Really disappointed, unfortunately nobody on our table enjoyed their food. Staff were friendly and great location.

Espantoso. Nada de café descafeinado. ¿Lo venden en el supermercado local? ¿Puedes cambiar mi pudín negro por haggis, por favor? No, porque la cocina es muy pequeña. WTF???? Este huevo florentina no tiene espinacas, ‘sí porque se nos ha acabado’ Bueno, no volveremos.

This was my favourite place for breakfast. Delicious food, amazing service and a wonderful atmosphere. You aren’t squeezed onto tiny tables like many places in Edinburgh so you can actually enjoy your meal.

Tuvimos la suerte de alojarnos justo al lado de este pequeño restaurante. Nos gusta aventurarnos a desayunar y probar pequeños restaurantes independientes. No nos decepcionaron. El personal era genial y el lugar era precioso para un lugar de desayuno escocés. Lo recomendaría encarecidamente y el desayuno era muy sabroso y en realidad no pude terminarlo, un huevo frito habría sido abundante. Gracias y genial ver estos lugares prosperar

Coffee machine was out of order and baked beans weren't available, which we didn't find out until the food was brought to us... Our drinks weren't brought to us until we had already eaten half of them.

No coffee and no beans without first saying that the beans are out. Service poor and chai forgotten (was then taken off the bill)

Such a cute out of the city cafe! Found through TikTok due to the amazing food and atmosphere. It didn’t disappoint as the soup was devine with a nice coffee to warm you up on a winters day. Worth the short walk out of the main streets and nice energy in there 😊

I had a very hearty and filling full Scottish breakfast here today, the rest of my friends had pancakes, potatoe cake stack amd a bacon roll. All were very good quality and excellent value for money. This was a nice way to round off my trip to Edinburgh

Amazing food, tasty, nice atmosphere, really polite people.

Popped in for some lunch on a trip to Edinburgh and the food was good, if not a touch on the pricey side, and I unfortunately had X2 avocado stem pips in my guacamole which impacted my experience of the food. Finding one was bad enough! I would go again though as the other meals we ordered looked excellent and the waiting staff were lovely.

Lucky enough to have them as a client ( we pick up the rubbish :). But overall can't fault new town fox on any of there establishments as everything from the coffe/food and staff are fantastic always a great atmosphere and smiling faces 😀

Horrible experience. The place was pretty empty and we had to keep reminding them about our drinks, they brought the wrong dishes out and we ended up cancelling some of the dishes in the end as it took so long. For the food that arrived, it was over salted. Lots of better places close by

We had brunch here on Saturday morning. We had a 2 week old in a pram and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating. The remainder of the service was great and the food was exceptional. Thanks New Town Fox!

Evening meal for 4. I've always viewed it as a brunch place but gave it a shot for dinner because it had availability when Edinburgh was busy. The food was quite good and the price was fair. The wine selection was on point, very nice staff, highly enjoyable. Very solid 4/5 but room for improvement. The "chocolate mousse with cherry syrup & sugar cookies" was a let down. The sugar cookies glued to the teeth in an unpleasant way. The cherry syrup was overly sweet/tart. Some obvious closing-time organisation going on nearby that could have been kept away from the restaurant area.

Thoroughly enjoyed a quick bite and a brew at New Town Fox. Food was delicious, service was friendly and efficient and I sat outside to enjoy the street vibes - would absolutely recommend!

We went yesterday to have lunch and we enjoyed it a lot. The staff is friendly and helpful and the food was veeeery good.

Visited the New Town Fix for a bite to eat ahead of seeing Myra’s Story at the Assembly Rooms. The cafe was fairly busy and I had a breakfast roll(Black Pudding & Egg) and Iced Americano. Plenty of other food and drink was on offer. The cost was very competitive given it’s location and If I’m in the area again is probably pop in for a repeat visit.

Food is average. Terrible Service. Was asked to wait outside, but has been ignored for 10 minutes. Then gave a really tight corner seat, had to move out the table and chair to squeeze in even there are plenty of empty seats. Added a fried egg then came two, didn’t even mentioned there are two in a portion, had to pay two eggs even if I only need one. Ruined the day from the beginning, never go back again.

Nice atmosphere. Sophie the waitress is the best I have ever seen. Good food and reasonable prices. Good cocktail list.

First time in Edinburgh. This place was wonderful to have breakfast at 💚 their eggs were awesome, great cocktails, and the waiters were really sweet 10/10 would come here again

We had breakfast at the New Town Fox. Unfortunately, there was a kitchen maintenance scheduled on this day so only a few items on the menu were available. This was correctly stated upon arrival. We opted for the yogurt-granola bowl, which unfortunately for me personally had too much granola compared to the yogurt. We also took the pancakes with bacon, these were okay! The homemade lemonade was very tasty. It wasn't too busy, the service was smooth and there was a nice window seat (but no one closes the door when they come in so you have some extra work to close the door every time)

I had an excellent Full Scottish Breakfast. The service was great, fast and efficient. A bit expensive, but I guess that’s Edinburgh for you. My Carmel latte was nice and hot too.

Comimos en este restaurante tres veces durante nuestros primeros cuatro días en Edimburgo. Está convenientemente ubicado cerca del parque de la calle Queen y nuestro hotel, The Royal Scots Club. El restaurante tiene un bar completo y ofrece opciones veganas y sin gluten. Están abiertos de 9.00 a 8.00 horas: 30 pm. Desayunamos/almorzamos dos veces y cenamos nuestra última noche en el hotel. El servicio fue genial en cada visita. El tamaño de la porción era perfecto. Tostadas de Aguacate y sus sopas caseras que cambian diariamente vale la pena probar!

I ended up here accidently, I was staying nearby for a couple of days. It looked cozy so I decided to go inside and it was the best decision ever. I very much enjoyed my breakfast here, I will miss this place dearly. Food is really great, let me tell you, pancakes with bacon and maple syrup were truly amazing. Honestly, the best thing I ever had, and I couldn't finish it all, I was so full! Had my first haggis here, it was also delicious. 😋 Very good coffee, amazing atmosphere, music is spot on (Rocket Man by Elton John will forever remind me of this place ❤️), and the staff is wonderful. Fantastic young people, I wish you all the best. And compliments to the chef(s). You made my stay in Edinburgh feel very special.

Very good cafe for breakfast. We had super friendly service, very good food and big portions. Everything was very enjoyable and we had a great time and enjoyed every bite. The vegan tower was a great start into the day

Ate breakfast here since it was right across the street from our hotel. Food is good and great service. Ordered traditional Scottish breakfast which was good. Good coffee too.

Best breakfast in the land!! The potato stack and haggis is incredible! Only downside, I'm now so disappointed with every breakfast I ever have now anywhere else now!

Just visited this morning for brunch, and it was awesome!!!

Very quiet when I was there, however friendly staff, a lovely atmosphere, great music, and above all a smashing Scottish breakfast made up for that. Reasonably priced too, the window seat is a great place to watch the people of Edinburgh go by. Highly recommended.

Cozy atmosphere in this small restaurant near the center, we had the vegetarian Scottish breakfast which was very good and plentiful as well as the bacon pancakes which were also delicious. Please note, it is better to book, especially on weekends. Friendly and fast service.

New Town Fox is a neighborhood bistro that offers a well-balanced menu of staples and specials for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Each plate is straight-forward fare that is disarmingly delicious. The NTF staff is both attentive and relaxed. And… if you need a meal and a drink (because you have just jumped “The Pond” and your room will not be ready for hours), then here’s where you come… for a wonderful introduction to Edinburgh’s current culinary life… and what may be the best cup of well-brewed Cafe Americano ever!

I expected good, but they delivered excellent. I had the cod, with leek and black pudding followed by an apple and raspberry desert, washed down with a craft beer. There are no white table cloths, but it was up there with some Michelin starred meals I've eaten. Cost was just £36 plus service. Hard to fault!

The staff were incredible and the food was amazing (the best gnocchi we have ever had and everything else was delicious too) and the food was so well presented. The staff went above and beyond and were so kind and friendly. I would highly recommend this restaurant with amazing food, staff and a lovely atmosphere.

Sadly disappointing service from one of the servers (the iPad carrier...). Rude, disparaging and abrupt. Made to feel like we were annoyances rather than guests. Such a shame because the venue and the food are great, as are the other servers. The power of a kind polite word should not be underestimated. Though I thought I'd discovered a gem, I sadly won't be going back.

Such a great place for brunch. Staff friendly and and helpful and the food was amazing. Been seeing this place for years but decided to go in finally and regretted not going in sooner.

Had 4 guests to a "thank you" lunch and booked in advance. Table all set on arrival, service prompt, choice / quality of food very good, prices par for the course and certainly good value for money. Guests were very happy with experience, so a relaxing and happy occasion all round!

We stumbled across this little place and really glad we did. Great food and friendly staff.

It was my first time eating here. The customer service and overall atmosphere was horrible. I waited 10 minutes to be seated and another 20 to receive a menu. I ordered the salmon and scrambled eggs with a “house lemonade” the salmon smelt of oil and was a challenge to finish as the smell of oil put me off. I cut my gum on the bread as it was sharp and hard. The “house lemonade” had a a syrup substance at the bottom and just plain water on the top. I will not eat here again.

Nice food, but they repeatedly got a few orders wrong. Not a big deal but the worst thing about this place is the service. Staff give you the sense you’re bothering them. Didn’t feel welcome and won’t be coming back here.

Very relaxed, went in for dinner that was handy to our hotel & the food & service were great. We both had the spicy chicken burger with sweet potato fries & Asian slaw. We also had some cheese and biscuits. All very tasty & great value

Very quick service, good brunch choices, and wonderful coffee.

Overall it’s a nice place. Decent food and friendly service. The veggie break this nice but too dry. Don’t sit at the table in the window: constantly having to close the door when people enter and leave is pretty tedious.

This is one of my favourite brunch places. Their stacks are so tasty, especially as they contain homemade tattie scones. Their homemade lemonade is also delicious. Service is always friendly and there’s a cosy atmosphere at this wee gem.

Lovely place, great brunch & coctail options, friendly service!

My partner and I stayed down the hill and came here 3 out of 4 mornings in Edinburgh for a coffee and breakfast (we tried to branch out but just came right back!) The interior is cosy and modern, trendy and whoever's in charge of the music has good taste. The staff are friendly and accommodating, even letting us bring our suitcases in on our last day. The coffee (they have their own blend) is lovely and the food is to die for. We tried the full Scot breakfasts, the pancakes and the salmon; the portions are generous (LOTS of salmon - thank you) and someone knows how to scramble an egg! Definitely give this place a go, you won't be disappointed.

Slow service for 2 soups which one delivered was pleasant but bread was toasted ? Fresh and 2 cups of tea which were tasteless Kitchen was too busy hence delay but restaurant not full … Scone was given cheap packet of jam no clotted cream as on menu

I loved the duck breast. Absolutely delish. Combined it with a red portugese wine that was super soft with no after taste. Excellent combo. My partner took the edinburgh raspberry ginger beer with the chicken burger and some really yummy haloumi fries. I took the 2 dishes deal for 22 GBP with the fruity dessert which was light and delicious. Really good quality for price. Not too busy making the vibe relaxing on a Thursday evening.

I really like this place and come here often. It’s got a laid back, friendly vibe and really tasty, good quality food. I especially recommend the battered cauliflower wings starter- super tasty! Good vegan options on the menu which is appreciated, and nice cocktails too.

My boyfriend and I went to New Town Fox to experience our first Scottish Breakfast. I had the Veggie version with a poached egg, toast, beans with tomato, vegetarian haggis, vegetarian sausage and potatoes scones. My boyfriend had the traditional one with a fried egg. It was delicious! The atmosphere is really cosy and the restaurant is very well situated. We totally recommend this place. Also, the staff was super nice and with good advice.

We ate here every night we were in Edinburgh -- fantastic variety of food, great drinks and friendly and efficient service. Youd be missing out if you didn't stop by for the budget friendly price fixe or ala carte menu.

Delicious food. I had the haddock pakora with Bombay potatoes and Asian slaw on the side. My partner had home made soup and sourdough toast. Delish ! The waitress was extremely knowledgable and super friendly. Service was great. Loved the vibe of the place. Will be back.

We were a large group, ordered the table the night before on line, but arrived with one more person than we booked for. It could have been solved without trouble, but especially a female staff was quite uncooperative. The food took a long time to arrive, which we accepted as we were a large group. The food was delicious and very reasonable. But service was not up to reasonalbe standards.

Lovely small restaurant in the New Town area with delicious food! Loved their sea bass and cauliflower dish. Recommend for a more intimate dining experience, yet just a few blocks from all the major tourist attractions.

The food was so tasty, the duck was cooked to perfection. I would have given 5 stars but both mains had very little jus/sauce on them that it made the meals a bit dry.

Absolutely delicious. Had a late lunch and both dishes were excellent. Iced coffee and hot coffee were both wonderful as well.

Late (for Edinburgh) on a Friday evening this place was an oasis of tranquility and a drink.

They fit us in without a reservation (lesson learned). The food was surprisingly good and priced reasonably. The 3 course dinner with the trout was delicious and only 25£. A great find!

Great service, great bar menu and the food is extremely affordable and gourmet quality.

Lovely chilled atmosphere with a decent menu. Loved the tempura prawns and pork belly starters and the burgers were tasty. Dog friendly too. Slightly away from the main tourist areas but only a short walk to a quieter area.
