The best Chinese takeaway in Helston, very reasonable prices and a great selection of food on the Menu. Cash only, so ensure you have it to hand. Cannot fault the Jade Garden, hassle free serivce; Highly recommend.

Omg what s***t. Due to poor quality food have not been for many months but decided to give it a try. However still same crap. The chips were inedible and pots of sauce were small and poorly filled. Managed to eat some but even the dog refused to eat the hard chis. Clearly poor quality so avoid. Def not going back.

Worst Chinese takeaway in my life and I’ve had a few! From slow service to in edible food stay away if u want an enjoyable meal. So firstly order was missing a main meal ( we only ordered 4 meals and 2 of those were identical). Secondly food totally in edible. Chips burnt to an absolute crisp I’d say they were 3 nights ago warmed up they were that bad. Second Chinese pork fried rice except the rice was wet so more like Chinese pork with over cooked boiled riced in a weird sauce. Thirdly plain beef chow mein- which had to be done separate as it was forgotten tasted like soap. Only the 2 Singapore chow meins received no complaints at this point.

The food has always been good here and it was our go to Chinese in Helston. However after visiting tonight the reception area was like an after school club with teenagers serving and swearing and completely out of order there are plenty of other Chinese takeaways in the area so will not be returning for further school gossip from the front of house and their friends

Woest pancake rolls ever, the beansprouts were dark brown and bitter left brown on my teeth, the batter hard and greasy, had to throw away. The young chow fried rice was not so good, the prawns were very fishy and the rice again greasy. After Dinisty Roseugeon this is the worst I've been to in Cornwall. The girl that worked there very nice.

Take away only had chicken curry which was awefull. Sauce in curry was thick and uneatable. Pot of curry sauce was worse and would not tip out. Tried adding water but just turned to lumps. Complained yet told to return meal( 10 mile round trip). When did go back refused to help or discount.. bad customer service. Avoid.

Poor ualty food. HD chicken fried rice, chips and sauces. Chips were cold and chicken rice was seriously lacking chicken. Poor quality and had Poor food before.

Great food, ordered the set meal for two. It would easily have fed four of us, great value and a friendly young lady serving us.

I always buy from the Hoi Yan but as it was closed i bought from Jade Garden never again a pot noodle had more flavour Prawn balls so hard and greasy you barely bite through them and everything tasted the same,no different flavours the portions were generous the price good but please change the oil and dont reheat Peter Yung and his family had class they could cook i was hungry aswell good job the dog isnt fussy.

Worst chow mein ever. Ordered the special chow mein expecting various meats with noodles. Received a salty taste less meal with a few prawns, a few bits of pork and ham! Since when does chow mein have bits of thin sliced ham? Another business only taking cash in Helston, I hope the tax man is watching.

I was on holiday at the time of my visit and I am on a money saving mission like a lot of people in these difficult times. Well I landed on my feet. Best price in town for a decent take out meal. Generous portions and more than adequate for my needs. Thank you.

Wish i could give minus 10 stars. Ordered at 9:55pm under the pretense that it was open until 1030pm as per google and we arrived at 10:07pm and she said "you ordered at 955 and we said 10 mins and you didnt come so thought you didnt want" and they had cooked our food, closed and given our food to the staff? Weird. Freaks of Helston, dont order

We was on holiday and fancied a Chinese, this place was AMAZING! Best Chinese I've tried, and lovely friendly staff!

It was not good takeaway in anyway shape or form no Chinese gravy it dry as anything and taste like come out of a fish and chip shop

I have visited this takeaway on several occasions when in Cornwall and thought very highly of it, however we recently visited on Sunday the 19th Dec, and it was quite poor really. My beef had about 6 slices, was cooked and had a few chillies in an attempt to spice it up! My wife had a special curry stated as egg for young, which was all egg but little else! Young lady who served in the shop was a real asset, which was more than I can say for the woman (owner) who shouted at her because we wanted to alter something in our meal! Hot and sour soup was excellent. I will try the other Chinise next time. Still no cards accepted, once again had to go to the cash point!

Worst Chinese meal my wife and I have ever had I gave it 1 star only because there are no minus Star's. If you like hospital food you might like this.

Turned up there on a Saturday night at 10pm and they were closed! If they advertise a 10:30pm closing time why shut early. Can’t comment on the food, didn’t get any!

We've been using Jade Garden on and off for a few years now and find their food to be first class and not overly expensive, compared to other Chinese takeaways. The girl on the phone/behind the counter at the moment is really friendly and helpful, it goes a long way!

The rest of the meal was quite mediocre., prawns with chilli and garlic not the slightest hint of chilli and prawns with chilli and honey were dreadfully over cooked the egg foo yung was like a doorstop! Will not be returning I am afraid, get better Chinese at Tesco’s.

Service was great, quick and friendly but the food was far below what we expected. £26 for 2 meals and neither of us could actually eat anything served, food was dry and tasted very much processed, nothing felt fresh and the shredded crispy beef had no flavour or taste whatsoever. I've not been to jade Gardens before and would like to believe its a one off however its put me off giving it another go as feel dissapointed with the end product.

Visited this Chinese takeaway for the first time and contrary to other reviews had some great food. Couldn’t fault any of the dishes we had ( 4 people) great taste well cooked and large portions ! We’ll be calling in again !

Varied menu which is cooked quickly and packaged so by the time you get home it’s still hot. Recommended as a takeaway

We decided to give jade garden a go for a family meal. Speed was ok. But we got home to discover that prawn crackers were missing (ordered and paid for) chicken smelt off and the beanshoots had an aroma and colour not suggestive of a well cooked meal. Wouldn’t buy here again.

Firstly, I always use the jade garden and usually have no problems.. tonight, however, I called in on my way home for something for tea. I ordered chilli and garlic beef chow mein and onion rings. Usually the onion rings are great but today they were odd.. hardly any onion and batter was soggy and almost powdery? Very bizarre! The chow mein.. it was vile. I can’t describe the taste but it was not pleasant. The beef was very chewy. The meal smelt strange when I opened the lid but I thought it would taste ok. It’s in the bin :( what a waste of almost £8 I’m so disappointed.

I always choose here for my Chinese takeaway and always loved the food. YES - sometimes the wait was a bit overly long and YES - occasionally the front desk is occupied by a young staff member that is just there for the money and counting the minutes until their shift ends, it’s a bit hit and miss bit we LOVE the food!

Great service and welcoming but the food lacked any real flavour was bland. had chicken curry which was served in a small tin foil tray where as every other Chinese ive ever had does it in a large tray. Veggy menu was lacking too.

Really good experience. Clean and tidy ordering / waiting area. Helpful and friendly staff during ordering process. Wait time just a few minutes. Food lovely, looked fresh and tasted great, not at all greasy. It was still hot after a 10-15 minute journey home. Will definitely be back to try different dishes.

Ordered by phone told what time to come collect my order, arrived at the required time told the girl behind the counter my name , she took my money then nothing , silence. I had to ask her if it was ready only to be told it would be another 20 Minutes! When I asked why she replied "we don't cook the food till you get here" what's the point in ordering it then.. avoid. The food was rubbish as well

Ordered in advance. Arrived, not ready for another 10 mins. The girl on the desk, made no welcome, just sat down behind the desk, transfixed to whatever the soap opera she was so engrossed in, while she fed herself from a bag of sweets. No attempt to engage in conversation, or show any enthuisuam, for the job employed for. My surname was called, she handed over the order, no thankyou, enjoy, or call again. Very poor.

Chips were under cooked and hard. Front of house have no customer skills. Preordered despite no one else being there I had to wait 15-20 after it should have been ready.

i rang up, this little girl answered and asked me if i wanted to order food, why would i ring if i didn't want to order. she sounded really mad and made me feel bad. plus the food sucks

Cuando fui a recoger nuestro pedido, una chica joven sentado detrás del mostrador demasiado ocupados con un programa de televisión que aviso que me gustaría entramos! ! Ella nos arrebató el dinero y de golpe mi cambio en el mostrador. Por favor no o gracias y volví a ver su programa! ! Una pena, ya que la comida era deliciosa, llena de sabor y calor! ! Me gustaría usar este establecimiento, sin embargo, necesitan mejorar sus habilidades de servicio al cliente!

Excellent meal and it did not take long after the order. We went out to get some cash and our order was ready to pick up after a few minutes we came back to Jade Garden. Personally, I think the food was great (and lots) and the front house was polite. I was impressed. Definitely going back.

Esta fue mi primera visita al jardín de jade durante años debido a tener que viajar por el Año Nuevo Chino mi local estaba cerrado. Me dieron una vez en la ciudad y fuimos colección para una copa rápida happy hour en el Rodney Pub (muy agradable). Cuando volví para el llevar a tiempo tuve que esperar media hora. Las disculpas personal fueron aceptados y cuando llegué a casa toda la comida fue genial. Volveré a visitar el Jade Garden de nuevo.

No he estado en este chino para llevar durante años. Después de trasladarse de vuelta a helston recientemente me pareció a mí y a mi compañero le daría de nuevo y probar el hace las especialidades de la casa. Pedí en mi comida no langostinos - me pareció 7. El pollo estaba viscosa, mi chips eran duras y crudas y el arroz estaba zapallo. Muy pobre y decepcionado.

Pleasant staff on the phone . Told ot would be a 30 minute wait so coordinated other food collecting according to these times. On arrival to collect had a further 15 minute wait resulting in other collections going cold No reall apology Food average. I'll not be going again

Great Chinese food, can highly recommend the mixed meat curry with egg or the crispy chicken in satay sauce. Large portion sizes and not badly priced. Quick and friendly service.

GOT TO BE THE WORST CHINESE I HAVE EVER HAD I MEAN WHO PUTS CROUTONS IN A CHINESE WASTE OF £20 WENT STRAIGHT IN THE BIN

Stumbled across this friendly, family run takeaway whilst stopping off in Helston. The food was very good quality with a generous portion size - exactly wanted we needed! I don't often review for takeaways but I've read the other comments and can say that I found the staff nothing but friendly and welcoming; especially when I asked them for help navigating around the town! Would definitely order again.

At 6pm, September 6, my wife ordered chicken and pineapple, king prawns and mushrooms, a pancake roll and soft noodles. The order was placed over the counter not by phone. When my wife arrived home the order was:- chicken and pineapple, Chinese roast pork with chicken, the rest being what was ordered. Quite how the young girl behind the counter translated King prawns to Chinese roast pork and chicken is beyond me. She was English so understood the language, I think. But I may be wrong. The meal was nothing to write home about so won't be going there again.

Never had a bad meal, best chicken satay ever. Consistently good standard, no grease, best pancake rolls. Great service, just a fantastic place to get a takeaway from.

Good Chinese, good prices, wait isn't too bad for food.

Food is always good quality and very tasty. However the orders are always late. Always! Ordered food at 1715 hrs by phone to collect at 1830 hrs. Eventually picked up order at nearly 1850 hrs. Unfortunately this is not a one off, it's every time you order which is a great shame. It's not worth arriving ten minutes late to pick your order up either. We've tried that - it doesn't work!

Had a take-away for 4 with a variety of dishes. Some were really good - Singapore Rice Noodles and Sesame Chicken and some were good - Chicken with Beansprouts and Triple Crown, which would have given them a 4 but the timing was weak. I know it was a Saturday at the end of the month so when being told it would be 15 minutes and it was actually 40 this was a bit much. I'm happy to wait a reasonable time (time to pop into a pub for a cheeky beer) and being told it would be 45 mins would be fine but I hate it when my expectations are badly let down. Yes will be going again but will allow for more time.

After reading some of the reviews I wasn't sure about jade garden but it was recommended to us so we tried it anyway. We were pleasantly surprised. The food was lovely. Some of the dishes were cooked differently to what we are used to but it was still tasty. I would recommend it.

Whilst on holiday we decided to have a takeaway. We chose the Jade garden as it was easy to park outside. The sweet and sour chicken balls were very greasy and the sauce was like water. The hot and dry chicken chow mein was spicy but lacked any flavour, it didn't taste seasoned at all.

Unfortunately I had the displeasure of sampling some of Jade gardens menu as the Hoi Yan was shut... A simple dish was requested with a sauce and some prawn crackers... The chicken fried rice was bland and stodgy, the sweet and sour sauce was like running water and the prawn crackers are so greasy I needed tissues to wipe away the grease on my hands. They sre paper thin and appear to of been cooked in dirty oil. The meal as a whole looked like regurgitated vomit... For such a simple dish I'm dumbfounded as to how they could of made it so poorly. In future I will not order from these people again. A complete waste if money time and effort. Such a disappointment.

Having had a day out in West Cornwall we fancied a Chinese take-away, and was recommended 'Jade Garden' in Helston. We ordered in the shop at 5:30 and it took ~15 min to be prepared and then we nipped down to the lake (free parking) to eat. We enjoyed our dishes, the king prawns were delicious. BTW: The take-away is Cash only, but there is a NatWest with hole in the wall a bit further along the road.When preparing this review I found the other peoples' comments and also the report that it was closed , which clearly is not true (except for Mondays!). In fact we drove past the 'Hoi Yang' another Chinese take-away in Helson which is closed 'until further notice'. Am puzzled by the various reviews and can only say that the 'Jade Garden' is definitely open, and we enjoyed the meal.

Decided to go to jade garden for my daughter as hoi wan closed on Good Friday, simple order for her, she likes certain things. Asked whether chick fried rice could just contain chicken n rice, no bean sprouts etc, answered no. Picked crispy chicken with 'separate' satay sauce, sounds easy. Came back, told 2 minutes, was 15!! No apology, eventually came. Opened at home, sauce which was not satay at all and contained stuff never been part of any satay sauce ever, called n told me to come back and 'swap' it for what we asked for. Another 5 minutes waiting, till girl rubbish, extremely ignorant towards civilised English, just wanted to watch tv!! got it home, sauce awful, chicken over cooked, too greasy n chicken too chewy. Whole experience ruined our evening, rest of our meal cold. Recommend if anyone is thinking of going there, please reconsider, hoi wan or moonflower so much more organised, polite, food great (experience over 20 years living in helston), never go there again..... Ever!!!!!!

Called in to order a take away with some feiends I sat in the waiting room for over an hour waiting for the food to be cooked people who had booked over the phone walked in and got served before me then they had the audacity to call out is number 52 still waiting!! I should had taken the hint asked for my money back and gone, they then started to cook my meal. No apology in taking so long. then this is the best bit, the food if you can call it that was revolting prawn crackers tasted of burnt oil they went in the bin, the chicken balls were saturated with fat they went in the bin the sweet and sour source looked as if it had been watered down that went in the bin and finally the beef dish just smelt disgusting and that went in the bin of what little I did eat upset my stomach the following day so please do yourself a favour and choose a different takeaway and I will never step foot in there again and nor will my friends

I have been going to this Chinese take away for so many years, the reason why i keep going back is because of the food it self. Having grown up in Helston and with it changing so much since I was a lad. I am happy to say this is one of the best things that have stayed around in my home town.

Average food but terrible service and staff attitude. Our telephone order was wrong we were given chicken curry rather than sweet and sour chicken, and were given a real grilling over the error, being told that we must have ordered it by mistake. It took a good 10 minutes of arguing to get it changed - this is one dish neither of us would eat so there was no way we had ordered it by mistake. Perhaps staff have mistakes deducted from their wages. Anyhow there are enough other takeaways in Helston to merit not using this establishment again.

Similiarly to the other Chinese in the area this place is an average Chinese in a small Cornish village. It is never going to be outstanding but it is acceptable for what it is. Parking can be a nightmare in the high street but thats the same for all places. You won't be disappointed if you go here but won't be blown away either. To be fair, Helston is hardly a Mecca for foreign food. Staff are very polite as would be expected.
