A1 Chop Suey House in Newcastle upon Tyne

A restaurant advertised a delivery driver job from 5:30 PM to 10:30 PM, offering just £5 an hour—well below the national minimum wage. I was shocked and called them to ask how it’s possible to pay only £25 for 5 hours of work. They told me drivers earn extra from delivery charges, but that’s usually separate. At the very least, they should be paying minimum wage. Avoid this restaurant—they’re just wasting drivers’ time.

I ordered mini spring rolls tonight and got big ones they absolutely stunk the chips were soggy and the beef dish didn't taste good at all absolutely devastated total waste of money!

Never had a bad order from here in the yrs I've been a customer, only time I'm disappointed is when they go on holiday. Cannot recommend them enough, portion size is perfect and always tastes amazing.

Ordered two meals tonight. Rice was cold, chicken balls, batter was cold and soggy and the chicken like leather.. Chips cold and soggy. Rang up to let them know but didn't seem bothered, no apology just said they would be aware next time. Won't be a next time. Compete waste of money

Tried to give feedback on the over salty …salt and pepper chips and the inconsistent tastes of the dishes they were not interested at all and refused to take a further order from us wow such great customer service !!! Do not recommend….

We ordered at 18:30 , 19:45 no order phoned up , must of either been forgotten about or not checked orders , told will do it now , it's now 20:21 still no order told on phone driver sent out but he is bit slow ,not really good enough to be fair didn't really care , definitely won't be ordering from here anymore which is a shame as we always ordered from here. 20:28 just arrived basically 2hrs no extras as a sorry or crackers etc so no more.

Absolutely mickey take tonight! We've ordered from here countless times in the past and they've always been consistently good, we are loyal customers but after tonight I can honestly say I will never be ordering from here again. I ordered at half 6 tonight and I'm still sat here waiting for my order now almost 2 hours later!! I wouldn't care but I've only ordered 2 items, I've already rang them and it was as though they had no record of the order, so said they're doing it straight away and here I am half an hour later still waiting! If they don't hurry up I'm just going to ring up and cancel the whole order, is it because I'm not spending much that they simply don't care? It shouldn't matter whether you spend £5 or £50, all customers should receive the same level of service! At first I thought maybe they're just having a bad night but seriously 2 hours for 2 items is absolutely pathetic. You have lost my custom! UPDATE: It arrived 2 hours after ordering, my husband told the delivery man that we won't be ordering from here again and his response was, "well it's Saturday night what do you expect? I just bring the orders so it's nothing to do with me!" So it other words it's my fault for ordering on a busy night, it's not my problem!

2 hours and 2 phone calls later I might actually have my order! We only ordered 2 items, when we rang up the first time they had no record of our order so sent it out, second phone call they told my husband that the delivery driver is slow, well sorry but that's not my problem and if he can't cope then maybe he shouldn't be doing the job! It's not my fault if you can't cope or your staff are slow. We've ordered many times previously and never had any issues, usually our orders come within 20-30 mins. When it finally did arrive my husband told the driver we won't be ordering from them again and he asked why, we told him we've been waiting over 2 hours now and he simply said well it's Saturday night, it's busy so what do you expect? We've never had any issues on busy nights before so I find that to be a strange response! We barely got an apology and we got no refund or even any freebies chucked in for all the hassle. I always say mistakes happen and maybe places have bad days, I could accept an hour wait but definitely not two hours! I'll never be ordering from here again, they have just lost a very loyal customer!

Delicious food bur sometimes greasy.

Insta:mysweetnsourballs Used to go to this place all the time when it was located on Gosforth High Street. Tried it again recently and the sweet and sour chicken balls are still great. Love the sauce too, its think and red. You get 8 chicken balls and they are massive. Out of the 24 chicken balls we got only 2 were poor quality. Still a great chinese takeaway.

Why take orders when you can't fullfill them. Total fail. Ordered , payed my money then... nothing, rang up and was told to far despite being in the area. Good food but they cannot deliver.

Be very careful when ordering from this shop. If you receive your food and there's something not right with it, you will NOT be able to have it rectified. Having ordered sweet and sour sauce, it just tasted like vinegar. When I rang to ask if it could be replaced, the woman on the other end argued with me, and told me she would replace it for £1:50 delivery, even though it was the shop's fault the sauce wasn't right!!! She actually asked if I was having a joke with her!!!!! She then asked me to consider her situation??? I will be avoiding this shop like the plague from now on.

I ordered the spring rolls, assuming that they were vegetarian, only to bite into one of them to find they contained chicken and pork. As someone who dosent eat meat this really upset me. I know I should of asked if they were vegetarian or not. But judging by the popularity of vegetarian and vegan these days. I found it quite unprofessional how the menu doesn't contain any dietary information. Fair enough you need to ask, but people shouldn’t have to phone up if there ordering it online to ask these types of questions it should be written on the menu in my opinion. There was no mention of any meat being in the spring rolls. Although other than that, the meal was generally ok.

Well what can I say first time we’ve used A1 and we will definitely be back we took advantage of one of the set meal dishes didn’t like one of the dishes but the man that took our order said we could change it for a different main meal which I thought was really nice of him all the food was absolutely fantastic better than the Chinese we have used for years so will definitely be back thank you for lovely food

I don't even know what ive just ate. Ordered a munchie box and the salt and pepper chicken is absolutely disgusting more like popcorn chicken no spice in fact no taste at all. Never again.

This has got to be the worst Chinese we have ever had ! Salt and pepper chicken absolutly tasteless and chewy , noodles were rank , curry sauce was salty ! What an entire waste of £30 . Defo would not recommend ............. ever .

order from here all the time, staff are very friendly and polite even remember my boyfriends name each time we go in which I think is great customer service - food always delicious
