My wife an I frequently visit the lodge, whether it be for a great full English breakfast, to have an evening bar meal or just for a couple drinks. We find it a very fun, welcoming and friendly place with a great atmosphere with facilities for adults and children alike. Definitely worth a visit if you passing through.

Ignore the 1-3 star reviews. This pub is now under different management. The interiors are clean and well kepped. The grounds feature a verdant beer garden, and there is a playground for kids. My partner and I frequent a number of restaurants, pubs, and eateries, and this is one of the better ones! As we are a same-sex couple, we are cautious about being ourselves when out and about, and if we do feel... “unwelcome” we don’t go back. We visit this pub frequently. The welcome is always warm, with a casual atmosphere which put us right at ease. There is a good selection of traditional beers and ciders, without any of the usual Americanised dreck. On Saturday mornings, the pub offers cooked breakfasts, served with coffee or tea, and are a perfect antidote to the dreaded “Friday night comedown”. In the evenings, they serve pizzas and basket meals. You can tell that NOTHING served has been frozen, or microwaved. The food is served reasonably quickly, and piping hot. Everything is fresh, right down to the onion rings! The chips are the best in the county, and the burgers are always succulent and stacked high. As I write this, my mouth is watering from just remembering! Visit this Carmarthenshire gem.

We moved here just nearly 2 years ago and have been welcomed with open arms by the family that run the local pub. A friendly local, good pub grub and good portions with a choice of burgers or pizza and breakfasts on Saturdays. The pub has an outdoor play area and serve slushes in the Summer which is a winner for our boys! A variety of beer on tap aswell as bottles and a range of spirits including bubblegum gin. Family friendly even with our whirlwind 3 year old in tow and at Halloween and Christmas the owners really get in the spirit with decorations and fun for the kids. All in all a fab little pub that we are happy to call our local!

The New Lodge is a hidden Gem in Pontyberem. The new owners have turned it into a place everyone talks about - the food is amazing! Not only is it a warm environment but it offers stunning food at reasonable prices. We visited and had Breakfast each and from ordering to delivery the staff chatted to us, offered us extras and even made sure we had our order just how we liked it (A rarity!). The food quality is second to none with local ingredients and produce meaning you really do get an authentic breakfast. Excellent food and excellent service.

We call here quite often - the food and the welcome are always great. We usually call here with our children or with friends but we've called here as a couple too on the rare occasions we don't have the children because we like it there - it has a lovely, friendly atmosphere. The food is always really good and the landlord and landlady go out of their way to make sure everyone is happy. It's not a gastro pub but if you want tasty home cooked food at a good price then it's your place. My 20 year old son has declared that the burger he had there was the best - and that is praise indeed! There are picnic benches in the garden and a lovely wooden play area for children. Around 20 of us arrived at the pub one evening in August, all wanting food after a day out but we hadn't booked tables. The pub was already really busy but we were all fed and watered! It really is a lovely little pub with lovely hosts and well worth a visit.

Empty pub, with only a very few people calling there. Definitely not a couples dining place, does cater better for very young clientele with pizzas and bottled beer.

Once a nice pub with home mad meals, children always welcomed. Now a new owner has changed everything. No meals of any kind, except slush, crisps and sweets. New pool table, geared for young people. The owner does not chat with anyone, he asks what you want, takes your money, then dons earphones and goes back to play on his laptop. What a waste.

This was a great spot for lunch! We stopped off on spec and I was pleased to see vegan options. I had the vegan burger which was lovely. My parents had the chicken burger and the gammon, and they were equally pleased with the food, the portions and the service. I also had a vegan crumble tart with custard which was delicious! Overall a very pleasant experience, although prices were a little on the high side.

Brilliant seafood starters. Cosy atmosphere and great service. Varied menu encompassing Welsh specialities and tasty pub grub, nice cold beer and soft drinks. Definitely recommend the chips as they are very crispy. Mushy peas with a twist. We enjoyed our meal in the secluded den watched over by a giant grizzly bear. A must visit if you are in the area!

Stopped off here for lunch with my elderly mum and was pleasantly surprised. Whilst the seating was adequate the staff were very friendly and cleared vacated tables promptly. The drinks and food menu’s had plenty of choice and I decided to have the jacket potato with chicken curry which came with a salad garnish. The portion was great and the chicken curry was delicious…mum had a toasted sandwich which came with a small salad, coleslaw and some crisps. Both very reasonably priced and would not hesitate to recommend if you are looking for a lunch time bite. We will return.

Had a quiet meeting for a coffee with a friend. Staff were helpful, prices reasonable and time to chat. Enjoyable.
