We went to this restaurant because the reviews were mostly positive. The service was good, until the nice waiter offered us shrimp chips to wait. Naively we said yes, but be careful it's not free (like in all Asian restaurants to date), they won't tell you that it's not free (it's £4). The food arrived literally 2 minutes after we ordered. It was OK but nothing more, and the dishes were lukewarm or even cold. For 2 we had 4 siu mai, white rice, a beef dish, fried pork noodles and a fried vegetable dish. The dishes were small but enough for 2, but the prices were excessive. We paid £56 for all of this, or €66. Honestly, I advise you to go elsewhere if you want to eat good Asian food and not just basic dishes.

Was craving (what I call) Cantonese style crispy chow mein. Searched lots of reviews and menus and found New Loon Fung does them. So we ordered two, the Beef and vegetables crispy noodles and the Seafood crispy noodles. SOoo good 😋 Apparently they are just called crispy noodles, not chow mein. Also had the dim sum selection which was nice. The pork dumplings were just ok. Great service. Very very friendly staff and quick service. I'll be back. My belly is happy.

I went to ‘New Loon Fung’ today because of Rick Stein. Best Dim Sum I ever had. The staff are very warm. 4x4 bamboo steamers and 2 pots of Jasmine Tea £23. Probably enough for 2 but I didn’t have breakfast. Chinatown/Soho one of my favourite parts of London. I’ll be back 🇨🇳 🥟

Went there as part of a couple. The tables are very close together but in a way that worked well and it didn’t feel like we were overheard. We ordered dim sum, crispy duck and pancakes, sea spiced vegetables and prawn fried noodles. Plus a bottle of warmed sake. Everything arrived promptly, was delicious and we were never pressured to give up our table even though they were exceedingly busy. The staff were efficient and friendly, without being intrusive. Would definitely come back again.

It was okay, the meatballs were smelling very weird and the taste was hardly bearable.. I'm not sure it was okay as we have shared them and I only had 1.. Lemon chicken tasted like not chicken, too much of a cover around chicken .. Pretty fast food service attitude, quick service to serve the next clients, quite busy and noisy(no surprise here)).. But quite almost begging for the tip.. It was the 1st time when I could hear 2 times in a row proposing to include the tip..😂 Rather a bit rude.. Good for fast food.. Advice: Don't insist on the tips.. Make better beef meatballs..🙌🏽

I ordered a dish of chicken fried noodles. The dish was huge I’ll give them that but the noodles were greasy and lacked flavor. And the chicken was hard to find, the entire dish had maybe 5 pieces of chicken tops. I don’t know what’s with these restaurants and charging so much for a dish when it’s mostly noodles that cost maybe 2£ and are so scimpy with the meat. They served raw dim sum!! Used to be really good, but the quality of the food has dropped. The dim sum was bland and one was still raw! My friends and I all bit into raw prawns!!! When we told them they barely reacted. Couldn't care less!! Noodles were soggy and in the wrong sauce. The seafood dish was overcooked and chewy. Half the serving staff were very rude. Atmosphere was rushed and table and chairs were so close and very squished into the space. All for a premium price. Sadly will not be going back again.

This has been my families go to dim sum place for years. The quality and service has hugely declined and today's experience marked the last visit there ever. Never have we ever not finished a plate of noodles, the crispy seafood noodles was bland, seafood rubbery and over cooked. Fried dim sum soaked in oil. Steamed dim sum was raw, had to send back and asked twice for it to be replaced. Service was rude, rushed. We paid out of respect from the years of going but absolutely will not be returning. Terrible service, unbelievably rude waiters. Wanted to order the “stir-fried scallops with seasonal greens” and asked the waiter what greens they had in at the moment: “It’s as it says, seasonal greens.” “Ok, what are the greens this season?” “I just told you, it’s seasonal greens. It’s whatever vegetables the chef has in that day.” “No problem, do you know what greens the chef has in today?” “No, it’s seasonal.” Regrettably went with it anyways and was served scallops that were far from stir-fried and almost definitely boiled, covered in some strange slimy sauce on a bed of overcooked pak choi — all for £17.80. When ordering, the waiter also got incredibly irate when I asked him the difference between crispy aromatic and peking duck, as these terms are often used interchangeably and their menus don’t have any descriptions. He said the former was shredded and the latter sliced, and when I asked him if there was any difference in how it was cooked, he proceeded to lean over the table and shout in my face the fact that one was deep-fried and the other roasted. It’s almost like they don’t want you to order their food.

After sitting down I asked if their set menu A was gluten free baring the pancakes. Their waiter said it was so we ordered it After it arrived I asked a different staff member if any of the sauces they’d provided were gluten free Cue the panic from the staff as the duck was marinated in gluten soy sauce After a 15 minute talk with staff as they try to work out what actually is gluten free as their whole set menu apparently contained gluten Having to reorder, and settle for a chicken dish with no flavour and was very underwhelming And instead I’d paying £12.50 a head we ended up having to pay over £45, almost twice the price. And that’s after they put on a discount If I was celiac rather then just intolerant their first staff would have caused me serious medical issues. As it is I know I’m going to be very ill tomorrow from the small amount of duck I ate before i asked Not happy at all There’s no excuse for staff for staff not to know about basic allergens! Service was rude. First, I asked for water and they said bottled or tap? I said tap and that triggered an aggressive upsell that ended in me getting tea instead. Then when we received our food we had an extra plate. I immediately let the server know we didn't order it. He insisted I did because of a circle the waitress drew around another item that I ordered which confused them. I gave up trying to convince him and I tried to reason with another server because if the waitress circled every item then why was there only 1 circle for those 2 items? She also accused me of making the mark and instead of escalating things further I gave up and paid for the extra item. This could easily have been avoided by having a separate pen color for the servers and customers. Also, repeating the order to the customer before placing it is common practice. I highly recommend trying one of the many other options in the area because the dim sum was average and NOT WORTH THE FRUSTRATION.

Stopped for food here in Chinatown after a show. There was so much choice but this was one of the higher rated places It's a touristbtrapbareq so prices are high. You could pay much higher than this. We had the hors deurves sharer for two plus the capitol ribs, some pork dumplings, crispy shredded beef and some rice. The rice is the same price as the tsongtao beer £4.50 so be prepped for it. I had two beers and we tried some Chinese tea. It was a needed meal and was fairly pleasant, not the best Chinese you'll ever have but it was quite good. The staff are not rude but they are very robotic because of the high demand and super fast pace of the area They don't have much time to hang around. All good was cooked well enough and consumed without a sense of dread. Large amount of seating inside up the stairs. Would stop again with more people in the party. Bill came to about £67. We had a great experience at New Loon Fung Restaurant in Chinatown, London. The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The restaurant spans three floors and even has an accessible lift for those who need it, making it convenient for all guests. Our meal started with the delicious chicken and sweet corn soup, followed by an array of dumplings that were both delicate and flavorful. The chicken buna was a standout dish, along with a variety of noodles, egg fried rice, and several curry options. Each dish was bursting with authentic flavors and cooked to perfection. The staff encouraged us to use chopsticks to immerse ourselves in the Chinese tradition. However, understanding that we were not accustomed to using them, they kindly provided knives, forks, and spoons without any fuss. The portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable, offering excellent value for money. Conveniently located next to the renowned Loon Fung Asian grocery store, the restaurant spans several floors. We were seated at the top, enjoying the excellent service that was attentive yet unrushed. Our family group was on our way to the theatre and, once informed of this, our waiter made sure that our dishes arrived promptly and that any additional orders (such as for drinks, given that it was a hot, humid day) were quickly taken and fulfilled. A deceptively spacious restaurant over 3 floors, unusually has a purple carpet. Not the most up to date decor but clean and tidy and after all I went for the food not the interior design. If you are looking for Traditional Hong Kong dishes this is the place to be. On this occasion we went as a three, but my daughter loves there Beef Udon Noodles and visits at least in e a week. As a northerner I think the prices are reasonable - I have certainly paid more for similar in Manchester. We had a very good Hot and Sour soup with bags of depth and flavour, Cantonese fillet beef (on the menu as mandarin sauce as the language not the fruit), chilli prawns, Singapore Vermicelli and of course the Beef Udon. 4 Bottle beers. Total £120 with tip. Friendly and attentive service, quick service too if you have a train to catch! A great place to drop in after a Show and the street has a great atmosphere. Give it a go.

We've tried New Loon Fung restaurant several occasions over the past year for both their popular dim sum options and dinner and we can't say our group, friends and family members were impressed and can recommend them confidently. Whilst it's spacious, airy and with multiple stories once inside, the decor is much dated and not the most inviting. Service is also quick, attentive and direct but staff tend to be a bit distant and not the most patient. However, our issue is that main portion sizes are smaller than what we're used to expecting even for Chinatown - even the beef ho fun and most meat dishes look like they're just about enough for a small serving for one. We have given this place a few generous chances and want to appreciate the new owners' hard work in terms of management, food and operations which they have mentioned online but will no longer be coming back or can recommend them.

Have come several times for dim sum which you can never get wrong in the heart of Chinatown but unfortunately their dinner set menus are not even close to the quality of lunch (where we've previously enjoyed roast duck, fried noodles, soup noodles etc). We ordered a 4 person set menu which was shared across 6 people. The positives was that the portion sizes were generous and they also provided extra pancakes for the crispy duck but unfortunately other than this, food was under seasoned and incredibly dry. Sadly, I'd highly recommend only for lunch but may need to give it a miss for dinner next time

The food and service were ok. The place was clean and cozy. Our problem came with the bill, they had added the service charge and expected us to pay it. What they are legally supposed to do is tell the customer they apply it. There should be two total on the one with the SC and one without so the customer has the choice. When I mentioned this to the waiter he got very rude and sarcastic, said if I didn't want pay the SC then I shouldn't have come in the restaurant and I'd be better in Macdonald's!!! Or eat in the street!! I have never been spoken to like by restaurant staff before....

Everything ok until the bill, instead of telling the customer about service charge as they legally supposed to they added to the bill, when I mentioned that paying SC is only a customer choice, the waiter became very angry rude and sarcastic!! Told us we shouldn't have come into the restaurant, we should eat on the street or go Macdonald's!!! Very rude man indeed

Dimsum came promptly, recommend the egg tarts, cheung fun, ravioli in chilli oil and ham sui kok (savoury fried mochi dumpling). Was here for the roast pork puff pastry, sad that they ran out when we were there in the early afternoon, which they did not inform until we asked if they missed our orders. Price wise it is on a good side with platters going below £5 per plate. Wouldn't say it's the best but it is a good place to satiate your dimsum craving and have a feel of the Hong Kong dim sum experience.

Lovely place and great service. Only 4 stars for atmosphere as it was very quiet for lunch service, thought it would be packed considering the fantastic quality of food. Definitely will be returning.

The aromatic crispy duck with pancakes is really great, loved that. But as far as the food goes, that's also where it stops. The fried rice is quite dry, and the chow mein was dry (the noodle itself was not springy if you get what I mean) yet oily (coating that it was stir fried in). That wasn't the worst actually, the kailan (gai lan) drenched in oil was... it had the ginger and garlic flavour for sure, but it couldn't have been any oilier and lots of pieces were still hard/undercooked. The place itself looks ok but never have I seen other tables being broken down while people are still eating. I must say we were treated nicely by the waiters though... For that price however.... it's not worth it...

PLEASE DON'T COME!!!!!!!!! VERY AWFUL, ATTITUDE WAS TERRIBLE!!!! Don't do any favors!!! The waiter has a bad attitude!!!! He yells and shouts, urging us to place orders. We are so busy on Sundays and are not allowed to place additional orders. The food is of poor quality and the dim sum is hard to eat. The fried dumplings are not fried properly and are served frozen to you. I would not recommend them at all, it’s so rubbish!!!

Fantastic food every time we go, great service and atmosphere. Being up and away from street level it is not too noisy despite its fantastic location, they don't put the tables too close together so you can have a relaxed and tasty meal as a couple or with friends!! It is me and my partners favourite restaurant in London!

This is one of the oldest Cantonese restaurants run by old Hongkongers in London Chinatown. Food is authentic & true to good old fashioned Hong Kong traditions. We are always able to order some of the more unusual & home-styled dishes here. Service is courteous & prompt. Also unlike a lot of other places, dim sums are made in-house rather than bought frozen in bulk. The only snag is possibly deco which I must say can be a little more elegant or up-scale.

I've been coming here for well over 30 yrs, it used to be a few doors down when it was called Harbour City. This is where I come for Sunday dim sum and its become a family tradition, we have big get togethers, this time 15 of us for a birthday celebration and we never have to worry, the food is reliably good everytime and we are able to relax as lovely dishes arrive whilst we catch up and enjoy ourselves. It couldn't be better.

I’m not one to write reviews, but on this occasion I will. Quite frankly this restaurant isn’t even worth 1star *sigh* DON’T spend your money here. One particular staff member being very rude towards the friends I was fine dining with. Her tone was very rude and aggressive and even stormed off 1/2 down ChinaTown when all my friend asked was if they had “Diet Coke” (Unbelievable?!) Then when it came to the service charge, I told the lady to take off the service charge as I believe the service was not up to high standards at all. She tried to say it wasn’t allowed😑 anyways she took it off in the end after trying to argue with me and my friends. Food is very medicore, the duck was…. too crispy, but really good if you want to break your teeth. Decor is a time capsule back to the 1980s, rude staff members…the list goes on and on

Really enjoyed the dim sum and roasted meats. Good value too and food was brought out in good time. Nice variety on the menu, looking forward to trying other dishes on the main menu. Thanks!

I had an excellent experience at Wagamama on Sunday 22/9! The service and was an outstanding host. My host was not only attentive and professional but also extremely friendly, making sure we felt welcomed and well taken care of. I look forward to coming back, especially with such good service.

I think this place might have closed now. I tried 4/5 to order over the phone then I went down in person but the place was closed. Feel sad that they've closed. Used to enjoy their food

I strongly advise to avoid this place...the staff are incompetent. No card payment facility. The ATM didn’t dispense correct cash. The drinks are awful and the food is terrible at best ! Carlton Lounge is much better for Shesha and food and is in a much better setting, this place is more of a make-shift smokers den at the back of your garden...
