This honestly, was the worst experience at a restaurant I have had in years. I returned my food to the kitchen, and I do not know that I've ever done that. We arrived, only to be greeted by a frosty waitress who did not say a word whilst she sat us down, nor did she attempt any form of small talk, or even to be polite whilst asking for our order. The food arrived within 4 minutes, questioning the freshness of any of the dishes, all before our drinks arrived (which were nice, I will give credit where it is due). The food however, was not nice. All dishes were too salty (except for the edamame beans which didn't actually have any flavouring), and the sauces were lumpy and barely resembling how they were described. After waiting 10 minutes for a check back, and a further 20 minutes until we had to ask for the bill, we paid for the remainder of our food whilst our plates were still on the table, and were rudely questioned when asked if the service charge could be removed. If the lack of ambiance due to no music, or lighting etc, and the food quality wasn't enough, the service was appalling. I will not be returning to this restaurant.

When we arrived at the restaurant they wasn't opened for business even though our booking was for 1:00pm. We then had to wait 10 minutes to be let in the restaurant. They seated us and took our order. Our plates of food arrived within 5 minutes even though our drinks hadn't arrived. One of our plates of food was freezing cold. When we told the waiter he was incredibly rude and took it away. We then asked if he had reordered it and he said no. So we told him that we wanted the food but just warm. After waiting 20 minutes more we asked the same waiter if he thought it would be much longer to which he replied "yes it will be a long time" and stormed off mumbling something under his breath . We then spoke with the Manager and explained how rude he had been and she told us that he was the best member of staff. We explained what he had said and she just shrugged. The food arrived 20 minutes (so overall a 40 minute extra wait). Which we sent back. We then asked for the bill and the bill arrived with both the sent back meals added on as extras. We were offered no apologies for the problems we had during the lunch and when we got up to leave a waiter was very rude to us. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Extremely disappointed having visiting it once before and having had a lovely meal.

I've been going to this restaurant since it opened in 2008 and, from being excellent during the first few years, it has gradually become worse and worse over time. The staff morale is very low and I think that it must be something to do with the management/ownership. The proprietors don't seem to care anymore and it's obvious that they're not treating their staff very well as there is a much more frequent change of the visible staff than there used to be. I know that Cha Cha Moon has been having difficulty in a very competitive market, but in the past this restaurant would have met with the challenge and kept its customers and staff very happy. Reviews have been getting less and less complimentary for a couple of years now and I can't see the restaurant lasting much longer. Rents in the West End have been increasing a lot and Business Rates are set to rocket in April next year, and I feel that this must be something to do with the decline in standards. So, come on Cha Cha Moon, raise your game and treat your staff right so that in turn the customers return and you regain your status as a great restaurant.

We just walked through to the reception there are a staff standing there and we kindly asked her take our payment. At this moment the waiter come to us and shouting on us " you guys should wait on your table!" then walked out. First and last visit to this place. The food was god awful. It actually tastes worse than it looked. No clue what part of Asia this was a fusion of but I think they need a new menu. The pros - good cocktails, great location (the courtyard in front) and the fact that you will pretty much get a seat asap. The cons - tasteless food, toilets suspect and service was sparse. Won Kei in Chinatown is a bit better (and that's not a compliment whatsoever).

Went with a group of friends for a casual Friday lunch. Staff were fairly lackluster despite the place only being not even 1/4 full. We got dumped behind a pillar that blocked out the only natural light in this place. Ordered starters and mains. Food started arriving randomly as expected but long gaps, especially between the first and last of the starters but only a minute between the last of the starters and first of the mains. One of my mates food never turned up. He asked several times and was told it was coming, but after around 10 minutes he told a waitress if they hadn't started it not to bring it as he no longer wanted it. Another waitress came over and asked him if he still wanted the meal, to which he said if it's not ready he didn't want it. She walked away without saying anything. Out of the 6 of us that got food, 3 found them ok, while 3 found theirs fairly bland and overpriced. When the bill arrived we didn't pay the service charge and they were a bit miffed. Tough.

Recently went to Cha Cha Moon with a friend from home, eager to eat some Asian food. This eagerness turned into complete disgust when the first dish arrived - the Cha Cha Mooli, which is what they call their turnip cake. After eating the first few mouthfuls, I noticed a strand of hair in the dish. I pointed it out to the waiter, who instead of apologising and whisking the dish away, like any good waiter would do, replied in retort "You think this is hair???" He then yelled at his colleagues, "They think there's hair. You explain to them," and walked away from the table. Shocked at his behaviour, I noticed an older Asian man coming to the table, who I thought was the manager and would finally treat my discovery with seriousness. But instead, he took a single glance at the dish and said "No, this is the vegetable root." Now, I am Asian myself, and it's not like I was eating this dish for the first time in my life. I know what bean sprout roots look like. There were many thin bean sprout roots in the dish, which were all brown. But this strand of hair was clearly black and thicker than the bean sprout roots. When I insisted that there was hair, he then took the dish away to the kitchen counter, and he and a group of kitchen staff started to prod at it, moving all the food around the dish. He then had the nerve to return this dish back to me, after it had been mixed around by him. Why on earth would I want to eat it now, after he and his colleagues have been mixing the hair more into the food? I told a waiter I wasn't going to eat it, so he just took it away, with no apology, no offer to take it off the tab, no nothing. An extremely disappointing experience, given that I have been to the restaurant a few years ago and had a pleasant experience back then. I have zero intention to return ever again.

I used to come here regularly with friends and the dishes were always really fresh, colourful and tasty. I'm not sure what's happened or whether there has been a change of management, or a major cost-cutting exercise but we ordered two mains and both were dull, bland and very very uninspiring. I ordered the "Prawn Sambal" which sounds appetising on the menu but alas, when it arrived it was anything but. Literally a pile of white rice, three slices of cucumber, the end of a badly cut tomato and prawns in what tasted like a shop bought (and not freshly made) sauce. I called the waiter over and asked if there had been a change of management as the food looked so poor and badly presented. He just grinned and asked if I wanted to speak to the manager. I know when they had the old menu the food was fantastic but that was well over a year or more ago now. I won't be coming back again- I have a feeling it is fraying around the edges and even the chairs we sat on were slashed and worn out!

I came to Cha Cha moon when it first opened and dishes were pretty good. After a year or so I didn't go back because the food became quite bland. This was back in 2008/9. I went recently with family and we ordered a variety of dishes. Noodles, soup, chilli beef, udon and salad. Some the dishes were ok but no way authentic. The udon was swimming in sauce and it was supposed to be wok fried (dried). The beef noodle soup was quite mild and noodles were too soft, the broth was bland. The chilli beef was served lukewarm. The seafood ho fun was covered in some kind of black bean sauce that stuck onto the plate and the vegetables were huge, anyone could choke on them. The service was ok, nothings special no smiles or any special treatment. I felt the food was served to us in a rushed mannger and the staff were quite forceful. Its a shame really because the place was good when it first opened. I should have stuck to my guns and waited in line for 30 mins for Shoroyu Ramen I would have been much happier and satisfied.

Buon rapporto qualità prezzo e soddisfazione garantita! It's good for a quick fix if you are craving some noodles after a long shopping trip. It is close to the main shopping streets like Oxford, Regent and Carnaby street. We ordered three Taiwanese beef noodles and it tasted nothing like it. It was fine just nothing like what it is supposed to be. The noodles were too soft borderline on being mushy, and the skin for the potstickers were too thick. The soup was very sweet, it would have been better if not stew with so much sugar. It's full of young people, and I think it is good for a quick noodle fix but nothing authentic or very Chinese about it.

This is a very competent fast service Asian restaurant. They could be a little more generous with their meat portions but generally very tasty. Bench style seating.

"Decent enough, quick food, ideal for a weekday catch up with workmates but nothing special. A lot of the noodle dishes are quite heavy so I would recommend the salads. Service is fine but not outstanding. If the weather's good you can sit out in Kingly Court."

My friends and I had a late lunch at Cha Cha Moon in Soho. We started with vegetable spring rolls and then had crispy duck with noodles. The food was nice. The service was friendly and fast.

Very very average from quality of food to environment. The waiter was friendly and showed us to a space and pointed out that he had put us there as it wasn't under the flickering overhead light on the next seat along. The food was very average, I had a sticky/sweet chicken and rice dish which was edible, my partner had a very odd lamb curry which had way too much cumin. Spicy aubergine was the best dish as it had an interesting flavour. Toilet was better suited to a grubby pub - toilet seat was hanging off, loo roll on the floor - nice. If you like Chinese go to A Wong in Victoria.

I visited the restaurant on a Sunday at lunch. Food is good and portions big. Only disappointment is seeing some members of staff lacking in motivation and not smiling to customers

What a shame. We'd been coming here fairly regularly since Cha Cha Moon opened around 2006 and, after a break of a year or so, we were looking forward to returning. What a huge disappointment. Alan Yau has seemingly gone and clearly the accountants have taken charge - to the detriment of everything. We'd have much rather gone to Tesco and bought a cheap ready meal to eat at home as it would have been better in all senses. Always functional yet smart before, things are looking time-worn and tatty, especially the loos. The service was as brief and perfunctory as possible. As for the food - appalling. My seafood Singapore noodles were drab, tasteless and boring, 'decorated' with a clearly carefully counted-out small portion of seafood on top. They had none of the spice and pizzazz that we've enjoyed before. And can easily enjoy elsewhere - be that our local Chinese or at home with a ready meal. A liberal dousing with Sriracha didn't even manage to enliven them much.My partner's duck salad lacked the promised cucumber and comprised only the equivalent of a supermarket bag of leaves lightly washed in a citrus dressing, and factory-produced crispy duck that rapidly turned to chewing gum in the mouth. Even the Szechuan dumplings were pretty bland - and that takes effort. We complained, of course, but were hungry so needed to eat rather than go and find another restaurant. A second waiter came to apologise and tell us that the manager (who seemingly didn't have the guts to come and speak to us herself) would take the noodles off the bill. So it may not have been expensive in the end, but it wasn't worth it even then. We'd have trouble convincing ourselves to try it again as there are plenty of other places to go, especially in busy and buzzy Kingly Court where Cha Cha Moon is located. Mr Accountant - please allow your chefs to spend a little more on ingredients and preparation, even if it means raising prices a little. They don't seem to have moved much over the years and you're now being left behind. It's now all less than average. Very sad - from our expressions during and after our meal, to the food itself.

I can't understand why anyone would give this place a bad review. OK, so there may not be much option to change things around on their menu, but.......It's a noodle bar. You order your food. It arrives quickly. There's lots of it.The staff are fast friendly and efficient. Its fresh. It's reasonably priced. In this place you can even eat outside. If you want tiny portions and to sit on a table by yourself and pay a load of money go elsewhere. We were blessed on the evening we attended with a theatrical lady who gave us, and anyone within earshot of her foghorn voice, the benefit of her views on any of the west-end shows currently running. If this well-upholstered dungaree-clad visionary is in the house then you are in for a treat. Pin back your ears.....

We ate her with our daughter. Nice outdoor courtyard if weather good. You eat at wooden benches. Service was friendly. Dishes arrive at different times but they do tell you it wasn't a problem for us. We all ordered mains with rice or noodles and two sides. Bill was reasonable especially for London. We would eat here again.

It was a reunion with friends from Singapore - we decided it would be good to have lunch in a place which served Singaporean/ Malaysian/ Chinese cuisine .I had many good memories of good food at Cha Cha Moon , however this time we all agreed that the Char Kway Teow and Beef Hofun arrived not steaming hot and they didn't look as if the noodles had been cooked fresh. The Singapore noodles however was the best dish and seemed to have been cooked fresh. A change of chefs / kitchen staff ?? I won't be going back in a hurry !

Went here for our wedding anniversary meal at lunch time . We were not disappointed, my wife had the Asian Mojito and yes there was a nice amount of alcohol in this, not watered down. I had a beer. We had a shared platter for starters and asked for a small change as wife does not eat squid and this was accommodated. The starter came as we were eating our mains worked for us but ... For mains I had the Singapore fired noodles which was just the right amount and flavoursome. My wife had the Szechuan chicken noodles and this was plentiful as well. No space for dessert. Will definitely be back. This restaurant is close to Carnaby street. May

Poor service and limited choice on the menu if you want something less spicy. It's an alternative to Wagamama's for some, but I personally didn't enjoy it. The Strong taste covers the actual taste of the food, I saw people leaving without eating what they'd ordered. Located in very busy Carnaby Street, this place has got a nice outside seating area.

This review is purely for drinks. We sat outside in Kingly Court on one of the long bench tables and just asked if we could have drinks. This was not an issue and the waitress swiftly brought us over a drinks menu. Our waitress was great, smiley, friendly and attentive. We had a bottle of prosecco which was reasonably priced for London - £24.00 and sat and chatted for a good 1.5hrs. The food did smell & look lovely and based on this experience I would be tempted to go back and try the food despite some of the negative reviews. Tip: sit outside if it's nice, Kingly Court is great for people watching!

The food did not taste fresh and tasted like it had been re-heated. We ask for a slight change to one of the dishes and was told they could not change anything, which makes me think its all pre cooked and then heated up. It was a flavourless meal We ended up going for a second meal that night because we were so disappointed with our food.

It's often got a buzz to this place, I think it has to do with the dark floors and red colouring in the room. My friends and I sat in the middle of the restaurant and it was next to impossible to get a waiters attention to get a menu, ask a question, get a drink order, order our food, order a refill (you get the picture!) The staff seemed to whizz around on the perimeter of the room but not in between where other customers are seated... It made for a rather long and arduous process to get service. I ended up getting up and walking over to the kitchen to find a staff only to be told "I don't serve tables, someone will be with me shortly!?!" We won't be rushing back...

I strongly advise to avoid this place...the staff are incompetent. No card payment facility. The ATM didn’t dispense correct cash. The drinks are awful and the food is terrible at best ! Carlton Lounge is much better for Shesha and food and is in a much better setting, this place is more of a make-shift smokers den at the back of your garden...

No volveré
