Just went to book this restaurant, for dinner later in the week, and was SHOCKED to see that they require your table back after ONE hour. There's no way I'm rushing a meal and wine just to get turfed out the door. No time for desert or coffee afterwards. No thanks. Will be taking my money elsewhere.

I hadn't been to Bread Meats Bread for a few months and once again the quality of burgers did not disappoint - superb flavour and just so tasty. We hadn't made a reservation so it was a walk-in and we were seated pretty much instantly. A queue quickly formed behind us though so we had clearly got lucky and turned up at the right time. If you want a guaranteed table though, it really would be best to book in advance. I didn't have a starter and went for two burgers, one of which was a doubled-up Wolf Burger (+£5 for additional patty) making it a pretty awesome eat..! Our waitress was polite and efficient and the food and two-pint pitcher of their lovely 5% German beer arrived quickly. The prices at Bread Meats Bread are definitely at the higher end for burgers but are easily comparable to any other gourmet burger outlet in Edinburgh. I would say for the size of portion that you get, the prices for the fries are a bit too expensive but the quality of the burgers more than makes up for that. Definitely looking forward to the next visit..!

I have been following this place for awhile as my partner wanted to try the pastrami sandwich. It was nice but I think he was a little disappointed with the sandwich filling e.g. not enough sauerkraut and pastrami. We also add on a halloumi fries and it was nice and crunchy. The lunch deal was well worth it. The only thing I would say is all our sauces are the same gochujang mayo, could have mix it up abit.

Delicious burgers and sandwiches. We ordered: Sunshine on Beef, Smoky mozzarella cheeseburger with pulled beef brisket in smoky BBQ sauce, crispy fried onions, pickles, and gochujang mayo (£15) Fried Chicken Cheese Burger, fried chicken breast with gooey cheese, with pickles, lettuce, mayo on a sesame bun (£11.50), and Classic Big Poutin fries (£5) with dips. Everything was prepared masterfully and tasted delicious. The service was friendly and attentive. We'll go back when we return to Edinburgh.

Really delicious burgers, using dry aged beef 😎 they also have Korean touch with Gochujang mayo , and it’s perfectly spicy and delicious! Can only recommend after a tiring day, and they also have a good variety of beers , including Scottish draft IPA!

I've been (and ordered, and take away) from this restaurant a impressive amount of time, over multiple years. I really liked this place, and it was one of my favourite restaurants in town for quality/price. I'm okay paying a small premium for good quality. However, over the years I saw a steady decline of the food quality and an increase of price. I have been disappointed for the last couple of times (and I'm not talking once or twice, I'm talking a good 7 to 10 times), so I won't go here anymore

The beef burger was really good, although the chips were good but not special. The vegetation meat was not the best.

Super tasty and unconventional burgers. Families are also catered for with opportunities for painting for the little ones. The service was also impeccable.

I definitely had one of the best burgers I've ever had here. The dry aged beef patty was fantastic - I had the bacon cheeseburger, no frills, cheese, meat, crispy bacon, onion, pickles - it was delicious! The waitress was also super friendly and accommodating, I felt very comfortable.

Fantastic place, excellent service with friendly staff. Don’t get me started on the food, it was absolutely incredible. I had the Challoumi burger and it was an explosion of taste in my mouth. I went with a friend who had the Philly cheesesteak burger and he was also raving about his food. Won’t hesitate to come back

I used to like this place as this place sell poutine only in Edinburgh. My poutine was too cold and overpriced with that small portion even we ordered the large size. Korean Mayo sauce doesn’t go well with the burger and the pulled pork was too dried.

We had reserved a table but arrived an hour early and they were happy to find us a table. The burgers were amazing, a little messy to eat but totally worth it. My kids had the burger and hot dog both of which were plenty big enough. It was great value and would definitely recommend

Wow, what amazing Gluten Free menu, my friend had a chicken fagita sub I had the grilled chicken cheese, really wasn’t looking forward to trying this, but when it came it looked great , we shared half and half and got a portion of chips,the waiter Johnny was very helpful and friendly

Brilliant burgers and very nice staff, we arrived 40 mins early for our booking and the team happily sourced us a table, the burgers were very nice, really tasty and didn't feel greasy at all.

I couldn't shake the feeling of being slightly overcharged for the experience. The restaurant's reputation preceded it, and while the food barely lived up to expectations, I couldn't help but feel that it was somewhat overrated. Additionally, the inclusion of an "optional" service charge on the bill put me in an uncomfortable position when paying. While I understand the rationale behind such charges, it felt more obligatory than optional, leaving me torn between accepting it and potentially appearing stingy by declining. In conclusion, potential diners should be aware of the added service charge and manage their expectations accordingly. With a slight adjustment in pricing transparency and perhaps a more genuine approach to optional charges, this restaurant could truly excel in providing both exceptional cuisine and customer satisfaction. I'd happily pay the 'optional' service charge with satisfaction had the food lived up to it's expectation.

THE most amazing burger I've ever had!!!

In town from Seattle Washington and needed a good, warm meal on the walk home from touring the castle. Restaurant was casual, clean and host friendly. Prices good for what you got. We had the Rueben, buffalo chicken bites and tots and loved it. Great dipping sauces!!

Very good burgers, very nice atmosphere and very quick service

When firs arrived staff just all stood talking and looking over at us made us feel awkward. Eventually got table plenty to choose from. We ordered food was lovely then when we finished the main again made to feel awkward with staff hanging around like they wanted up out! Now the cheeky part! I asked for the bill just under £50 to be told they add 3% service charge on to the bill! For what making us feel awkward and doing what they are paid to do? wont be going back....

The cost of dining seems disproportionately high relative to the quality of the food. At £14, the brisket sandwich is priced at a premium, yet its taste and presentation do not justify the expense. Similarly, the burger, priced at £12.50, barely distinguishes itself from the standard fare offered by popular fast-food chains, despite the expectation of a more gourmet experience at such a price point.

We visited twice during our 3 day stay in Edinburgh after a very positive initial experience, and it was just as good the second time around. The extensive gluten free menu was a huge positive for my partner who can often find it challenging whilst eating out with a lack of options on menus. However, she was spoilt for choice at Bread Meats Bread. The prices on the main menu are quite high, but the lunch menu offers excellent value for money at £12.95 for a burger, chips and drink. The restaurant itself is a nice setting, staff are very friendly and the portions are huge. It's definitely worth a visit, especially for those who are gluten free and looking for somewhere that offers plenty of choice.

Was recommended this place by a friend and was totally not disappointed, the food was spot on and the service brilliant. Would highly recommend.

A very good Reuben, and great service. Not hugely great value but it is on Lothian Road. Milkshake would have been better without the artificial sauce

Gluten-Free burger was delicious. Huge GF menu. I went for a Bacon Cheese burger with lettuce and tatter tots on the side. Got a milk shake too. Nice environment. A little expensive.

The experience was much less than a few years ago, the food was rather poor, my wife's Pulled Pork Toastie was served on burnt bread. Was not what we were expecting from it's glory days. hot beverage selection was also rather poor, service was mediocre with the restaurant feeling dated and unloved. The sting in the tail was the automatic addition of a service charge. When I asked for this to be removed given our experience a convoluted conversion ensued. Very disappointed overall, not what it once was!

Great menu with plenty of choice, many Canadian dishes you don't see in any other restaurant in the UK for obvious reasons. Tasty food, reasonably priced, nice beer as well, great service with a smile. Can't wait to come back.

Probably the best burger I have ever had. Staff were lovely and friendly. But the Cali Burger (double) was out of this world. Freshest meat ever and the buns are amazing and slightly sweet. If you are ever in Edinburgh..... You need to visit. Booking recommended if possible.

I tried the Wolf Burger and was really satisfied with the flavor it left in my mouth. Excellent service, all the waiters were very kind. Perhaps the price is a little high due to the small size of the sandwiches but in my opinion it's worth it for being in Scotland

The best burger I've had since turning veggie! Service was fantastic - the staff clearly know their stuff and nothing was too much trouble - we were able to switch and change things to suit (vegetarian + garlic/onion intolerance). Food was insanely good and everything seasoned beautifully - halloumi fries with garlic mayo and the caramel apple pie...oh my days!! 🤤 Fab decor, awesome playlist, HIGHLY recommend eating here! Also love the fact it's an independent place too.

I attended this restaurant before attending a concert at nearby Usher Hall. The whole trip was a bit of a rare treat for me. After struggling to choose from the extensive menu I opted for the Wolf Burger and within a very short space of time it appeared in front of me. It looked delicious and I delved in. I am in no way a food expert but from the first bite I found the tastes and textures absolutely amazing. I found myself eating slower and slower simply so I could savour the flavours and felt immense satisfaction coupled with a touch of disappointment (at the fact it was gone!) when it was finished. I contemplated another burger, just to extend the taste sensation, but concluded that was simply greed so opted for a yummy dessert instead. To summarise, it was the tastiest burger I have eaten in my 55 years and coupled with the relaxed, friendly atmosphere I can't wait to return.

This was by far the best burger restaurant we ate at in Edinburgh in 2022. The atmosphere was extremely friendly, and our dinning experience was wonderful. We actually ate here twice. The food was exceptionally tasty. With every smell and bite, we could tell that the ingredients were fresh. This was my favorite restaurant in downtown Edinburgh.

Biggest GF burger etc. menu ever. Just the same huge range as the non-GF menu. Service was excellent. Will be back again soon.

First night dinner, looked for options near our hotel and found this. Was a great experience, went for Lil Kim burgers, hot dog and parmesan cheese fries. Had a good relaxed vibe and staff members were all pleasant and attentive. Food came pretty quick. Cannot fault the food or venue.

Really enjoyed the food in this restaurant, it was really delicious if a bit expensive. The service was a bit poor, once the food arrived we didn't anyone approach us again and so couldn't order more drinks.

Food comes out quick, within 10-15 minutes during peak busy hour. Had the Angry Birds Burger and Bacon Tots for myself, and my partner had the Sunshine on Beef Burger and the Raspoutine The Healer fries. Portions are huge and amazing. Cocktails are great. They're presented ever so nicely, and as a visitor to Scotland, I can confirm they don't hold back on alcohol. Server was this lovely jolly fellow with quite the goatee and beard combo. He's got such a lovely vibe and really kindly put my drunken oreo milkshake in a to-go cup. General vibe of the business is great too. I saw online that there's 6 locations, and I truly hope as the business expands they'll continue with great food and service.

added on “optional tip” at the end of our bill without asking us. bit ridiculous if you ask me, seeing as the staff were dry and inattentive. The food was average at best and definitely not what was expected at that price point. We got smash burgers and dirty fries, which was all far too salty. We were recommended this place and honestly wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else.

Service is OK but food is far from good for the price. The meat on the burger was very dry, and the poutine is basically made of frozen chips, cold halloumi and pre-heated gravy. I would not recommend it at all.

Personally find the standard quite low for the cost. The burgers tasted dry and the buns tasted cheap. For 14 pounds and not including a side we expected more. We had both a beef burger and a vegan burger and neither were up to our standards. The chips size is also really small for what it costs.

TOURIST TRAP. They charge you an optional tip on the ticket, which is nothing optional because it is already added. It is shameful and should be reported, if it is optional I will decide if I want to do it or not, but they did not ask for this option they directly charged for it. The hamburgers were not exceptional either, but without this ugly gesture the food would have simply been fine.

It used to be the place to go for a burger in Edinburgh. Visited with some friends for the first time in a year only a few days ago to what was a very overpriced meal. Don't get me wrong, the burgers are tasty but very overpriced for what they are. The sides are a disgrace. Paying £7 for a very small bowl of chips! I don't think anyone disputes the food is nice, but it's a burger and it's now no longer worth the price. Sadly I didn't read the reviews but they are scattered with similar comments. This will be the next local chain to go under. Everyone except the odd tourist will soon realise they're being ripped off.

Great food reasonably priced for Edinburgh. Good fun place.

Used to be one of our favourite burger places. The burgers themselves are still pretty good and there is a wide variety of choice. Unfortunately the sides really let them down, they have halved in size but the cost has remained the same. Paying £6/7 for a very small portion of frozen fries with a sprinkling of parmesan is not good value at all. The kids meals do represent value though. It's a shame they've done this with the sides.

Scams tourist out of money! They put extra fees on the Bill at the end because the want to make extra tips for themself.

I am an Edinburgh local and used to love Bread Meats Bread! The staff are always pleasant and easy to deal with. I appreciate things are expensive, however, the portion sizes for what you pay don't match up. The chip portion we were provided with was impressively small. It is actually quite cheeky to think you can get away with serving such a small portion at a high cost. We sent the chips back and were told that the chip portions are weighed! I will never return to Bread Meats Bread.

We are from North Yorkshire so hadn’t heard of Bread Meats Bread, upon a quick google we realized they are only in Glasgow & Edinburgh, we though it would be worth a visit whilst in Edinburgh for the weekend. We didn’t book, just walked in and were quickly seated. Food menu was a wide range, we ordered and the food arrived in under 10 minutes so it was very quick. I got a doubled up chicken burger, on arrival there was mayonnaise all under my plate I’m presuming from the kitchen so when I took the plate from the waitress I got mayonnaise all over my hand which the waitress did not seem bothered about I had to politely ask for a napkin as I don’t think she was going to get one. Food was lovely but I wouldn’t rush back, not somewhere I thought yes I definitely need to come back here but we are glad we tried it. Sticky toffee pudding was lovely!

Was very excited to see an expansive gluten free menu, including separate friers for all sides. I had the cheesy chicken burger, and it had plenty of flavour. I got the watermelon shugga cocktail and it was the nicest cocktail I’ve ever had. Staff were very friendly! Only complaint is we were sat near a speaker and the music was very loud.

One of the best burgers I've ever eaten, it was delicious, the chips were also tasty and the service friendly and quick. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the side salad was loaded with chillies, there were three different types. There was no warning on the menu that the salad was extremely hot, and I wouldn't have have ordered it had I know as I have a stomach condition, and have to avoid spicy food. Anything that has chillies in should be well signposted. They took the cost of the salad of my bill which I was grateful for.

Popped in here after reading about their gluten-free option in a blog. The burger (bacon and cheese) was really good and the gluten-free bun was superb. Overall, the atmosphere was fine, and the staff were polite and attentive. The only real criticism I have is that the portion size of the chips is really small, especially considering the price. Will probably come back with a 20% off voucher that was presented, but otherwise it's a little bit on the expensive side, clocking in at around £38 for two burgers and two portions of chips.

Truly amazing burgers and outstanding Poutine. Burgers were juicy and full of flavour, and the poutine was along the best I had. The staff were also truly lovely and very attentive. Overall a great experience and I will be thinking of the burger for a while. My only constructive feedback point, is to receive more chips and sauce with the large poutine order, seeing that it comes at a hefty cost of £10. So the size of the dish was a bit of a let down.

Service was good, but then there is a service charge. I loved the fact the staff interacted in a positive manner to some vulnerable adults who were very excited to see Santa. The food though was average for the price, yes it was cooked well but what was a small thin patty, with minimal toppings for the same price as a five guys burger didn't seem great. The chips were well cooked but the curry sauce was luke warm, which then didn't melt the cheese. It was fine, but it's a competitive market out there and I think there are stronger options around. Nice staff, product could be better

Lovely casual food joint with a twist. Like a fast food restaurant but a couple of notches up. We shared a BBQ beef brisket toastie accompanied by a poutine (gravy, cheese curds & gravy). Something a little different and we both had a really good meal to boot

Behind a facade of roadworks, noise and clutter, lies this little burger joint, which serves good burgers, fries and shakes. A particular highlight was the welcoming, service-minded staff, a bunch of young people busying themselves between the tables, getting my food quickly as well as making good recommendations.

Good food. Good service. A disgrace that a 10% discretionary charge is automatically added to the bill. Praying on people who won't confront staff ragarding this out of awkwardness. And an absolute slap in the face that the first thing you see when paying is the option to add ANOTHER tip. And that's with a straight face. One or the other. Although preferably neither. Pay your staff correctly.

A service charge on a burger, Ridiculous.

We came here after reading raving reviews and the meal didn't disappoint. My partner and I had the Posh BMB, the Wolf Burger and the Buffalo Chicken Poutine. The BMB was excellent, perfect amounts of truffle and cheese in a fresh bun with perfectly cooked mushrooms, poutine was amazing with great amounts of sauces and cheese, and the Wolf burger was well flavoured- only thing I would say is that it was a little too bbq flavoured- However, service was great and we will be returning when we come back to Edinburgh.

BMB does insanely tasty burgers using high quality ingredients. Not too greasy and everything was well proportioned and didn't make a mess. The sides were equally flavourful and well seasoned. Burger is the Posh BMB, and sides including kimchi fries, halloumi fries and bacon tots. Highly recommend the kimchi fries

American style hamburger place, good burgers and chips, although "American cheese" melted on my burger basically disappeared. Must have been soooo thin, it just left a very thin layer of yellow colour, but no taste or texture in my "cheeseburger". Music was nice. Staff and service is good.

I ordered from this restaurant through uber eats. It was horrendous and vile to say the least. As ide had food from bread meets bread at the Fort and it was lovely, thought ide treat me and my partner to a wee takeout from here, but to my disgust it was not at all what I expected. We ordered two hogan burgers, a reuben pastrami, bacon tater tots and the rasputin poutine with a oreo milkshake which came to around £77 pound from uber. Isn't exactly cheap. When the delivery driver came they were lovely, they grabbed our order out and then they had realised the restaraunt gave them the milkshake open and it was spilt, not the drivers fault at all as usually restaraunts will cover it with cling film, they didn't even put a single thing to prevent it from spilling and the lid wasn't on properly either. When bringing the order inside I realised that wasn't all that was wrong, the milkshake had a staple in the straw which we never realised till we drank it and my partner has cut his mouth. The reuben pastrami was burnt to a crisp, and the two hogan burgers were as dry as the Sahara desert. The only two good things about this order were the tater tots and poutine, couldn't recommend them enough but honestly I would never order from here again. And to top it off when I phoned I was greeted with an ignorant staff member with a rotten attitude, who had blamed it all on the driver, and uber. But not the drivers fault it wasn't packaged properly, and also not ubers fault the food was vile and there was a safety issue with the milkshake? Never got offered any kind of refund or help for this, so just warning you all. do not order from the lothian Road bread meets bread, go to the Fort.

Visited on a Saturday evening. The staff were all very friendly and the service was fine but we came away disappointed. We felt this was incredibly overpriced for an average burger. The average burger cost between £13-15 and we expected a denser burger in a higher quality bun for that. The portions of chips for £4 or £5 (if they had a topping) were totally overpriced. The toilets were unheated and didn't look particularly clean. Whilst we chose to dine here due to its location in terms of proximity to where we needed to be, I would not return and if I wanted a burger of higher standard and better value for money (especially portions of chips) I would go to Five Guys.

On a trip to Scotland we specifically stopped in Edinburgh to try a burger from this place… it did not disappoint. We had the chicken challoumi burger, the ayia napa burger, chips, gravy, and an Oreo milkshake. Everything was amazing, the food was hot, the sauces in the burgers tasted amazing, just the right amount of sauce too. Shame there isn’t one of these places in Kent… maybe one day!

Portions far too small and prices too high. I paid £13 for a burger and £5 for fries and left hungry. Plus £6.50 for a pint! This never used to be the case but something must have changed recently. I won’t be returning.

Great food. BBQ pulled pork melt and maple bacon fries were amazing. Everyone at our table got different things they all enjoyed.

Ordered delivery on Uber eats because of 2for1 discounts. Two cheeseburgers and two classic fried chicken burgers. Hard to say… for such a discount the prices deserve to it but…I won’t buy these two types of burgers here again for the flat rates. The chicken is juicy and crispy but the burger is dull. Same to the cheeseburger…less flavoured and seasoned. I have to squeeze my own burger sauce to add flavours. There are more local small businesses who serve much better burgers in Edinburgh. BTW, the packaging is so high-quality, I guess theirs prices are spent more on the luxurious packaging.

Nice food, nice staff. But in my humble opinion, 15 quid burgers should come with fries included.

This was my second time here after a disappointing first. Ordered the burger which has doughnuts instead of buns. This burger was incredible. Flavours well-balanced, and so enjoyable. Would highly recommend this burger.
