb down with your hand baggage. There is no lift or escalator. It is a narrow and cramped staircase. After the stairs there is an escalator to the immigration area and everything is fine and well organised. Newcastle is a small and excellent airport except for those stairs at arrival.

However, during peak holiday periods, the airport was noticeably understaffed. High winds caused delays, which led to some disorganization. Many passengers, myself included, were left unsure of the procedures or where to go due to a lack of clear instructions. Parking is another area where the airport could improve. The fees for parking directly outside the entrance are steep, and the layout feels more business-focused than user-friendly. A reconfiguration to make short-term parking more accessible and reasonably priced would better meet the needs of travelers. Overall, Newcastle International Airport has a lot to offer, but addressing these minor issues could elevate the experience even further.

Clean tidy. Staff pleasant and friendly. Expensive for everything. Sometimes it pays to take your own food. Lot places didn't open straight away and some didn't open, staff shortages. Quick and easy to get your luggage through and pretty quick going through passport control and straight on to plane, no problems on this visit. Happy to return.

Overall, a fairly manageable airport. However, I find the “forced passage” through the duty-free area very unnecessary. After that there is a lot of commercial space until at some point you have to walk “downstairs” to all the gates. By the way, there is a lounge there that wasn't signposted anywhere else. The gate information was given 30 minutes before flight departure, which can be perceived as very tight. When you arrive, you should not change euros at the airport. Do this in the city center to save costs or get a better rate. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the metro had a defect and was therefore unusable. We then had to take the bus to the city center. We only found out about the unsigned stop from an employee on site.

What a brilliant airport. After the nightmare that Manchester has become in recent years, Newcastle is a refreshing reminder of how airports should be. Everything is convenient (admittedly there aren't the size constraints that Manchester has), car drop-off is easy, access to the city is simple, the staff are friendly and helpful, and there's still a lounge which turned out to be one of the best I've ever visited. I'll use this airport again, it's even worth doing a bit of extra driving if you're choosing between here and Manchester.

This airport has had a lot of investment and reorganisation over the past few years and the improvements show. There is now an acceptable amount of seating in the departures waiting area, the security was thorough, up to date technology helps the flow of identity and security checks, and the shabby areas have been dealt with. I've taken off a star because it's so expensive to do a quick drop off/pick up unless you know how to get round to the short stay car park and are alert enough to see which of the gates is the short stay one. (It's an expensive mistake if you drive to the wrong barrier after taking the left turn). It also took quite a while to check in to the BA flight to the USA, partly because of people having problems with their luggage weight - why do airports not provide weighing machines for free at the entrance, to help speed up check-ins?

Even the metro is more expensive to go one more zone {and the airport is the only station in that zone). So £4 to be dropped off at the front or £8 if over 15 mins. What service did I get for that? The service at this airport is very efficient compared to other airports I have been to in Great Britain. I must not fail to notice that the parking lot where I left my car for a week was not cleared of leaves and it was slippery there when we returned from vacation. I'm taking away four stars! I must also note that when walking with a heavy suitcase on wheels at three in the morning, it is impossible to avoid the puddles, which are huge. Very poor infrastructure compared to foreign... In the UK no one cares about quality. All you have to do is go abroad to see that people in the UK are lazy and, even though they are better paid than elsewhere, they do their job worse than you can imagine. Poor and shameful!

Terrible! I flew out of Newcastle earlier in the week and saw a post saying they won ‘Airport of the Year’ for 2nd consecutive year.. I was on a flight from Amsterdam - Newcastle at 10pm yesterday. There was a slight delay (30 mins) because they had to de-ice the plane after snow. Everyone was sat in the plane ready for take off which the pilot said should be in 15 minutes. He came back less than 5 minutes later saying Newcastle Airport said they’re closing and the flight has to be cancelled. There was approx 200 passengers in the flight which were all left stranded. Bear in mind the flight time was only 45 minutes. I understand that the airport has to take care of the staff. What about the 200 odd passengers that were left scrambling to find hotels and alternative passage (none) and can’t get home to their families?!?! I had friends flying to Leeds and Manchester the same night and they all got home safely. SHAME. Doesn’t deserve the Airport of the Year award in my books. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

For an international airport there are only 5 old electronic passport machines and one was not working as usual. They seriously need to have more machines I'm sure the name is Newcastle International Airport that suggests great service on arrival not just in departures.

The staff are all really friendly and it is spotlessly clean. The Metro is connected to the airport building. Car parking drop off and short stay is overpriced. The Airport taxis are run as a monopoly and prices reflect that. The airport is a cash generating machine for the local authorities. Security can be fast and efficient. In other words the passenger facing side is great but there’s too much emphasis on depriving you of your money at every available opportunity. Many arrivals and departures involve walking across the tarmac.

I got to Newcastle airport at 5.45pm on Tuesday. Most of the retail outlets and restaurants airside were already closed. I thought that was quite early considering there were still 6 flights departing that evening. The bar, Boots, WHSmith and duty free were still open. Lots of seating areas were closed off while they were cleaning the floor. I would have thought they could do that at night. Anyway, at least security and boarding were very quick.

It's a great airport but marked a point down for charging £2 to pick someone up. It should be part of the flight package. My daughter has 4 children all under 7, so its not straightforward to get them safely seated without some barrier blocking your way while you fumble through for cash!! Holiday paid Seats paid Food on board paid More than 10kg paid £40 both ways Pay to get out of the barrier Ermmmm, cheap holiday Easy Jet charged my daughter £50 extra as her bag was slightly over, but she still had to put it above. Jet2 is much more accommodating. I always try my best to book the latter, but in her case, it has no option to Bristol from Newcastle

went to Hard Rock Cafe for a bottomless, it was our first time here and we were served by Dorian. She was fab and we always had a drink on the table!! We had a wonderful time, will defos come back!!

A lovely spot that always had fresh (and sadly rare in Newcastle ) independent feel to it has sadly CLOSED. On the plus side St Sushi are supposed to be taking over the spot which would be a better location for them

Boss was rude and screamed at staff. Had food come out still frozen too and we were told the food was fresh.
