Excellent steak with a good selection of sizes. 9/12/16oz.

Had the meat combo and empanadas. All very good Lots of food. All tasty, Reasonable price, good service. I definitely recommend.

Far to crammed I couldn't move my arms properly , have dining out tables shrunk in the wash. I remember there being space to move but no .. staff to busy to be attentive but friendly enough , once again gratuities on bill I don't do that we are not America I choose what or if I leave a tip and how much .. I know this is discretionary .. food was lovely though

Very very bad! Not recommended!!! Just terrible! Salad was older than the waiter. If there were negative points, I would have given them to the “restaurant”!!!

Salmon was okay but definitely not worth the price. The salad was old and came completely dry. The sauces tasted like chemicals. The fries were worse than frozen fries. No recommendation!!! Stay away!

We found this place by mistake while walking and looking to get dinner. It is small on entrance and not very large inside. But, the food was spectacular, service was terrific and prices were great. We could not stop raving about this little, hidden gem to friends in Scotland and back here in Canada. A very cool, moody atmosphere. Talking to other customers, they also enjoyed their meals.

We came before a concert in the Usher Hall. No complaints, great food, large portions, came quickly. Would come again if in Edinburgh.

Personally, disappointed overall after seeing Trip Advisor 2023 top diner award. Steak my wife got was slightly warm, almost appeared to be pre-cooked, then warmed to serve. Tender yes, flavorful, not so much. Overall underwhelming.

Worst rib eye steak I’ve ever ate. It took me a while to eat it, as it was very chewy. I ended up giving more than half of mine to my partner. The chips tasted like they were frozen chips and deep fried, very oily. The peppered sauce came in a tiny ceramic pot, that you could only fit a small teaspoon in to. The presentation was disappointing, on a plain white small sized plate with 1 baby plum tomato and a few leaves of lettuce. Not served with onions, mushrooms or grilled tomato, that we usually get complimentary with a steak, here in Ireland. Extremely disappointed.

Amazing service and food. Best well cooked fillet I’ve had in a while. It had the best seasoning and was absolutely tender. Also baked potato with sour cream is great. 450 g of fillet is good enough for 2 people. Special thanks to Chiv and chef Tipu.

Incredible food, fresh and well prepared. If steak isn't your thing, they have some delicious chicken/fish dishes aswell, very generous portions too.

Had chicken which was tasty but nothing special, fries were very good. Big portions. Bit disappointing that they charge 10% service for a bigger group but we could not pay individually (min 30gpb payment)

I had the 350g steak. There was a tremendous amount of fat in it. I realize you need some for taste which was good but, the cutting the fat out every bite was too much. The service was good and prompt. The atmosphere is relaxed. The empanadas are Argentine style.

A lovely place for a meal and well priced. Steak was delicious.

If you want a steak cooked well, and at a great price, go to the Rancho in the West End of Edinburgh. The staff is friendly and makes you feel at home. The steaks are excellent! The Rancho is a wonderful place.

Large group of friends and family (19) visited and none of us were disappointed. The dishes may not be fancy or elaborate but all of us were delighted with what we got. All cooked perfectly and tasted awesome. Only small disappointment was the blue cheese hollandaise sauce which could have been more flavourful. The staff were very attentive and could not have done more for us. I know several of us that are looking to return the future. Keep up the good work.

We came in as last resort but came out out pleasantly surprised. The meat was great, the potatoes and provoleta salad were delicious. The bill was very affordable even after a couple of drinks. A place to come back time and again.

I was just walking by looking for something to take away quickly, I was really impressed by staff member who saw me reading the menu and came out to greet me, food was excellent, service was excellent and atmosphere was excellent. I recommend the prawns!

We had a dinner tonight, for if us, all had different food. I should admit the service was very good and quick and everyone enjoyed their food but me 😄 I'd ordered a ribeye steak and it was nicely flavoured but absolutely tough and I was unable to eat most of it though tried to cut from different parts . My husband's fillet steak was really good and chicken and salmon other had were delicious. But I left unpleasantly surprised with bad quality of mine. The waiter had apologised but we were offered no even little discount and paid the full price although I returned most of my steak. I understand that things like this happen sometimes but how they deal with it make a difference . I definitely expected better experience for £21. Also I should add that tables there are not really big enough for 4 people and sitting were uncomfortable.

Visited here on a week night, was relatively quiet but it’s really small so only needs a few tables for an atmosphere. We had steak/squid combo and whole sea bass, both were good quality and cooked perfectly. Such good value for the price! Already booked to go again 😊

This restaurant is cozy and near Haymarket station. The staff and service is great. Food is delicious. Especially the pork ribs were spot on 🙂

I took my partner here for his birthday, this was our second visit to the steakhouse and yet again we absolutely loved it. The food is just first class and amazing value for money. They went above and beyond for us for his birthday and brought your a cake with a candle for him and it was so so appreciated. We can't wait to return.

We got a quick bite there and the chicken was absolutely amazing. The seasoning was perfect and the meat was so soft it was delicious. Recommend this place 100%

Valentines dinner. We booked late, and the staff could not of been more accommodating. Food was delicious . Large portions . Steak was one of the best either of us have had (rib eye and sirloin). Jacket potato was to die for !! Service was prompt and friendly. Great meal great place.

Popped in here last night as had just travelled 7 hours to get to the city and we were starving. I ordered a rump and was assured that it was a nice cut for a rump and had never had any complaints. Steak was cooked to the requested temp but was the strangest cut style of rump I have ever seen. This looked like it had not be butchered properly. Not trimmed up and felt more like a flat iron steak. I didn’t complain or asked for this to be comped, just didn’t eat much of it. After the plates were cleared the waiter asked why I hadn’t eaten the steak, and I explained quietly. He came back again and advised the chef wanted to know what was wrong with it. So I explained again. He advised he would take the steak off of the bill ( great thanks, didn’t ask you too but Thankyou) He came back and asked again and would not drop the issue. I advised it had not been butchered correctly and was clearly bought in cheap, I asked on all three of our conversations where the meat was brought from but the question was avoided. Very clearly bought in super cheap, probably from bookers, where their chips, onion rings, leaf and sauce are all from. If you actually enjoy a nice steak then I wouldn’t bother going in here. If you like steak at Wetherspoons, this place is for you!!

Lovely experience! The host was brilliant with me and my partner, was even happy to take a picture for us for our memories of the weekend. Steak, lamb chops, and prawns were all cooked brilliantly and my partner loved the chimichurri! Definitely a 10/10 from us, and would recommend anyone looking for lovely food, and a lovely experience, thank you!

I was expecting a lot given the reviews. Instead, our steaks were hard to chew, the salad leaves looked old, and were dry, with no dressing, the mushroom sauce was watery, and the only red wine that you could buy by the glass was a mediocre merlot. Overall, it felt like mass produced cafeteria food, The only thing I enjoyed eating was the house chimchuri sauce. Definitely not worth the money. Was their regular chef on holiday?

Seems to have good reviews but honestly the worst steak i've had. Toliets were really dirty. Staff were friendly enough but honestly awful.

Steak is good and their own house sauce is delicious. We also ask to have some take away of their house sauce. The staff were also accommodating and very friendly.

Rancho steakhouse is the best steakhouse in edinburgh. Food are too delicious and service are too excellent , waiters and waitress are so friendly . We will return soon Rancho.

The steak was tasty and served the way I really wanted. The staffs were very accommodating too. I highly recommend this place.

Overall a good experience, the meat was perfect and the grilled vegetables were also great. A few things are pointing out tho, we ordered sparkling water with squeezed lime, and we're given a few slices of lemon on a saucer, we were told they didn't have a "lemon squeezer" (??). The king prawns were tasty, but they were not cleaned properly.

What can I say. Was excited to try this place. Steak was awful! I had ordered a rump steak cooked Medium when it arrived it was barely rare. Felt like it was cooked my someone who didn't know how to cook steak. I understand these things happen and happily sent it back expecting the temperature to easily be corrected However when it was brought back it was well done in bits medium in others very inconsistently cooked, in addition the outside was charred so when I took a bite it tasted like charcoal, had a side of chips which weren't great either. I must say however staff were helpful and apologetic so can't fault the service. but I left hungry and very disappointed. Would not recommend.

Went here with my wife last night for dinner. I had a mixed grill for 1. It was the best mixed grill that I have had in years! Highly recommend it. Also the mixed side salad and dressing was banging!

Not great at all was a terrible let down. Ordered a filet steak and it came full of fat, I managed to only eat half of it then was asked if i wanted it recooked, recooked? Disaster! Asked for something to be taking off the bill but kept refusing to do so, would NOT recommend this place. Family weren’t able to get dessert as they had lack of dessert options. Utterly Utterly disappointed. will not be going back. Already feeling ill, runied my christmas.

An amazing little steak house. Chose this over a franchise and was the best decision we've made out here. Steak was cooked to perfection and had to tell the whole fam about what a find we made. Service was brilliant also... 5*!

Restaurant environment fine. Staff fine. Beer Fyne....... Son's rump steak ok, chips ok. My ribeye, very poor quality steak, sinew, gristle. Disappointed. Only an honest opinion. Place was busy though. Fri eve.

Firstly just to qualify, if you only pay £25 for a 16oz Rib-eye, you can’t exactly complain about the quality…. ….that said, let’s talk about the quality! Oh it’s poor. Don’t expect a thick cut, dry aged, tender steak, rather a wafer thin, beaten, gristle ridden piece of shoe leather. You won’t need a steak knife, maybe a hatchet. Sauce portion meagre (but it was cheap) Salmon and service excellent!

First time in this restaurant. The staff certainly makes you welcome and are very attentive. Four of us ordered steaks of some description and all came out impeccably cooked. The menu cannot be faulted and I am sure everyone will be taken care of. Price wise it was not over the top. All in all this place is a winner but my only small criticism would be seating is a little cramped.

Rancho is located in the busy West End of Edinburgh. As you can imagine, there is no parking outside the restaurant, but there is on street parking a short 5 minute walk away. The restaurant is cosy and welcoming. It's definitely a small place and may feel slightly cramped when at its busiest ( it was quiet when we dined there ), but I'm sure this would only add to the ambience of the place. The staff are all very friendly, helpful and tentative. Making us all feel very welcome. The menu is varied, with a lot of different options to choose from. As a group, we opted for the chicken wings and spare ribs as our starter and steaks for the main course. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. Steaks come in small, medium, or large size. Large is exactly that ! It's a big bit of meat, so make sure you have an appetite if you order this. Sauces and sides cost extra. For dessert, we ordered cheesecake, sticky toffee pudding, and some ice cream. Again, as we expected, these were all delicious. I can't really fault Rancho. It did what I hoped it would. Served up some very tasty meals that filled us all up. I'd definitely go back for another visit and would recommend the restaurant to others 👍

Ok, so I’m conflicted on this, the steak was great but there were so many other issues. Booked a table, and it hadn’t been made available. Which lead to us queuing in the entrance causing a draft which antagonised customers who made a few issues. Anyway.. moving onto the device it was ok, but nothing to right home about. Then the steak, good quality but the “fries” no, these were chunky chips and when you get a decent sized plate of steak it’s not what you really want. Especially if you’ve got fries in your head.

Locals beware: this place is only getting good reviews from tourists with extremely low standards. The place is honestly shockingly bad if you’re expecting a British steakhouse. Booked a while in advance and turned up to find our table for 9 occupied by 3 people who wouldn’t leave. Food was absolutely awful. Even the bottled soft drinks were somehow flat. Steak wasn’t cooked to anyone’s choosing, rare was medium, medium was well done, well done was rare. Blue cheese sauce was just some instant boiled water mac n cheese sauce. Starters absolutely shocking. Provolone was just a bit of melted tesco cheese with Tesco chilli flakes on top. This is clearly a failed Indian restaurant that has tried to survive by becoming a steak house.

I was very disappointed with my dining experience. I was with a large party on Saturday 30th. My friend ordered a provolone cheese starter, it arrived as just a melted mess on the plate with chilli flakes on top. I ordered a 12oz medium-rare steak with blue cheese sauce. The steak was rare and definitely not 12oz, there was not an ounce of Blue cheese in this sauce. The server told us he had more medium rare steaks to hand out but when another friend said he was waiting on a rare steak, the waiter changed his mind and decided that this once medium-rare steak in his hand is now rare and dumped it in front of him before running off. Overall, it was just an underwhelming experience.

I was visiting Edinburgh & ended up eating here 3 times. The food was great as well as the people. Ruby was our waitress; she was beautiful & extremely nice. I recommend this place highly.

I order 400 gram Rib Eye which was tasty, tender and delicious! Good Service and the price was good. I will be back when here when I visit Amsterdam next time. 5/5!

Easily the best, most affordable steak house in the west end...very small inside, only a few tables but rapid turnover. Steaks delicious. Make reservations early.

Delicious steak and very staff, sometimes it's Aberdeen Angus beef and other times it's South American beef (which is also Angus just fed differently!) In any event, delicious food friendly staff. No nonsense steak house!

Steak wasn't cooked to anyone's actual request, the atmosphere and vibe is non existent and the chips are just cheap oven chips. Very disappointed considering all the positive reviews. Won't be going back sadly.

Turned up at 2.30 as google said It was open but unfortunately it was not, had a drink in the pub next door and they eventually opened at 3.30. Only the chef was there and I think he wasn't expecting people. The food was delicious though and we would return

My partner and I come here very often never disappoint. The price of the steaks is relatively cheap for what you are getting. Definitely recommend.

Tasty steaks but charging £4.50 for a side of grilled tomatoes or mushrooms is over the top. You have to pay extra for everything including sauce for steaks, chips etc. (This was on their Rugby menu yesterday.) Restaurant is very tightly packed so there is little privacy for most of the tables. I don't like being so negative as the staff were very nice and, as I said, steaks were tasty and well cooked.

Wonderful meal at very reasonable prices. Three of us got different steaks and they were all excellent. Grilled calamari was also outstanding!

The steak lived up to the expectation, the starters not so... think the rugby menu limited the choice.

I read the reviews of the place and everyone complimented the food, I had a different feeling, it was a number of people and with all of them we asked for the meat to be moderately juicy, in fact the meat was overcooked. One of the people ordered a hamburger and it turns out that it comes without a bun, only 2 meatballs. It is true that it was written on the seam that we looked at again, but why call the dish a hamburger when it is not. The chips came with no sauces at all, no ketchup or mayonnaise.

Horrific steak, it wasn't cooked to my liking at all. The fries are not French, but chunky ones you get frozen from the supermarket. The atmosphere wasn't ideal for steak dining as it felt really cheap. Ended up feeling unwell afterwards, please avoid.

Came to celebrate my 1 year anniversary. Service was dead quick, received our starters and mains within 20 minutes. Honestly didn't take us long to munch through it. Seating area is comfortable, cosy atmosphere with good tunes in the background. Food was filling and cooked well! Would definitely recommend for any occasion, group outings or romantic dates.

Exceptional mixed grill and salmon, absolutely delicious

Whilst the surroundings may be a little cramped, and the music choice somewhat random, the food is surprisingly good The king prawn starter I had was excellent, and my fellow diners were very happy with the empanadas and the squid. For main courses the steaks were excellent, and I would recommend the smaller choices of steak size as even the medium (e.g. 12oz fillet) were large. The salmon main course could be a little more interesting and the side salads and fries could also be improved, but everyone was happy with their steak. Didn't try any desserts so can't comment there. Good to see Fyne Ales on the (somewhat short) drinks list and the Chilean carmenere was a nice bottle of red.

Came to this restaurant as I was in the area and it had good reviews. But it's not good at all. I had the lomo (fillet) steak which is the most expensive one and it was just a regular steak of a random cut. Not lomo at all. As someone said earlier, the only South American thing in this place is the menu in Spanish and some of the decorations.

I read the reviews and it sounds like a different restaurant. We had empanadas, mixed grill, onion rings, fries, rice and mixed veg. I think everything except the veg was frozen… I don’t know what was South American about the restaurant. I don’t know if they have different owners from the reviews 1 year before my review, but I would never recommend this restaurant after eating there and I wouldn’t go back. I also don’t know how our bill came to £76 for a few sides and we shared our main. Awful

One of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The service is exceptional as is the food. The steaks are always done to your preference perfectly. The staff are always happy and very polite and professional. I would highly recommend it to all meat eaters looking for high quality steaks cooked to perfection.

Hier macht die Küche nicht um 21.30 Uhr zu, so wie beim Griechen und Pizzamann nebenan. Der "Burger" ohne Brötchen? Das ist aber auch schon das einzige, was uns aufgefallen ist. Die Steaks waren auf den Punkt gebraten.

So disappointed with this place. It had great reviews but it was awful. My main meal was two grilled pieces of chicken with a tiny bit of salad. I couldn’t eat it. The garlic sauce was terrible we didn’t touch it. The kids ordered burgers which looked like they came from a box. In total the meal cost over a £100 and Mc Donalds would have been more tasty. I would not recommend this place.

Really enjoyed my meal here, got the grilled chicken with fries and a side of grilled vegetables, the chicken was very well flavored and the staff was very friendly!
