No atmosphere inside .Food was awful cold chips over cooked in old oil sweet and sour pork was tiny and over cooked sauce lacked any flavour Will never order from there again Once bitten twice shy Absolute joke of a take away

Its a good takeaway. Honestly can be a bit hit and miss but we always go there and if you order from shop and wait it is a lot quicker than delivery.

We phoned through an order tonight, 24.06.24, for delivery. We usually use a different Chinese takeaway. Believe me, I wish I still did. Anyway, we called and a very difficult member of staff answered our call. The female person who took our call was obviously English. We ordered over 30 pounds of food, including a chicken curry with no onions, just peas, this is important because the member of staff in question, read us back the order. We also ordered chicken balls which by anyone's standards, was burnt. Chips were burnt also. Obviously the curry arrived with so many onions, the portion after was half. Chicken balls had a large bone in one of them. I think what upset me most was the lady that took the order. She kept laughing. At what, I don't know. This is really horrible, but please avoid this place. I have never wrote a bad review so I know I know this is bad. I can only guess that the manager was not there because it really was a bad experience. Please don't eat there.

Nice Chinese, I only had chicken balls and chips, but it was really good. I would quite happily eat here again.

Ordered about a year ago and was OK. Tonight however, was terrible, to the point it went in the bin. Tasteless and chewy meat. Really not good. Customer service was great, polite and happy.

Great takeaway. Ordered again last week after Martin came back off his hols. Awaiting our delivery tonight. We have relied on Kwong Lee for a number of years and never disappointed. I so love the 3 fried delicious but not been let down on any order. We do have delivery and always on time. Thank you for your efforts.

The most disgusting take away I have ever had the misfortune to eat. The pancake roles are served in some sort of batter that smells about a week old and they were recieved swimming in a bag of oil. The beef was tough and chewy. And the meat in the special chow mein looks like its came out of a tin of ham! Never again. Avoid at all costs.

Great customer service when ordering food and quick delivery. Big portions of food which is good! Food was lovely and cooked well, very tasty. Salt and pepper chips were a little bit too spicy for us but that was the only tiny fault we had! Would recommend! Cheap pricing also.

I blame the Postman! Menu dropped through the letterbox, so I thought I would give them a try! Can't blame the driver for the roadworks but cold food is never good! Paid £7 for delivery but it is 8 miles so fair enough but despite generous portions and the fact the Hong Kong style sweet and sour was actually chicken strips not cheap balls it was tasteless! Sorry not going to use you again!

Just incredibly rude. Terrible service. Such a shame, as on other evenings they've had much better staff. (Went down the road and for the same price got a much better dinner.)

Slow delivery. Food was cold. Portion of rice was missing and they refused point blank to credit the missing item. Now moved to Hot Wok down the road.

Absolutely filthy disgusting food used to spend 50 a week here then went down to 2.50 as love pancake rolls just finished a 12 hour shift so went and got my pancake got half way up the road had a bite and went straight back was frozen inside pathetic the meat was actually still frozen forgive me for wanting fresh food but they aren't they are frozen and reheated I do not care what he says they were frozen and he replaced it I'm so disgusted with it and they get away with it as people still go there god knows what goes on in the back there.the thing is they aren't even busy its because they don't care all the disgusting food I've eaten in there it makes me feel sick at the thought of it u just need to open the door and step inside to see the place is dirty never again they can shove there pancakes where the sun don't shine they apologise but they don't say 9h sorry mate have this on the house etc nothing they look at u and say sorry sir.pathetic useless horrid people

Good tasting food but very slow delivery. Had to phone to check whether our food was still coming. Had visitors from up country who were hungry but they enjoyed the food.

It had a big sign on the wall saying we cook all our food in GM oil ,which will put people off ,they only take cash but showed us where cash point was ,did have vegetarian options, didn't get what my partner orderd but still was very nice

food taste is spot on but over recent last few visits I have noticed the price increase which is fair enough but the size of the products are getting bad, the size of the sweet and sour balls are 1/2 the size of other places I have been , I dont mind paying the extra price but don't make the portions 1/2 the size too or I wont be returning , hate greed !!!

Awful ... crispy chilli beef swimming in a sweet sauce so soggy chilli beef... vermicelli noodles bland no spice ... not good will not order again ..whole delivery in the bin...

Generally really good food. Reasonably priced compared to similar restaurants. They badly underestimate the wait times quite often though. We've arrived to pick up food several times, and often been sat in the resturant for up to 20 minutes waiting past the time given.

Ordered tonight and can't fault them but tonight something went wrong. Ordered 3 separate items to make a meal up, 2 items came with the 3rd 40 minutes later. The young girl on the phone was the only one to apologise. Won't be ordering again

Everyone said that they enjoyed there meal only thing was my chicken curry was a little bit on the hot side .

We have ordered from New Kwong Lee for well over a year. We initially ordered the standard Sweet & Sour etc for a take-away, but have gained confidence in all that we have explored on this menu. King prawn with peppers in black bean sauce is lush. I am a recent convert to Fried three delicious (No 13)....I can't do heavily fried. This is lovely and not in the least bit greasy. Their chicken wings are tender and fall off the bone. Moreover, their service is respectful, their delivery is accurate and I really wonder about some of these negative reviews!? Many thanks to Martin and his family and staff. Keep up the good work.

AVOID!!! - THE FOOD HERE IS TRULY AWFUL We ordered from here the night we arrived in Liskeard, we were tired and the menu was in the cottage we had rented. Oh how that was a bad decision. We ordered a set menu for 2, they told us it would take about 50 mins, and true to their word it arrived in that time. The food it has to be said was appalling. The shredded duck had the aroma of pet food, though there were plenty of pancakes. Taste was OK, but nothing to speak well of. The rice was tasteless, completely bland, bereft of any redeeming qualities. Then we come to the mains, Cantonese beef, using what must be the very worst bits of beef, chewy and tough, not at all appealing. The sauce was on the sweet side, not at all what I am used to. Sweet and sour prawns, this was sickly sweet, not at all nice and something after 1 taste we set aside for the bin. Lastly, and possibly the worst of all was the satay chicken. I say satay chicken, because that is how it was described on the menu, but in truth, had I not read that I would not have known what it was. This too was sweet, watery, very very yellow and not at all nice, another for the bin. Went to bed hungry that night, but still better than eating it. Would have allocated 0 stars if possible.

Not great, but not terrible.for a start the menu is an absolute mess, so mixed up it makes no sense. Secondly the price, way too expensive for the quality, chips looked like they'd been cooked yesterday, twice and reheated in a microwave and I'm sorry but £3 for a side of fried rice is way too high. The half portion of ribs wasn't bad, but why is a half portion way over half price. The satay chicken skewers was ok but I'm not a fan of the soggy iceberg lettuce cooked in for some reason... Ok so my quibbles are not major, but as an ex chef it's the small stuff that makes the difference. Sort out your menu, get your price point right and take a little pride in what you do and you could do so much better.

Convenient and tasty, although the sweet and sour sauce was served seriously scorching hot.

We ordered sweet and sour chicken balls which was very greasy. The rice was a off putting brown colour. The mixed meat noodles had Spam in which was not nice. Would not recommend. Will not return.

Not much choice in Liskeard but we have been here a few times now for takeaway and never had a bad meal. Food is tasty and there is always plenty of it. Best Chinese in Liskeard.

Very disappointed. First takeaway since being in lockdown as both asthmatic. One dish with obviously warmed up cashew nuts and prawn crackers were hardly crisp. Won’t be going again!

We ordered a wide variety of meals from here last night & got it delivered. I was a bit worried after reading previous reviews but as we'd eaten from here for years I thought we'd "risk"? it. All dishes were absolutely gorgeous, a little different to our local Chinese at home but so tasty & full of meat & crunchy vegetables. The mixed veg with satay sauce was delicious. We're here for a week so very likely to order again.

Just ordered chicken with cashew nuts, special fried rice and sweet and sour sauce. Delicious, and it arrived early.

and this was nothing like it. Poor tasteless food, just something stir fried. Very disappointing. Takes cash only.

Delicious chicken balls, burning hot sweet and sour but it's OK because we had a laugh at getting burnt by it, and this was only because we were ravenous and wanted them balls in our bellys instantly, so glad we found this place

Tasty food and quick service, best takeaway in Liskeard

Its been a while since I wrote a review for New Kwong Lee. I should have done. I think we have been ordering for a number of years with their delivery service. They have not failed. I do have my favourites on the menu, but I have not been disappointed on all dishes and also looked at new ones!!. Thank you Martin and staff.

The decor was quite dull but the staff was very friendly. I ordered chips which surprisingly came in a paper bag which was partly a disadvantage due to the grease. They were however very crispy and nice.

My wife ordered Duck with Peppers and Black Bean sauce which was just duck fat with no flavour and a watery sauce. My Mixed Meat Curry was spiced beyond any recognition of flavour and not sure what was mixed about it with 90% of the meat being chicken. Prawn crackers were stale as if they were at least a day old. This used to be the best Chinese in town however now wouldn’t touch it after this meal

Lovely telephone manner and always courteous. Unfortunately the meal we had yesterday was so full of mono sodium glutinate that it made me feel quite poorly with a mouth so dry I could barely speak and a tight band round my head. Rather scary and not something I would want to repeat . I often eat Chinese meals without any problem. I think there needs to be a cutting down of the MSG or maybe possibly a warning. Also a very strong taste of antiseptic in one of the dishes..this may have been due to cleaning because of Covid but it was quite unpleasant. Hopefully this was just a one off.

Second time I ask for delivery after first one been 3 weeks ago and the lovely lady on the phone knew address just by voice so well done more business shall be done as the good is exquisite and delivered with respect 🙏🙏🙏

IF HAD 1 MISTAKEN ORDER OUT OF HUNDREDS FROM HERE. HAVE ALWAYS ENJOYED THE FOOD. GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE, WILL ALWAYS EXPLAIN WHAT IS IN EACH DISH AND WILL CUSTOMISE YOUR ORDER.

Tried here after bad experienced with the other takeaways in Liskeard and was pleasantly surprised. The food was hot and tasty! Will definitely return.

Good food always hot and never a problem

Well I much prefer Indian to Chinese. However I thought I would indulge in a Chinese just for a bit of variety in my life and I was fairly impressed. Delivery was a little late but its a busy world, absolutely no complaint I think a lot of people do not consider how busy it is working in a takeaway and the stirling job they do to get your food to you in a reasonable time, if its a bit late get a grip and enjoy your food when it arrives. Good value for money, I do prefer an Indian but you get what you pay for with Chinese and it was a nice change meant I didn't have to cook tonight and was a little cheaper than my usual Indian which I prefer (I eat at lots of different Indian restaurants).

I ordered 2 x egg fried rice, 1 x sweet and sour hong kong chicken and curry sauce.The chicken was hard and taste less. The best part was the fortune cookie.The custom service by the young girl was almost zero. Telling me to wear a mask whilst I am exempt and then throwing my change at me. Definitely will NOT be coming back!

New Kwong Lee have once again overcharged me by charging me for a rice which was supposed to be included with the curry. This has happened to me several times but this time the have refused to refund me. It has happened too many times to be a mistake. I think that is what they call theft.Check your change!

Terrible place! Food is disappointing and There Allergy guidelines are a shambles...they are playing with people's lifes when you tell them that you are allergic to a certain product and not to include it in your meal and they still go ahead and do it! You order your food and get told to arrive and collect it in 20 minutes only to arrive and wait another 20 minutes. They employ stupid young kids . POT NOODLES ARE BETTER THAN THIS TRAMP FOOD and Safer!

I find it difficult to understand why a company that produces quality Chinese food will potentially ruin their reputation by serving frozen chips that had clearly been reheated, perhaps more than once. The chips that I paid for to accompany my Chinese meal were basically inedible and hard, due to being reheated and were disposed of in the waste bin. Get your act together New Kwong Lee, chips are cheap enough! This is a major compromise and potentially damaging to your business

Best Chinese takeaway in liskeard very friendly staff

We were visiting family in St Ive for Christmas and decided as in previous years to have a takeaway on Christmas Eve, we ordered by telephone and within 40 minutes were able to collect our meal. Good service, very good food in very good quantities and it stayed hot. All 9 of us were well satisfied with our meal and will very probably repeat the experience next year.

Disgusting! Beef curry a congealed salty mess, sweet and sour Hong Kong style, over cooked with hardly any sauce. Salt and pepper chips, just so salty. Won't bother with here again!

Nice food but it's the second time I didn't get what I ordered I ordered honey mustered crispy beef and got pork instead

I’ve just had a look at the reviews for this place after having the worst Chinese we’ve ever had and can not believe people have rated this place as half decent! We ordered a takeaway which took over 2 hours to arrive. When it did get here, it was cold and frankly, inedible. All dishes tasted the same and were flavourless, the chicken was rock solid (very concerning) and even the prawn crackers were stale! Having said all that, the lady who took our telephone order was very pleasant.Honestly a horrendous meal and very disappointing. Avoid!

Tried this takeaway for the first time tonight. Ordered over the phone & collected 10 mins later. The food was really nice, good value and very large portions. the kids liked it too! Nothing too spicy or strong, so suitable for fussy eaters. Authentic Chinese with a very varied menu - all dishes covered.

It would be unfair of me to rate on tonights experience only but I ordered the Thai Green Curry which is meant to be mild and aromatic, but this turned out to be enough to burn ya balls off and inedible. Shame because there were plenty of prawns in it and their food is normally pretty good

Disgusting . Sweet and sour chicken batter was solid, chips were old (probably last nights) and re-warmed. Won't be getting from there again, shame really . We've been ordering from them for years

Strongly recommend! Portions were great and food was really well cooked. Delivery driver had sense and pulled off road onto drive so didn't bock neighbours access.I've always loved Thai food so was so chuffed to see they do Thai food to and it really didn't disappoint.I ordered spicy chips as a side by accident (my fault) and the taste of them was boom AND they were real chips not the reformed ones so A+++.Honest give it a try it was fab :)

The only menu we could find online was apparently 2 menus old so was more expensive £5 more expensive and they charged us £3 for delivery (that’s a £ a mile!) other places charge £1.50 total they are charging twice as much. If they have no website or updated menus online they should send them out with the delivery. The food was ok nice and warm.

whilst i appreciate that most of this stuff comes from food wholesalers, there is no excuse for 'assembling' the food with zero effort and care. I bought two dishes and a mixed starter. The mixed starter was quite literally not fit to eat. Absolutely dripping in oil with hardley any filling inside the 'stuffed' articles. Without fear of contradiction, the worst version of prawn toast, spring rolls and something i couldnt quite figure i have ever had. The main dishes were little better and judging by the dehydration levels i suffered at 01:00, the food was laden with salt and unspeakable ingredients.

Wow!! Just had Chinese delivered to the cottage we are staying in for the weekend in Herodsfoot. Best Chinese we have had for a long time! 5* Not greasy, really tasty & big portions. Gutted we live so far away! Do you deliver to Exeter?!?!?!?

Small Chinese takeaway, good selection on the menu including Thai, Malaysian, Singapore dishes as well as the usual Chinese and English options. They also do a delivery service at reasonable prices in the local area.

Only went here because newly opened Wetherspoons had 1.5 hour wait for food. Meal for four was all the same grey colour and tasteless. Won’t go there again!

Amazing food and always on time for deliveries. Easy to order and not too greasy. Prices are right not too expensove and always really friendly on the phone or when delivering your food.

I speak as I find and I have only had excellent customer service from New Kwong Lee. Martin and team are really accommodating and I was really surprised on on the negative feedback on this site.

The food is greasy ,tasteless...indiscriminate meat which could be someone's pet hamster,avoid at all costs... Better to starve tbh!!

I don't like to post negatives but one of the worst Chinese takeaways we have ever had. Everything we ordered just didn't hit the mark. Only positive was the duck and pancakes which we all fought over!

We ordered our meal from here tonight, waited half hour (fine), We were phoned and asked where we were and we explained again giving very clear instructions. We were told they were leaving "now" 40 mins later he arrives, we ahd already been in contact with the shop by this point. The manager hands over the food but its luke warm, we explained that we were not paying full price for a takeaway we have to warm up. (que baby Crying). The bill was £19 so we explained we would pay £10 as our quiet night in had been ruined, and i refuse to pay ful price for heating up my own meal. The manager refused and took the food back with him. - So Mad, terrible service, arrogant man. However i used the 20 - went to morrisons (very late) and bought enough food for 2 nights and deserts :-) Will never recommend

New to the area and tried here for the first time! Got home and the order was wrong, fried rice was so over cooked was like mash potato, beef in ginger with spring onions was spring onions in coloured water, satay skewers were not provided as ordered got chicken in yellow coloured water and chicken with cashew nuts tasted like slime in washing up liquid!
