New Tong Fung in Reigate and Banstead

New tong fung Redhill. Iv reviewed this place before. And had a few negative comments to make on the level of service we received. Happy to say this is no longer the case. The Chap that severed us was very polite and chatty. Really nice guy. Food was excellent, as per usual. Great Chinese food with no complaints to make. Value for money was exceptional. 4 off us had sharing platter to start, then 1/2 duck and pancakes to share and then all had a large main dish, plus beer and wine. £130 total. Great value at £30 ish per head. My 4 star overall review is broken down by, 5 star food, 5 star service. But only 2 start for the atmosphere. The restaurant seems to be set up primarily as a takeaway as we were the only people eating in that night. Not much care taken to create a restaurant vibe. Seems like they don’t often have people eat in. No music ect. But a good experience overall, just needs a lick off paint and some more attention to the dinning in side offf things. But can’t fault the food, and that’s the main reason to eat out. Had a great evening.

What a wonderful place to discover 5 minutes walk away! The food was so yummy, fresh tasting, crispy, generous portions and reasonably priced. Felt like going out for dinner in the 90s and 00's, in a good way! Lovely friendly staff, great beer, we had the TsingTao which is crisp and refreshing. I recommend this restaurant 100%

Been coming here for years, and it keeps getting better. Had a take away, which you can now order online. Shredded beef, sweet and sour chicken, chow mien, usual stuff Great meal. Really quick. Thanks.

Lovely meal at great Chinese restaurant we hadn't been there in years now been twice in a month food was lovely and hot and good size portions the Staff are very friendly we will be back chicken chow mein bbq ribs mini spring rolls curry sauce with peas and onion and a few other bits

Have dined there twice and also had food delivered twice. The lady working there is quiet but nice! Most of the food is really tasty and comes out quickly.

Not sure on time zones operating in this restaurant but ot appears to close at 9pm and not 10pm; which is strange on a Friday evening when compared to other restaurants in the area. Disappointed that upon arrival at 9pm, we were told that they were closed so we had no option but to find another restaurant. Given that this is the only Chinese restaurant with sit-in availability in Redhill, this is more than disappointing. We won't be trying here again and will instead use the delivery availabile from Peach Blossom, which is amazing.

Dined in, had the set meal for 2, about 10 minutes waiting time. Food was hot and freshly cooked, tasty without being over spiced, and reasonably priced. Friendly and helpful staff, great service. Recommended.

Diabolical and expensive. I will not be going back there. Nothing good to say about this place! It cost me a lot of money for bowl of noodles and bean sprouts. £4.50 for a half pint of that watery Chinese beer. At least Dick Turpin wore a mask 🤣

Shocking!!!!! Normally use gourmet wok in Reigate but shut, ordered my meal, when the knock at the door came 15 min later was more concerned about how quick it was, not an expert but can you cook and deliver freshly prepared food in that time?obviously not, egg fried rice not fried, boiled into a mass blob unable to seperate!! Good for plastering not eating. Beef curry, meet un-eatable, bland no taste. The first and the last time i ever use this restaurant. Plenty of one star reviews not worth the piont on one star, should think about trying something else for a living not sure i will be in the morning

Reading through the reviews on here and I’m actually shocked at the one star ratings. This is by far the best Chinese in redhill. I’ve had take away and dined in here and I can’t complain. The food is amazing and reasonably price and the staff are super friendly. I don’t understand why this restaurant isn’t packed every weekend. Maybe all these bad reviews have turned people off. If you’re reading this and looking for good Chinese food then this is the place to go. Thanks to all the staff and we look forward to coming back again.

When the need for Chinese food strikes, New Tong Fung won't disappoint. Great for takeaway or eating in if you're not wanting glamorous surroundings. Food that won't break the bank. Ample portions. 👍

Always so incredibly rude. "Cash only" and the standard is high variance. Fine if you order rice or noodle dishes, but some of the meats leave a lot to be desired!

Unfortunately we didnt get to taste the food here as the lady who greeted me on entrance was shockingly rude! I eventually ended up walking out during the process of ordering after the lady started shouting at me to hurry up they were closing soon! (In 40 minutes). A shame really, as after a 12hr shift I was hungry and my family at home were really looking forward to a nice Chinese meal on NYE. Ended up with Pizza, least the service was better!

For delivery I can give 5 stars that was quick,but for food not more than 2 stars. The food was without taste, egg fried rice no taste and found there 5 tiny pieces of egg in the whole portion. Chicken in black bean sauce and yellow bean sauce was without taste and vedgetable were added raw without having cooked or sautayed before. Chicken in the sauces was before boiled and pieces added in the sauce because the chicken was tasteless.The same was with the cashew nuts just added on the top. Specil Chow main noodles were not edible,plain taste meat was like chewing gum and no taste at all.Will never ever order again,and definetly don't recommend .

The worst customer service in the world. Not only was delivery late, they forgot half of our order they also messed up the half they did send. An absolute shambles. Asked for no mushrooms due to an allergy and they called us liars when we called them to say there was mushrooms in it. And then after checking with the chef that there is indeed mushrooms in it. When calling them to ask about it they kept putting the phone down so had to keep continuously ringing them. Refused to give us a refund and the manager refused to come on the phone to us. I Will NEVER order from them again. I would choose zero stars however that’s not an option unfortunately.

This is our go-to Chinese for delivery - when we have cash on us - or take away (we use them much less now that they are cash only for deliveries). Consistently good quality food, deliveries always arrive piping hot. Pricing is consistent with the local area. There's only been one mistake with our order in four years of using them which is fantastic going as we'll have used them close to a hundred times. I would love to see more imaginative vegetarian/vegan options and an online ordering system, app or for them to join just eat to allow for card payments for deliveries.

impressed with first visit here. Best Chinese food we've had in the area. Pork chow mein and duck were not greasy at all. Lemon chicken was really lemony, you need to experience it to understand. Strange to have no music but suited us fine and waitress was on hand but stayed away until we needed her which we liked. For me, the food was excellent quality.

It is absolutely disappointed. As we used to go to New Tong Fung most of the time and the disappointment was they don't do Buffet anymore. I think this restaurant will losing all the loyal customers. In the future...We will have to find other restaurants for our Christmas party dinner.

It is a shame. New Tong Fung Chinese restaurant in Redhill, does not do their usual buffet anymore, phoned up to book a table for 6 people and the lady said NO MORE buffet available due to government rules after reopen on the 4th July. We are disappointed. Luckily a friend found another Blue Lake Chinese restaurant do buffet Horley and we went last night. The foods are good and the staffs really polite. We had an wonderful meal and we be coming back for more also for up coming birthday, gathering and Christmas.

First class presentation of all our dishes, All our food was cooked to perfection, we decided to go for the Buffet meal and yes its expensive if you don't have a large appetite, We are small eater's who like to have a varied meal so that it never gets boring and that's just what this menu offers we managed to get through a fair few dishes and really enjoyed them all, Fully recommend that you give it a try.

Food is superb as takeaway. Interior is really something awful I would never sit in unfortunately. It's cold and a bit pants. The food however is so good! You would be better to turn into a smaller restaurant or a takeaway tbh

Felt welcoming, very good service. We had the variety buffet, very well presented and the variety is amazing, tastes really good... Will definitely be returning.

We went here with all the family for a special birthday - there were 13 of us and as usual we were made very welcome. The service is excellent and the staff are patient with small children, who find it difficult to sit still for a long time; they can also be a bit messy!

If I could give it minus stars I would. Placed a simple order of chicken chow mein, Kung po chicken and plain rice for the wife me and a 7yr old Was the food good? No idea, went in and picked up my takeaway, walked the 15 minutes home and had 3 rice dishes Called and complained and said I'd walk back down for a refund When I got there the owner told me I hadn't walked back with the dishes so no refunds are available, the lady that I spoke to on the phone agreed she had offered a refund and had not asked me to walk the 3 rice dishes back But no, just got horrible service from the owner

Absolutely great food, but the decor is very dated. Waitress was very friendly and helpful. We had the buffet and I was glad they only allow you to order the next meal once the food you have already ordered is eaten... this saves wasting food.

I used to visit this place about 3+ times a month for lunch as its close to work and today is the final day. every single time I have gone here its empty (once there was 1 other table occupied - they probably didn't come back). each time they don't have the heating on and its freezing (its been snowing and still no heating). there is a older waitress there who can be quite blunt and at times it feels like you are annoying her however we don't usually let it bother us. aside from the decor being very dated, half of the menu they never have but they still provide the same menu. funny they never have boiled rice but always egg fried, this makes me think that they are using old rice that maybe they serve for the takeaway in the evening as egg fried takes longer than boiled so clearly its not fresh! i always order the sweet and sour chicken as when friends have ordered other meals such as chicken curry, the texture of the chicken seems to be suspicious, extremely soft and gummy but the sweet and sour seems to be a different texture. Today the staff were having phone calls on loudspeaker in the middle of the restaurant, my friend used the loo and the soap was literally water (not hygienic) and to put the cherry on top we were advised that today is the last time we can take our food away with us if we haven't finished it! firstly if im paying for a meal the WHOLE meal is mine, so i asked if i bring my own container can I then take the food away, i was told no if you don't finish its not their problem. I'm sorry but i never finish my meal in one sitting i eat slowly and have a limited time for lunch so i always have left overs for later, secondly if i cant take my own food with me what are you doing with my leftovers? putting them in other peoples takeaway order? throwing it away? considering they tend to want to do things in the restaurant as cheaply as possible while keeping customer costs high, makes me believe that they are re-using the left overs which is absolutely unacceptable. we simply go here out of convenience the food is average at best and to be treated in this way is why i wont return and i do not recommend anyone else to bother trying. clearly your doing so great that you can turn away paying customers so that you can keep your invisible ones happy or maybe they all just froze to death...

Best Chinise I’ve had was spot on highly recommended a visit . Goodd wine and vodka but ran out. Advice given pop to shop next door buy more wine and vodka and still charge your own prices just business sense customer don’t need to know 😜 just smile and present. Hope to return very soon.

Was trying this take away out for the first time. The food was extremely fresh and delicious but my only slight criticism was that we had to wait quite a while just to take our order. Perhaps more staff just dedicated to answering the telephone...;o).mind you all good things come to those who wait....and our meals were lovely.

We had the all you can eat buffet the food was fine the staff were okay the only thing was the phone kept ringing for takeaway orders which was annoying.

So I took my mum out for a Chinese to celebrate some fantastic news we had just received. I have been using this restaurant for a long time for take always and going out a few years back I would have given it 5 stars but now I give it 3 1st star for the food: it’s always fresh, hot and delicious. 2nd star for the service: the waitress always does her best to please you she can be abit hard work at times but overall she is a great person 3rd star for overall experience: it’s nice to actually find a restaurant that is nice I did however take a couple of stars off. Simply because the price. Every time I go there the price goes up. It’s not a bad thing for quality you’re getting however they have changed the menu and as the eat in is never really busy I don’t think that continued price increaese are a way to draw in customers. Overall this is a great place to eat and I would highly recommend it! And I will be continue to go back. As long as the price remains no more than £20 per person

We frequently have take away's or visit this restaurant. Not everyone in our family likes onions and they are always happy to take this out of the meal when we order. Staff are always helpful and the food is prepared fresh and quickly. We don't really visit any other Chinese restaurant locally and are happy with this our local Chinese

Gave up on Chinese take out as was always problems. But decided to give this place a try... So glad i did. Food came hot.. Tasted fresh and yummy. Will be using again for sure.

Great food and good friendly service but unfortunately the children's prices don't make any sense. It's says on the menu children under 150cm are £10 and children under 90cm are free. I had my 8 year old and 9 year old with me but was charged an adult price for my 9 year old as she is slightly tall for her age but is only 135 cm tall. I argued this but was told I had to pay an adult price. She was under 150cm as stated on the menu plus I thought that under 12s payed children's prices. I think they probably only ate a child's meal between them anyway. For that reason I won't be returning.

We visit here regularly, especially when we have all the family as we all like Chinese. My favourite is beef with spring onions and cashew nuts. The lemon chicken is a favourite with others. I love the fish tank with its variety of fish - mesmerising to watch while waiting for food

Fui con tres amigos para el año 2017 China nueva. El restaurante le faltaba signos de las festividades, pero no estábamos allí para eso. Por menos de 20 libras cada uno, nos dieron un excelente "todo lo que pueda comer. Hay un pequeño cargo si re-orden sin aclarar qué hay en su plato. La decoración no es genial, pero la comida es maravillosa, servido con amabilidad y sin prisas. Los inodoros podrían colocar. Volveremos

If your thinking about ordering a takeaway from this Chinese don't waste you're time as it won't come anyway! They will leave you to starve! This establishment just so happened to "lose" my order. I was told it was to be half and hour to 45mins but it was a Saturday night so we allowed an hour, when it got to an 1 hour 30mins I rang to enquirer where my food was. They had completely forgotten/missed it. This is human error but they was completely unapologetic about it and said we will make it and you only have to wait half an hour. I was also told to appreciate that they was very busy. I'm sorry but the only thing I should have appreciated was the food not the fact that someone there is obviously incompetent! The service I received was extremely poor they was not apologetic and didn't even seem to care! Well if they are so busy there they won't miss the businesses off me!

Raro para llevar a mi familia a cenar. Nunca había estado aquí antes, así que les llamé y me dijeron que el todo se puede comer menú había subido en el precio de £18.50 por persona que muy noche! Sin amilanarse fuimos por nosotros 6. Destacaría la decoración es anticuada y había otro 2 mesas ocupadas en un restaurante muy cansados. La camarera era joven y amable, sin embargo había una señora que no sé cómo sonreír, sin embargo sabe cómo llevar nuestro pedido y nos dio lo que queríamos. La comida comenzó a venir y nos dieron un montón de entrantes calientes aunque grasienta y grasos - quizás la puedes comer de todo, es una mala elección porque hay una abundancia de comida que se convierte en más grasienta y más grasienta más comer. Siguiente vino pato crujiente que es realmente la altura de grasienta, enorme pila de todo listo triturados, que me hizo pensar que este debe de venir en pre-preparados. Luego tuvimos los principales, que no pedimos una fantástica oferta de como nos divertimos mucho de todo lo demás. Finalmente a las 10.30 no estoy seguro si la camarera había conseguido mayores disgustados con nosotros pero sin ella apareció con la factura y explicó lo estaban cerrando, así que por favor nos podría asentarse.

No sé por qué este restaurante es una categoría tan baja en su listado. Sólo puede suponen que mayores críticas son derribarlo.
