I wouldn't normally complain but tonight's meal was terrible. Husbands ribs were over cooked, chips were cold and hard, and the so called scampi was slimy and undercooked. It wasn't even scampi, I hate to think what fish it came from. It all went in the bin

Food was lovely & hot, rice cooked exactly how I like it. The chowmein however was awful 😖 wasn't like any I've ever had before.

Can't really comment on the food as I didn't get as far as ordering once I noticed the online prices are much more then the menu they posted through my door! Shame really as they lose custom doing that.

My wife and I fancied a takeaway following a return from a winter holiday, however our usual Chinese and Indian takeaways were closed. My wife spotted New Shanghai via a web search and we thought we would try somewhere new...and we were impressed. The website we ordered through suggested the order would be with us within the hour, however it arrived just 20 minutes after ordering, and given we live the opposite end of town, that's pretty fast. The lady who delivered the order was very friendly and cheerful. The food was plentiful and tasty...we ordered General Tso's Chicken, House Special Curry and a large Thai Fried Rice...the dishes were nicely spicy with fresh chilli pieces in the rice and a spicy sauce with the General Tso. Not only was it great food, but they provide free prawn crackers with orders over £10 and they also gave us a Chinese wall calendar for the New Year in with the bag. I was impressed. I am sure we will use New Shanghai again, based on this first order.

Awful meal. Starting off with being charged 50p to order of their own website and collect paying with cash. Food ready and in a bag when I arrived 10 mins early so only lukewarm. Spring rolls in batter and mainly bland beansprouts. The shrimp chow mein should have been called chow mean as 5 shrimps! Go elsewhere . Sad as used to be okay. Maybe it has changed hands?

To be honest flavors and food was beautiful my only complaint was as being a lover of spicy food In my order I asked for special curry an could it be made extra hot what I got was lovely flavors but borderline if u would call it a curry even with the xtra sliced chilli in it just didn't have any punch not what I would call a curry even if u like them milder apart from that food was very nice

So disappointed, always use as lovely but tonight ordered at 5.30pm and was told 1 hour wait. Rang at 7pm as still not arrived and was told they were busy and would be another 30/50 minutes. If I was told they were busy when I placed the order I'd have arranged something else.

Must excellent Chinese food. Very good value for money and you get alot of food for your money. Recommended if your in Lowestoft

spot on, lovely REAL meat and cooked to perfection, chips crisp yet not dry or greasy and delivery was spot on estimate and driver friendly. can not fault, even the egg fried rice was the best i have ever had. will be using again and again.

So sad to say that our chinese tonight was really not too great...chow mein was over cooked and slimey, rice tasteless and the curry sauce was so watery and bland plus the veggie spring rolls were soft and squishy. I didnt eat mine at all but luckily daughter was so hungry that she did...really disappointed

I'm always happy with the food and service here, New Shanghai aren't very expensive and they are always very friendly to deal with and the food is delicious everytime. I've never had a problem with collection or missing food. Brilliant all round 10/10

Me and my partner have been getting our Chinese from new shanghai now for about a year. We have tried many other Chinese’s in lowestoft including the one in corton and golden Phoenix and this tops them both! Their food is always hot, fresh and tasty! It’s never greasy and so flavourful! I rarely leave reviews on here but I had to for these guys as they deserve it! Don’t believe the old reviews, you won’t be disappointed with this Chinese! Big portions and good value for money. If you also like veg spring rolls, they do the best ones I’ve ever tasted! Not the cheap frozen ones that normal Chinese’s do, I’m sure these are home made! Give them a try!! Family run and delivery is always quick! Thankyou new shanghai, we will always return to you! 💗

order was over 30 minutes late and some of the order was incorrect. i ordered a bottle of diet coke and received a can of normal coke. the crispy shredded beef was poor and swimming in sweet and sour sauce.

Chicken curry had a ridiculous amount of onion, and I like onion! Way too much. Made the texture odd, and spoiled the food a little. Nice flavour, just too much onion.

Got our drinks order wrong. The schenzen duck tasted like gravy on duck so was a little disappointed but the roast pork chow mien and egg rice were lovely :)

I usually use this Chinese.. it’s usually pretty good.. but today i’m Absolutely appalled. The food arrived 55 minutes early from my requested delivery time (ordered for after my daughter was in bed), but yet it was stone cold. The salt and pepper chicken was tough, cold and pretty much flavourless. The Salt and pepper chips were soggy, stale and with hardly any seasoning... the rice was okay other than the temperate. The chicken curry was the only thing that was actually hot, although didn’t have the spice it usually does. I’m thoroughly disappointed. It was almost like I’d left a Chinese out overnight and reheated it the next morning :(

The satay source tasted like water, the chips were pretty much stone cold. I didn't ring up due to waiting over nearly 2 hours for delievery in the first place.

Have had before from here, been ok, but the shredded beef was like twigs, way too crispy,too thin, spoilt it really.

What let them down was the bbq sauce for some reason it was very watery and thin with rather a extra sugery taste, The rest of the food was great.

Everything was hot and the delivery driver was lovely. I would say all the food or most of it was very bland, I didn’t feel it matched up to other Chinese restaurants I’ve ordered from. The Satay sauce lacked true flavour, you could tell by its colour, none or lack of peanuts and there was nice spice to it either. The chow mien was rather salty and I didn’t taste the sauce it was in, there was just no where near enough flavour for me. The chips were crispy and hot, could perhaps do with a pinch of sea salt and a little shake. The ribs tasted weird for me, I’ve had a lot of Chinese ribs and these just didn’t have that normal taste I don’t know why though, could be different meat that I’m used to etc. The crispy fried sweet chilli beef was lovely, not many restaurants get it nice and crispy, I really enjoyed it, I do think the sauce it was in should be a bit thicker as it had the consistency of water. My food did arrive earlier than expected a bit too early and sometimes having your food arrive to early makes you wonder whether it was cooked all from fresh. Apart from what I’ve pointed out I think if you add more flavour into your cooking, you could do really well. The delivery man was lovely as well.

Little bit disappointed. Food was nice but not hot. Was 30 mins late. Delivery driver only offered £5 change when he needed to give us £6.80. Luckily we managed to give him correct money. Would normally give a tip but not when it was so late.
